- In 1976 two British soldiers completed the first successful all military expedition to the summit of Everest. To celebrate this endeavour, the Army return 30 years later to conquer Everest once more. The plan: To tackle the peak via the treacherous "West Ridge", a notoriously dangerous climb that has only been completed by 19 people.

The first movie that mentions Hristo Prodanov! No foreign movie ever said about the first man climbed Everest from the deadliest west ridge alone with no supplemental oxygen. 👏🏻
Everest looks beautiful yet terrifying at the same time. She definitely makes it clear who the boss is.
Woody will have to wait three months for his next rub.
Wow amazing stuff never even knew this series exsisted really enjoyed it as although I have seen plenty on the north and south side the west ridge is a whole new board game and the risks far graeter. Also the Britsh army team give you a more "real" outlook than the Discovery programmes which although good always have a bit of a made for tv look to them. Thanks again for posting.
The true west ridge from Nepal basecamp up the Lho la, up the west shoulder and then staying on the ridge to the top is climbing the west ridge, this is lower west ridge onto the north face.
Respect that the arm were doing the lead climbing and not relying on Sherpa to do it.
eh? sherpas were helping them the whole way through...
Which arm?
What a joke 😂the army climbed ?? Who carried the heavy stuff ? Full of shit
Listening to the narrator, I can't help seeing images of a Monty Python sketch in my mind.
Tarja Simpanen yeah me too...could imagine a sketch at 21:57 where they bring the ladder followed by a kitchen sink followed by a lawnmower followed by etc etc😂
Or Bear Gryles
australians pioneered this route in 1982 (lincoln hall was on the trip but didnt make it to the top). they also did it without oxygen. is on utube
is this the north side route but the use the west ridge to summit??
Lincoln hall made it to the top...he got altitude attack while returni g down...
nice jounery to everest!
Why you didn’t try west ridge direct? It’s possible and no avalanche danger!
They put fresh ropes up each year.
holy shi t. they climbed from west.
without sherpas you aint nothing
Too much background drum music. Unfortunate.
Wish they did k2 instead
Nauseating commentary.
Just a tad too smooth!
Can not stand the solar adds.
This is a army and still they let the sherpa's do the hard and most dangerous work. I do not understand.
240p
Pfffft, I climbed a taller mountain than Everest. Alone, no ropes, no sherpas, just a few bottles of Firebrand wine and a little horker loaf. Highest peak in all of Tamriel, locals call it Dovahzul, "The Throat of the World".
