this is the most DIFFICULT CASE IVE EVER PUT ON A PHONE, literally ridiculous, had me on the verge of a mental breakdown as I turned my thumbs purple
I just got one yesterday for my new 24 Ultra and seriously thought I was going to lose it trying to get it on.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who had to put up a FIGHT to put this case on! And the instruction pictures made no sense to me so I’m grateful this video was made lol!

After trying to "click" it in and after reading all the comments, I realized it is not force that you need to use. The rubber of the back slips over the hard lip and I used a credit card to slip the back around the lip a little at a time. It wasn't hard but it takes some patience to figure it out. Thanks to the person who mentioned a guitar pic. That would work, too.

These comments make me feel so much better. I genuinely could not understand how this guy was able to place the case on so easily while I sat here struggling like an idiot. One of the comments suggested using a guitar pic. I have zero talents and therefore do not own a guitar pic, but I did have a birthday cake shaped gift card and used the "candle" side to help left lift the edges while I tucked in the top piece. Worked. Fingers hurt though. A bit traumatized from this experience.

To put this case on quickly and effortlessly, I used a wooden toothpick and lift up the silicone flaps on the outer case. Then run the toothpick along the case as you install the inner piece. Start from the charging port to the bottom two corners and just follow the video’s instructions using the toothpick and you’re good. Took me about 3 minutes to install but definitely the hardest case I ever had to put on

Great tip! Still required some patience and effort but it lifted the rubber which allowed me to insert the plastic in place.

Sitting here at my desk I have a finger nail clipper close by and it has the nail file in it. I used that and took about 30 seconds. Thanks for the toothpick idea.

Dude, I was screaming in the Best Buy parking (in my car) putting this fukin thing on. Brutal. Fingers were sore the rest of the day. That aside, it’s a solid case.

Thank you so much for this. I had one of these cases shipped from the USA to the UK and when it arrived, I couldn’t understand the picturegrams in the instructions and there was no written version to be able to read. So I’m very grateful for this video and the case is now fitted

Been using otterbox defender since iphone 6.. never looked back.. the warranty is worth it hands down
The reason I love this case charging version over the normal otter defender the matter is harder and has not gone out of shape on the edges like the normal was ALWAYS DOES over time.
As hard as it is to put on its totally worth it the case is honestly the best one I have ever owned

I used the dull side of a pocket knife blade and just slid it along the crease. Worked fine, just be careful.
I used this trick and it worked like an absolute CHARM. A guitar pick was perfect. The case was on my phone in less than 10mins.

This can be easy with the right tool. Mine was a paperclip. I installed the Defender case an iPhone 14 Pro Max which also had an OtterBox screen protector. The secret was to slide the rubber lip up and over the screen protector case using a small paperclip. It bent the paperclip but without that, it would have destroyed my hands.

This case is time consuming to install !! Don’t be mislead by how easy he made it seem !! It took me near 7 minutes to put this thing on , Plus a few French words . 😂
Offers protection like a boss , but it is NOT user friendly to put on phone !

Literally bleeding from trying to get this case on. Lifted my nail off my thumb trying to get the rubber over the top. Now I know why the guy in the store wouldn’t do it for me 😂

Managed to get it on but really tough. Time will tell how it protects my phone. Next time, I may just get Commuter series to save myself the frustration.

This is not as simple as it appears!! The case material is impossibly rigid, and does not pop in with gentle pressure. I tried for 10 minutes and ended up with very sore fingers. I ended up using a Cricut weeding tool to pull the edges over the frame, scared to death I’d damage my new iPhone.

Why otterbox change the way to install cases and the way they work?
Ok case is hard to put on. But start from left or right side push in is what worked for me made it easy
Incredibly frustrating. Threw a tantrum like a 3 year old! Finally got it in 20 mins
If you follow this directions it’s very difficult and the directions in the box is no better. The way I did it was way easier though hard to explain. Basically just open up the top edge of the phone case like a sandwich and slide the phone in from the top. The bottom half is basically always closed and you just have to seal the top corners and then the sides

Just got this in the mail today, my first ever OtterBox for my iPhone 14. From unboxing to installation took no more than 2 minutes, I have no idea how people are struggling so much with their cases. I almost didn’t purchase one because of all the reviews saying how hard the installation was
I only made my finger nails bleed and said every cuss word in the book. Worth it! 😂
What an incredibly hard case to put on. The one over my old iPhone 7 wasn't nearly as hard as this one. I kept thinking I must have turned the frame 180° in the wrong direction or had the wrong side out. God help me if or when I have to take it off to have the battery changed.

GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE KINDA LONG NAILS, PUSH YOUR INDEX FINGER NAIL DOWN ON THE PLASTIC LID, AND WITH YOUR THUMB NAIL PICK OUTWARD THE RUBBER CASE PART AND IT WILL “LIP” ONTO THE LID DO THIS IN A CIRCLE.
Just got mine and I’m going to return it to Amazon. Bloody hard to get it on!
I work in cellular services and use a stapler remover with a slight bend at the end. Makes it so much easier 😅

This case is extremely difficult to put on and I have MANY otterbox cases and have Never had this issue. Otterbox you should be ashamed. I still was not able to put the top portion on my new Iphone 14

I’ve had this case a for a year (rubbish though , glass back still got shattered from a meter drop) and today I learned how to actually do this 😑

I see that Otterbox still haven't included any padding on the back from the inside, meaning the glass on the back of the iPhone will still break when the phone falls down on the backside.

I used a debit card to slide wile I push down on the plastic too much easier
I got a mislabeled cover so I kept trying to peel off the entire slip cover 😅

If y’all are referring to the iPhone 14 case, it’s because they are selling you an iPhone 13 case for an iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 may have the same screen size, but the Iphone 14 is actually thicker than the IPhone 13, that’s why you are having these difficulties. Otter should be ashamed of themselves, first they eliminate the built in screen protector, then they try and reel you in with a $40 case compatible screen protector, because they don’t have the correct size case out to market yet. Yup, Otter took the plunge, y’all are now referred to as SUCKERS, in corporate lingo.

Use a paper clip to complete the last part. Getting the rubber over the plastic lid requires you to run it along the edge to lift the rubber over the front

Not sure if I’m going to cry or throw my new phone out of the window. Maybe both.
There were tears, there was swearing, there were a couple of (hopefully empty - I got the case on before we found out) threats made to family members offering “advice”, however I eventually got the case on.
10 out of 10 for the case, I was so worked up I threw my phone up in the air in triumph. Not a scratch on it…
