It's true, and was very tragic. I remember being very invested in this contest and listening to it in class on my phone (when cell phones still had built-in FM tuners)
In the painful ways to uh. "Stop being" section, you forgot Hisashi Ouchi. Long story short, he recieved a massive dose of radiation after a nuclear criticality incident. He recieved 20 Sievers of radiation (almost 2.5x times the lethal dose) in a couple milliseconds (20 thousand times more than what a person should get in a year), his body completely lost the ability to repair itself, and effectively felt his body *rot* while he was still alive. Every single organ he had effectively stopped functioning, except the heart and lungs. Entire digestive system was gone. Skin couldnt repair ifself and eventually started peeling off. By the end of this ordeal, he had lived for 86 days after the original incident.

Jennifer Strange also had a very rare condition called ADH Syndrome which caused her body to produce way too much anti diuretic hormones which causes her body to hold back water. In addition to that, she wouldn’t be able to urinate, have any bowel movements, and vomit at all. This worsened her hyponatremia because sodium (or natrium) creates an osmotic gradient; where there’s sodium, water is attracted to it. On an atomic level, this is the oxygen being attracted to the sodium in her body. Because of this, the consumption of large amounts of water wasn’t just an additive risk, but a multiplicative one. Her whole body will swell, which means her brain will swell to a point where it will crush against her skull, causing brain damage which will lead to seizures, hypoxemia, which will lead to death in a pool of her own body waste because she consumed too much water.
The guy who died from his DIY parachute apparently died of a heart attack before he reached the ground, soooo i guess his soul decided to bail out early-
He was most likely a HVAC-R guy. 02 is a refrigerant used for some larger systems commonly used in hospitals sometimes and can also be used for cryogenics considering it was a hospital. Also those tanks are super thick so it’s crazy unlucky it broke on him. Nothing he could have done except test with a tool before instead of believing another persons word but we do it everyday. Trades workers deserve the big bucks.
My boss's friend went skydiving to celebrate her honeymoon a few years back. Her parachute failed during the dive and her fiance helplessly watched her plummet to her death.
