I have the same case and struggled just as much to put the case on, but after using it a few days, it is definitely my new favorite case. It’s got the thinness of the symmetry and the protection of an actual defender without the bulk
Purchased this case after watching this video. This is the case I’ve been wanting OtterBox to make for the last couple of iterations of the iPhone. It is difficult to put on but when it is on the slimmest and the protection are exactly what I’ve been looking for in design. Also, requested the free holster (I don’t wear the holster). This is the best case for me. Yes its little bulky and kinda hard to put on but I feel confident with this even if I drop my phone. Side is grippy and has a decent magnet.
I love this case, it keeps me feeling like my iPhone is in a secure safe but not too bulky case which is my favorite and for a 1000$ phone, I’d want to keep it with the best protection!😂
After my first attempt at installing this case I literally thought, hmmm, maybe that top piece doesn’t go back on. That’s when I proceeded to look for an installation video. Not uber bulky and it fits in my pocket enough. Thanks for the vid & review, super helpful.

I bought this case for my 14 pro max 2 months ago,I couldn't put it on and was getting so frustrated,I decided to watch a video on UA-cam. I saw this guy also having a hard time putting it on but finally I did it 😅 normally I'm switching cases every couple a days but this one stayed on for a whole month before I had the courage to try to get it off 😂 but this case I'd worth the trouble. You know you're phone is a 100% secured against accidentele drops!

I got the same one but with clear in the back for my 14 PM and it feels pretty good. Best bast of it, it’s the holster. Putting the phone itself in your pockets will get you naked while walking out the door, but using the holster it’s an amazing combo.

I purchased this case from Best Buy. I actually installed it in-store JUST to see how it looked first and it honestly only took me about 2-3 minutes to install. I don’t think it’s a huge deal at all 🤷🏽♂️

I used an old plastic gift card to assist with the installation. I used the corner of the card to pull up the case edging so I could snap the case together. I had the case installed in about 2 - 3 minutes. Case has a great fit on the phone. I love it and will buy another one if this one ever breaks/wears out. My only gripe with the case is the mute switch on the side of the phone. It’s deep and hard to get to.

Yo! 💪🏼 I guess many people won’t agree, but the Otterbox Defender XT is my new favorite case for my iPhone 14 Pro - The fit, the grip/texture, Magsafe of course (every case should have Magsafe), the port cover, the lanyard hole which quickly allows you to attach a wrist strap which I‘m into (underrated!), it checks all the boxes for me personally - yes, it’s difficult to install but it’s worth it in my opinion. Why would I care how difficult the installation was when it’s staying on my phone, I‘m happy with it, and not coming off afterwards? 👍🏼
Edit: + Otterbox HUGELY improved it when it comes to the fit and grip/texture compared to the predecessor (13 series), I can say because I also got this for my 13 Pro Max.

I have this case on my 13 pro max and I wish they would have made the 13 series case like the 14 series, looks better and has better grip.

I have the Defender Pro on my iPhone 14 Pro. I like it but i have been considering the Defender Pro XT Clear because of its MagSafe capability.
Pro tip for install: take the handle end of non grip fingernail clippers and use that to slide under the rubber to get it over the lid. Shouldn’t take you more than 30 seconds.

I love the otterbox defender series. Every new phone I get, I case it up with a defender series product.
Yeah…I had one of these for my iPhone 12 Max. I was honestly disappointed with it compared to other Otterbox cases I had for my 5S and 8+. I didn't like how slick the back was on that case. As you found out, it's a pain to put on. If there's a positive thing to say about it. It's that this is the most "adult" looking case out there. Whereas most cases, that I feel, seem to be aimed at young people.
Just got this today. It was a beast to put. I like the fit and grip. I’m sure it will survive drops. I’ve had defender products on every phone and table. None of them ever cracked.

