I had a leprosy cd that was “brand new” and it came with a crack. Found an old green day CD and had a surgery to save leprosy.
Green Day doesn't deserve that surgery look for mariah carey and destroy that.

I have amassed a huge CD collection over the years and whenever I order an album that I don’t have online and it comes by mail all banged up, like you I tend to get upset. I can’t bring myself to buy a Kelly Clarkson album to swap out the cases but I have found that you can buy empty CD cases at Staples.

Back in the 90’s and 00’s we would just pop the case and replace it with a newer case from the same manufacturer so it fits properly and is correct

Just empty the case of 2 cds and pull the back panel (the area where the cd sits) up to get the tracklist/back card and switch them

I refuse to order from Amazon after what they did to the sound of perseverance the disc tray came broke so the second disc falls out all the time and they did something to the front cover because it doesn’t open all that much anymore so you have to remove it to take out the discs

Thanks for the suggestions used to do this years ago alot times I still do .Anyway good suggestion for all metal heads and their cds .
Advice 4 kids. I go to an electronics store & buy a "replacement CD case(s)" or if they don't have it i buy a CD-R or DVD-R disc(s) for the cases & use the disc to burn 'mixed tapes" then make a paper envelope to place the disc in, then i keep the back part of the case & the inside disc holder for future replacements.

My friends look at me like I’m stupid cause I still buy CDs. They like bro you can stream the music online but I rather have it in my hands + I’m a collectors person.
The reason collecting physical music is so fun is because when you actually put the physical care into preserving it, you start to really appreciate it more. Almost like having a child

I usually go to second hand shops and a lot of the time they have some new unscratched cd cases. I normally don't change the case if it has scratches but if you do it would be cheaper to get one for like 20 cents at a charity shop rather than brand new.

That's my pet peeve when getting a cd from Amazon. Wait a couple days to get it, only to find fucking cracks and worse, a completely broken case
I don’t buy cd’s from Amazon unless I can’t find the album elsewhere. 4 out of the last 5 I’ve gotten have been cracked. One of them broke.
Dude my Motley Crue CD has cracks, it breaks off when you open it, and its broken in some corners
For some reason every metal album I buy used might have a crack or to in the case but never any other type of music. I guess they Thrash around to much.
Btw you can open up the Cd holder too if you have a crack in the back side aswell to change.

I got curtain call 2 at Walmart and I didn't know really look at it, but when I got home it had a crack which pissed me off, and thanks but the thing is I'm afraid to break something replacing the case, but I think cd cases shouldn't be so fragile I mean it's literally called a cd "CASE" it's supposed to protect the cd and be made out of stuff that makes it not make it bad

Personally I just buy empty jewel cases (usually come in boxes of 10) to replace ones where the piece that holds the door is broken or the spindle in the tray where it's a functionality thing and could end up damaging the booklet or scratching the CD. or to switch out a black or clear tray. a little crack on the case is just cosmetic and not a big deal for me - if anything wear like that just means the CD have been played a bunch and seen lots of use :).

What's terrible is that this reminded me of SailorMoonAbridged fandubs where the villain talked to another villalin, "Jedite? Oh, why did you leave me?" and the very other villain she was talking about, Jedite, wondered, "You know... you've been replaying that Kelly Clarkson song a lot, so..." and she was like "What?" And yep! It fits "perfect". (I'm trying to recall how many times I've done this same thing... it was often... now I am trying to think of similar stuff for other mediums like cassette tapes and vinyl records... probably a similar number.) I get the very distinct feeling burying this cd+case shan't be the end here... (snicker: the crushing of that sounded very... flatulent...) Oh! No! I don't want my marshmellows mixed with burning plastic, BUT! Thank you for the "offer" >:)

Man, this is one of the reasons why I dislike Jewel cases, digipacks are great - they feel like little gatefold records and often include more artwork, all without wasting plastic and being more durable.
I’m on the opposite side, once a digipak wears out or tears, that’s it. At least with a jewel case it can be replaced. But either sure beats the mini LP sleeves they got now. Always scratches up the discs by the friction..

But I've got a few of these really robust triple gatefold Digipacks from Century Media and they are great, always feel like they aren't going to to get damaged because they feel slightly plasticy

Had some friends in a band who printed 1,000 CDs of their first album, and didn't really sell a lot of them, unfortunately. One of said friends was going to throw away a couple boxes of their CDs one day out of disgust, and I promptly asked him if I could take them. He obliged. Boom! Approximately 200 free brand new CD cases to fix my brokens. Unfortunately, I exhausted my supply a few years ago. Need to befriend another overzealous shitty band soon. Got a number of broken CD cases.

Yeah I never like limp bizkit but break stuff is the only song I handle listening to with out turning off but I think rage against the machine isn’t bad but don’t really listen to them because why when I can just listen to cannibal corpse or Motörhead
