Silicone sealers are inert once cured and dried. When you no longer smell the solvent in the treated product it has off- gassed all of the volatile solvents. Generally about 24-48hrs.

For tubing under heavy containers in the landscape, I like to buy small 1/2" or so PVC and cut a short piece to go from the outside of the pot to the inside hole (the radius of the container) and insert the 1/4" drip tubing through it for extra protection to prevent the drip tube from becoming crimped or damaged from the heavy containers. You can bury it slightly and you will never be able to see it, but it will provide enough protection to stop any kinking of the tubing.

I was walking around the yard this morning looking at my plants and decided to break the flower stalks off my Yuccas and the first one scattered 100s of seeds all over the snow, so I was more careful with the next one and for the first time ever I brought it in the house to collect the seeds. From one flower stalk I got half a sandwich bag of seeds. So if I can get them to grow maybe I'll feel more like a real gardener.

@@maryfarrand1799 yes ma'am. After there's no chance of frost leave the lid of your container open during the day and close it at night for about 5-7 days . So they can harden off. (Just about any seed can be winter sown.)
Then you can plant all of your seedlings. Happy growimg! Cheryl Mann has a great Channel cold juicing gardener. She was in zone 5 Ohio. She has moved since. Her older videos have so much information.

In Scandinavia we use "LECA" as filler in plant pots, as house and foundation filling and isolation, or cast into 20" LEGO like blocks and build houses with.
It's made from clay that has been poped like popcorn, and has infinite amounts of airpockets.
Each pellet, the size of a peanut m&m, weighs nothing and adds much needed air and space for a plant, and also add that thing I forget what it's called....."root resistance"?
Roots benefit of hiting an obstacle in the soil and grow in another direction and make more roots.......right? 😏
This is LECA's product page, on the plant pellets, but it's in Norwegian. If you want to, I can translate it for you? If not, there's some pictures so you can see what it is.
    leca.no/produkter/leca-kuler/leca-flower
    Edit for spelling.

I will always love your garden tours! I know they must be a daunting thing to take on each month though, between the time it takes to film, lighting, weather, etc. I would actually love to see a variation on a garden tour more on the "Best of the Month" sort of vibe. Just you walking through the garden and having a chatty casual tour of just what's at it's peak that particular month instead of having to tackle the entire garden and every plant. It would be so fun to do this for flower arranging. Going around the garden and cutting whatever is looking prime for that month. I think it would give a beautiful picture of how the seasons change. My birthday month is June; how fun would it be to watch a garden video where, at the end, you make a bouquet that's perfectly "The flowers of June"! Would be fun to see vegetable harvest videos like that too. Sometimes it helps to see a monthly harvest to get a scope of just what is available to grow and eat month by month. Just an idea! I am so excited to see what you guys have in store this growing season!

They do get paid for ads, a lot more if you watch the entire ad. They get paid if you choose to skip the video but a lot more if you let the entire ad run. The amount they get paid depends on multiple factors, like from where the person is viewing the ad (which country) and the industry/sector of the economy in which "gardening/home" videos are paid. Of course I'm saying all of this after having watched multiple videos from other youtubers who have shared their income strategies so take that for what it's worth. The main way they get paid is based on *viewing hours* so watching an entire video is what counts most. I think (also) the threshold for income is the videos need to be at least 10 minutes long, but I'm not sure if that means they don't get paid at all if the video is less than 10 minutes. Good question though. Again,, all of this is from other youtube channels sharing their experiences.

This is a bit extreme, but if you seal your pots with a product called Line-X, the pots won't and can't shatter, if the entire pot is covered.
Even if you drop them from the top of your house.
But then you'd loose the color of the pots, I don't think there is a clear version of this coating.....but maybe you want a texture on some pots?
Most likely, the Bedliners on your trucks have a coat of Line-X.
So yeah, a bit extreme to use on a garden plant pot. But fun.

Hi Laura! My name is Kristen🌵🌸🌺 My mom and I love your videos! This summer I “recreated” one of Aaron’s container combos with the Supertunia Vista Bubblegum, Silverberry, and Fuchsia, 1 of each 😍 I HAVE got to send you a picture! It’s beautiful! I made a small succulent garden as well and put it outside but I think it might have shocked them a little with the sun and heat. Not too bad though I don’t think. From Pa! 💕💐

Hope you see this Laura.......would LOVE to hear what you're doing now as far as perennial cut backs (Hydrangea/Budleia etc) and when you're fertilizing your perennial beds & what Espoma 'Tone' to use so I can be purchasing them.
Since we here in Boise are experiencing the same sudden "spring temps" as you it has me wondering what to do...and when?? any help would be appreciated! THANKS!!!

