We had no TV at this time.i use to wake up at 4am and run to my friend's home which was 4 km distance.his mother use to scold me.wonderful days.
It was a really great to watch on TV those days. We used to wake up at 3am and some time we missed our school for cricket. Amazing days
Amarnath, sreekanth, vengsarkar they are the real creater of indian cricket..
TV channel 9 coverage and cameras were world class that time and it was beautiful to watch matches in Australia.
Cricket has changed so much these days, but 1980s 1990s even low score matches were fantastic to watch.
back in days of cricket Bowlers and batters were pathetic and had poor technical skills.
Good old golden days. I was in ninth std . Myself and my brother use to woke up early morning 3.30 am to see all these matches of Benson and Hedges cup. Mother gets angry, so we kept TVs sound volume at low level .
You must be reaching 50s now. How fast time passed away.
@@kapilbhardwaj4680 Age is not a barrier to re-visit pleasant memories.
Same mother hood to me louder if we switch on early morning
Because one day cricket matches was best in Australia on those days coloured clothing and white balls huge grounds too
I was watching with my brother & Dad during those early cool mornings under zero volume, after setting a wake up alarm. Same with my mother too but our Dad defended us😊. We brushed our teeth during the break & watched the second session of the match with warm coffee always. We always used to fear David Boon’s devastating batting.Great memories!
Srikanth is fearless batsman
I was in 9 th std.we did not have a TV at home.our's was a small village and only TV available was at school.we used to wake up very early in the morning and used to watch match with other friends from my village.Great memories.
1983 truly was revolution in world cricket as passion for one day cricket in Asia started
I use to get up in early in the morning and watch BEnson And Hedges game.
I remember This Match having watched it on T.V when in class 9. We were big fans of k.srikanth and Kapil Dev. Lingering memories of getting up at 5 a.m to watch the telecast. missing those days of pure and fearless cricket..Indian team was not to be taken lightly..
I am am also in your age group bhai. I watched this match on black & white Dynora TV as a 4th std

The golden era of cricket. What a cricket was,the real cricket.
Amazing childhood memories of waking up at the crack of dawn and watching these games. The coloured clothing, white ball, channel 9 commentary was nothing short of miraculous for us kids used to dreary DD coverage where it was fun to play ”spot the ball”😂
Exactly.
Would marvel the sights . Still gives goosebumps of those boyish days.
Great feeling. Early morning. Clear view. Richie of course. What a comentary. Thank you Channel 9.Nothing short of dream viewing
Haha yes DD coverage in those days was miserable. They always searched for the ball after a shot and would show a grainy fielder chasing “something” 😂😂😂
Great to watch srikant without helmet its show how confidence he was.
What a gesture from Jimmy...still he is smiling
True sportsmanship👌
Allen Border greatest Aussie captain of his time
His time, that too just for Aussies ???? He's one of the greatest skippers of ALL TIME, in the same league as Clive Lloyd.
Thos days the cricket match was really a lifetime evergreen moment, which will never come back again.
मेरे जऩ्नत जैसे बचपन के ज़माने का मैच।
मैच धेखकर बचपन के दिन याद आ गए।
Srikant without helmet facing fast bowlers ..those era was something different ..I was in class 6th on that year.
satyakam pradhan that means you are now 42 or 44 !
same for Gavaskar..always wore a white hat and beneath a head guard sort off in all matches..1986 yes I too was in grade 6th then, Richard Hadlee got an Audi( I assume) as man of series then though NZ were 3rd position as being lost to India in semis

Probably the best against pace attacks.
Allan Border. Greatest Aussie captain.
Sadly, most aussies don't acknowledge this.
Greg Chappel is the best captain.
Real batting..... Wonderful to watch.... even a defensive shot is also very attractive..
Love those beautiful days, when this gentleman 's game was pure entertainment. Fond memories of watching this match.
I guess im randomly asking but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me

wow this is amazing i used have this game recorded on my beta video recorder when i was a kid and lost the tape. Finally i get to see it again 30 years later !!!
Fantastic George. Enjoy!
We were there as kids too !! Camera flashed on us when Mo Matthews got a wicket !!
nice !!!
rubicon nz
how cool is that!!
Too good!
India ki team nahi pahle mumbai ki team khelti thi. 7-8 players were from one part of country. Thats why we were loosing so many matches. Thanks to Dada (sourav ganguli) for making team india
Greg Matthew’s was a seriously underrated player
Thank you to the one who had shared this video,I was able to recollect this match when I saw in B/W TV at my schooling along with my neighbors friends
Bruce Reid, David Boon..
Two contrasting shades of sportsman
Mo Matthews caught and balled was great! Kris Srikkanth was a big hitter!
.
He was an underrated player,he could bat, average 41,and a good fielder,he bowling in Sheffield shield was very good,if welham, Taylor,or Lawson were captain then better field would have been set,he was no mug,and I wish he had played more.
Greg Matthews should have played a lot more test cricket for Australia. Very underrated player and he was a very good batsman. In fact a very good all rounder.
Both Indian Openers were facing fast bowlers without Helmets !!! Brave batsmen !!
May be school final days, no TV, yet heart and ears flew over to neighbour's TV. Mama's strictness, my unwanted mind, blank eyes use to run over the books, neighbourhood enjoyment, after fall of each australian wickets would collapse me of excitement. Years after we owned TV but still Miss those golden days.
Miss that Indian team.
Same emotions bhai tears come
What a horrible English.
Back when the 50 over ODI's really meant something. Only a few in each city in Australia each summer. They'd always be sell outs. 90,000+ here at the MCG for Australia v India... It was a big event!

