Started using one of Matt Wenning’s program this year following a rough back injury and I’ve been really happy with the results. Wenning is always good for an informative podcast
Matts always great and definitely knows more than i ever will about strength/training etc so its great to hear his rationales etc, Dave brings the best out of him too
One of the best podcasts I’ve seen🔥 Tons of useful info for everyone at any level. Matt thanks for sharing your knowledge, experience and expertise with us. 🏆🏆
I think in ways he's a silly goose who misspeaks sometimes, but if Louie Simmons is the Godfather(Vito), then Matt is Michael Coreleone. I honestly believe Matt is decades ahead of most of us. We may not always understand, but I do acknowledge this man is in deeeep.
“I may be the only person in my generation who smarted myself to strong.” -Matt W. 😂 the dude lives it and is smart but his Rickyism get me everytime! Loved the information thanks!

My peak was at 35 also but I didn’t start training for strength until I was 31. I had been training since I was 16 but I mostly trained to look good. Then 25-31 I was married, broke, and just trying to get by. The week I turned 31 I was put on trt, 300mg biweekly, and my strength suddenly shot up. So I decided to take it for a ride and see how far I could go. I hit my heaviest lift at 35 and a half, then my bike accident happened, and that was the end of that for a while. I was 39 and a half before I felt normal again but me being stupid, rushed back into the weights too quickly and tore the labrum in my left shoulder 3 months into getting my strength back. I had that surgery and just really never got back to what I was, probably partially from being in my 40’s by then and now at 53, I am just happy on the days I can workout hard without a lot of pain.
I’m pretty hyped for this. I’ve been so interested in the information that conjugate came from but just didn’t know where to find it. This sounds amazing!
Matt is a completely no nonsense no bullshit guy. Walks the walk too unlike a lot of people in the field and I’ve benefited a ton from the info he’s put out there.
I love how people complain about Matt Wenning being greedy on a podcast where the dude literally gave out gold information for free. The only thing your ass had to pay was attention.
Can’t please everyone - you get slapped in the face giving shit out for free and if you charge so may as well make a living and see who respects your time and effort.
Matt I see you have a program for over 40 on your website, but how about someone over 50 who has a decent background in strength training not power lifting, but from Poliquin, Thibadeau, Duffin, Josh Bryant, Paul Carter? Mostly Poliquin type workouts.
Yep sure do !! The over 40 manual was actually designed for a person over 50 - stone cold. 57 years old first cycle I modified Also online coaching is the best route taking all factors into consideration
Variation with spurts of specificity - awesome! This would obviously be on friday instead of traditional DE Squats. Would Mat recommend doing this for speed bench / deadlift also?

Very interesting, thanks ! When you talk about training different abilities at the same time, like WSB, don't you think programming with a DUP approach is also correct ? Like volume/technique/heavy day
Why would he waste time answering questions from people who can't be bothered to go through his catalogue of videos on UA-cam in the first place. If you're on patreon at least he knows your serious about training
Completely agree. Last year I ripped through his videos then paid for some of his programming to see how he implemented it and after I month had a pretty decent understanding of how he was using the principles he talks about in interviews
What Matt says about strength athletes not dieing compared to bodybuilders, 24 men have won Worlds strongest man only 2 have died Jon Pall Sigmarsson died young heart problems in the family and Don Reinhoudt was 78. Thease guys are huge and some of them are getting pretty old now. The last few years far to many bodybuilders have been dieing far to young.

Matt/Dave, around 34-35 minutes in, Matt is talking about people saying the Russians are stronger/better than Americans because of steroids. You correctly say no they were better because they were smarter. So here are my questions: (if y’all cover this topic later in the podcast I apologize) can you, or do you attribute any of the Russian dominance in strength during that particular era to their communist system? During your research did you find how the athletes were being treated, or how they lived and their conditions? If not, do you believe they were being forced and under the thumb of tyrant coaches, professors, what have you? Lastly, of all the data and research you collected and read and studied and accumulated for your new book and even before your book, that eventually come to be known as The Conjugate system, do you think it would have ever come to be if it weren’t for the authoritarian rule and dominance the Russians wanted over the world? Forgive my long question. This has been something I’ve always wondered but never heard it discussed. There has to be a correlation, imo. In America I don’t think conjugate would have ever been discovered , or at least not when it did. Thank you! 🇺🇸💪🏼

Everyone back then busted his balls but what happened when he was at the plate,.....Everyone watched because they wanted to see a 500ft homerun. I'm 53 and I wish I would have started box squatting in my 20's.
I do the Wenning Tactical, but I also love trying to absorb as much of his training experience and science as possible! I want the longevity, strength/power, functional strength/performance. As a older LEO, I need to be very functional, but also want to be strong. People these days always want to run and fight. Lol it's not overly heavy for a short time but 20-plus pounds around your hips for 12 plus hours wreaks havoc on you. The body was not made to carry that weight on the hips. Shifts your posture, everything. Some smaller guys even have bruises on their hip bones. Essentially I'm grateful for you sharing this information and your programing. I think it's reasonably priced and people blow far more money on stupid stuff they'll never get any return from.
