This is by far hands down the ultimate dream boat. You did not play up how much open space and breath there is in this boat. From the pilot house to the berths - So incredibly clean and wide open. All the spaces breathe and are well lit. Even the deck is perfection.
All of Dashew's designs are incredible!!! As He and his wife sailed the seven seas they continually made improvements on each and every design they had. Looks like Sundeer needs a bit of TLC by her future owner. Oh for the want of some extra cash. thx Jordan for bringing this legendary yacht to our attention. keep 'em comin' bro.
Great tour, thank you! Always love Dashew's designs: unusual and surprising, but not weird; super practical but still beautifully done. So much light and so many views from below--just a wonderful space.
The boat has one of the best assortment of Barient winches one will ever come across. I was on this boat in Alameda at the boat show in 95 or 96, truly an amazing display of the Dashews talent.
Love this, I escape the news, covid, politics, investment, cyber currency, blockchain, gold, silver madness and enjoy seeing another old well-built dream someone enjoyed and will make a new owner dream happily for some time. Makes me smile.

Well Jordan, it is a beautifully kept boat. And the selling price is great. I’m sure someone will love this boat. For me, I just can’t really find to much I like in the layout for a 65’ boat. For that size, I think the designer could have gotten so much more out of it. Otherwise, we’ll kept and affordable. Thanks for the video 🤙
the designer Steve and his wife got so much more out of her. each successive design built upon her lines and abilities. The Dashews SAILED her. Incredible yacht!!
On some levels I agree, but to know the Dashew's is to know all the designs, Deerfoot, SunDeer, then the grand finally Beowulf, (aluminum hull) are all designed as easy handling, fast, single couple cruisers. Well designed for that purpose...you can find youtube videos of Beowulf doing amazing speeds in transit from the South Pacific to Hawaii 300 mile days using water ballast tanks and twin spinakers....absolutely fantastic!...Wish I had one like her!
Hi there, really enjoy your boat tours... best camera angles and shots. The perspective is top notch, and the narration with explainations superb. Well done!
Unusual rare features that are halmarks of this boat were not mentioned. Although props to you for touring this amazing famous Dashew sailboat. It's like touring a Lamborghini. Look at an Oyster 64 with a beam of 17.7 ft. Even the Oyster 58 has a beam of 16ft. This Dashew is a speed demon. Notice the beam is 1/4 the length? narrow arrow for amazing speed. Mention the hull design is unique for stability. This boat can do more than 300nm a day on passages. Other 64s do about 170-240 NM daily average in passage. The interior layout is not designed for luxurious comfort, but for passage making practicality. In other words practically comfortable. The design layout & features are more similar to expedition yachts rather than cruising yachts. This is why some don't like layout.
Feel the wind in your Air? Don’t worry later on in your life you will grow your Air out and start looking scraggly, congrats on your new baby. There is another SunDeer in Florida on the other coast.
Hey! I own one. lol They are great yachts my father gave me it after I remarried as a wedding present. And my daughters love it. Dad and I still sail together. He bought a Sunreef 80 about a year before Covid broke out that we ended up sailing to Hawaii on as a family that I now own. He’s now looking for a motor yacht (and a big one at that). When he had my brothers on a zoom call he told them of his plans and almost at the same time they said “Sis’s new boat” lol.

Wow, what a great boat and I love the layout. I've been wanting to take off and leisurely sail around the world and if I win Megabucks, this would be the boat that I would want to do the circumnavigation (with a crew of a couple Russian supermodels, of course). My only complaint is all the mirrors...I could never walk around nude on the boat because I would disgust myself. 😁
Your video left me with questions; why is the chain locker so far aft? Why does the pilothouse have no helm, why did you not show the engine area, what was the purpose of the venting system in the forward stb locker?
Hey Jordan, just want to correct your use of the term Pullman berth. That bed is just a double berth on the port side. A Pullman berth is a single bed that is usually pulled down from the overhead or the bulkhead and can be stowed out of the way when not in use. Originally named from use on train Pullman carriages.
Lots of cool and smart solutions (eg a galley that seems to be able to be use during a real heel). Also, I assume the quality is OK, but I had forgotten the early 90's tacky style: the design of the sofas and nav chair (in leather?) and the mirrors everywhere makes me think of Red Light brothel. If it was up to me I'd totally redesigned the forward cabin with separate head and shower, coz who needs 8 feet of vanity? Besides, at the asking price (and the size) I'd expect that all lines are routed back to the cockpit. Further, and as Jordan noted, where are the space for solar panels,,, after all, we live in the 2020's. All in all I have a hard time marking this as a full bred "Expedition" boat. To have such a tag it needs to be built and specked for extreme environments (read: high north or south) which it is NOT (heating, enclosed cockpit, etc). Also, where to deck or stove the Highfield-like dingy (ie, the car)? So for those who splash around in a backyard pool (ie the Caribbean/Pacifics) it seems OK with some mods.
Great boat for long distance sailing/cruising and exploring places where you don't have to worry about being charged for marinas/moorings etc. I bet she's fast!
Yet another beautiful boat but I had to check that I wasn't playing it at half speed, it seems to be a very much more relaxed presentation style than usual. All in all a great video of a great boat.
The boat looks set up for a couple. The forward cabin is comfortable and the saloon is vast, but there are a few oddities. The galley looks tight, and so does the walkway through the chart table area. The curved cupboards mean that the shelf space above is unusable. The sailing instruments are spread around the boat not handy to the helms. The covered cockpit area only allows steering by autopilot. Lastly, the hull and superstructure look like steel or aluminium. It would be good to know what it is.
I loved this boat! Great use of space and very safe! The only thing I didn't like was the mirrored back bulkheads in the aft cabins. I did love the one on the forward bulkhead in the master cabin though!
There is an autopilot control there. What more do you need? You're obviously not a sailor because to sail properly you need to see the sail set and the waves. You also need to feel the wind. So there is no helm inside the pilot-house except the auto-helm, correct?
Nice boat.
I'll take it. Would a third-party, out of state check work?
How big was the engine? How many gallons in tank?
Is it a pullman berth tho? You said the bed in the master was pullman, but is clearly attached to a foundation with drawer storage. It doesn’t pull down, which is what a pullman berth would do…..
No step on smoked glass hatches, aaaggghh splat!
Very light boat for its length , and decent sail area / displacement . Will be sailing well in light winds . Could easily do 200 nautical miles in a day . Great price too. Light wind performance confirmed by speed diagram on Yacht World : www.yachtworld.com/boats/1993/sundeer-64-pilothouse-3821125/
Just skip thru the photos and you will find a windspeed vs boat speed diagram : 4 to 5 knots boat speed in 5 knots TWS is very good for a monohull !
Only thing missing is the baby and her beautiful mom.
If someone gives me 5 million $ then I will buy this boat for a bit over half a million $. I really will! : - ) It truly is a beautiful boat.
I haven’t watched one of your videos in a while. I was hoping you would have started to include the price up front. The price is what either makes it incredible or a looser.
Amazing.
I would love to see how the curved cabinet lids are formed.
I'm not sure how well the EPIRB works due to the antenna being in the up right position which would be in the activated position
How much sailing experience do you have?
Is it really a pilothouse if it doesn't include a helm station?
this magnificent boat could become a splendid refit project, with a total expenditure of 1.5 million it would have a 64 feet at half the market value for a similar size
watch at 2x, you're welcome
