Thanks for the vid ✌️
Cant store internally, dont get too excited.
But you’re still paying a monthly subscription for music you can’t keep? It don’t make sense….
Most DJs have their own music. If I'm understanding this correctly, this is probably best used for those requests you might get that you don't have in your current library. You just have to figure out which subscription works best for you. This can also be used to cover a whole set as well.
With offline mode you could definitely have all your music and playlist in the cloud. Since a local file is on your computer.
I've been ripping my 12 inch single records onto Serato scratch live since 2006! It's never ending! I also have djcity & lnrp. I'm never switching over to a controller. I keep it real on the 1200's!
At the end of all this .. You have NOTHING ! That’s the only issue I have with these type of services. But good video👍🏾
OMG , this is huge. I was waiting for intro/ and outros, and other stuff and 1000 songs. wow perfect
Me too! This is way way exciting!!!
Terry im just starting out with a ddj-400. What is the best site to buy rap/hip hop songs to build my catalog and use beatsource to supplement
Cheers I sub'd. 🍻
What do you think about bpm supreme?
Freaking finally!!!
At $30 it’s having your Record pool on the fly!!!
I’ll give it a second shot.
so basically you can stream and download the songs to your computer folder or usb ?
I love this video! I'm also convinced Beatsource is fantastic but... one big but... I live en work in Belgium... The music available is just not good... There is no real selection of Dutch music what I need for weddings. I'm also a Drum&Bass and Techno dj. I can't find half of my favorite artists. I hope they will make a more European catalog! When this is fixed, I immediately stop my Tidal payment. Or, Tidal can follow the Beatsource policy ;-)
I’m sort of new and confused, can you just download straight off of Beatsource and add to your serato library? Or is it only for streaming ?
I have it but it still lacks on the electronic side of music so I use Beatport as my back up.
Game changer!
FAN-FUCKIN-TASTIC!!! GREAAAAAAATE NEWS!!!! THANK YOU FOR THE HEADS UP CT!!!
I love your videos CT and this info is very impressive. I don’t Dj for money anymore(since 2001) but I enjoy watching your vids and keeping up with the new tech. Excuse my ignorance, but what are “Edits”? Are they remixes of songs? I am an old school vinyl Dj who just spins one or two hours per week for fun on my dust collecting controller. I like this whole Beatport thing and it’s features but I don’t see myself paying for something I won’t really use more than once per week. That would be like having Netflix and watching one movie or show per week to me.
An edit is basically a song that is altered to make it more dj friendly. Extended intros and outros for mixing in other tracks. Or a track may be mixed down to an Acapella or instrumental that wasn't available before.
No streaming for me. I'd rather own. I'm not going to lease a car and I'm damn sure not leasing any music.
💯
GAME CHANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAMN 1000.. Truly tempting!!!
I primarily use BPM supreme but I might be changing that
so do i get to keep the music i download and stream it on other services.
Only while paying the subscription
how do your sort playlists A-Z in Serato?
You unfortunately can’t in serato. I’m sure it’s coming but yeah, frustrating at best.
So I populate my locker of 300 songs over a 2 months timeframe, It comes a point in time I have to stop subscription to beatsource for maybe a month, job loss or some extreme circumstance do I still have access to that music in the locker
Not if you aren’t subscribed. It’s just like any other streaming service.
@@ClevelandTerry Thanks, so Im looking at this service as leasing i dont own the music, i have never streamed music so i was jus inquiring about service, I like when i can download music and have a physical copy as mine to do as i please with, I would stick with record pools for now. Its like apple you buy music or movies and you cannot use it anywhere but on their platform.
I have a very important question. I'm on Tidal, and I'm wondering if Beatsource has the same music catalog, meaning the list of songs, to use in my DJ sets. Can someone clarify this for me? Thank you
Tidal is more comprehensive.
I went from Tidal to Beatscource now
I haven't bothered to use any streaming services because Serato doesn't let you record your sets with streaming. For what I do, I need to record my sets. Do you know if that restriction is still in place?
@@ClevelandTerry That's true of course. Which one do you recommend? I'll probably use OBS.
@@waynebo248 OBS is great, but you can also record right into Ableton or any software that accepts in audio in using the "make audio available" setting in Serato.
@@ClevelandTerry Thanks! Somehow I didn't know about that feature. 🤦🏾♂️ Running it into my DAW would be ideal. 👍🏾
Yea I record in audacity its free and reliable no problems here.
What’s the difference between the BeatSource’s offline locker and Tidal’s offline playlists?
Tidal does not have an offline mode
Just after I saw your post I was on BS for hours and it is a game changer, I had to cancel BPMS / Latino BS is way better than the Rest all the songs in the set are bangers
I’ll be swapping my DJ City account over to Beatsource now :).
Not now, but RIGHT NOW
I'm too old school for this. I need my music locally. I won't be eating any shoes any time soon 😂😂
lol. You're never too old.
the other streaming sites are probably thinking of upgrading their services
I joined but noticed they don't have much Country. Being in Texas I need Country and more specifically Texas Country. I am not a big fan, but need it for many mobile gigs. It would help alot to have that genre on the fly.
Let me talk to the guys.
Interesting that Beatport Link hasn't changed.
I don't even need a record pool anymore
Right I’m getting rid of my Franchise account 20$ I’m throwing away every month.
Sounds good! But what I always ask myself when it comes to streaming at gigs: In the past it was said that it is important to keep the wifi switched off during the performance to avoid possible Serato crashes. How is this different now? Did they work on that at Serato?
That was relavent maybe 5-10 years ago but with today's wi-fi speeds and the solid state drives that mostly work like onboard memory, the bottlenecks have been removed.
