OMG this is bringing back so many memories of some my dads cars rest his soul..he had a Cortina ,a V6 Capri in gold no less..an Escort RSturbo to name but a few..thanks Guys
I had a friend who had a white Tickford capri in 1989-90, that thing was insane. I believe it was the M25 lap record holder at that time & yes we lived in Essex 😂
brilliant episode, I'm currently in the stages of restoring a Ford Capri 2.8i, which belonged to my dad back in his youth! He's since passed the reins to me!
The Escort RS Turbo brings up one crazy memory in my youth, where I had no clue what it was even; when all of a sudden they tossed me in the back and proceed to try and kill all 4 tires for what felt like an hour of my face mostly planted against the rear side window with a force that felt close to 2 G's! A year later you could see the line of these perfect tinny doughnuts down the highway, that proved it was not a dream, and looked more like alien crop circles they were so OCD perfect. Almost half of the cars mentioned in this video were not available on this side of the pond sadly. Shocked that the new Ford GT didn't make the list in spite of also winning LaMans 50 years later...? I would have had to put in the recent GT350R...probably. Cheers guys, thank you for the content big time!
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Jasper Marshall thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I'm 45, grew up in Essex and THAT is the best top ten show you have ever done. Totally agree with the majority of that list too Nice work boys and i'm double chuffed as i voted for it too :)
You guys missed out on the fast Aussie Fords like the Phase 3 GT-HO Falcon (Fastest Production Car in the world in 1972), and even the modern BA Falcon XR6 Turbo...
If I had the money, I would buy Mk2 Escort RS2000, Mk3 XR3i, Mk2 Cortina 1600GT, Sierra RS500 & Capri 3.0S....... loved this video, proper trip down memory lane....
Great show down memory lane, my mother owned a brand new ford zephyr mk4, that I crashed into an old lady’s front garden, via her brick wall, by letting the hand break off, age 5... which she was less upset about than witnessing the thrashing I was then justly administered by my dear departed mother; good times.
The great thing is that most of the people watching this had at least three of those cars you mention during there formative years, and they LOVED them! Many thanks for reminding us Guys
I still remember when the MK1 Focus RS came out, before I was even a teenager. I've found myself checking Autotrader almost daily. Love a fast Ford. Great vid guys.
Think I may have done the same course in a mk1 Escort. Loved it. I've driven a chums GT500 too. A monster. You need one. My list would include the mk2 Cortina 1600E, Capri 3.0s, Escort RS2000 and a 'Sweeney' Consul, arm out the window of course...
Was pleased to see Escort RS turbo MK4 shape get a mention. I've owned mine for 10 year's. Plenty of childhood memories of trips up north in my parents Ford Escort's and also a trip to the south of France in my dad's Sierra. Great car's. 👍
Just realised how many Fords i have owned....Fantastic trip down memory lane for me this.... I have had Fiesta XR2, Escort XR3, XR3i, Escort 1.6 this with twin Webber carbs( 1979 model), RS turbo ( 1990). Thanks again chaps 👏👏👏.
Brought a few memories back, my old man had a red MK4 RS Turbo with the factory fitted extended body kit, I used to use it regularly aged 18, amazing days, favourite songs on a cassette and off we go wheel spinning with understeer into the sunset
@@TheCarGuysTV I bought an XR3 aged 17, dad gave me a 2k loan, insurance was £750 TPFT, was an absolute shed, bought it blind in the dark (bloody idiot) #VCL33X such a shame you can’t buy scrapped plates, would love my first ref plate back now
Spender, Robocop and Cossies; what more could one ask for?! It's always been the Escort Cosseh' for me (totally standard, whale tail, Imperial Blue), but I remember being mesmerised by my Dad's mate's 2.8i Capri, which had wire mesh in the headrests. WIRE MESH!!! Bloody loved it. Great video chaps, as always. Cheers from Singapore (where a new Focus RS costs GBP 140,000 OTR!)
