This pitcher recovering from elbow surgery: 1. Started the 50-50 club 2. Led the National League in home runs 3. Reached 40-40 on a walkoff grand slam 4. Reached 50-50 on a bonkers 6-for-6, hat trick (3 HRs) game where he and his team scored 20 runs. Not only is he like the Superman of baseball, he embodied what it was like for the Dodgers to reach the playoffs with all the injuries across the roster and _win._ Their WS MVP had a bad ankle, and as it turns out, a broken rib, and he was absolutely clutch with a 4-game homer streak and a walkoff grand slam. It is absolutely unreal when you think about it. Even when Shohei hurt his shoulder on a bad slide, he stepped up to the plate to help rally the team. I cannot wait to see him on the mound as a Dodger.
It was a pleasure watching the power and speed of Ohtani this season, If they walk him he'll steal a base, and if they pitch to him he'll hit a HR, Shohei turns a single into a double or sometimes a triple with a stolen base, either way it's a nightmare and a bad percentage for the pitchers, and when Shohei is on base he knows how to spot a ball their machanic and habits because he's a pitcher himself, Shohei's success rate in SBs shows this. I agree, but one thing: Ohtani is not once in a generation player, he's the only one in the history. No other baseball player can play like him. None. Ohtani can pitch at Cy Young level, can steal 20+, hit for 40+ HR at the same time. Don't forget, he can also play outfield with cannon arm. He played 54 games as an outfielder in 2013, while pitching. He now has a power to hit 50+HR constantly. Not just 2024, but in 2023, If he kept playing as a hitter, he was on pace to hit 50+HR (2023: 44HR in 135 games, 2024: 45HR in 135 games and ended hitting 54HR in 159 games).
Ohtani got injured after game 2 in the WS, he was playing with one good arm after he dislocated his shoulder, (I played baseball in HS and injured my arm It was difficult to lift or swing the bat), but his teammates wanted him out there, a heart of a Champion.
He is the second player to win the award in both leagues since Frank Robinson of the 1961 Sin City Reds and 1966 Baltimore Orioles, and the first in history to win it two years in a row across leagues. No complaints!Congratulations on winning the 'full vote' award, Shohei!
that 6-6 game vs the marlins was PROBABLY the best offensive game by a single player of all time. and he was little 2 steps away from recording a cycle if he was safe on that one play where he ran for a triple. That would have for sure made it the best offensive game of all time. he woulda had 6-6, 10 RBIs, 3 home runs, 2 steals, a cycle that day. And the record setting 50-50 game.
Shohei Ohtani ends up leading the National League in: Home runs (54) RBI (130) On-base percentage (.390) Slugging percentage (.646) OPS (1.036) Runs (134) Extra-base hits (99) Total bases (411) He will also lead in advanced metrics such as bWAR, fWAR, OPS+, wRC+. He finishes second in batting average, stolen bases, hits, walks and intentional walks 🐐
The NMVP, who hit 54 home runs this year and posted a 50-50 record, is returning next year as a pitcher? Can't wait to see him pitch. It is always exciting to see Ohtani!
I understand the frustration of Mets Fans that Lindor lost to a "DH," but keep in mind that although all Ohtani did was Bat, he created the 50/50 club and beyond, and without that production, the Dodgers' Post Season Status would've been questionable. Ohtani more than deserves this, Congrats to him!
In one season.... - The First Dodger to hit 50+ HR - The First person in MLB history to reach 50/50 in a season - Wins World Series title in his first post season appearance - first person to win 3 unanimous MVP awards( he was also the first to have 2 unanimous MVP awards) - Second player to win MVP in both leagues - First DH to win MVP and there will be more to come as a Dodger.
As a Giants fan, I really like Ohtani because he’s one of a kind player and was kinda cool I got to see him hit a home run in person for my very first time at Oracle Park EVER this season!!
So happy for Shohei, as great as the MVP is it was even greater to see Ohtani win a Championship, the Goat 🐐 has his title. In Japan, Ohtani was known as "yakyū shōnen" (野球少年; "baseball boy")-a kid who lives, eats and breathes baseball ⚾️
The greatest all around baseball player ever to live he's the first one to 50/50 he has one 3 unanimous MVP's something that 27,000 baseball players could never do
I love watching these videos of pitchers not turning around to see if Ohtani hit a home run off their pitch. Also, some right fielders remain frozen in their position without looking for the ball.
