where i live the gold is also along bedrock. however, float gold, which is gold that has washed downstream, is continually moving downstream with floods. I prospected two streams that had
been mined over several years/decades. I found specs and flakes of gold in the top six inches of gravels and none along bedrock. Using this information I could have searched upstream for
the source of the gold. In one case the miners built a small dam upstream to collect enough water to hydraulically wash the stream in a flood with sluice boxes to catch it downstream. I tried
digging in the basin above the dam without success. roots made it way too hard to dig without equipment. So I checked between the dam and where i had found the float gold. Again, no
success. There was a spot in an outcrop that I could see digging, but couldn't find any gold. I also checked every stream drop and pool with no success.

Before the Chinese the Natives mined as well.
Why say Chinese miners instead of immigrant workers and then not mention the actual mine owners?
    Shouldn't they be
