1. Eliud Kipchoge vs Kenenisa Bekele vs El Guerrouj - Epic Battle
Eliud Vs Kenny Vs El: 00:04
Before he made a name as the greatest marathon runner in history, Eliud Kipchoge's sprint finish was legendary and this is the day he became a legend on the track. At the young age of 17, Kipchoge faced off against arguably the two greatest distance runners in history (for their respective events) in Hicham El Guerrouj or Morocco and Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia.
Eliud was already the junior record holder in the 5000 meters. And was no slouch, but compared to the men he was racing, he was the underdog.
This is the 2003 World Championship 5000m battle. The finish is still one of the most exciting finishes in distance running history. Especially when we go back in time from 2018 and realize how special of a race this truly was.
Consider this:
El Guerrouj ended his career as the GOAT at the 1500m and won a 5000m Olympic Gold Medal (2 Golds)
Kenenisa Bekele had already won the 10,000 meters in this championship and would go on to win 3 Olympic Gold Medals (10,000 x2, 5000) and is regarded as the greatest cross-country runner to ever live.
Now, Eliud Kipchoge is the greatest marathon runner in history. He is the current world record holder, has the world's fastest time (breaking 2 attempts) and he is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist.
So we have 3 incredible runners sharing 6 Olympic Gold medals between them ranging from distances of 1500m all the way up to the marathon.
This is the race of your dreams. After watching this, I encourage you to find the full video and have a look at it. You will see masterclass racing at its finest.
Track & Field does not get any better than a race like this.
2. Mo Farah vs Ibrahim Jeilan
A great race for the fans. Daegu South Korea. Mo Farah is on his come-up journey to become a 4-time Olympic Gold Medalist (5000m x2, 10000 x2) and Ibrahim Jeilan was an unheralded Ethiopian Runner, mostly unknown outside of the diehard track and field fans.
This race will be remembered for Farah making his move too early and Jeilan cruising past him on the home stretch. Jeilan closed the last lap in an incredible 53.00 - What a race this was. Very memorable.
3. Jonathan Brownlee vs Javier Gomez
A great sprint finish in London in 2013. Gomez is a fantastic triathlon finisher and has won many sprint finishes. He typically waits for the other runners to make a move first then launches his kick shortly afterward.
4. Eliud Kipchoge vs Bernard Lagat vs Kenenisa Bekele
The 2009 World Championship 5000 meters saw an incredible race where the defending World Champion (Lagat) met the defending Olympic Champion (Bekele) as well as a host of other racers. Mo Farah was an also-ran in this race as this was before his big breakout where he became a 4-time gold medalist.
This race came down to the wire with Lagat holding a slight lead over Bekele with around 50 meters to but. But Bekele willed himself to victory at the end of the race in thrilling fashion. This was the last time we really get to see Bekele on top of his game. Similar to Lagat.
This was their greatest race against each other.
5. Centrowitz vs Izaic Yorks
The reigning Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Centrowitz battles himself and the field here to win the 2018 USATF title.
This race was Centrowitz to lose. He led the entire last 400m and was in a prime position. His finishing sprint was far superior to the other runners. Yorks came up big for 2nd place.
6. Coe
Sebastian Coe racing against the clock on the last 150 meters of this race. The 1977 World Cup saw Coe run his last 200 meters in 25.1 seconds. This kind of speed was unheard of in the 70s. Coe dismantled this field easily and left his competition in the dust.
7. Steve Ovett vs Seb Coe vs Straub
8. Lagat vs Ben True vs Mead
9. Dieter Baumann
10. John Ngugi vs Andrew Lloyd vs Hamer
12. Yifter the Shifter kick
12.Gebrselassie vs Khalid Skah
11. Bekele vs Hicham El Guerrouj
12. 4x400m women's Race (Must Watch) foreign language
13. Farah vs Iguider vs Gebremeskel
14. Farah vs Galen Rupp vs Bekele x2
15. Niyongabo vs Boulami vs Paul Bitok
16. Kirui vs Gebrselassie
17. Kenny Bekele vs Mo Farah vs Haile Gebrselassie (road)
18. CIT vs UCC - "From the depths of Hell!
19. Danny Harris vs Schmid vs Moses
20. Hassan vs Obiri
21. Helen Obiri vs Herself
22. Symmonds vs Wheating vs KD Robinson
23. Gebrselassie vs Tanui

I love how the last 200m can be so dramatic 🔥
Man this is some good shit, good motivation to watch before a big race! i got a marathon coming up tomorrow, start time 5am hopefully things will go in my favor!

