Bluefish are amazing! Some people do not care for them as table fare, but growing up on them, its one of my favorite treats. I agree, nothing fights like a Bluefish. Great Video...
You are not kidding ! Pulled my rod & reel into the river ..Never turn your back on them not for a second ! And those teeth wooo..Needle nose pliers please.. You guys make me nervous..
You're absolutely right. I had my first experience last year after building a basic kit and watching a few hundred hours of you tube videos. There's nothing like the wind, waves and fish slamming the rod. Absolutely amazing! My only regret is I had to be 32 years old before I found this style of fishing.
taking a ride to belmar shark river inlet try to fish on the rocks hopefully some good bluefish this summer all its been is bunch of dog fish gimme a striper please

They're the same fish - Pomatomus Saltatrix. Tailor are much higher quality in the US in terms of size and numbers. Stopped targeting them in Australia when I saw how well the yanks have it; we have other species that are worth our time more than little tailor.
Thanks for posting. I was under the impression that one should not put fingers in the gills or gill opening. What say you? BTW, I like the underwater shots. Do people eat these fish?
I'm thinking of a trip to this park....I just want to experience fishing in the surf. I live in upstate NY. Do you have to have a 4WD vehicle to access the beach, or are there places to park and then walk along the surf? The advantage of driving along the beach is huge, but that's not an option for me.
@@OnTheWaterMedia thank you for the reply. If one is willing to put in the miles, can you find elbow room even on a weekend? I certainly wouldn't expect solitude, but I'm hoping I can have some space

Not sure what the rod and reel is but u can guarantee the line is PowerPro 30 LB, that’s what everyone uses around here and that’s what most the of the tackle stores sell
Hello, I contact you from Italy precisely from Sicily, I saw how to catch the "bluefish" greenhouses in New Jersey, I wanted to know how to terminal what do you use for the greenhouses? we use a 0.18 reel and a 0.50 schockleader in fluorocarbon! @Boone Samuel I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Great video! I am new to surf casting and plan on hitting these beaches, and was a little put off about the sense of owning a spot. Don’t get me wrong, general politeness and manners should be observed, but if I am fishing a spot I am not going to leave for a 40 year angler (might try to squeeze him in to be polite). I pay the same dues. Maybe I misinterpreted and it’s a little buddy talk among friends. But I would like to understand what the general environment is like out there.

Anthony Harper I shot an 18 pounder with my speargun and it almost drowned me. Such a powerful awesome predator fish.....just not very tasty imo.

I wish that the surf fishing videos would show where the rig lands in the surf, would help to show how to read the surf
Called Blue shad in south Africa .
When did they tape this because I'm in jersey going down the shore this weekend and it's pretty dam frozen here
We shot this in early May 2017.
I don’t understand why people always hate on bluefish, they r so fun to catch
Awesome video seeing this video many times inspired me to go after the big blues
Slamming 20 pound bluefish on surf is one of my favorite best fishing experiences. Doesn't get much better.

Come down to the Jettys in Atlantic City,nj.
I need the name of those rods + reel + line plzz
25pound braid, 40 pound monofilament liter (a must have), an 8 foot medium heavy surf rod with a decent salt reel. Don't worry about the reel so much
They are using Van Staal and Zeebass reels. Very expensive. Rods I’m not sure of. Line I would assume is 30-50 lb braided line
taking a ride to belmar shark river inlet try to fish on the rocks hopefully some good bluefish this summer all its been is bunch of dog fish gimme a striper please
Can someone send me a link of the best rod, real and line for catching these blues off the surf.
Most st croix surf rods are good, and for reals van stal and salt X

Man I live in a good place Monterey ca but I would love to fish that place wow what a view..beautiful place beautiful fishing 👍
Yet, OTW supports HR 200. Could you not run a bigger hippocracy? I guess you support commercial killing and not recreational fishing.
I believe that Shell E. Caris, who is featured in this video, bought a couple of my Gyotaku prints a few years ago. Is this his picture that I have?
I can't get a picture of him with one of my prints posted on here.
For that, you should show which and what kind of lures you were using.
We call these Tailor in Australia, they are good smoked.

Bluefish aren’t good to eat ?
Jimmy. What rod were you using. Seemed to have a great action love the video thanks
That’s a $1,500 set up each
Shell E. Caris taught me everything I know about fishing for stripers and blues.

I notice they don’t have the green back in us.
Coppers and greenbacks in oz
walkabout1094 they do. it’s weird some blues we catch here in the US are blue, some are green, and the bigger ones are gray
Anyone know what rod Jimmy was using in this video? action looks great!
can you please tell me what are the characteristics of the rod and reel of the first fish caught at the beginning of the video?
I'm courious about your gear. rod length/ lure wt rating/ same with reels ... that looks great

Are you guys concerned about sharks standing in the water
My favorite place to fish....Am in heaven here....JRC
It's actually an excellent tasty fish to eat when you know how.
its tasty on its own.. most expensive one around europe's mediterrenean coast.. they cook it without nothing..
Good size, nice, we call them tailor down here in Australia, although they have more of a green tinge to them rather than blue.
Interesting! I wonder if its the bait they're eating or the water they are in that gives them the greener coloration?
must be last year
Jimmy, can you publish a link for your lure bag? Thank you.

6 to 7 foot medium heavy action.

The tailor in australia. Smaller ones are called skip jacks or skippies.
Skipjacks are Tuna family, these fishes are not Tuna

Anthony Mazza what length rods?

Steel leaders. They've got razor sharp teeth.
What waders were chis wearing?
What were you using as leaders
T A only need mono leader for blues. No need for wire
Bluefish hate yellow !
