It play a big part in how "clean" the actions scenes are too. Minimal stuntman shoots means the camera can be focused on the action with less shaking or cuts to mask the stunt work.
I don't know if you noticed but at the end, when he took the dog, there was a note on the kennel that said it was supposed to be euthanized by the next day. So he didn't take someone elses dog, he actually saved it.
In case no one has mentioned it - the blood trails from the puppy indicates she was dying, but used her last strength to crawl towards John so she could be near him in her final moments.
The "Dinner reservation for 12" was just code when he was calling the clean up crew. You guys have to watch the next 2, they keep getting better and they expand on this underground world. Also Keanu did nearly all of the stunts and gun fighting, a stunt double was only used in a couple of scenes, the SUV hitting him being one.
The 12 also indicates the exact amount of men he killed in his house. The other scene where he tells Francis the Doorman to take the night off and that he lost 60 pounds since they've last seen is just another code for there's 27 guards. 60 lbs in non-freedom units is 27 KG.
That is not the quote though. John had been out for more than 2 years so the pencil killings happened way earlier, but we never got a timeframe for it. "I once saw him kill three men in bar, with a pencil...with a fucking pencil.
@Shaine White - very true. 100% agree. And in a reall life? Very possible with a pencil (or a sharp object), if you go for a jugural or something like the axillary vein. Under armpit? Man... Almost impossible to stop the bleeding. From any of them. You will be dead in no time, under a few minutes only (no time for any emergency services to come to the rescue).
LOVE watching people see this movie for the first time! You guys are so great! Yeah, he did all the gun maneuves AND the driving( he trained and earned certification to be legit). He wasn't allowed to do some of the physical stunts. He IS badass. You would really like John Wick 2.
Yeah, pretty sure they wouldn't let him get dropped off balconies or hit by cars... but other than that stuff, he did all his own fight scenes. He's been training in various martial arts for years and is heavily trained in the real gun tactics. Search UA-cam for Keanu running a 3-gun course... he's the real deal.
for the guy who asked "how?" when Viggo died. The stab wound there downward behind the clavicle would sever the Brachial artery, one of the largest arteries coming off the Aorta. Within seconds you become unconscious, blood pools around your right lung, and within a few minutes you can't breathe anymore as you basically down in your own blood
Buddy, the dinner reservation, was code for needing 12 bodies disposed of, that was funny though. Lol Also, Keanu was in his 50’s and performed 90% of his stunts in these movies.Wicks revenge tour wasn’t solely about the dog, it was what the dog represented, being a gift from his wife, knowing she was dying and thinking of him.
Imagine leaving a man to be executed, tied to a chair, hands behind his back and being suffocated by a bag, and not 2 minutes later he's got a fucking shotgun and he's intercepting your vehicle? Bro, John Wick ain't a man, he's a force of fucking nature.
This movie excels in the realistic action scenes, I especially love the attention to detail, like reloading the guns and improvising when they’re completely out of ammo. The writers also did an excellent job with the world building and lore to these films. Can’t wait for you guys to see 2 and 3.
John also aims downward when shooting a lot of the time, so at to avoid collateral damage by the bullet passing through the target and hitting someone else.
The lighting was clever in this movie too - it's not every scene, but sometimes. Whenever John is in blue, he's dangerous but not IN danger, (blue as he was digging up his guns), when it's red, he IS in danger (foreshow doing Perkins being in red at the bar) in the fight, and when it's yellow (in the Continental bar) he's neutral. That's why The Red Circle lighting kept going between blue and red as the advantages came and went for him. They do this in the second movie too - no spoilers from me here but a hint, they do it on the subway scene and when he faces more bounty hunters.
It is SO satisfying to call someone out and embarrass them in their own language. That moment of “you have no power here” and the look of realisation on their face is just one of the best feelings ever.