Nice list. Loved how you geeked out on the RS200. Loved those things. Was lucky enough to see a few on rallies before demise of Group B. And I used to watch Spender!! Would love to have seen Escort RS2000 on there too
Owned a 2005 Mondeo ST220, as loved by Clarkson and TG. Mine was mildly remapped and I put a Pipercross carbon induction kit and a Mongoose stainless exhaust on it. Sounded fantastic and drove even better.
Have you guys tried now discontinued gt 350R , it's really underappreciated and is one the best driving experience with NA V8 combined with manual gearbox and it handles corners very well too.
Hi guys.. watched yor video via UA-cam recommend picks As a die hard "FORDFan" since my school days this is a COOL bit of motoring history!..LOVE iT !!💕 Godbless dudes hava gday! 👍🙂👍
NoTickford Capri ? Great going down Ford’s memory lane. l loved my Sierra Cosworths x 4 versions which I owned new from Hendy’s and my Escort RS Turbo. Good times and lots of Vecta Alarms ! Spender only had one Cosworth and then a Merc 190e !
Great list! You do need to add the Voodoo engined GT350R to your list. Car is truly special. 5.2L Flat Plane crank V8, Carbon Wheels, great manual transmission. You should drive one ASAP - you are going to love it!
Great list guys, the Ford Escort RS Cosworh (Monte - in jewel violet) will always be my holy grail car. But I thought honourable mentions were worthy for the mk3 Escort RS1600i, mk1 Fiesta Supersport & mk1 Capri RS3100 (with ducktail spoiler)......also dipping into the SA market, the Capri Perana V8 and Sierra XR8 were pretty bonkers!
Rented a top spec transit a coupe months back. What a fantastic machine! Always lusted after the RS models of the 80's and 90's but never owned one. A 3 door cosseh is still one of my dream cars. Always ended up with the VW equivalents on the drive! My parents had a 24v Probe for years, and my dad had numerous Cortinas and Sierras when i was small. In terribly bland colours. Thats as close as ive ever got to Ford.
Great show - but what about the ultimate Capri? The Perana by Basil Green in South Africa with the V8 engine. Great memories watching them race at the old Kyalami.
I collected my Fiesta ST Edition only two weeks ago, I'm currently running the engine in and due to Covid it's taking slightly longer than it normally would, but you guys are more than welcome to review it for yourself once the restrictions on movement have been lifted (plus it would be a pleasure to meet you in person). I'm pretty certain you would enjoy it, the upgrades that Ford equipped it with are just brilliant, ie: fully adjustable coilover suspension by KW, lightweight flow formed alloys and slightly lighter brakes make all the difference in its driving characteristics.
Living in the states, I only truly recognized a few of these Fords as most were NEVER released here. What a crying shame...........Great vid and educational .
Grew up with fast fords my uncle had a 2.8i capri Rs turbo escort 1 sapphire cosworth rwd 1 sapphire cosworth 4x4 1 escort cosworth in mallard Green all from brand new The 4x4 sapphire was 330 bhp which in 1991 was a super car killer it was a missile for its day and remember going everywhere in it with him as a 12 year old kid and loving it My dad also had xr3is then a series 2 rs turbo which was spotless followed by a rwd sapphire cosworth which I purchased at the age of 29 and owned for 12 years Awesome car, gutted I sold it for a house deposit 😢 You can't beat a fast ford
One of our families first Fords was the Anglia. It was an ex police car bought for £100 and lasted a few weeks before the engine gave up 😂 My ultimate choice has to be the Sierra Cosworth 👍 Great show guys...
My favourite Mustang is the 68 GT390 fastback from Bullitt. As a kid watching the Charger & Mustang tearing it up in San Francisco. Then the mk2 Escort RS2000 that was in the Professionals. I absolutely love fast Fords.
I owned a escort cosworth when in my early 20's. I'm now 47 and would love to own another one. There not that quick standard but if made 400-500bhp there absolute animals. Fun fun times. Mine was imperial blue lux model with the bigger turbo and around 400-450 bhp. Always kept it the right side of the ditches luckily. Reg number L789YDS
My 70 year old grandad bought a Sierra sapphire cosworth in 1990, in a dark metallic red. What a car it was, he did not really understand what he had bought, and just assumed it was like a Ghia version of the Sierra. Made all the more amusing by the fact he had lost his sight in one eye, so used to blat about in the eras getaway car of choice listening to the today show and the archers.
