This is actually an amazing concept that I never would have thought of! I have the entire run of GI Joe figures from 81 to 92 that I have not had a real good storage solution. This may work quite well for that. Not to mention my Star wars figures. As always, thank you so much for it. Awesome and informative video!
You may be able to put several the other direction maybe 4 or 5. Because they are 4”x6”.
Hey Greg! Thanks so much for the tip on this case. I checked out Michael's. Looks like this one could also be an option, and it looks like it will fit most McFarlane figures as well! (Clear Stacking Pencil Box by Simply Tidy 8.24" x 3.74" x 1.57" $1.99ea) They also have a 12" x 12" case that is actually 14.1" x 14.3" x 3.1" which could also work for multiples or the larger McFarlane figures. Thanks again for looking out. Always remember, clean storage solutions refresh your soul, and keep a happy home. LOL we will see you next time!
Ziploc bags will eventually break down the polymers of the plastic causing damage... Such as oily, waxy figures due to plastic degradation, yellowing and sometimes pieces parts beginning to dissolve... Acid -free storage ONLY for me as I'm a vintage Star Wars collector that has spent thousands on my collection....
You know what's up. Acid free polyproplyene FTW
if you run out of storage space, then you should keep your best toys at my house.
I think this is great! I’ve been wanting to scale back my display or maybe change it up and this would be a great way to store the figures I’m giving a break.
I love this but having around 10k action figures it would cost a fortune for me to use these. A more cost effective system I use is, I buy small white boxes in Amazon. They cost about $30 or so for 50. I just label them on the top and sides and then put them in totes.
What are the dimensions and what are they called? Thanks for any info.
This is a great video, and a very creative solution. I'd like to do the same, but my vintage motu and motu origins and wwemotu are all too thick to use this idea. Again, this is a great idea.
Greg, I loved your video man.
Because of my work on UA-cam most part of my action figures are the same way of yours.
I can't display them because I'm always revisiting some on the videos.
I use ziploc too but your solution is cool!
Thanks dude! Best regards!
Looks like my collection. LOL. Your the second person I have seen using the Michael's case.
Those are fine as they are acid free and designed for long term storage
Maybe with you star wars K2 figure, you might try to put him in by it self. Spread the legs. Put one leg in the corner and the other in the opposite corner and bend them a little. It might fit then.
Hobby Lobby has those as well. I always check to see who has them on sale.
Andre The Giant Figure lol terrible idea. Them boxes are like having loads of DVD's and creating more of a big mess
The only thing about the ziploc method is that I have a lot of figures and I always find a couple that get broken due to the weight.
Great video but was wondering since it's been almost 2 years since this has been uploaded, has there been any defects to the figures? Paint or anything? Since the storage bin is plastic as well I was wondering if there was any defects from plastic on plastic? I'm trying to figure out the best way to store figures for a long period of time and this could be it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I got a case like this.. I found that the figures actually press against the sides of the containers. Is paint rub an issue for anyone?
Holy crap! I just bought seven of these. I saw these on sale at a Michael’s and wondered if this worked. It worked great! I just stumbled across this video! It looks like great minds think alike!
Now, question. I have a few figures that are thicker than the case. The box is bowing over the parts. I still stored them that way. Are you attempting that as well?
I have Star Wars and GI Joe. I need to get more for my Marvel Legends. Not if I can just come up with a solution for Transformers.
Been using these for years as weapon/accessory storage, love em. Never thought to store whole figs in them, that's rad. I'm thinking most legends would fit, as would most Classified.
They go on sale every few months.
Question. Do we throw out boxes to value space or keep em for holding value of said figure
Great way of storing your figures. I release a video in sept of 2021 about using them for marvel legends under my Titus Diorama and Action Figure Reviews. Not sure if you happened to see that video which inspired you to also use the same storage idea. Works well though :)
I have a ton of figures and as much as I like your solution, I think it could prove to be expensive to buy enough to store all of them.