Yo so glad you did this finally Tee. My recommendation: basically force it in, as if it's a regular case. That's what's worked for me. Now, taking it out -- yeah, you have to do the two-part two-step. It IS a pain, but I love the feel and security of this case. not issues so far....installation not withstanding. 🤣💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Definitely not great putting on….however, I’ve had otterboxs since probably iphone6. IphoneX they started this line. And like the iPhone X was incredible so is this xt line. It’s the best of both worlds, not overly thick and clunky yet protective. It’s very durable, doesn’t have any pull on any of the sides and holds up for years. With the exception to the charger port cover coming off. The case is bomb proof. I hade the same one on iPhone X from up until this past September when I upgraded to 14pro. Case took everything. I’m a construction worker. Take it off once a week to clean along with phone. Everything is a compromise.

Hey does anyone know if the clear case compared to the black is a lot more slippery? Looks like the back of the black one is a little rubbery but can’t tell from the pics…is it the exact same as the clear material wise?
Tip for those of you struggling to install:
Use a small screwdriver or something to pry the rubber over the top part. Not ideal, but it saved me a ton of time
This did the trick. Had a tiny screwdriver I used to pull the rubber over. Took me forever figuring it out until finally I decided I’ll just look it up.
I used my guitar pick and it worked fine

got this case for my iphone 14 pro with a panzer protection glass. 5th day in my hands, dropped the phone while putting it in my pocket, like half a meter drop. Screen shattered. I am returning it. Used to be an ottebox fan for iphone 7 and 8. Not anymore. On this one, i feel the hard plastic part was to blame for my shattered screen.
Does it come with a clip for your belt. ?

Yes it’s true. The case is very annoying to install. I went to Apple Store and asked the sales person to install for me. It’s an awesome case. But my tampered glass came off the moment the case was put onto my iPhone 14 Pro. Well no choice cos the case is too tightly fitted and the front cover of the case compressed the tampered glass and forced it to came off. Anyways I loved tight fitting snug cases. This is the kind of case I’m looking for though. 😆

I have otterbox commuter iPhone 13 but I want to buy another one the the depender XT . I was about to buy this in Amazon but when I read the reviews it say it’s hard to put it on and by listening to your UA-cam I change my mind not to buy it. I’ll stick to my otterbox cummuter instead.

I have this exact case…. TIP FOR EVERYONE HERE: use a guitar pick (or something similar) to pry the rubber sides outwards. It just took me 10 seconds to install, ezpz 😉
Hey T, you can take out the phone out of the case by pulling one corner out first, then the rest of the case, I used to do that with my iphone 13 pro, same by putting the phone in the case , just need a little bit of force 😅👍

I have used otter box defender series cases since iphone 4 if you spending so much on a phone spending around $60 for a case like this is more than worth it just wish this one came with the belt clip like the defender series and wish otter box would go back to having a screen protector as part of the case that is one of my fav feature when you buy the case no need to now go and get a screen protector.
One of my favorite cases to use when I use a iPhone or the life proof fre case
took me about as long to put it on too and after all that hassle it isnt coming off till i upgrade to a new phone.
So what’s the big difference between the XT and the regular defender? Obviously the XT doesn’t have the extra piece but why did they make this? What’s the difference? Also how well does it hold together? The rubber holds the plastic down and keeps it from separating? My concern would be the rubber sort of peeling off the grooves as I get that occasionally on a corner of my regular defender.
I now have the XT case and I like it a lot. It fits together very well and is much easier to install than others have said. Obviously everyone’s experience will be a bit different but I had no problems at all installing this case in about one minute. The sides have a decent rubber grip. My only complaint is the back is actually like plastic and very slippery. I feel they could have done some stippling or rubber texture to the back to give it some grip at least in hands. My favorite thing about the regular defender is the rubber exterior. It gives an excellent grip in the hands as well as on surfaces. Unfortunately with the regular defender the runner material loosens or stretches and the corners start to sag. The XT would be perfect in my opinion and I would pay double what I paid for it if they could just give the back some texture. I may attempt to stipple the back myself.