I had a 1989 Taurus SHO, with the Yamaha motor, 220 bhp and a 5 speed. At the time Chev Corvette had 245 bhp and the big motor Camaro 230 bhp. A true sleeper.
Another belta. Jason needs educating on just how good the Puma was. We had one of the first ones all 1.7’s at the start and it was fabulous. On a trip up to the lakes they shut the A1 (as the wind was blowing over trucks), so we had to go cross country. I wasn’t even driving and the car was incredible, going way to quick into corners and flying out of them in what was a prettier Fiesta, so a Racing Puma must of been wild. Oh yeah you missed the 1600E Mk11 Cortina not quick but looked the business.
You missed a couple. You should also mention the Aussie built Ford GTHO and the iconic XB Falcon Coupe from Mad Max. Cheer sthough guys always love the content. 🍺🍺
Gents, how can you forget the Escort MK2 RS1800 & RS2000's, along with the RS3100 Capri, Escort RS1600i (came before the XR3i). Good video but you need to brush up on your Fast Ford facts.. Escort Cossie spoiler delete was an option. That 3dr Cossie you drove was just the std one not the RS500, and remember how the RS500 owned the British Touring car scene back in the late 80's. Thanks for the memories of my youth, tearing around Verwood and the New Forest in my RS2000 Mk2 :-)
Damian, yes to the racing puma! agree on the gt40/gt rather the latter, and a escort cosworth being up there being No1! Mk1 focus rs always been a soft spot too, interior put to one side 😅
Nice list guys. Agree with almost all of your picks, but, you really should’ve included the Ford Falcon 351 GTHO Phase 3 (or at least given a serious honorable mention). 1972/3 it was the fastest family saloon car in the world with a sub 14 sec quarter mile and 140mph+ top speed. I realise in the UK you don’t get much exposure to the Ford brand south of the equator, but, in Australia there has been a fast Ford vs. GM racing series for the past 5 decades and is responsible for some of the fastest Ford saloon production cars ever made. Also in the 70s there was a gem of a mid-engine Ford from South Africa the GT70 a real everyday competitor for the Italian mid-engined cars, which was also worthy of an honorable mention.
Your said in your video that you drove a a rs 500, it was a standard 3dr rs cosworth and not a rs 500. Still glad you love your cosworths as much as I do.
@@TheCarGuysTV ah ok, had a feeling you'd say that. Really enjoy your content on that channel too, but watch check was a great addition to this one. Keep up the stellar work
This one surprised me. If you had asked before I would have gone Sierra Cosworth or Escort XR3i as they were of my time, but the Mustang omg the desire is strong for that one - Oh Damian.
Great vlog. Pick of the bunch would be the RS200, closely followed by the Sierra Cosworth. Both crazy money now, but it doesn’t stop me checking out the classifieds. So when is that Escort Cosworth being added to the collection ?. It would look great next to the Clio Williams. 👍
Would have to put the Fiesta RS Turbo in had one in the 90’s it always got looks and people asking about it, what a car for a 21 year old to have think insurance was £1500 per year to start with😳 even wish I still had it now, even when I replaced it with a 172cup which i still have I missed something about it, it didn’t handle or go as fast as the Renault but I still miss something about it hence why I’m not making that mistake again and I’m keeping the cup!! Oh plus would love a “COSSA”
Lol - have to say I have a soft spot for the Racing Puma also....would fit nice in my garage beside the #1 on Damian’s list 😉🤔 Of the 2 lists I would pick Damian’s...💥
Don't think I'll ever recover from selling my Escort Cosworth :( Owned Series 1 and 2 Escort Turbo's, XR2, XR3, XR3i, Orion Ghia's and have many great memories of them all
Great video guys. For me it has to be the Mark 1 Focus RS. I always though the alloys gave it a real tough homologation look that was never really replicated on later models. I will admit like you Damian to having a secret crush on the Racing puma with those widened arches. I remember it getting great reviews in EVO mags greatest front drivers of all time, which the integra won if I remember rightly. On a different note, please tell Jason to straighten his car pictures on the wall........it’s killing my OCD 😂. Keep up the great work guys.
