Nope, the championships were held in Stuttgart, Germany. The athlete crossing the line was Stephane Franke, german. He finished 4th, wich is amazing for an European so people were cheering for him. I hate people who think they are smarter than they actually are...
Very simple; it’s not the shoe that Tanui is angry about but throughout the race Haile is only sitting behind him - her harvesting his efforts. Anybody who has done competitive running will tell you how annoying it is for when someone simply sits behind waiting to pounce. And then he steps your shoe - aaah!! That ruins it. So he Tanui now thinks,”let me give it to you”. But unfortunately Haile was a good finisher. Both men are elite runners - much more than any average sportsman.
If someone sits behind you , that's means you can control the pace , you can keep the pace slow or fast and kick in right time . The Kenyan athlete was scared that's why he lost the race .
I felt for Tanui here. I see people saying that Tanui was frustrating Geb with the slow pace. If so then why did Geb not take the lead? Numerous time Tanui invited him to pass and Geb refused, instead sitting behind and clipping his heels. I don't blame Tanui for being upset, I'd be seething too. Geb was at fault.
I've ran plenty of races where I have clipped runners before. Not on purpose whatsoever. There's an old saying "If you're going to lead, make it fast."
Geb was known for his 1500m sprinting finish; so Tnui’s plan was set a really fast pace and kill Geb finishing kicks and hopefully drop him; that why there was no one near them but Geb stuck around. Getting kicked happens but Tnui failed setting a high pace race toward the end

This man tormented Kenyan runners. He really ' hated' Kenyans. Stealing win after win at the worst time possible and at the last 20 meters. Machuka slap him, Tanui lost a shoes and the race. Target almost doubled up with fright and lost at the finish line. Wow! Damn it!
GABRE was lucky not to have been disqualified.
Tanui was lucky not to have a life ban.
Gblsie almost KICKED tanui shoe off a v dirty tactic seen this man do that a lot.he hounds them creeps up I think the judges should take a call
Geb did nothing wrong, so there was no grounds for disqualifying him - which is why he WASN'T disqualified.
He just frustrated because he can’t drop Haile who was sticking so close and pressured him hahaha
Haile the greatest ever haha
No, Gebreselassie stepped on his shoe. He deserved no respect.
That's was crazy when a person but out his shoes
Write very will then talk
They are both great runners of great nations, but Kenya is the best in producing middle to long distant runners

Gebreseladsie is the hero. The guy ignores hailes’s offer to shake his hand. Losers never believe even they lose like this guy. Shame on this guy.
Tough one
Tanui went early
Kenya en my Ethiopian neighbors are dominating in long races.
