This was extremely useful. We’re headed to Cruisers U for the OEM course next week. Your advice and suggestions are a big help as we prepare for our circumnavigation. Thank you!
Can I just suggest one th8ng that I have seen missed on many a first aid kit ... Sterile eye wash bottles. They are cheap and you should ever leave the dock without at least one, and try to get the ones with the special cap to direct the flow. They are slightly bulky but worth their weight in gold if you get something in your eye. Anyways another great video keep them up folks.
how about a way to video call an emergency physician via satellite?? is there a space onboard that can be used as a sick bay? I am planning to buy a super yacht so I am concerned about this. Further, it is difficult to find information on what to do if there is a person on board that is misbehaving or has committed a serious crime against another person. Is there usually a place on the boat that can be used to lock the dangerous person down until they can be remanded to proper authorities? most licensed captains have arrest authority at sea no??
Dear Amy and David. Not sure if this is the proper way to seek advice... We are a family of 3 and planning to move on a new catamaran in 4 years and sail away a year later when our daughter will be 10. We are heading to Annapolis today to look at boats. I am contemplating between performance and comfort. I was looking at seawind 1600 (long waiting line and non refundable deposit) and Balance 482. Thank to your very interesting channel, I am considering Fountain Pajot Tanna 47. I get most of the pros and cons but still, I would love to hear your opinion on this matter. 🙏
Hi Hezi. Trying to find the balance between performance and comfort is a tricky challenge. And it really comes down to how you plan to use your boat. If you plan on doing a lot of upwind sailing, then performance gets more important. We only spent about 13% off the entirety of our circumnavigation at sea. So the comfort of life on the boat was really important to us. Would it be nice to have a better performing boat? Yes. But neither of us would compromise on the level of comfort we already have just to sail faster. Hope that helps and best of luck with your choice! We’re around the boat show everyday so find us and say hi!
@@OutChasingStars I wish we would have met you guys but we left a day early. Your videos inspired us to be take a closer look at Fountain Pajot. After looking into the Balance 48 and Seawind 1600, I am 99% locked on The Alba 45 (being that the Tanna is a foot longer and half a foot wider and cost 200k more). Keep on the good work. Your videos are exceptionally informative and well made!
We're going to talk about MEDICAL EMERGENCIES while out on a boat but... We're gonna sit back and relax while we're doing it... Can't figure out why that hit me funny but 5 minutes later... Still laughing! OOOOOOOOH MY GOD! WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS!!!!! Ooooh look Champagne cocktails, cheese and Kenny G. Yah, we're good. 😄😁😆
Thanks for the reminder to go and check our supplies :) great tips on things I don't have as well. Bravo 👏
As a 30 year paramedic, I applaud your common sense and preparedness. Great video!
I have told about twenty people to go to your blog to source a medical kit. As usual a very well worded and to the point video!
Ditto. Blog post is an excellent resource on this topic.
We greatly appreciate that, thanks!!!

Better to discuss while relaxed before the emergency happens than to figure things out for the first time DURING the emergency. 😂
@@OutChasingStars Very true. 😉
