Thirty years ago I would have been very excited by these buildings but couldn't cope with anything so derelict now. Probably renovated too many in my lifetime! Good luck to them 👷
It was so nice to go on that little journey with you Anna and Peter, including your friends. You are such a lovely couple and you deserve a happy new start in your new home which will no doubt be full of your excitement as time passes. I so look forward to going on your NEW journey with you! God bless you both.
My heart sinks when i see those once beautiful Chateau's in crumbling ruins! I love it when people come along and give them a new lease on life! Thank you for sharing that it was very interesting to see around the place and try to imagine what it once looked like!
I'm always so happy to find a new video of you two.. Of course I was so saddened to learn of you leaving your lovely Chateau, you have mad skills Peter and you both worked so very hard at making things perfect. You're two dears to me and I always look forward to each visit with you. I wish you the greatest success Peter and Anna. Better Days Ahead!
Hi Peter and Anna, this blog was interesting and for the buildings to have survived this long the damage done in 1944 must have been fairly minimal. Your knowledge of militaria really shine through when you picked out that German barbed wire spike Peter . Impressive. I'm not surprised that you felt goosebumps in that cemetery Anna. Having served myself, I felt a bit sad because they're not remembered as I'm sure you know, but they still deserve respect, yet how many people would know the cemetery is even there. But respect to the two of you for visiting. Kind regards as always
Hello! Love the willow and wisteria! The light is different & you said it's warmer.. So great to see you again so exciting. I know you must have mixed feelings Peter. What a blessing with these lovely friends. Thankyou so much for sharing Miss Anna xo xo love to you both.
So interesting to see all these marvellous old buildings . Thank you for sharing. Hope you are both keeping alright through what must be the strangest of times for you . Take care.
What an interesting video! I love exploring these old places vicariously with you! Anna, that was an interesting find of the copper in that little cottage, we had coppers here in New Zealand too. In fact, when I moved to my house 35 years ago, the copper was still in use in the laundry, and it was the only source of water for the bathroom! I had to bucket the hot water to the bath! I did love the smell of the copper when it was boiling, and even though it was labour intensive, I did use it to wash sheets and things like tea towels and towels. I didn't have to wring them though, I did have my automatic washing machine for that lol! The sheets and towels came up so beautiful, the towels were so fluffy! I sometimes wish I still had it, but it got taken out when I had the hot water cylinder put in. Can't wait to see your new home! xx
Was a lovely day Peter and Anna! I'm Monica, the D-Day Battletours guide. Ty and I will move to the first house soon. I'm planning on sharing the restoration on youtube as well! The second house is a bit much work. I hope someone will save it.

You two are so precious, I'll watch you whatever you do. I do hope someday you'll each have microphones to wear because i have trouble hearing clearly enough. I hope you find the perfect next home that also makes your hearts sing and fits your period style. I love deco and haven't found anyone else restoring to this period. P.S. Lovely surprise to see you two out and about for a change, hope you are well and keeping your spirits up for the move ahead, great information about the German grave yard and how he was in an ambush and killed. Well spotted Peter the old piece of post from the war time, I hope to watch you again soon. xx
What a shame to see these beautiful places in such ruin. Hard to imagine letting them to go rack and ruin. We have that here as well but not as much with the oldest places because ours aren’t nearly as old. Fantastic outing.
Fascinating stuff. I live 4 miles from the. German cemetery on Cannock chase Staffordshire. I've visited there often, and like you l find it very sad and it always gives me goosebumps, but also beautiful and peaceful. Thank you for sharing that.
Sometimes buying a house that is gutted costs less to restore as you are not working around existing walls and floors. You can reinforce the walls, lay down concrete ( or limecrete ) and build inside onto that as you go. It wouldn't put me off as you could add character from salvage and still make it a good insulated home.

Your friends are brave if they're seriously considering taking on that level of restoration. I thought you were moving south? Fascinating exploration. I didn't realize there were German soldiers buried in France; I don't know why I assumed they would have been taken to Germany.
The reason that you will find multiple burial graves in German military cemeteries, as opposed to individual graves, in France and Belgium is because those countries reduced the number of cemeteries available to Germany after WW2. As a result, the Germans had to move their war dead into fewer sites. The was done by the host nations, in response to being invaded a second time. I enquired whether the German occupying forces in WW2 'interfered' with the allied war dead from WW1, apparently not, with the exception of Verdun, where they destroyed the 'they shall not pass' memorials/markers. And yes, Anna, unbekannte = unknown.
The loss of any precious life is sad. May God bless all their souls with what they need. Its an adorable accent Anna, its pleasant to listen to you speak. All we ever have is NOW. All we ever own is our souls, the rest is on loan, even our shoes! Bless you both.

Why a german cemetery exists in France????......if you know what they did to my people in France!
That's a huge renovation, especially at their age
