- Deltarune has 2 chapters, each of these chapters have a SECRET BOSS, these 2 secret bosses that are both the strongest opponents of their respective chapters. Spamton and Jevil are both really tough boss fights, but which of these 2 are actually more difficult to defeat? Well in this video we discuss that and come to a conclusion of who is the stronger boss!

Before this video I had not fought Snowgrave Spamton, upon reading the comments I did realize I forgot about snowgrave. Since then I’ve made a video fighting Spamton in the Snowgrave route. Maybe in the future I will redo this video talking about the Snowgrave variant! Thanks for watching! =D

I struggled for longer with Spamton, but that’s because I did his Snowgrave fight first. I’m certain if I did his normal route fight first, it would’ve been easier. Jevil definitely wins since, unfortunately, I’m not well versed in bullet hells.

jevil was really tough for me, sans took me a day or two to beat, but jevil took me a little under a week. weird route spamton was pretty hard but i think jevil is the toughest overall in deltarune so far

The issue with Jevil is that you need everybody to be alive to consistently tire him down. That’s for pacifist.

I use pirouette if I can’t pacify. The problem I have with Jevil, though, is TP. I’m never able to have enough or everyone alive.
I still think pacifist is easier than killing jevil because with pacifist you are constantly defending for TP and your hypnosis temporarily reduces his damage.
I think the most important thing that makes jevil harder is action economy. If you don't have Kris you don't get to ACT, you need a lot TP to ACT and you have to use all three of your teammates or risk getting a harmful effect

Jevil is pure chaos. His attacks frequently come from all directions, and deal a lot of damage relative to your health pool.
Spamton also does a lot of damage, but you have more healing items and the attacks are easier to dodge overall, typically coming exclusively from the right.
For players who are all around more skilled(no offense to those inexperienced with bullet hells), I feel like Jevil is a lot harder, both subjectively for me and objectively when looking at the context and content of both fights. Definitely the biggest shots at Spamton's difficulty are his freebies. He heals you and has several turns where he lets you take it really easy. Another thing about Spamton's attacks is they're a lot more akin to the environment the fight actually takes place in, akin to tracks. In many attacks he'll lane in on you, either needing you to destroy attacks that are oncoming and fit into a small gap, or ones where there are clear weak-points you need to destroy. Both of these make the best strategy then involve standing still for very long periods of time, at least relatively to how long the attacks last. Compare that to Jevil, who has attacks coming from all directions, and you get the problem toby had here. You see, these attacks all require Spamton to focus his fire from one side of the arena. And, each attack that is thrown out is completely countered by Justice's ability. So, if you can simply defeat the one threat and then stand still for some seconds, the fight loses a lot of challenge and tempo. Funnily enough, I feel like Toby circumvented this issue back in Mettaton EX, where SOME bullets were destroyable, however others were toggled on and off by your fire, meaning you needed to be way more careful when spamming your gun. Imagine if in the Pipis shooter attack there were occasionally walls that went up and down, and shooting them would stop them in place as they continued into the battle box. Not only does this mean you actually have to at least dodge something in that attack assuming you don't miss a Pipis, but it also means you need to worry about something other than just one part of that attack. The best example of Justice being used to its fullest extent is probably the disco ball, because again, it discourages shooting. You need to analyze the patterns to KNOW what you're actually doing and when to stop shooting, unlike Spamton whos fight is really just "lane and fire." Basically, Jevil is a much more diverse and active fight, while Spamton is mostly reactive and stagnant, giving the player a lot of spare time.
Now, the reason I mentioned experienced players in the beginning was for a pretty valid reason, and that is that I have seen newer players struggle a lot more in Spamton than Jevil. That's usually because the need to use a new mechanic in battle can be very challenging for some players, especially when you really have only used one hand to actually dodge attacks. Jevil doesnt make the player adapt to anything but the projectiles that he presents, while Spamton has you interact with them. Still, Spamton is way easier for me, but I do get why new players would consider Spamton a greater challenge
I feel like this was overlooked cuz you left out the snowgrave spamton neo fight, you're fighting alone and have to make crucial decisions when fighting him

But yeah, for me I think the main 2 reasons Jevil's harder are:
1. His attacks come from all directions in all sorts of crazy patters (fitting for a master of chaos). Most of Spamton's are just right-to-left.
2. Pacifying Jevil requires LOTS of TP. Pacifying Spamton requires none.
Although the yellow heart was a little hard to use on my first time fighting spamton neo, jevil still is harder

Spamton NEO is easy but it's hard to explain how, basically, just do it.
Jevil is harder than Sans and Undyne the Undying, harder than literally any boss in both of the series. He REALLY proved that he can do anything. Bravo Toby.
I had a very different experience from you, Undyne the Undying took me just under an hour, sans took around 30 attempts and jevil took me 6.
jevil is the embodiment of freed chaos, while spamton is just... sales

There's a mod that makes Snowgrave Spamton NEO use harder attacks, making him on par with Jevi. I kinda wish that was on the base game. Also Spamton has the bigshot spam exploit, though using it causes him to deal more damage.