🎉Congratulations SHOHEI!!! Well deserved unanimous MVP. You never cease to amaze the baseball world. You are a gift to BASEBALL & made lot of people who left watching baseball to come back and also new fans who got intrigued with SHO-TIME
Ohtani in his first season with the Dodgers exceeded all expectations, he's an injured pitcher almost won a battling title and a triple crown, broke dozens of records, led almost every offensive statistics, went 50-50 and won a World Series Championship.
New Yorkers/Lindor fangirls really have some fascinating logic. They want you to fall for the idea that their beloved Lindor deserved the NL MVP, yet they conveniently gloss over a few tiny details-like, oh, maybe the fact that he didn’t even make the All-Star team, the All-MLB first team, or even as a gold glove finalist, despite their fixation on his defensive prowess compared to that "non-defending" Ohtani. And let's not forget the little issue of WAR. You know, that pesky stat where Ohtani casually outshines him with a whopping 9.2 bWAR compared to Lindor’s 6.9. These casuals twist themselves into mental pretzels trying to say Ohtani doesn’t deserve MVP just because he’s a DH. Never mind that Ohtani's stats leave Lindor eating dust in any offensive metric you care to name: OPS, AVG, RBI, OBP, OPS+…yep, all Ohtani. And yes, let's just sweep under the rug the trivial detail that Ohtani didn't merely have an MVP season like few others. No, he casually decided to craft one of the most legendary seasons in the annals of baseball history with his 50/50 milestone, and he did this in arguably the greatest regular season game ever, with his 6-for-6 performance featuring 3 homers, 10 RBI, 5 XBH, and 2 SB to clinch the postseason. Enough said, Ohtani is obviously the true MVP.

I was devasated when he got injured and could'nt pitch this year, But to see his all around talent with speed and power and make history going 50-50 that's as great as it gets.
First DH to win MVP!! Amazing!
Dunno about that.
What an incredible player. People should appreciate him, because he’s a once in a generation player. Just amazing.
I’ve always known he was an amazing player but to see him do it for us is something special
Bellinger has the same injury and played the whole ws with it
Well deserved, congratulations to Ohtani
A man who can only win MVP with a full vote.
40/40 walk-off grandslam then proceeds to go create the first 50/50 club, and yet gunning for the first 60/60. This guy is nuts
3 unanimous MVPs and he's only 30 years old. Ohtani is already a MLB Legend and one of the greatest to ever play the game.
He is the second player to win the award in both leagues since Frank Robinson of the 1961 Sin City Reds and 1966 Baltimore Orioles, and the first in history to win it two years in a row across leagues.
No complaints!Congratulations on winning the 'full vote' award, Shohei!
also the second person to have 3 MVPs in their career and the only one to have more than 1 unanimous MVP awarded to him.
that 6-6 game vs the marlins was PROBABLY the best offensive game by a single player of all time. and he was little 2 steps away from recording a cycle if he was safe on that one play where he ran for a triple. That would have for sure made it the best offensive game of all time.
he woulda had 6-6, 10 RBIs, 3 home runs, 2 steals, a cycle that day. And the record setting 50-50 game.
Congratulations👏👍🎊🎉🥳💐🍾🥂🎆🎇To Shohei Ohtani Winning His Third MVP Award He Deserves It
Shohei Ohtani ends up leading the National League in:
Home runs (54)
RBI (130)
On-base percentage (.390)
Slugging percentage (.646)
OPS (1.036)
Runs (134)
Extra-base hits (99)
Total bases (411)
He will also lead in advanced metrics such as bWAR, fWAR, OPS+, wRC+. He finishes second in batting average, stolen bases, hits, walks and intentional walks 🐐
Ohtani racking them trophies up! 🌟🏆
The NMVP, who hit 54 home runs this year and posted a 50-50 record, is returning next year as a pitcher?
Can't wait to see him pitch. It is always exciting to see Ohtani!
A great player of historic proportions. A humble man, but a dedicated and focused baseball player. Well deserved.