We love you my hero's Ethiopia 🇪🇹🇪🇹 so proud💚💛❤
Then,what's up with ur profile
4:47 that was incredible 😥
My proud athletic I love u Ethiopian 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
Mo Ferra vs Bekele at The Great North Mile. Much respect to Mo, he really battled back to close in on Bekele but Bekele battled back to win.
Paul Tergat vs Halle in the 96 and 2000 in the Olympic 10k.
One shoe Tanui vs Halle.
Are three of my favorite sprint finishes.
Women always the Debaba sisters kicking away and Defar winning the Olympic 5K in 2012.
I think the Doha 5k finial was pretty exciting with Jacob breaking away in the last lap and the two Ethiopian runners having to put there foot on the gas.
also the matchup between El Guerrouj, Bekele, and Kipchoge was insane. 1 was the king at the mile/1500, 1 was king at the 5K/10K, and the other went on to be the king at the marathon. what a finish
@@trevorturner8037 - Oh yes I remember that race. The three were gritting their teeth in the last 200. Bekele being kind enough to move over, so they could run a fair race.
I'm glad you mentioned the music. I kept looking over my shoulder; kind of eerie. Loved the video though
An excellent vid with some races I hadn't seen before 👊
Super video, man it really does cover almost all the best final kicks.
There will be a new video soon with more
Some of the greats here.
Excellent compilation
I love you so much Ethiopia
Thank goodness the music was loud enough to drown out the commentary of these exciting finishes !!
Loved the music ….added to the history
Where are Ethiopian Females, Dibaba, Defar .... TrackQueens
Ok, like, how can you not include any of Tirunesh Dibaba's finishing kicks. She's literally one of the best last lap runners
8:54 respect for the fight how much he wanted to take 3th place
05:08 great Race kipchoge bekele el guerrouj
How come there is no single race from Tirunesh Dibaba featured here?...her finishes are always devastating.
This was the top 23. She didnt make the list
My frnd uve jus added some shit races n cal it top 23...! I bet u were still in diapers wen the likes of Tergat,Haile,Rudisha,Dibaba,Jelimo,Cheruyot...were running..
Agreed
@@RunnerFlix she is the greatest female long distance runner
@@RunnerFlix really son?
That's your excuse
6:59..'UCC from the depths of hell'...😂 hilarious!
EXCELLENT collection's
I like
Background music/noise is just too damn loud.
No better music to use than this, makes me cry and feel what they feel when they cross the line
nice video and I like this music
Ok guys, its time to make a new video. What are the best sprint moments you want to see? I promise the music will be better this time!
JUST DON'T ANY MUSIC IN PLEASE
@@acrylup You dont have any suggestions for races you want to see?
Floria Guey ! That french girl
@@RunnerFlix
I agree with Acrylup, putting music on top just ruins the enjoyment of the video.
This was my first video ever. The next video is much better 😀
My strength at the 5k is the final 200-300 metres, I often come from a little way back to actually doing really well, I always remember the moment a couple years ago when I did the south west of England u13s 5k and I was 14th with 300 to go, the guy in first had burned himself out and was struggling so I came through with the sprint and managed to come 1st OMG I was so happy 😃 😃 😃
My pb is 17:56, I got 18:13 that day so I was fairly pleased, I really want to get to some big competitions one day, fingers crossed 🤞 😜
how are you doing my friend?
Spooky music, felt like watching a conspiracy theory.
"They are watching us"
Also:

5. Tirunesh Dibaba ....any of her races
6. Meseret Defar
7. Vivian Cheruiyot
8. Sammy Wanjiru Kamau and Tsegaye Kebede (10/10/10) Chicago Marathon (his last race).

@@RunnerFlix ,
Yes, 2006. My apologies and thanks.
Wow!!!! 🏃💪👏👍👌
Ladies and gentlemen this is racing at his peak
Very nicely produced item, good music. But I am missing Dave Wottle in Munich 1972.
magnifique 💛💛
Watching before a meet soon...
Man you are missing 1972 Munich Games 10000m when Lasse Viren, after falling, made an incredible comeback with an amazing sprint finish.
I will add that to future videos, thank you!
Yeah....it's amazing what 'blood doping' can do for your stamina
@@Baskerville22 I don't think he ever admitted "doping". Blood doping was not banned until 1986, so technically it wasn't doping at the time of his wins. But no doubt that it was an unfair advantage, doping or not.
@@OurWorldIsBroken I agree that "blood-doping" was not illegal when Viren won his Olympic gold medals, but it was certainly an unethical 'trick' that gave him an advantage. That doesn't mean that the term "blood-doping" is incorrect. Blood doping is defined by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as the use of products that enhance the uptake, transport, or delivery of oxygen to the blood. "Doping" is not used here to indicate some illegal drug has been introduced into the body. It's used to indicate that the athlete's blood has been manipulated (artificially oxygenated). Oxygen is not illegal, and the blood was his. I wonder if he could have won, or even medalled without it, or if his opponents were doing the same thing.
Thank you
l love you Etihopa 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
Love yuo mama ethiopa💚💛❤