In the lore, Jevil is harder, because we cant kill him, he just get bored + spamton need help to become [[BIG SHOT]], also Jevil just get in team and he sleeps for hundered for years.
I actually replayed DELTARUNE recently, and i beat Jevil first try Twice, while i had to fight Spamton Neo multiple times to beat him at first.
well i honestly agreed, jevil took me like alot of times to beat with but it only took me like 1 or 2 tries with spamton and spamton snowgrave, what makes spamton at snowgrave is you only play as kris which means only one health bar, also if you might've notice it jevil actually does pure chaos as his attack is simply at random and you wouldn't know where it's gonna hit while spamton neo had patterns and like you said he heals you. if you notice the first attack on where you shoot out blue spamton heads, it's also easy to dodge even without shooting it unlike jevil's first attack. also spamton neo final attack is indeed easy dodge while it's hard to dodge on jevil's.

Its harder depending on the player's skills, i just think Jevil is the harder one on general , but if you're a bullet hell player (like touhou), both would be very easy for you. Also i wouldn't compare Snowgrave spamton with Jevil because in Jevil fight, you have all 3 party members meanwhile in SG Spamton, you only have Kris with the post chapter 2 stats (14 AT and 160 HP compared to the beginning of chapter 2 with the stats of 12 AT and 120 HP) if we want to compare, i would like to think normal Jevil but with only Kris with the ch2 stats.
Out of topic but I just love Spamton NEO's bullet patterns, they're perfect for grazing, it's very satisfying for me to see the TP Bar climbs up and reaches enough point to use X-Slash more than just 1 time.
Spamton took me a few minutes to figure out but jevil took me DAYS
What about when spamton knows about you're snowgraves
This man is clearly not seen Spanton in the Snowgrave route ( he deals 30-50 HP)
Edit: you only have cd bagels of your healing item and you only have kris but for 40 tp you can get fried Pipis (heals 120) and the best armor is royal pin and silver watch
I have played snowgrave in a recent video, he’s tough!
You did forget to mention Snowgrave Spamton. Now, yes, Snowgrave Spamton is the harder version of Spamton Neo. You only have Kris, and probably your best healing item is CD Barels, witch only heals half of your HP. But dispite it being harder then normal Spamton, I still consider Jevil harder. Mainly because A: The fight is mostly the same as it was in the normal route. B: Jevil's attacks are still rather difficult to douge and are harder (in my opinion). And C: to compenscate for you only having Kris, your givin X-Slash, witch for only 25 TP, it can takes out over 500 DAMAGE, and a healing move with heals 3/4 of your HP. So yeah, dispite being the more difficult version of the fight, its still WAY easier then Jevil. (Plus, on my 2nd playthrough, I beat him first try. And even on my 1st playthrough, it only took me 3 or 4 attempts, so...)
Yes! I realized I didn't talk about Spamton Neo in snowgrave, I have done a video on playing the Snowgrave route so maybe in the future I will make an updated video now that I have finally fought the snowgrave variant.

I keep hearing this! I’ll have to fight Snowgrave at some point! Initially I didn’t think snowgrave would be a lot stronger then the normal route but without Ralsei and Susie I can see how it would be a more difficult fight
The way to do beat jevils ass easier is by pirouetteing on the 4th turn if youre gonna do the pacifist and on 2nd and 4th turn if youre gonna kill him
Honestly I still think spamton is still harder because if you take the HARDEST version of spamton during snowgrave you’re solo and cannot buy anything because the shops are gone making the fight extremely hard

Jevil's harder imo, not just because his attacks are purely chaos, but I can kinda cheese Spamton with Kris defending, Susie doing stuff, and Ralsei healing. Meanwhile Jevil looking at a healthy Ralsei that just got up and decided Ralsei's gonna be down or crippled next turn.
First jevil was harder for me but now after beating jevil a million times he is easier than snowgrave spamton for me
It took me two tries to beat Jevil, though I admittedly used all of my healing items. The King fight was nothing in comparasion though.
I lost to jevil 50+ times.
Slammed NEO in less than 4 tries.
Jevil is LEAGUES harder than spamton.
From easiest to hardest:
Spamton neo sparing/attacking(neither gave me trouble, about as easy)
Jevil attacking(slightly easier because you don't need all party members active to make progress)
Jevil sparing(not counting attacking him until tired thats cheating lol)
Spamton neo snowgrave(Simply took the longest for me to beat, very hard)
I personally thought that pacifying jevil was easier because of how much you defend for TP and when ever you use hypnosis, jevil's attacks are temporarily weaker.