If you truly want to understand how well Keanu Reeves prepared for this film watch the videos of him doing martial arts training as well as pistol Target Training with Taran Butler who is one of the best competitive shooting instructors in the country on UA-cam. And remember he is over 50 and he did 90% of the stunt work and driving for his character., just think about that for a minute when you watch one of the John Wick film series
Someone on another reaction video noted that Viggo served his son, Iosef, the bottom shelf crap vodka in a cheap glass and even though he poured himself one, he never drank it WITH his son. Viggo just puts it back on the bar. Viggo punches his son, goes behind the bar, and then pours himself top end vodka in a top end glass and drinks it by himself. That's how low he thought of his son at that point.
Do keep in mind John has been racking up damage all through the movie, while Viggo is at 100%. He's also a mob boss, you don't get there in the criminal world without showing some strength, he's probably been in many fights.
Personally I liked how unceremonious John killing Iosef was, extremely fitting for the way he handles his business. No corny one liners no theatrical shit just headshot mid sentence and walks away lmao
The John Wick house is out here on Long Island in a very exclusive town called Mill Neck.. (at the end of Horseshoe road). The runway he practices driving on is at Republic airport, Farmingdale, NY... --- The Bellman's name is Charon. (Greek mythology, the ferryman who brings the souls of the living to the land of the dead.) -- You'll notice Charon is ALWAYS at his post no matter what time it is.
I hope I don't come off as offensive but; the obliviousness of the man in the white hoodie mixed with the the annoyance that his friend with the glasses has (at his obliviousness) is reaction gold.
Keanu Reeves thanks to his dedication to this role is the best gun and weapons trained actor in Hollywood Watch his training videos for the role. He does 90% of his own stunts. The only ones he doesn't do are falling down stairs, run over by a car or thrown over that drop in the club. He does all tge driving stunts. Virtually everything is him.
Fun fact: Originally, the movie had a different title, but since Keamu was so excited about it, in interviews during the press tour he kept saying "I am going to be in John Wick," and never mentioned the movie's actual title, the makers decided to change the title to John Wick. Also, when he was reviewing the script with the writer, he was so excited he was jumping around on the furniture, already starting to act out the movie like a child does when they are playing make belive.
I'd LOVE to see John Wick in his prime, all god-mode and shit, but I feel like this movie captured how animalistic, visceral and angry John was which is not a fortunate combo with his particular skillset and fresh out of fucks to give. Definitely one of the best movies ever.
I love how the bodyguard in the hot tub scene says he’s stuck babysitting Joseph, and Joseph argues that he’s no baby. Only to immediately yell out that he needs “another bottle”. Proving that he is in fact just a man child in need of a sitter!
An Iconic Classic. Lucky to see it in theaters when it came out. -Like others said, Keanu did the majority of the stunts, which you can tell because of the fact that in the fight scenes they go as long takes, few cuts. -In most of the gun fights, the reloads happen when the weapon would actually be empty. -Wick's main pistol was a Heckler & Koch P30L fitted with a custom compensator (so it reduces recoil) -The paperwork on the dog in the shelter said that it was scheduled to be destroyed later that day. -No return of Vigo, sadly; actor Michael Nyqvist died in 2017. -One of the directors (who also does the next 3) was Keanu's stunt double on THE MATRIX movies. I just found ur channel a few days ago and it’s now become one of my fave reaction channels. Doesn’t hurt that you’s aren’t bad too look at either 😊 😂 x
The best part about these movies is it’s more on the realistic side of action he gets tired, he struggles fighting some, he actually has to RELOAD, and he wounds actually affect him I love that normally it’s dude get shot jumps right back up 😂
One thing that makes me appreciate this movie even more is that it’s one of very few action movies that actually pays attention to the magazine size of weapons. If a gun has 6 rounds, it only gets in 6 shots before it’s either tossed aside or reloaded. Very few action films acknowledge magazine size unless it’s a plot point. Also the BTS stuff, training with Keanu is bad ass
Another thing that's scary about John Wick is that yeah, some dudes got a few hits in but keep in mind he's retired. He's been off duty for some time. We can only imagine what he was like in his prime
Yeah Keanu Reeves did most of his stunts and he practiced for hours with all the weapons because he wanted it to be as realistic as possible. So much respect to an actor or actress that is so dedicated to do that.
