How to Replace License Plate Light Bulb - Hyundai Elantra (2017/2018)

Noticed that your license plate lights are not working? Got a warning/ticket from the police about your burnt out license plate bulb? Learn here how to Replace the license plate light bulb on your 2017 Hyundai Elantra / 2018 Hyundai Elantra will take you less than 5 minutes. You don't need any tools besides what your car already comes with.
Tools Needed: Flathead screwdriver
Instructions
1. Open the trunk
2. License plate lights are right above the license plate. Locate them.
3. Put the edge of the flathead screwdriver against the inner edge of the light and slide it towards the outside of the car. The light should come out.
4. Now disconnect the electrical connector by pinching it and pull the light out.
5. Now use the screwdriver to pry out the lens from the bulb holder. You only need to pry out 2 out of the 4 tabs.
6. Push down and out on the bulb and it will pop right out. You may have to wiggle the bulb a little bit.
7. Get the new bulb and push it down in the bulb holder.
8. Press the lens back on the bulb holder. You will heard the tabs click in place.
9. Now connect the electrical connector. Slide the bulb holder and push it. You will hear a click sound.
10. Now put the the light back in its position. Insert the outer edge of the light in first and then push it towards outside of the car and the inner edge should now be able to inserted back in position.

Very helpful except a very important mention that if it’s an led bulb it has to be inserted a specific way or it won’t work. I installed both bulbs the opposite way they were supposed to be inserted. I’m assuming regular bulbs can be inserted both ways? Pain in the ass to take a part and put back together but eventually figured it out.

Same car but can’t pull the cover down
Its probably siezed. Try wiggling it. In and out, in and out a few times and it should come right out. Don't be too aggressive as you may chip the lens. Good luck!

@@VirarAutomotive yes the parking light in the front headlight region. I have Hyundai i20 2019 version where it is a bit challenging to insert a new parking bulb into the slot. Ur guidance is much appreciated in this regard

Way to leave out the part where you have to remove the whole inner liner and plastic cover that goes over the lip (that you just magically already have off at the start of the video). Useless
IF you watch the whole video you will notice that you DON'T have to take off any of that. Using just a flathead screwdriver you can get the entire light housing off and replace the bulb. Maybe watch the video before commenting. Multiple people have benefited from this video before and that makes me happy. But not only will you not watch the video, but you will go on and say something harsh like the video is useless and dissuade others from watching, leaning and benefiting from the video. Very sad.
@@VirarAutomotive Guess it's time to pay for more positive comments. I watched the whole video. Problem is you start with the job 90% done. At no point in your video do you remove the plastic cover that goes OVER the lights that you "so easily" removed. Here's a photo of what it ACTUALLY looks like ( imgur.com/a/GdR2yHG ). And guess what? To get that off...wait for it... You have to remove the trunk liner, both lights, the tag, and the back faceplate of the trunk.
Most people work on cars that aren't missing pieces. But hey what ever is easier for you guys right?

Are you working on a 2017-2018 Hyundai Elantra ? The title clearly states the video is for that car, not a generic video. That is the whole point of the channel is to make videos for specific vehicle model, not generic videos. The picture you sent me is of a Genesis