I use my phone as the hotspot and plug it into my laptop with a cord. Better connection and no wifi risk.
how do you do Live Stream if you do Beatsource.
Beatsource does not effect your ability to live stream. It effects your ability to RECORD locally.
o ok thanks
Finally!!!!
Still not for me .I use a hard drive.
We all use hard drives. 😀
wouldnt use it in million years...easier and safer to have the lappy loaded up..
Never say never.
Beatsource also has a site where you can purchase music for download like a record pool. The streaming services really are money if you play a long wedding reception or club where you are accepting requests, people will always find a way to request a song you have yet to download...js... i primarily use hard drive music but at my club i get at least 3 requests every night for something I havent downloaded yet so this is awesome for me!
@@DJTeddyJetts but you can go to a record pool and download it for the low cost of your monthly subscription of $19.99 and own it. With beatsource you pay the $30 to be able to access the music and if you want to purchase it, you have to pay $1.29 per song. There are pros and cons to both types of services. I personally like to own my music. However, I do see the benefits of that 1,000 song locker....
Indeed it’s a major milestone… I’m sure soon it will be just like Tidal… unlimited offline…
But the only real breakthrough would be to negotiates to allow users stream music on any social platform anytime anywhere including mixing with video… that’s the future.
Still extremely pleased with 1K offline track.
Tidal does not offer offline for dj streaming.
What I meant is offline listening …
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
All we need now is a robot to replace the DJ and we are good...
Because of a streaming service? That’s a reach. Sync was more of a factor than this.
@@ClevelandTerry I guess what I'm getting at is that to me, this is just another 'digital' step closer to removing thought or thinking away from the human and into the hands of the corporates. I just did a search on Beatsource - and they didn't have anything I searched for and I was glad (and means this services is of no use to me). But I guess it depends on what type of DJ you are, an open format DJ then okay, great. Just IMO. Cheers!
@@djtropicaldisco yeah, it’s definitely not for everyone. If you are a huge house guy you’d be better off with beatport and I know their country is pretty nonexistent at the moment but I believe it’s just the start.
BPM supreme is better, why stream when you can own
Exactly
It's a supplement to your physical library. It's not meant to be your only source of music. For the right mobile dj, it makes sense.
"Beatsource LINK streams at 128 AAC (equivalent to 192 MP3). Beatsource LINK PRO and PRO + stream at 256 AAC (equivalent to 320 MP3)."
That's a non-starter for me. I prefer to only pay for lossless audio. Paying for lossy codec streaming, even with more "offline" locker stuff is beyond uninteresting.
Albeit, I was performing as a live musician (mostly trumpet) in festivals in the 1980s. I have decades worth of vinyl, CDs, AIFFs, WAVs, FLACs of things which are difficult to find even by illicit torrent tracker means. I consider all recorded music to be a step down and lossy experience from a real live band, and some of the bigger sound systems on which I have been blessed to perform on as a deejay, explicitly prohibit their performers from using lossy formats such as MP3s and AACs and that's probably why we got along so well. High quality sound amplification sound as encountered with Funktion One and Meyer Sound Laboratories setups, accentuate any flaws which might be audible in a recording.
I'm also the sort of deejay who will give mixer vendors grief over 24bit48KHz sound cards, given that I have 32bit384KHz recording gear to keep on part with DMM vinyl mastering of the likes of Record Industry in the Netherlands, so I may care more about audio quality than a lot of run of the mill sorts, but I know I am not alone in that (e.g. atomtm.bandcamp.com/track/mp3-moral-poverty-three)
I would rather never waste the disk nor bandwidth on lossy formats. By the same token, I wish lossless video codecs were more widespread, but then again, I was invited into the home of one of the authors of the Dirac lossless video codec years ago, so I realize I am probably an outlier, but without quality stickler sorts such as I, mastering would be even more atrocious than it often is.
By all means, lay it on thick with the DJ snobbery... none of your attendees give half a sh** about 90% of what you just said so you're just flexing on fellow DJs... most listeners aren't going to identify the difference between 192kb and completely lossless audio unless you are in a stadium...and even then... so keep flexin though. We are all happy for you and hope the best in all you endeavors!
fiiiire
Are you getting paid? Because you sold me...
Lol. Nope.
Your paying 30 dollars a month for music you can't keep
No, you’re paying 30$ a month for music you don’t necessarily need to own.
What self respecting DJ only needs 1000 tracks? 😂🤷🏾♂️
@@ClevelandTerry Club DJ here…each song is an average of 6 minutes but I meant in the full collection. We all have our current playlist and our “archive”.
I could see a track or two for an emergency request but the whole night over wifi? Not a chance, not for me. It’s still a great idea and for the right DJ could be a godsend.
@@Parliament9502 I think you may have misunderstood the video. That's 1000 songs downloaded and ready to be played on your local drive. No wifi needed. The wifi piece is icing on the cake. Let me be clear, no one is saying don't have your own catalog of songs, but if your catalog was questionable, this is a nice supplement.
While online, you can change which 1000 songs to take to your offline gig... its to be used as a SUPPLEMENT to your already downloaded music, plus you get their entire catelog if you are online... what self respecting DJ doesn't utilize any option that expands their music selection? 🤔
@@DJTeddyJetts Having access to the full site seems like a better selling point than being able to download tracks on the fly during the gig. I wonder how many DJs are playing strictly downloads during the gig and having their night screwed up cause the wifi is horrible in some hotel basement ballroom…
You’re not understanding. You don’t download at the gig, you download at home so they are stored on your local drive. You have access to everything on WiFi, or 1000 offline files that are always on your computer.