The knife was in the spot between Viggo's shoulder and neck angled in it should appears to major artery. Removing the blade will cause him to die within just a few seconds.
In the end Vigo had the knive in his shoulder, but it perforated the main artery in the shoulder. Without medical help you bleed to death in a few moments. Such anatomical knowledge is basic to people like John. :D
There is an artery that runs down your neck there. John stuck that knife down through the shoulder and severed it. Viggo is dead. Keanu did 90% of his own stunts. If you look it up there are clips on YT that show and talk about the training Keanu did to be able to shoot these scenes.
You can look up Keanus training videos. He does as many of his own stunts as possible. He trained in multiple types of martial arts and with guns for these movies, its crazy!
OK, I am a car guy, and here are the cars that you are asking about, his original car is a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback with the 429 cubic inch big block Ford, the car that Aurelio gave him at the chop shop is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with a 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet, the one that Winston gave him at the hotel is a Dodge Charger, not sure of the year, with a 5.7 Liter HEMI engine. I hope that helps.
The coins are only available to assassins and those to assist them , like the hotel and the doctor etc... , by the ones in charge at the table aka above the table ( which are the ones that run everything)
Check out the videos of him training at Taran tactical. He did almost all of his own stunts in this. The precision shooting he did was really him, no CGI. Of course it's all blanks but the fact is, he can shoot a gun. Very well.
"A Dinner reservation for 12" was telling the cleaners there were 12 bodies to be removed. Remember never to say incriminating things over an unsecured phone.😂
Make sure to check out our reaction to John Wick: Chapter 2 that just dropped! ua-cam.com/video/EFcZ4pS27K8/v-deo.html
You should definitely check out the movie No One Lives starring Luke Evans! He's the psychopath serial killer version of John Wick!
Bryce might think Pitbulls are badass, but you should google pitbull attack statistics, and pitbull shelter statistics
Keanu does almost all of the stunts in this movie himself. It's actually quite insane how diligently he trained.
It play a big part in how "clean" the actions scenes are too. Minimal stuntman shoots means the camera can be focused on the action with less shaking or cuts to mask the stunt work.
Ya he did so much gun training, made it feel more realistic
He trained for the Matrix with a broken vertebrae. They changed his moves for the neck injury! He still kicked ass.
Getting hit by cars and falling down stairs were the only thing he said no to as far as stunts.
At this point on the last movie he is actually John Wick, he trained to hard to do the movies he became the character.
I don't know if you noticed but at the end, when he took the dog, there was a note on the kennel that said it was supposed to be euthanized by the next day. So he didn't take someone elses dog, he actually saved it.
I never caught that, that's awesomr
He is PETAs greatest advocate 😂
Ah yes. Another movie that makes us ask ourselves: Willem Defoe or Willem Dafriend?
I always ask my self “Willem Defoe or Willem Debro?”
I could see him as a Bond villain

I'm always surprised at how many reactors misinterpret that scene.
I always thought they just dragged the dog next to him, but now I'm just sad😭
My 2 year old puppy did the same thing when she was hit by a car. One of the most painful things in my life.
@@iceman10129 I'm sorry to hear. My condolences😥
Yeah you can tell the trail has pawprints, means poor doggy was walking to him and wasn't dragged.
"he stole John Wick's car, and killed his dog"
"Oh"
You immediately understand John is a badass.
I think it would be quite merited for a “shit” to follow the “oh”, but it works so well to just leave it as implied.
And even more is said when the one sided conversation with Wick ends in a silent hang up. “What did he say? “. “Enough.”
Best line in the whole movie 😂