I have the regular Denfender Pro case and I bought this case the Denfender Pro XT in the lavender sky color and it looks great on my new iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB in Gold I just bought 3 weeks ago. Best Buy hapd this case in black on Friday but it was sold out on Saturday so I ordered it on Amazon for $49.00 and got it yesterday on Sunday. And I love this case and I love looking at the color of my phone and you can see the top of the gold trim though the clear border to snaps in the case. And it was very, very easy to put my phone in this case it took me the same about under a minute to install it on my phone!!! 😁📱❤️ I don't see why so many people are having a hard time putting this case on the phone??? 📱🤔📱🤔📱🤔 And I also took the phone out 3 times to make sure there was absolutely no visible dust I could see in the back of the case and it still was very easy to take on and off the phone.

Damn Tee. Hate that you didn't like the Defender XT enough to recommend. But I get you. That case is a PITA to install & uninstall, and that price....my God.
BUT......for me it works. If you're willing to wait a few weeks or months, the price usually comes down on Amazon. Check prices on the previous versions; plus there's used options, if that's your thing.
Yeah, this case isn't for everyone. Only if you're into rugged cases or more protection with a slim-ish design. AND can catch a deal or can accept a used/refurbished model on Amazon.

The Otterbox Defender Pro case is much easier to install and slightly thicker than the XT. Thanks very much for showing some love for the Otterbox Defender series. I will say that I got so frustrated that I returned it for the Pro version.

The otterbox Fre is the only way to go it is waterproof drop proof cover the hole phone products the screen etc you should do a Review on the Fre
What you are missing is that you can get a holster for it which none of the others you like have!!!!!
I just bought this case on amazon for just $25!!! Yes it was the blue edition which I don't care about looks wise plus Blue is my favorite color but I find this worth it for $25!!!!

Pelican might have something similar? I’m not a fan of that brand though. One of the cases I bought for my 8+ left a scratch on the back somehow.

Lol the Time-lapse had me rolling 😂, but for real the case is nice, but my plastic ring that folds under the rubber, cracked in half so you have to be very delicate with it which is a first for OtterBox 🤷🏾♂️ 😬

I don’t think this case is better then the regular defender. The regular defender atleast has a cover for the mute switch button and just feels more protective overall.

One my biggest concerns with this case is the plastic ring scratching the edges of the screen/frame of the phone over time…
I have the xt for my 13 pro max and on that ring on the part where it touches the phone there is a soft rubber material that lines the ring. I had that same fear. I would assume they would do the same thing for the 14
I’ve had the regular defender on my iPhone 13 for about a year. I took it off recently to clean the phone and the phone is chipped on the top bottom and both sides from the Otterbox hard plastic frame rubbing against it. I’ve been using OtterBox cases for years and my phones usually come out of them in pristine condition. Very disappointed that a case like the Defender would actually damage the phone like this.

I had an Apple Watch Series 6 with an otterbox case on it that has a plastic rim around the screen and it scratched the corners of my screen over time!!
I think OTTERBOX are offering Lifetime Warranty for that case which is why it’s expensive enough am I right?

I have it for the 14 pro. Otterbox redesigned the case, I am a big fan of it. I find myself going back to it all the time. MagSafe is pretty solid, slim, clicky buttons, and great fit!

Most don’t have the charger port cover. That for me is the difference.

As for this case why I had it in my previous phones something so simple shouldn’t take 30 mins I’m not kidding it was pain separate I had to use a pocket knife to give a budge but once you in rock solid you don’t want to remove strong durable feels good in the hands “ladies you know the procedures”😂 but not the strongest I admit there other strong cases you can buy that more indestructible

Defender series also for drop protection i drilled hole and strung string to attach to my belt . I’m a construction and often phone falls out of my pocket . My iphone 11 looks new .