Highly creative geniuses are not into organization ! That would kill their spirit . Laura ....that’s your strength, make things beautiful , and we love it when you do your thing! The 500 of the on going projects , that’s why you can’t watch TV , too passive an activity . You knit and pretend to watch tv with Aaron. Me ... I am in the kitchen creating meals , my hubby best friend is the tv controller !! He says I have ADD....maybe , but he eats fabulous meals all the time ...he’s benefiting from it. 😃😃 My next project is redoing my landscaping....your channel is my research Channel. Not going to pay a professional to do it .... I can save the fee. You planting your bulbs gave me motivation to plants bulbs at my mom’s grave ....I can’t wait to see how it turns out in couple months when Spring arrives. And I change my annuals every year at her grave , it’s so pretty in July. She has the best garden in her section. Thankfully, my siblings help me water it so I don’t have to go every day in growing season .
Thanks for experimenting and giving us this incredible opportunity to learn from you! Aaron , keep up the good work in editing....these videos are so well done!

Hello! Could you make suggestions for softscaping/plantings around or near an inground swimming pool including over the railing pots/irrigation drip...partial sun and shade....with 100% shade after 6pm in the summer....B.C. canada so a 8a/b zone...we have pavers around the pool, then white fence...no greenery inside at the moment...grass along one side, and 5 foot hedging cedars around the other...we would like to incorporate a small garden on one end...and would love also some tall/height ideas/water features to give interest!...we can't do any 'hanging' baskets off the house so just containers...

Laura you inspired me to do more bulb planting but some of the perennels I have not been able to find as your in high mountain dry area and I am in a moist salt air that stays about 70* if it get 80* it is in late August. We don't have a garden center that orders plants they only sell what they grow them selves. You mentioned a garden center in Skagit Country can you text that name to me please. And I'd like to buy one of those seed sprout containers that you showed in a fall video. I have looked everywhere around our area they don''t carry them. Please I will be glad to send your garden center a check for them. Thanks for all your help Joann

North Central Iowa gardener here that has grown sour pie cherry trees for years, never have sprayed them and have always been pest free. My aunt introduced these trees to me (I now have several varieties) and I decided to grow them since they didn’t require any additional care outside of harvesting. I’m sorry that your area seems to be problematic for cherry trees (maybe sweet cherries are what you were referring to?) but I just wanted to comment on my experience growing cherry trees as to not totally discouraged all of your viewers from trying them without doing a bit more investigation for their area. Hate to see my favorite fruit tree getting a bum rap 🍒

Laura, I'm so curious about how you have developed your business. It's one thing to make and post videos but it's a lot of work and business strategy to keep it going. How do you know what to do regarding marketing/social media/business strategy? Have you just figured it all out by yourselves or do you have someone that helps you with all of that? Love, love, love your content and your cheerful, enthusiastic outlook. It's so inspiring and seriously, you're such a positive influence in my gardening and creative life! Thank you so much!

Obviously I can't speak for her, but what I see as a viewer that has made me want to watch more is:
Knowledgeable and diverse content (within the gardening realm)
      Consistent postings
High video and production quality. This can be done with low budget equipment.
Her friendly, welcoming, and relatable style. She shows she is passionate about gardening and learning more every day
Thankfulness for what she does and not a sense of entitlement or projection that she's the true expert and we minions are privileged to learn from her.
NO quirkiness or confrontational style that distracts from the content
Stick to one subject for the vast majority of videos. She does some cooking and some family stuff, but it's 90% or more gardening
Audience engagement. These Q&A videos are one example. Appearances, etc.
Until last year I believe it was just her and Aaron. Her on the garden side and him doing the production. Now she has one helper in the garden and Aaron has one assistant in production.
I love these other channels for the same reasons:
      Y Garden (Yulia)
      Impatient Gardener (Erin)
      HortTube (with Jim Putnam)
      Farmhouse Vernacular (Paige)
Hot and Flashy (Angie, skincare and makeup)
MKBHD (he started in his bedroom when he was 13 making tech videos and is now building out a 6500 sq. ft. studio)

When younger and newer to planting in pots, I was always told that I needed to put gravel, small stones and/or river rock on the bottom of the pot to help with drainage. I rarely, if ever, see you follow that step in your processes. Is this an old step that’s not necessary anymore? (Lebanon, OH/NE Cincinnati)

She does not do that and is actually really vocal about it. Stones tend to clog the drainage hole every so often that it's more damaging than helpful.

    • @npknscrb

Yes, it’s an old recommendation that has been shown to do more harm than good. Don’t know if I will explain it in a way that makes sense but here goes. Having gravel or stones at the bottom raises the bottom of the potting mix. The bottom of the potting mix is what really holds the moisture almost regardless of what is underneath. Thus with the bottom of the potting mix raised, the moisture is held closer to the roots and more likely to result in issues related to overwatering.
That’s the general idea, hopefully how it’s written makes some sense.