Firstly I beated jevel in almost 25 tries but spamtom only in 3 tries
and yes the jevil fight was seriously way harder as it was so random but spamtom it was only the eyes nose one which gave any trouble and the final attack was easier than any attack but jevil's finally attack brought all the party members hp to lower than 30s plus the carrousel and the attack where there were 3 different projectiles was just too hard to dodge and also it lasts way longer and we cant see howw much we have pacified jevil. Overall spamtom was also not easy but not as hard as jevil because of randomness

Spamton took me over a dozen tries, spefically because of the attack where he crawls towards you. Jevil took me 2 or 3 tries. I will say though that I did fight spamton first

- Атаки больно ранят
- Тем, кто не упирается в оружие будет плохо, ведь его нельзя пощадить

came back to ch 1 after coming to ch 2 and seeing that i forgor jevil, must say took me 30+ tries to beat jevil with topcake.. and meanwhile only like 10+ on spamton neo.
Based on time alone, Jevil is much harder. Even if you combine the length of time it took me to beat both spamton NEO in neutral and spamton NEO in snowgrave, Jevil still took longer.
I think part of the reason Jevil is harder than Spamton Neo is because normally we do Jevil first. By the time we reach Spamton Neo, we’re better, and we defeat him quickly. That said, Jevil is still harder, but I don’t think he’s as hard as some people are saying here.

since we all know that SNeo is easily stronger than jevil bc he's got higher stats
and he even said it himself he said smth like "I FINALLY SURPASSED THAT GOD DAMN [CLOWN AROUND TOWN]"

anyways spamton is canonically stronger than jevil
but when we compare boss fights the stat gap between SNeo and delta warriors is smaller than between Deltawarriors and jevil
also SNeo fight can somehow skip some parts of it
if you have like 70% - 90% spare and spamton uses one final disappointment (yes i named his ultimate one final disappointment) he's immediately gonna reach 93% spare
also jevil's attacks are harder to dodge
get me the hardest SNeo attack and compare it to final chaos
jevil is def harder or prob SNeo slightly bc final chaos isn't really that hard unless ur really unlucky bc the entire fight is pure randomness and chaos
now compare all of spamton's attack to mixed chaos bombs

so jevil is harder in gameplay and SNeo is harder canonically

I think spamton neo is harder for one simple reason:
Jevil took me 2 tries to beat without healing
Spam neo took 6
(For quick context i've beaten jevil and spamton neo on all routes first and jevil is the only one i had to try twice on my first time before going straight into noheal, no practice no nothing)

@@ventura9307 Honesty, the step from noheal to heal on those bosses isn't really that big because of the res mechanic and the fact that the heals aren't too effective since they're spread so thin, if it was UT mechanics this'd be alot more impressive
Leave it to deltarune fans to rank which of secret boss fights is harder despite there only being 2/7 chapters done and therefore literally only two bosses to look at. Like why not just like- wait and then rank or analyze when they’re all done. like damn.
Well from what I understand we just like making videos on what we have right now to make, when more chapters come out we will do videos on the newer bosses, but for now we have 2 chapters so why not talk about them?

Yea that’s fair, I’ve realized a big issue with this video is that I have not covered Snowgrave….here’s a secret….I forgot about snowgrave! I’ve heard that snowgrave neo is very strong so perhaps after a rematch during snowgrave I should revamp this video!
In the snow grave route I find spamton alot harder then jevil but in neutral route spamton is way easier
I played Deltarune Chapter 1 and 2 consecutively two years ago. Played entirely blind, only knowing that there was one superboss per chapter. Jevil is just slightly harder than Spamton NEO, though neither is honestly that difficult. The version of Spamton NEO you fight at the end of the alternative route is the hardest of the three, but again, it's nit that difficult.
Jevil's difficulty comes from the fact that its difficulty is extreme in contrast to everything else thrown at you thus far. On top of that, a lot of Jevil's early attacks are excessively easy to dodge, the fight only becomes a challenge halfway through. Chapter 1 is very chill overall, so you don't learn the battle mechanics quite as in-depth as you do in Chapter 2, because it's unnecessary.
Spamton's gimmicks resemble that of Jevil a lot really. Lots of multi-tasking, positioning, health management mostly. Spamton's fight's difficulty is all over the place - but by the time you've reached him, you have probably acquired enough knowledge to know how to prepare and to dodge them.
It took me roughly one hour to beat each if memory serves right. About half an hour for the alternative route Spamton fight, but that's mostly because I already roughly had his patterns memorised by this point.
I came back to the enhanced last fight a few months ago and managed to defeat him on my second try, too.