Sponsored by cur-rust..... Yer with you on the list guys epic. Remember in this horse power game the xr2 fiesta and such like only had 90bhp from 1.6 engines at the time.. Power is nothing without control.. Stay safe bring on the summer 😎😎
My first car when I was 18 in 1984 was a 3ltr capri😳 Yes, my mates had 1ltr escort populars, but I bought a 3ltr capri. That's the equivalent of a new 18 year old today getting a Gtr as there first car. I fully blame bodie and doyle for that one😂😂
IIRC, Ford lost money on every Racing Puma they made. Apparently they literally took completed normal Pumas off the end of the production line, then stripped out & replaced all the upgraded parts. Also, tellk me I'm wrong, but wasn't the Puma basically just a tarted up Fiesta? Sadly my only memory of the Escort Cossie was seeing one parked in the disabled bay at Peterborough Sainsburys. The "disabled" owner turned up as I was parking. Imagine Olivia Newton John in that tight fitting black get up at the end of Grease, but then double the age, triple the weight, and add black roots & bleached blonde hair - the contrast twixt car and owner scarred me for life.
OMG this is bringing back so many memories of some my dads cars rest his soul..he had a Cortina ,a V6 Capri in gold no less..an Escort RSturbo to name but a few..thanks Guys

THANKS guys! I'd add the 1970 Boss 302
Your said in your video that you drove a a rs 500, it was a standard 3dr rs cosworth and not a rs 500. Still glad you love your cosworths as much as I do.
Another fantastic vid gents. One of your best.
Again no watch check though, have u phased that out ?
It’s now on TheWatchGuys.tv
Sierra RS Cosworth, Ford Gt40, Escort RS Turbo S1, Escort RS Cosworth, Escort RS1600i, Ford RS200, Escort RS2000, Escort RS Turbo S2, Capri 280 Brooklands, Focus RS Mk1.
Have to agree with the Racing Puma, I ve always liked them or the original
Plus a car (the original) with Steve McQueen in the advert is always cool.
Ah yes I’d forgotten about that one
Had xr2, xr31, 1.6 capri and a 2.8, loved it oh and that wasn't spender its Tony Adams
Lol - have to say I have a soft spot for the Racing Puma also....would fit nice in my garage beside the #1 on Damian’s list 😉🤔
Of the 2 lists I would pick Damian’s...💥
Fabulous Fords! I had a Mk 1 & 2 Cortina... but they were not hot ones. :(
Don't think I'll ever recover from selling my Escort Cosworth :(
Owned Series 1 and 2 Escort Turbo's, XR2, XR3, XR3i, Orion Ghia's and have many great memories of them all
Great video guys.
I knew you would pick up on the car pictures... 😂
Mouth watering......put one in your collection....maybe the escort lotus ?
Sponsored by cur-rust.....
Yer with you on the list guys epic.
Remember in this horse power game the xr2 fiesta and such like only had 90bhp from 1.6 engines at the time..
Power is nothing without control..
Stay safe bring on the summer 😎😎
I loved the Ford race Puma I sat in one at the Glasgow SCC motor show back in the day👍
My 'Ford' story. Lost my Datsun.....(Cherry), in a Ford Escort Mk.2. Can't say when exactly and ofc, won't say who. Happy days 😄🤠
My first car when I was 18 in 1984 was a 3ltr capri😳
Yes, my mates had 1ltr escort populars, but I bought a 3ltr capri.
That's the equivalent of a new 18 year old today getting a Gtr as there first car.
I fully blame bodie and doyle for that one😂😂
If you feel like an RS200 for the collection, there’s a tidy evolution model at Canepa for sale at the moment.
You need to drive Mk8 Fiesta ST, i have one and love it and will never sell it. A proper Fast Ford.
👍
so why did we vote Aston again? :p
Patience, Eddie, jeez
RS200 for the win😎
Great video gents. You’re not selling the CS are you? Or have I missed an episode? 😒
It is for sale at the moment with Meridien
@@TheCarGuysTV Nooooo! 🙁
