Thanks for the lesson. I just needed to remove the pulley and belt to make it easier for the garage to weld a big crack in the forks on the frame were the stand is bolted to. However I might clean it up and re grease the bearings the same as you did while I am at it.
Good stuff. I have to replace my chain. It blew out. Wish I could have seen you fumble around with the chain a little more. I would guess one of the reasons my chain jumped and snapped, would be no grease. I have never greased it. Going to attempt this maneuver in the next week or so.
read up on motorcycle chain tension, too tight is no good and will actually slow you down, too loose will jump all the time, make sure you have some sort of wheel lock on\around the lug nuts, it'll save a lot of headaches

Very helpful. Just got a cady and it's hard to find anything on them!
