*Robert wants to know, "Has anyone ever bred and raised nerite snails before?"* To learn more about them, see our top 5 algae eaters video: ua-cam.com/video/h94Jp82Dk_U/v-deo.html
Actually yes, in my 40 gal freshwater I had them lay eggs and breed. Started with 8 ended up giving away over 200+
Since they need brackish to breed, it would be interesting to see Zenzo try this in one of his brackish setups. I'll only have "glitter" in my tanks :)
Fun fact - they change gender at least once over their life. I had one lay no eggs for six months and I was relieved that I had a "male". Come Christmas, I had glitter on every inch of wood in that tank. STILL laying eggs as of August. Another that was laying eggs on rock in another tank for the first few months stopped over the winter - no eggs since. Have a lid for these! I left one lid cracked open this week and found my nerite on the counter, 2 feet away (he/she was ok).
I've had two in my tank for the last 7 years, lots of eggs, but never any viable offspring.
@@dodgeramboy918 in freshwater??
@@rara5212 yep. The thing about snails, is they will lay eggs, but as long as there is enough food "algae" for them to eat, they will breed.
Lets get this video a ton of likes so they can see we want more unboxings with Robert!
Robert is my FAVORITE to watch. He always makes me smile!!
100000%
This really made me realize how much I miss watching unboxings but more importantly you and Jimmy
So glad to see Robert again!
What I realized with videos like this is how much we learn because we get to see so many species and hear details on how to care for them. Fun stuff!
Ahhh, an unboxing. It's like having an old friend over for dinner. Good times, we should do this more often.
It would be cool, if everyone of your retail partners across the country. If you pre released your fish list to them, so they could order them themselves and then when a video like this dropped on your channel. Our local fish store would possibly also have the same fish. It would drive people to the lfs and you can educate people on the fish.
Very interesting idea.
I like the way you think
Good idea
I reckon that if I owned a Fish store, I'd have the Aquarium Co-op podcast going all the time in the Background.
I second the motion, possible to make it happen cory?
Please please please do more unboxings with Rob (and Jimmy)! They're my favorite. Idgaf if it's the same species every time. They're just fun.
ALL ROBERT!!! Woohoo!!! Excellent video sir. Now we need an unboxing of unusual fish starring Robert.
More Robert! More Robert! More Robert!
Oh what a treat this has been. So refreshing to see you Robert. Hope the baby is doing well.
This was greatly appreciated! Please do more. Such a knowledgeable hobbyist !
YAY! A Robert unboxing is so fun!! Thank you. 😁
So much fun!
This was a treat for sure. I love the unboxing videos with Rob! Have gone back and watched the older ones.
Great video - lots of practical info about the fish. I was very excited to get to come to Aquarium Coop for the first time ever (from Canada) about two weeks ago. The store and the products didn’t disappoint - it's all awesome!
Miss the Jimmy - Robert combo.
Nice video Robert.
That L260's eye is freaky! It's like lookin back at you. Hahaha
Thanks Robert, Now I want a platty tank with ember tetras, cory's, sparkling tetras, amazon puffers, rummy nose tetras, cardinal tetras, some hatchets. Great video.
Yasssssssssss!!!! We need more Robert in our lives!!!!
I currently have a breeding pair of wild caught Pterophyllum Leopoldi. They are my favourite. It took me over 6 months though to get hold of a group of 8 juveniles about 15 months ago. I don't know how common they are in the US, but in The Netherlands they sure are hard to resource.
What water parameters are you getting yours to spawn in? I have a group of wild caught ones and have been trying to get them to spawn but no luck so far.
@@andysfishden6506 Hi Andy, first off, it took me 15 months to raise the group to full sized adults. I had all 8 of them in a heavily planted 120L (35 gallon?) tank, with large pieces of bogwood, Echinodorus Bleheri and Valisneria Gigantea and some larger Anubias species On CO2 (no liquid fertilizers) at a PH of 7.2, temperature 26°C (79°F). So they would not be able to see each other all the time as the tank would be a little small to house 8 of them otherwise. Been feeding them mainly Sera Vipan Nature flakes, Sera Vipagran Nature granules, the occasional frozen red mosquito larvae and live daphnia. I did monthly 30% water changes with dechlorinated tapwater, TDS 280, PH 8.0.
I got them at 3" in may 2021, and from approximately month 3 there were 2 of them that would hang out together and fight off the others all the time. These two were the fastest growing as they got to the food first also. So I was hoping those stronger two would be come a pair later on.
Early july 2022 temperature rose above 30°C (86°F) from the heat wave we had here and one afternoon as I got out of work I noticed about 200 eggs on a Valisneria leave. The spawning pair were indeed the earlier mentioned 2 largest angels. The other 6 angels were chased away by the breeding pair so I moved those 6 to a 200L tank. The breeding pair are still in the 120L heavily planted tank. As I went on a holiday the next week I decided to leave the parents to care for the fry. I had a friend feed all my fish, and he fed Hikari First Bites to the fry but they eventually were eaten by the parents after he noticed he stressed out the parents one day coming in the fish room fast and not too careful. No worries as I was sure they would spawn again, and so they did, 4 weeks after the initial spawning.
I took the eggs out this time, put them in an aerated 1L food graded bucket with Esha2000. As eggs started to fungus exponentially I did decide to add methylene blue to the water after 2 days. Too late I assume as fungus spread over large batches of eggs rapidly. So, next time I will use methylene blue from the start.
So, eggs hatched after 68-72 hours at 30-26°C. The fry got free swimming after 6 days at 26°C. I currently am at day 4 after free swimming and have 50-60 fry at 26°C in good health, feeding them microworms, egg yoke and baby brine shrimp. Doing daily 30% water changes with dechlorinated tap water. I also tried Hikari First Bites but they wouldn't take that so far.
@@dennisbinkhorst2039 thanks for the information. I've had my group of six for a little over two years, they get fed a couple times a day a variety of flakes, pellets and frozen brine shrimp and daphnia. There are a couple that I have thought a couple times seemed like they might be a pair, but I have not seen any spawning activity, such as cleaning a site or anything. I do keep them right at 80°F so maybe I will try bumping them up a few degrees and see if that works. Your water doesn't seem too different than mine, TDS is real close. I had been using RO water to try and bring the TDS down thinking maybe they need it low like discus. They are kept in a tank with lots of plants, various crypts, jungle val and sword plants, so they have plenty of places to hide and line of sight breaks. They are very skittish fish, I have to be careful approaching their tank or they all dart and hide in the plants, until throw food in the tank.
@@andysfishden6506 Yes, I'd advise you to go with a temperature raise over the course of a few days. Maybe power feed them those days accomodating with some frozen red mosquito larvae and live foods if you can get that. I did feed my pair 4 times a day quite heavily the 4-5 days before they spawned the second time.
Yay for Robert and the unboxing!
Love unboxing Videos which Robert because he is just chill