Thank you Jonathan

ኢትዮጵያ ሃገሬ 🇪🇹💪
Very nice compilation, but you should have included the last round of Kenenisa Bekele's 10,000 WR (26:17) winning. He run the last round in 57 seconds alone for Christ sake, after running 26 minutes. Everybody in the stadium were on their feet, and the distance between him and the second is almost 400 meters.
I am watching this video while in the bed lay down position and all in a sudden i am on the chair sitting and at the end of this video i am sanding on the roof of my house! That's mad excitement !!! Wow!!!!!!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
HICHAM EL GUERROUJ ❤
What the hell were you thinking putting this background music? Jesus man
I had to stop 2 min in because of the "music" 😑
EDward S ..
goosebumps
I was waiting to see Lasse Viren's final kick at the Munich's 5.000 mits final!
Proud to be Ethiopian 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
7:02 WOW. 😮😮 Last to first!!
Commentators 😂🔥🔥
Melbourne Commonwealth Games Womens Marathon- lead changed 7 times in the last KM, and 3 times in the stadium!
Damn!
Girafee legs that make you to sprint that amazing
I would have loved to see some of the great battles between tirunesh Dibaba and Meseret Defar
Good video, but y'all gonna leave out my boy Billy Mills in the 1964 Olympics
Yep that was the best
Chris Humetewa FAX the best in my opinion
He is in the next video
kenenisa bekele
You know that this is incomplete without the Dibaba's. No list will ever be complete without them. NONE AT ALL!!!!
I await your video then

Last race: the guy only had one shoe on 9:09...wow and still running fast as hell
Question for runners because Im curious: should you look back on sprints?
No
@@tofubornminecraftparodys1793 why?
@@Mezzy.. because it’s detrimental. You will lose focus, your stride, and confidence can go up or down depending on what you expected.
Tbh, look back on sprint doesn't matter, it totally depends on you. And no one can improve his sprint, because its natural.
9:15 R.I.P earphone users 😔
What is the background music name? I really like it! :)
Jelan over mo that's world class
All sprints are great, but there one sprint that is not here, Fernando Mamede when he did WR of 10.000 (27.13) Fernando Mamede and Carlos Lopes.
Obiri 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Didn't make the list because she didn't win (had been tripped up earlier in the race), but Szabo's finish in the 1500 at the Sydney Olympics was absolutely insane.
I miss track so much😩 I could’ve been a great runner & would of been the best & I decided to give up on it.
I die for this, I would give it all my strength & I won’t care how much pain I’m in... I will cross that finish line.
Nothing new.!!!!!
Never too late.
Zooooommmmm
7:22 lol that cut-
In 1955 I ran track in HS. Participated in 100 yard ( not meter ) dash. 10.0 was the time to beat. I only made 10.6...how much faster

10.6s would be 11.59s for 100m, not bad

He wouldn't have won if Kenenisa want racing with injuries he had for 5 years
@@CherryBlossomskt no
@@waterproof4403 haha, u cant say that "He wouldnt have won if ..." .... He wouldnt have won if there was a faster runner in this run. But there was no one faster, thats what its about
@@Ichbindannmalwegde-vl5zf yes I definitely could. Mo Farah was racing before 2011 and he was nobody. Watch the 5000m World Championships in Berlin 2009. Mo Farah wouldn't stand a chance against bekele. We obviously know how massively overshadowed Kipchoge was by Bekele. Kipchoge would have won a lot of medals if it wasn't for Kenenisa. Same with Sileshi Sihine. Mo Farah is not better than them. He was just lucky enough to peak at the very right time. Haha look at him in the marathon now...

Great compilation, but the music is annoying and unnecessary. Why do people think that every video needs a music track??
@Kellen, I've just messed up my ears listening to that macabre like soundtrack. It is like the music they used to play for the Undertaker (WWE) when entering the ring that made children cringe. The soundtrack in thisvideo is TOTALLY UNNECESSARY!
The video is great though.
