55 yards is not a safe distance to shoot high pressure air tanks.

Mete Unal he said he was 60 or 70 yards back and the bottle only missed by less than 2 or 3 yards so I think my original figure was about right.
If he was all the way out to 70 yards than 65 isn't safe.

We used to set those portable propane tanks up in front of a fire and shoot them. They aren't pressurized as much as these air tanks but they make a hell of a fireball.

You didn't chamber another round after you shot the .308
It's good practice to have that 2nd shot ready if needed. An air bottle can and will attack you if they are just wounded. But I think you just learned that important lesson.

are you kidding me? what's air gonna do? I assume that's a troll comment... the concussion forces of HPA at close distance to a human body would be brutal.. the g shock of that rapid escape of highly compressed air is ABSOLUTELY violant... when a tank goes off its rarely throws shrapnel normally it just splits and causes a near instant release of compressed gas... that concussion is what causes fatality when tanks are over filled or a tank fails... that tank going off close to a human if it just let go and ruptured would be absolutely violant and likely would end in death... HPA is not something to be taken lightly... we was blowing up Co2 tanks by using are commercial 6000psi tanks and filling them while standing behind 3 inch thick lexan windows... at between 2600 and 2800 psi the tanks would bust... we ran solder down in the burst disks to the wouldn't bust... an aluminum tank going off at 2500ish psi is insanely powerful.. even the little 6oz tanks are flipping crazy when they let go... we want to set off some slightly damaged 80cf 3000psi tanks problem is 6000psi won't pop them we have tried... we have also found that over compressed helium at 3500psi ran in to the Co2 tanks they still pop at 2400 to 2600psi but the boom is MUCH MUCH MORE violent and the concussion is MUCH MUCH MORE intense... like 2x more violent... in fact even 20 feet away and behind the lexan blast shields it still gave 3 or the 4 people nose bleeds... it felt like we had been punched in the face by a boxer... that blast wave was no joke... I'll post some videos of us setting them off, remember a 3000psi tank is enough . set off Co2 tanks.. we have not had one that went 2700psi before I went off and most do it at between 2300 and 2500.. because if anyone decides to do it and remember if you fill them slowly that the valve will blow out at about 2600psi.. if you want the tank to rupture you need to fill it to 2000psi and then open the valve wide open then the tank will let go on the side splitting wide open... if you fill it to slowly and the valve let's go that valve comes out hard enough to blow slap through a 1980 Mazda car door and keep on going to we have no idea we couldn't find it.. point is don't think "air" can't kill it absolutely can..

Does make you wonder what one would be like if it broke due to compromised structure, all that energy was looking for the easiest way out which was through that hole the bullet made. But Id guess if there was say a structural fissure up the seam or such of the bottle it would burst open far more violently.

Carbon or glass wrapped tanks new have always been around $150-200 depending on brand for 68/3000 and 38/4500 tanks. You might be thinking of used tanks or solid aluminum HPA tanks (~$90 USD) or far cheaper CO2 tanks. (~$25 for a 20 oz)
I recall that some brands like Angel Air were around $250 before you even bought the regulator. Ditto for the smart parts branded tank. I have a 5k psi 50 ci Evil tank that was around that money to the original buyer.

Dimes On His Eyes you must have got a clearance price then. I got almost all of mine used at huge discount because I am a tightwad, but I've helped run paintball shops and done a fair amount of horse trading. Tanks are the expensive piece of gear. Usually the best way to get a good deal on gear is find an ebay auction for a crappy entry level paintball gun with a pile of tanks a good hopper, etc. Often you will get the whole lot for the price of the gun, which I just give away.

Years ago the company that I worked for was loading a 40' trailer with oxygen and nitrogen cylinders to transport to a different location when a 10 cf cylinder with 1800 psi fell off the truck and broke the valve off of it,after hitting the ground it rebounded under the truck and hit so hard that 30,000 pounds of cylinders that were unsecured on the trailer all fell over. If you want to get a great video for You Tube keep on shooting compressed gas cylinders holding 3500 psi with high powered rifle, but put the camera in a concrete bunker so we all can see what happens when 10+# missile comes in your front side and exits through your spine at 200 MPH.

After shooting the tanks with the Texan, I was concerned when you were right next to the tank that was hit, as it was most likely dented and had potential for rupturing. The .308 finished the job. We now know that shooting at tanks charged with hpa is definitely a "do not try this at home" experiment. Your videos continue to entertain.

I know of a case where a large oxy tank (about 2500 psi) fell off a pickup. Valve caught the tail gate and busted off. The tank flipped around came up under the pickup, flipping the truck completely over. You need to know that 1 square foot of 2000 psi will lift 144 ton. I'm not saying, "don't do." But, like owning a firearm, know what you're doing before you pull the trigger.

The action in this video was highly wreckless.
I have been involved in the paintball industry for over a decade and a half and have personally seen what the misuse of these air tanks can do.
    3000psi is no joke.
Transport trucks and tractor tires carry 125psi, anyone ever been beside one as it bursts? Deafening, at the very least. A 68ci bottle like the one's in the video filled to 3000psi carries enough potential energy to kill a man, even at a reasonable distance. I bet some of that shrapnel flew apart from that tank at velocities greater than your CCI Stangers.

      On a side note.
Set up go pro, 68ci/4500psi tank filled to 4000psi , slather tank with 10w30, evacuate to 250+ yards and execute with .308...???
      High pressure air+oil=explosion

Jeffrey Brooks i want to know what idiot filled them for him if they were already damaged. i know i wouldnt want to be the guy putting 3500psi into a sketchy tank. and a tractor tire will kill you if it bursts. my friends cousin worked for a tire service that specialized in tractor tires until he forgot to pay attention to the pressure and it exploded. he was decapitated by the rim and the other worker had broken ribs and ruptured eardrums from tire shrapnel and the blast pressure. they were changing a tire at a guys farm and did not have a cage around it while filling.

John Wick exactly.more energy. However slow and heavy does not penetrate hard things as well as fast does. velocity trumps mass in that situation. A heavy , projectile may well punch deeper into meat though.

Less power than 45 ACP +P pistol. No airgun on the world cant scratch these tanks.Even 30-06 with 3000 ft-ibf of energy and 3x more speed, went through just 1 tank and stop in the other . That is 6 x power of this air rifle at smaller caliber/more ft ibf per square inch.

Die hard Republican Trumpwingsman. This guy is just doing stupid, unsafe things with guns that give teens dumb ideas. He says, don't try it. What happens when you tell kids, don't try it? It's just stupid but don't think a dislike means someone dislikes the guns. It's their usage and safety, manner they are used. That tank isn't paper that'll tell you how accurate you & rifle can shoot, and it sure isn't something to eat, or a threat. Just dumb stuff all over youtube.

I did expect the first gun to pierce the tank but thinking about it, it makes sense that it didn't. The full bottles have a lot of compressive strength built up in the walls and the built is imparting a tensile stress to the surface.

I can't help but think it this way, if your PCP rifle working at around the same pressure could send a projectile with enough energy to burst that tank, the tank could also send a shrapnel back to you and split your skull