Just bought 3 of these online for $12.99 each!! This will be a great option now to store my MMPR lightening figures when I am ready to display them. Thank you for the informative video.
Got any links for that?
Bro…. Stackables Document boxes (clear ones) and for accessories fishing tackle trays from Walmart…
This is a great solution! Off to the craft store for me!
You don't have to wait for them to go on sale at Michael's. You can often find them at Ross for $12-14.
I use the Serilite 3 drawer storage bins, and I layer each row of figures with bubble wrap and all of my weapons are in a separate storage bin but I will have to pickup a few of these cause my weapons aren't with the figure and I have to find them everytime I change my displays
I like to play with my toys and I'm having trouble finding a storage system that coincides with me pulling them out whenever I want to play with
Hey Greg, I have the same type of containers from Michaels but made by Iris USA (acid free) for a couple of years now for my photos and they started to break down - got sticky with a white film when handling them. Had to take out my photos to be safe. Just FYI…
Thanks for the recommendation. Could the Black Series go inside the containers within a zipbag or do you really need to remove them from bags?
you have a problem of which the solution is NOT more cowbell?
that is a pretty perfect solution🍺 I was thinking about legends but I got too many bigger figs that wouldn't fit.. but if you pulled a few trays out you could put the bafs in loose🤔 u gotta look into these bins🍻
Excellent storage solution! Really ideal for Black Series stuff. I wonder if this would work for MOTU figures as well? Thanks for the video!👍
Fascinating idea 💡 when you're in Michael's don't forget to use your daily coupon for more savings, but if said items are already on clearance or on sale that week, it won't apply
lower entropy plastic storing higher entropy plastic hehehe
It's a great solution, I hope they will work on the Gi Joe classified figures?
That’s pretty impressive…an upgrade from the Plano tackle box inserts for sure
Guess who’s going to Michaels on Friday..
That is awesome. Love it. I collect a lot of NECA though. Would love it if they had something like this for 7in or the 8in cloth
I wonder if there are any containers for 1/6 scale figures 🤔🤔🤔
I found mine at Ross Plus they have a colored one. I think I paid 16 for it
OMG!! Thank you! Thank you!!! You just saved me a huge headache & took my worries of losing the accessories away!! We now have a Michaels too! I'm going to go get some of these. Again, I can't say 'THANK YOU' enough!
I just bought 5 of them because i have my stuff in plastic bags and in a tote.
You should organized it on display on your shelves Greg?
I collect ninja turtles figures
Wow! This could solve one of my most vexing problems in collecting. Thanks for posting!
None of the Michaels in my area had any instock so I ordered 5. And they are still on sale.
Will the Heavy Infantry Mandalorian fit?
Really cool but my hulk won’t fit there haha
Do you have any storage ideas for Transformers?
I've tried so many different storage options over the years, but I've always come back to just chucking figures into ziplocks and dropping them into a tote, all together. This way is interesting, especially if you can get those kits on sale. I do wonder how practical it is for figures with tons of accessories, like the Classified series. Some of those figures are just loaded with extra stuff. That's probably a single figure per container situation, which isn't the worst thing in the world, either.
Is anyone using this that has the Classified motorcycles? Do those fit individually into the smaller containers, as well?
Thanks, Greg!
Storage ideas are always a good subject, thanks Beard Master. 😎
Very cool! I would suggest getting a label maker and labeling the boxes so you can see them through the front lid.
Awesome Greg - and subscribed. You rock. Just picked up 3 today! And thank you for what you do for the collector community! 🤘🏼👊🏼🙏🏼
I usually like displaying my figures but since I don't have room to do it all the time, I can only store them in totes without plastic bags, but I definitely would love to do this with some of the figures I own because I hate having figures crushing each other and rubbing against each other!
