Just did this last month with my wife and daughter. You summed up the experience perfectly. We did suffer the bugs though. By the morning of day three my eyes had all but swollen shut from the bites!
Thank you so much for filming your journey and sharing it with us! You captured the beauty of that area wonderfully! I had goosebumps the whole time seeing the same beauty I was blessed to see in 2009! I remember having the same feelings that you did about being an impostor and wondering if I could do it, if I was in over my head! Well, it turned out yes, and no. The hike part was great, difficult but certainly doable! We ended up being on the mountain when Hurricane Bill came through. It was downgraded to a severe storm but it was a good one! I can remember having to camp in a moose bed beside a lake because we couldn't find the campsite. I was hoping and praying the moose wasn't coming back for their bed during the night! haha! By the time we left the area, we found the campsite, it had been under water! lol We ended up being storm stayed for a day and was able to cross the river the next one but it wasn't easy! It was a bit scary but was proud that we managed it ok! The Long Range Mountains did give me the courage to give the Fundy Footpath in New Brunswick a try a few years later! We started at Fundy National Park and ended in St. Martin's. That was another spectacular trip but The Long Range Mountains will always remain my dream trip and it was when I fell head over heels in love with NFLD! :) :) P. S. Ten Mile Gulch was far one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen in my life!
Amazing, thank you so much for sharing your story! I did the fundy foot path a couple years before the long range I would say in my experience the fundy foot path was even more challenging, my knees didn’t take the constant ups and downs well. On the long range I taped them from the get go and it made a huge difference in maintaining my physical health so I could enjoy the experience!
Great video. Glad to see another Bluenoser out for an adventure. I'm starting to formulate my plan to hike the entire Northern Rim and Long Range Traverse system this summer (2023). Your video was an excellent addition to my research. Happy trails.
Great video! I did the North Rim and Long Range Traverse back to back years ago. It was a great trip. I am surprised you did not see any caribou, we saw many! I can't wait to take my kids when they are old enough to make the journey.
That was excellent- the story telling, the wise words and helpful camping tips, the exquisite eye-candy of Newfoundland and her raw beauty- she speaks for herself without saying a word. Thank you so much!
Words are incredibly insufficient to describe the rugged and breathtaking beauty of Gros Morne. Thanks for this video journal.
Looks like a great trip! Fantastic job on the video capture and edit!
Thanks so much Brent!
You captured the spectacular scenery so perfectly. It looks so amazing.
Aw thank Lois ♥️
Omg this looks more than just spectacular. Majestic work my friend.