Saw this match live in my childhood. I was too disappointed by the way my favourite Amarnath handled the ball to get himself out.
I remember this series i wokup early morning 4 o clock and watch all matches in black and white tv and all matches realy in 9 channel very good coverage i really enjoy
I remember i was in class 10th in 1986 , this match Commentry listen by all friend on all india radio at till morning
Those were the days...Benson & Hedges with the cricket and Winfield with the League.
Instead of Azhar bowling slow medium in the crucial overs, Kapil could have tried Amarnath / Srikaanth as his bowling options.....this was an important final and sometimes the Indian bowling looked very ordinary.
Yess remember this match .as kid ....heard commentry on radio at neighbours balcony with all members.. really it was nail biting moment after every every six we start cheerful dancing 😀
Those were days when Australia used to win almost every match against India and India used to crumble under pressure. And miraculously Australia used to tick all the right boxes.
Richie Benaurds voice and Srikanths fire works great combination 👌
Those days are so beautiful I was in college early in the morning wake up and see the matches wake up and see the matches what a day's ❤❤
After watching T20 nowadays, the 50 overs ODI appears to be so slow. I remember watching this series when I was in 11th std.
True
That was classic cricket
Old days..having b/w tv. But the magic of channel 9 to force to see the match even early in the morning. Gavaskar and shrikant. Ball going to fence fielder running after it. An eye-catching stuff.
Vengsarkar was awesome and underrated....
Shrikant is a first indian aggresive one day player

Whenever Gavaskar became out it was considered fishy. He was only guy who could play for 2 days continuously.
Huge Australian grounds those days. Now the boundary is shortened. That's why more fours and sixes .
Srikanth facing the speedsters without even a cap ..and gavaskar with jus a skull cap 🙏🙏
They couldn't bowl bouncers without giving away a no-ball, that's why many players didn't wear helmets in one-dayers.
At that time Kapil dev is hero
Srikanth the most liked player of 1980s
I miss the cricket it once was

Look at shrikant no helmet against fast bowlers he was dare devil.
These were the matches and their live telecast, which taught us how a cricket match should be televised.
Greg Mathews great catch!
This Benson&hedges cup has given complete satisfaction for Indian audians
Interesting match, Srikanth (known as a fast scorer) scored 37 off 71 balls!! On the other hand Ravi Shastri (renowned as a super slow scorer) scored 49 off just 52 balls!!! And this against Aus in Aus at the world's biggest cricket ground (MCG).
Maybe. But this was after Srikkanth being ridiculed for playing irresponsibly. Srikkanth was the real inventor of aggressive cricket (adopted later by players like Jayasuriya, Greatbatch, Sehwag, etc.). Don't compare Shastri and Srikkanth. They had different styles.
Ravi was tuk tuk as opener. He had the game to hit sixes against spinners whenever he played in middle order.
I became friends with Roger many years after this game, I told him that our nickname for him was ''Rubbish'' which he smiled at. At least I wa splaying for my country.....
Alan border . The captain who leads from the front. A calm head on his shoulders. Great grafter of runs . Some of today's batsmen could learn how to play a test innings
Dhoni in this era
@@ganessinv as an Indian, I too happen to greatly admire MSD. But Allan Border is in a different league altogether. Dhoni no doubt was apart from being a great skipper also a great batsman. But his batsmanship genius was limited mostly to ODIs while the true examination of batting greatness is still measured based on how one performs against tough opponents in adverse conditions in tests. And history, stats as well as analytical judgement are witness to the fact Border is next only to Sir Don Bradman as Australia's greatest batsman ever and one of the greatest in all cricket history, ahead in several quarters of even the likes of Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, even Viv Richards and several more. While as a captain, Border competes directly with Clive Lloyd, Peter May and Steve Waugh.
In short, some "borders" aren't meant to be crossed.

Australian grounds had crazy settings those days, Black side screen was inside the boundary line and spiky fence which injured many players while fielding.

I remember this match watching in our previous black and white, television,
It was very disappointing to note that Australian Capt Allen Border said nothing about the visiting Indian team. Aust was the host. Kapil Dav did. A true sportsmen.
This was the first piece of silver Australia won under Allan Border, already a year into his captaincy. The second was the 1987 World Cup, which I as a 14 year old going on 15 was going to be happy, going into the tournament just to make the semi-finals! They should have won the wsc the next year, but Botham bothamed them in the finals, then after that aforementioned world cup victory, won their first test series (under border] at home the following summer. They won the wsc that year - 1987-88 - , then won back the Ashes in 1989 and from then on, only the still mighty West Indies thrawted Australia until Mark Taylor took over, followed by Steve Waugh andRicky POnting. It is a crime to undersell what Allan Border did to revive Australian cricket.
Border brought in a culture to Australian cricket. He got a rockstar's welcome whenever he played at home. He got that extremely competitive spirit and never die attitude. I would say he was the man who brought ruthlessness to Aussie cricket. 1992 world cup was Australia's to lose but 4 other teams played out of their skin to reach the semifinals. Taylor had a gentleman approach to cricket but Steve brought in the ruthless attitude, the rest was history until Clarke arrived.
I remember, it was always very good match with Australia as Indian batsmen took chances for big hits against them in between
I remember the match w 2:08 atching live.
I had traveled 200kms to my elder sister's house who had a konark colourt TV at that time.
Srikant being caught and bowled by Mathews was the turning point.
Great cricketing Era.