I habe figures in bags and I don't think there's any issues with them
@@therealunclassified thats great I'm glad yours are safe because I hate figures getting ruined it hurts a lot I try so hard to get mines safe and most of them do remain safe but others might have some tough luck when they're cluttered together!
@@Pedalpunk57 I haven't checked on mine in awhile. But I should. These are all 4 inch Joe's. They been stored for a real long time. But last time I checked they were fine. I have them bagged in snack bags and in 106 qt tubs. I have 2 or them packed to the brim and a smaller one or I have 3 106 tubs and a smaller one. My point is I can store so much this way. If I chose to do someth8ng like in the video I'd use my space because I'd need alot of these things. But bags do make me nervous cause I heard about the acid.
@@therealunclassified oh that's true and yeah that's great to know obviously and yeah I would be scared of the acid ruining them too that's why I would be careful how and where I store them!
Is it good for G.I.Joe Classified too?
Its also good for Hot Wheels i Things.
What size is the photo boxes? 5x7?
just found some at Hobby Lobby.
I’ve been doing this for years. I posted photos in many groups , and couldn’t believe the negative feedback. People saying how this will ruin your figures to which I reply… their toys… but I have been using the system and I’m not sure a better way . For larger figures, I buy ammo boxes. $15 ammo box at Walmart , sealed. I use those for gijoe classified .
How will it ruin your figures?
@@gbjanuary idk, people think the plastic on plastic I guess will eventually hurt the figures somehow? But these photos storage cases are acid free, and are made to preserve photos. So I don’t see any harm in it. I’ve found that the tape storage cases are even better.
@@GA0907 seen people complain about plastic on figures becoming brittle damaged due to humidity. Maybe because no temp in the case it will happen. I think that happens anywhere unless room it’s temp controlled.
Great solution :)
Super cool! But I never understood collectors who don’t display figs on shelves, (OR collectors who don’t un-package figs).
I gotta display mine out of box to appreciate em…
(I have about 180 6-7” figs, Black Series, Marvel Legends, DC Multiverse, GI Joe Classified, and MK 11 joints too.)
But man if u store figs this IS “legit cool”!🔥💪💪
Great way to keep those troopers together!! Great 👍 Video Buddy!
$14.99 at Ross 👍
Have to get me a few of those
Nice concept. But at 40$+ each... not sure. Yes, there are sales. Few and far between. Well identified tote and plastic baggies are as effective as the Micheals concept. Plus, in baggies, you can add any size figures.
Lol ..I'm sure you spend $40 for one or 2 figures so what's a little more for a storage bin..
If you watch they are always on sale for like 13 a pop
This is incredible! Right now I have NO idea where alot of my figures are! I'm in the process of decluttering, but I really need a place for my figures and the accessories! I will be looking for sales and coupons at my local Micheals! Thank you so much for sharing your valuable knowledge and helping us to enjoy the hobby!😅
Thrifty
Another awesome video. I saw proably the same post. Hoping they will fit my marvel legends, I have several black series as well. For build a figures and larger black series I will use smaller tubs. Maybe 8”x10”x5”
Dude, you are the man!!!!!!!!!!. I switched up my display a few months ago and stored my toys in zip-lock bags inside of a bin. When I went to look for them, I took them out. Some of my X-Men legs were warped. (I was mad but sad more than anything.) Anyway, they have this at Michael's. Buying some now. Thanks, dude.
I use that same style tote for my 3.75 inch figs..it looks a little tight for 6” for me..what I use a lot of as well to keep it all together is Plano tackle organizers for figures..you can get deep or shallow ones & put 3.75” or 6” figs.on them.I can make a trooper one,Jedi one,Mandalorian one, ect.& organize them that way.👍
I found some at Ross for 15 bux also. I put my extra gijoes in them. 5 fit. Lose ...great idea and yes. Only if you get them Alford 15 bux. Great to cry to a convention for trades or sales
Great idea! This morning I immediately called my local Michael's and put two on hold. I do 1:1.8 military, Black Series, and HALO. Now I have a space for everyone except the big Spartans. For a couple of years, I have been using the small tackle boxes for the extras that come with figures. Any hints on where to look for( Black Series and HALO) in the Knoxville area? I am going to be visiting over the 4th
Looks better than what I do. I have all my 6 inch Star Wars figures in a plastic grocery bag and their accessories in a sandwich bag. All my 3.75 inch Star Wars figures are in a plastic container with their accessories in a sandwich bag. When I’m looking for certain figures, I’m doing a lot of digging.