Congratulations, Shohei Otani. He won MVP in both leagues. I'm rooting for you from Japan.
In one season....
- The First Dodger to hit 50+ HR
- The First person in MLB history to reach 50/50 in a season
- Wins World Series title in his first post season appearance
- first person to win 3 unanimous MVP awards( he was also the first to have 2 unanimous MVP awards)
- Second player to win MVP in both leagues
- First DH to win MVP
and there will be more to come as a Dodger.
As a Giants fan, I really like Ohtani because he’s one of a kind player and was kinda cool I got to see him hit a home run in person for my very first time at Oracle Park EVER this season!!
You're also a Padres fan.
Boston red Sox who has dice k matsuaka win a world series in 2007 but I doubt his Japanese & marketing he does for MLB has infinate value!
We are witnessing a piece of history. Congratulations Shohei!
He is the best.
He is the reason now i am watching baseball again,he makes it exciting and he is the team i love Dodgers!!
Yep! I started watching baseball again because of him.
SHOHEI GOATANI 🐐🐐🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
unicorn🦄
Please be healthy Ohtani so i can look up to more amazing year ❤❤
No baseball player in history has three unanimous MVP' that means he's the best ever to play the game out of 27,000 players
Ohtani 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏
🐐 of all 🐐s
One of a kind player with a one of a kind season. ❤🎉
GOAT 🐐
babe ruth could never do this. SHOTIME IS THE GOAT
Joy and blessings to the great player, the legend is not over yet!
Expected and deserved. 3rd unanimous MVP and first MVP ever as DH
Dunno about that.
Ohtani is the only player to win 3 Unanimous MVPS. Just another day at the office for the greatest baseball player to ever play.
Best player in the world congratulations Shohei Ohtani on winning the NL MVP your first MVP in the National League your third MVP this year 🎉🎉👏👏❤
Beautiful swing!
I always wish Shohei good health
Much deserved,
I wish you continued success without getting injured.
🐐👑×10times.
The greatest all around baseball player ever to live he's the first one to 50/50 he has one 3 unanimous MVP's something that 27,000 baseball players could never do
Well deserved. He's LA for life.
He worth it ❤❤❤😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
I love watching these videos of pitchers not turning around to see if Ohtani hit a home run off their pitch. Also, some right fielders remain frozen in their position without looking for the ball.
🎉Congratulations SHOHEI!!! Well deserved unanimous MVP. You never cease to amaze the baseball world. You are a gift to BASEBALL & made lot of people who left watching baseball to come back and also new fans who got intrigued with SHO-TIME
There's no need to describe best or highest Japanese. He's one of the best ever- period. And definitely the best from the planet Krypton.
TBE. Who can pitch AND bat in today's competive baseball world? ONLY ONE, Shohei Ohtani
I’m a grown man watching this laying on my stomach with my feet in the air because I love Ohtani
LGD
Ichiro said before "I can imagine to see him 50 home runs as a batter and 20 wins as a pitcher every other season". That is going to be a reality..
First injured pitcher to ever win mvp while rehabbing
Hard to believe with all the doubters calling him overrated/overpaid, he ended up being underrated and still underpaid
And he’s just getting started!
Congratulations to Shohei Otani!
Thank you to everyone in America.
Please continue to watch over Shohei Otani.
With love from Japan.♥
Got his ring, now you can’t dispute him being an all time great.
And WBC as well.
@@BobSaysWhat22 WBC isn't really that important tbh, was a cool moment though.
Judge is cute😂
Juan Soto was too😂
@@jennykawadamack3509If Judge played in the National league,
He not only wins MVP
But would have more hits, Homer's and Rbi, than the entire National league,
Winning a easy Triple Crown 👑
Honor of the baseball🇯🇵
Season summary:
1. Tommy John surgery
2. Joins new team and league
3. Gets married
4. Interpreter scandal
5. Passes multiple single season Japanese record (RBI, HR, SB)
6. Walk off grand slam to join 40-40 club
7. Creates the 50-50 club with arguably the best single game in MLB history
8. Wins first WS ring
What else did I miss?
Forgot to add that he got the first ever MVP as a DH
@@-.TS.- Number 7. That statline is basically playing a game from "THE BIGS". Look it up, arcade MLB game.