God I hope the next chapter boss fight is GENUINELY really hard. Jevil kicked my ass when I was younger but I Speedrun genocide in UT now and I beat Spamton NEO in both modes on my first try.

Neutral spamton neo is easier but when you compare jevil to the snow grave route spamton neo it is fairly even in difficulty each focusing on different battle styles
Because Kris is all by themselves, and they have no party members to help them in battle.
Also yes, Spamton Neo's attacks are extremely higher, and more brutal than the Pacifist Route.

As in snowflake spamtons attacks become tricky and the only reason kris would win is because of Noelle and even then Noelle was extremely powerfull at the time.

With the Jevil fight i wasn't afraid to use my items and spared him with 0 deaths and killed him with 1 death
With the Spamton NEO fight i was stingy with my items, not wanting to use any (for some reason) and i spared him with 2 deaths but i feel like my deaths were due to me not being used to using the justice soul (i also forgot about the F1 thing)
HOWEVER "Snowgrave" Spamton NEO, i lost more than 10x that with a little over 20 deaths to kill him
(i personally like Jevil more) out of the 2 normal versions of the fights, Jevil is 100% the harder one, once you get used to using the Justice soul Spamton NEO is of little difficulty
obviously the Snowgrave/weird route Spamton Neo fight is much harder for various reasons, but if there was a weird route for chapter 1 i am sure the Jevil fight in it would also be a nightmare

@@Spiffy131 i was honestly a little surprised with how little i died as well, my first playthrough of Deltarune chapters 1+2 was about a week after my second playthrough of Undertale genocide and the first time i beat it
but what was most surprising to me, is after i didn't touch the game for 6 years after failing to beat Undyne the Undying and dying ~50 times i somehow beat Undyne the Undying with 3 deaths and Sans with 1 death

Spamton NEO is pretty easy compared to jevil IMO. The snowgrave counterpart is harder yea but, still not harder than jevil imo.
If ur doing pacifist on Jevil, you gotta have all 3 in your team alive, the attacks are hard to do, especially Devilsknife IMO, then you have like 1 break attack.

While I agree with you that jevil is the harder fight, I think it’s a lot more closer than you think, the act pirouette (I think that’s what its called) goes on a pattern, and if you’re able to keep track of it the fight becomes way easier

I beat Jevil in Four-Five tries. Snowgrave Spamton took me around 70-80 and even then i had to Resort to Cheating by dying 10 times so the pity mechanic activates and he doesn't get Angry when i do the Big Shot Glitch

Its worth noting that there's also the snowgrave route version, which has several added modifiers to make it more difficult. There's also the fact that if you use the Big Shot Spam enough for a turn you can trigger the rage mode, which makes him deal much more damage.

i know most people would disagree but for me at least in took me SO much longer to beat spamton neo then it did to beat jevil and i would say i am pretty good at the game but MAN did i find spamton neo hard, and if am going to be honest i don't know why i found it so much harder. also on a side note if i had to rank the deltarune secret bosses and the undertale genocide bosses(sans and undyne) on how hard they are, for my first time doing them it would be 4: jevil 3: spamton neo 2:undyne the undying 1:sans, but now it would be, 4: undyne the undying 3: jevil 2: spamton neo 1: sans. (i moved undyne down because if you do that fight more than ONCE it becomes the easiest fight ever it is the only fight i have every no hit and i put jevil so low because again same reason as undyne he get so easy)

Honestly I find both to be easy. I only ever got messed by two attacks in each. For jevil it was the carosels and for spamton neo it was the ones with the telephone hands. Other than that they weren't too hard. I played them both on pc and switch amd didn't really struggle that much beating either one. I did lose about the same amount of times to both so to me they are on the same level. I honestly replay the game just to fight both of them again.

Jevil is definetly harder than base neutral route Spamton NEO, but oh boi. Enraged Snowgrave Spamton NEO is extremely hard. It took me way more tries to beat him than Jevil. So yes, normally Jevil is harder, but Spamton has harder variants.
I have not heard of enraged snowgrave neo, I’ll have to check it out 🤔
@@Spiffy131 there was this glitch to rapidly fire multiple [BIG SHOTS]. Rather than patching this glitch, Toby made Spamton NEO become even stronger if this glitch was abused. Both Spamton NEOs can be enraged by doing this and since Snowgrave Spamton is the harder boss of the two, the enraged version is quite difficult to beat.

I still believe jevil is harder but everyone can have their own opinions! I myself haven’t fought snowgrave neo and i know the fight must be harder due to the loss of Susie and Ralsei, however spamton weaknesses in this video do apply to snowgrave. However I should play snowgrave at some point and if my opinions change I’ll make an updated video!