Excellent solution for loose figure storage. I just ordered some and Michael’s have them now $12.99. I appreciate Your content and sharing
Buy them while the go up for sale for like 12-13 bucks, also don’t forget military discount if you’re vet
A nice solution for the 3 3/4" figures. I'm trying to come up with a storage solution for the Neca 7" figures, and space for the accessories.
I did the ziplock bags as a kid with power of the force figures. If you had the 3.75/inch you could fit in 4 figures in each. The little boxes look like the plastic vhs tape containers. If had those old vhs containers could reuse for this purpose.
Not too bad.
Nice, might even label each box on upside whats inside, then you don't have to pull out several to find what you want. Or do they come with labels? And you got totes now for other stuff, and lots of little bags! LOL
I picked these up a while back and found they have trouble fitting a lot of 1/12 characters with big head or hairpieces especially Marvel Legends. These do definitely work for vintage Joes or Star Wars. From another channel, the stacking pencil boxes also from Micheals work a lot better for 1/12.
Thats really feaking cool!! Will have to let us know if theres a solution like this for 3 3/4 figures! Thats one I need help with! Thank you again for sharing
I walked right by an endcap loaded with these today and never looked twice..... I get home, watch this vid, and sigh...
Wow awesome now I can retire the ziplock bags
Good video you saved a lot of collectors from using ziplocks 😁👍🏼
I also use these and love them. Glad more people know about them. What I have been on the hunt though for is something similar for 7” figures like mcfarlane. If you or anyone else knows of anything please let me know
Thats a super great find. Awesome vid, thanks for sharing! I wish i had an option like this for these dang McFarlane figures LOL
Outside of the massive amount of figs I first noticed the Brian Shaw tee👍🏼🤙🏼😀
If I didn't have the Falcon or Vader carrying case, then maybe I would get those Greg, but for now i'm happy with what I got, awesome video.
Great video myfriend.. definitely have to pic me one or two of these up.. congrats again on hitting 22k in 2022...
Impressive...most impressive! New subscriber earned. I love how practical plastic Tupperware can be for toys and boarded comics! Use enough storage; a Toy Hunter's mentality.
I'm a Ziploc guy to this is just awesome and versatile nicer than all my 15 gallon tubs😢
This is a great idea! I’d label all of them to know names of all. There are some strange names in Star Wars. Lol you can’t escape plastic in todays world, but could reduce amount use.
Great idea . I’m having a figure storage problem also good timing . Love toy collecting but eventually you run out of space lol
I love your collection. Where did you get all those Star Wars figurines from? Cool collection 😎
That's an awesome idea I've gotta do some work to my stuff I'm running outta room and your not a true collector if u don't have a zip lock tote even my gf has a Disney tote
Amazing, thanks for sharing, going to Michael's tomorrow.
These are great. May hit up my local Michaels in the next couple days to see if I can find them at that price. Doing ziplocks in a tote is great, but I agree it’s a pain if you wanna find a specific figure and have to dig through dozens to find it. Thanks for the video!
My favorite part of the video 'this isn't my only pile, I got a big pile.' Haha. I need to look into those. I got stuff every. Great vid
Thank you sir! You have solved a long term problem for me. Star Wars figures from different eras have a new home!
This won’t work for me, but very satisfying to watch… so sweet ❤
Might have to use this for my Hot Toys accessories so I can stop digging into the boxes whenever I want to change things up!