Been waiting for this for a Long time , great to see what go in the shop
The little red fish are so beautiful
Good to see you again Robert.....Love your fish unboxings
Absolutely love unboxing videos!!!
Love to see Robert.
My first Cory's as as youth new to the hobby were the spotted cory's. I'm 66 now and I'm just finding out why my Cory's never lasted. They prefer to be in groups of 3 or more. Use to only buy 1 occasionally 2. Thanks for the info.
They do really well with 10+. The biggest issue is usually temperature (~74 degrees or lower) and oxygenation, meaning just make sure they have an air stone or two. Best of luck!
Enjoy these unboxings! Thank you!
I wish I wasn't so far away because I would love to visit the retail store to buy fish and talk fish...you are all so knowledgeable and your passion shines through:)
unboxing is fun and educational. i love the little tidbits of info about each species. and they are all so pretty even when they are pale from shipping *-*

Great info you gave. Thank you and good to c u ✌🏻
Miss these
Love the look on those Super Red A.
At 7:31 you asked about nerite breeding. I had bought a tiger nerite and put it in my 5 gallon freshwater tank. It laid eggs like normal for months. But then one day there was several baby nerites in my tank! I don't know how it happened, but they were definitely nerites. The weird thing is they didn't grow really. Maybe a tiny bit,but they died. It's a first for me
It's about time,,, thanks for going back to the roots of this AWESOME channel 👍💯
I’ve been waiting for another one of these!
Thanks to see new 🐟 be good week
I was wondering the same about the nerite right before you said that!

What are the red and yellow fish in the B roll for the small angelfish.
Can beat a good ol fashioned unboxing.
Robert the best!!!!
Hey Robert, any chance you know where I can buy those Sera bags?
I have a 10 gallon community tank I keep for mollies and only two Cory catfish and they are panda cat fish and mine are super active and they have distinct personalities and I am planning on upgrading the tank but I’m moving so that’s going to be one of my first investments is upgrading to a 40-50 gallon tank
I like the pisto mcmasteri that thing is great looking
Pandas are one of my favorite cories!
Do more unboxing videos .Thank you .
What's the best rapashy for hillstream loaches and corys
Are your amber tetras about the same size as the cardinal tetras? I have 10 cardinals but i want to get 10 of a different tetra. The ambers look nice.
What are the yellow and red fish at 3:15?
Direct onto content ......... Lovely content buddy ♥
I freaking missed these
Rummy nose has to be my favourite tetra
I have a single mystery snail which kept laying egg hutches and so far I have 2 baby mystery snails, I always thought you needed a male and female
I try to get some pea puffer but it was in quarantine when I saw them at local pet store. They won’t sell it till there free from quarantine tank but I waited too long. Video of puffer didn’t work it didn’t open. Just wondering what different from Pea puffer and Amazon puffer? Cory can you do a video about all puffer fish for pets? Thank you
What are the other fish in the angel fish B roll?
What are those red and yellow fish at 3:01
Hey I need some information on a few things if anyone can answer them, so my ph is low and I have a planted tank I just wanted if crushed coral would help as a media? Just need some help
Finally! 💘
Do you need more than one snail to lay eggs, because I have tanks with 1 in each and I've never seen any eggs.
It has been so hard to get rummy noses locally. The local stores are saying they don't last long and die within a week of receiving them
Cool -fish 👍👍
Do you think that a Green bristlenose Pleco, 6 Von Rio's, 5 Guppy's, and a Dwarf Gourami, would be a good idea in a 20 gallon tank?
This is what happens when you hang around Cory...you start sounding like him😄
Thay look so healthy wish thay wor like that in sum shops
great vid
can you ship to Aus?
Nice video buddy
Oh’ my gosh..! You didnt get any red devil’s or A Couple Dovii.?..😄
Your brother Robert is great, you look alike Cory
