    Just picked up my third one. The first was pure hell. I'm old, didn't have enough damned sense to watch this 5 weeks ago. Have a good one.

    there are three screws on the bottom of the unit to take the rear cover off. no need to use a pry tool. safer and faster to unscrew.

    I just picked one of those the other day! Now I know what I am in for. LOL! Great timing.
    Thanks for the video. I hope you are feeling better these days.

    Love the video's Moose Scrapper! Thinking about going scrapping too. More of a gold kinda guy (that's what you get with favorite series as Gold Rush Alaska ;) Anyhow, building a stockpile of gold plated materials, simcards, printercartridge foils etc. Thanks a bunch! And sorry to hear about your broken leg, get well soon! Peace out, from the Netherlands :)

      InsomniacNL Thanks! And good luck with your scrapping! I enjoy the hobby quite a bit, just remember, you need a LOT of material to start processing!

    Enjoyed your video....The gov is selling 50 Functional all in one Imacs.....How much Gold, copper, aluminum is in that and how much could I get for that?...

    Excellent video! I was curious about the solid piece of copper. At the end you measured the weight of all the copper together and said it was #2 copper. It looks like a #1 copper - like clean copper pipe.

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      Anthony DiRenzo it does look like that but it has a finish on it. When you scratch it it kind of flaked off unlike just oxidation.

    Thanks for the video. Questions: do you sell the parts to someone to extract the gold? I assume you sell the other metals to a salvage yard. I have a old iMac I should have tried fixing. I didn’t know what I do now. I have an eBay account so I can sell the CD player there

    how do you convince people to give you old computers?

      My ads are for secure destruction of digital information from computers, cell phones, pdas, laptops, tablets, etc. I have been serving my area for some time and have had a lot of repeat customers that have let me use them as references like law firms and medical offices where confidentiality are very important. I also offer the service of removing the hard drive on site for them.

    remember way before we found out there's too much of a good thing my brother had both this massive copper heatsink (brick) for his motherboard. Eventually his computer stopped working. and it was because the copper heatsink was so heavy it split the CPU ship down the middle and bent the motherboard. ie there is a rating on motherboards and if you go over it bye bye. I'd guess that copper brick is worth alot now but he just won't scrap it. (Zalman I think)

    do you put the screen for seperate recycle ? as they have rare earth metals inside touch screens, not sure if that apple was a touch screen also the ribbon cable that touch the screen from the boards on the back of screen are usually silver or gold

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      Hi there, I have not scrapped a touch screen yet but when I do I will surely put it aside. Thanks!

    So is it better to sell the motherboard and power source as is or take them all apart? Which gives more money?

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      ***** Hi and thanks for watching! The first rule of scrapping is the same no matter what you are scrapping. Scrap is the LOWEST value of an item. If it works, and even sometimes if it does not work, you WILL make more money selling it. Best of luck to you!

  • @941jays
    @941jays 9 років тому

    have you ever done a garage sale sweep of everything? You don't pay....just haul away...did that 2 days ago and got a 300.00 dollar Mercedes Benz fuse panel that looks brand new

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      Jay Stevens That's freaking awesome! I have done clean ups of sales after they are done and the owners just want it all gone. Are you talking about taking everything before they try to sell the stuff? How does that work?

    • @941jays
      @941jays 9 років тому

      they just get tired of looking at the stuff or theyre in a time crunch. I put an add on craigslist, they called and said I could have it all...clothing, electronics, working and not plus scrap crap

    Hey Moose, new subscriber here. I was wondering if scrapping calculators is worth it. I couldn't find if you made a video or not.

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      Bricky Hi and thanks for watching! Some calculators are and some are not. The scientific calculators often have a big gold plated board in the while the other simpler function calculators most often do not. Its one of things you have to crack open to find out each time.

    How much $$ approximately for scrap parts /metal for iMac 🖥 2009?

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  6 років тому

      far less than selling it as a non working unit. Really hard to give a scrap value on that specifically.

    how do you separate yellow brass from other brass?

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      Jay Stevens Yellow brass goes in one bucket, red in another.

    • @moosescrapper5928
      @moosescrapper5928  9 років тому

      Moose Scrapper lol, just kidding. I take a file to it. THe color will hit you right off, and red brass is harder than copper. Plated brass like faucets and plug ends I do the file test as well if it passes the magnet test. I end up with 4 brass buckets. 1 yellow, 1 plated yellow, 1 red, and 1 dirty that has the bits I just do not have the time to mess with.

    Taking to long. Basic screws is simple and need to spend less time on it. Get to the metal of value and how to extract to pure form..
