    My racquet of choice, and I've been on quite a journey before i finally settled on this one. Most of my racquets over the past few years have been 18x20 string patterns. I loved the 18x20 version of this one, but the 16x19 still gives you the same excellent control with some added spin, perhaps a little more power, and a slightly higher launch angle.
    I've added 2 grams of lead total at 3 and 9. String it with volkl cyclone 17g yellow at 50 pounds, or 18g also yellow, at 52 pounds.
    Love this racquet.

    Hey guys, please review the Artengo TR 960 Control tour. There are two versions, the 16x19 and the 18x20.

    TF40 315 is my choice and loving it as a low powered frame.
    5:50 great comment on the sweetspot. Can't agree more.

    Have you guys found that being at a high level and trying different racquets constantly hurts your game in any way or gets you to want something different racquet wise? I feel like it happens to me. I have my main sticks but I love trying new ones whenever they come out, but it always gets me complaining about my main stick and I’ll attempt to switch then run back to my trusty go-to LOL JW if you guys run into this problem at all or something similar.

      Haha Charlie, I feel ya! My new thing is to just try endless new strings to try and stop myself from new racquets 😂

      @@gregbishopmav I’ve been playing the string game as well haha especially hybrids!

      In my case it doesn't really affect it too much. I can adapt and change very quickly. I think Areg was getting slighy shoulder pain at some point because we were playing with so many racket over a very short period of time. Though now we're both just fine.

    I'm thinking of getting this one! I liked the previous version but the 18x20 stringbed is just too low-powered for me sadly and the launch angle feels so different. I love 16x19 and 16x20 the most. Your comments are interesting though, very nuanced. It's impossible really for any stock racquet to suit a large proportion of people so I think modification is necessary for almost any racquet. That's something I've come to realize recently!

    I liked this frame very much (after playing with GVTMP, SPMP and Blade V8). It's now my racket of choice.

    Hi guys can you compare this to the Ezone 98 2022?

  • @gregbishopmav
    @gregbishopmav 2 роки тому +3

    I wanted to like this stick so bad but I didn't... at all. Oddly, the foam filling was just too much. I play with a brace and a ridiculous dampener, so the muted/dead feeling should've been my thing, but it just wasn't. I've decided this racquet is for people that hit slice/flat 2hbh despite swinging for top (medvedev/norrie/de minaur/kyrgios).
    Cheers for another great review guys!

    I would suggest a lower tension to get extra power and a more consistent string bed. Open string patterns on 98s do not perform well north of 50lbs

    @monkabove 2 роки тому +4

    I don’t get why anyone would want a control frame with an open string pattern. I love my TF40 305 18x20 - never felt it was underpowered or didn’t give me decent spin with correct technique. Still prefer the Gravity Pro though 🤤
    Great review as always. You guys are crushing it!

    Hey guy s- great channel! I've noticed that you always seem to use 1.30 gauge string - is that because its supplied by the academy you train at or is it simply that both if you prefer thicker strings over 1.25 or 1.20? If so, why the preference?

    • @gladiatorstribe
      @gladiatorstribe  2 роки тому +1

      Mainly cuz we use the strings we play with. We go for the thicker gauge simply because they last longer 😉

    Still waiting for TF to release something that really sets them apart - I guess this wasn't it.
    Currently playing with the new VCorePro-D 18/20 and I agree, what is the point of a control racquet with an open string pattern. Go for broke!
    It makes me wonder why the new Blade 18/20 is practically being given away here in CAN, they're over-stocked everywhere.

    Excellent review gents! This racquet is a bit low powered. Yes, you can add lead but people might as well just buy a heavier or more powerful racquet to begin with...

  • @cchanyam
    @cchanyam 2 роки тому +1

    Guys! I seriously echo what you have just said in the video. I bought this a couple months ago and couldn't get myself used to it. I had problems with finding clean hitting, at least I believe my shots were clean, but clearly no power from it at all. With constant use of this racquet, I started to lose my confidence in my game. Now I am changing back to my Head Extreme MP.. I bought this racquet because I had experienced too much power from the extreme mp, and I believe that the TF305 could help me with more control-oriented, but I was wrong.

    Currently rocking the TF40 315 16x19. I don't mind the naming convention, as it's pretty simplistic: TF40 = Technifibre 40th anniversary, static weight, string pattern.
    No marketing buzzwords like BOOM or CLASH. Kind of reminds me of European cars, like BMW M3 or Audi A3.
    But I do agree with you about the handle. I also had trouble deciding if I liked the flat grip from Technifibre.
    Changing the original synthetic grip to a Babolat leather grip made a HUGE difference in terms of feeling the bevels and creating a better shape for the handle overall. Currently experimenting the lead tape as well to help balance out the added weight of the leather grip.
    I would be very interested to see a review of the TF40 315 16 x 19 and 315 18 x 20 as well. Heavier static weight, but lower swingweight, making the racquet super whippy.

      How were your experiments with lead tape? Currently using a tf40 16x19 305 with a leather grip+overgrip and it feels great, in stock form it was totally unusable for me
