I agree. We've probably all heard the accounts of him being closeted and coming along when he did, the world wasn't nearly as tolerant as it is now. He wasn't able to be who he truly was and experience the love he'd always sang of so beautifully. I think this song is him expressing all of that. I've never heard him be this vulnerable in any of his songs and now that I think about it, I've never missed him so much.
