Hi Rachel, This is awesome. As you age gracefully, (and you are). Please consider in the future teaching this as a course. you explain things quite well, you use laymen's terms so that anyone can understand, you are credible and you don't disappoint. Thank you so much .
I appreciate your kindness and time here on the channel. Always happy to help. Thanks for your comment. ☺️
Appreciate you 👊 Gonna check out the service for house/edm which gets costly to buy the tracks one by one
If you’re looking for house and EDM you’re gonna wanna check out Beatport. ☺️
Just the information I was looking for! Thank you!! Great video!
Happy to help!
I love your reviews they are so insightful and deep enough to demonstrate the value.
I appreciate your time to check this out and your kindness! Welcome to the channel.
Look as if Beat Source is leading the pack. I love the fact that you can download up to 1k tracks to use off line. Been streaming for several years and also use my other’s services purchases and my personal inventory but I really like being able to get to just about any song my guest can on their phone. Helps me learn what that specific crowd likes.
Tricks I’ve learned that may help someone else. Let the entire song load. Wow. Yours was fast with beat source by the way. I use an IPAD and use my cellular data instead of the venue Wi-Fi. I have great service I guess but would do Wi-Fi as a last resort. Just a personal preference based on experience. And yes, have your requested songs on your hard drive or downloaded.
Change can be uncomfortable but will happen with or without you. Remember DJs saying things like. I’ll never use a Column Array. I’ll never trust Bluetooth.
I never connect wirelessly to my speakers or trust battery powered lights or speakers. I’ll never use a computer. Vinyl or die. Lol.
Thanks again for a great review and I hope some of the other streaming services follow suit with the features Beat source offers.
I appreciate your time to check this out and your comment. I agree it’s hard sometimes to change with new tech, especially when the “old way” still works. But it’s important to at least be aware of new tech. I’m not trying to convince anyone to start streaming, I just want them to have an educated understanding of how it works and why it MAY be a good choice for them. We don’t know, what we don’t know… ya know? 🤪
My only concern with streaming is having artists pull their music, like with what’s happening with Spotify right now. Having a physical copy means I will always have it available regardless of politics or other unknown factors. That’s is the ONLY downside I see right now. As you can see Beatsource really leveled up and delivered something that is extremely functional and reliable!
Thanks again for your feedback!
Even vinyl warps. Just have many ways to play music. That’s the best way!
Great review Rachel! At first I was a little skeptical about streaming but based on your presentation, I might definitely give it try. Appreciate your channel and all of your great content. Much success for you this year. 😀
As a newer DJ I absolutely love Beatsource! It was overwhelming starting out thinking how much money I would need to spend to create a library of music. This is my main source of music play during gigs. I use the offline locker when I know that the Wi-Fi is going to be a problem. I also keep emergency playlist in locker just in case something goes horribly wrong, but that hasn’t happened as of yet. I also use my own Wi-Fi and don’t depend on the venues in fear of everyone else using it. I do carry a flash drive with me as well, but rarely use it. The playlists are also a game changer on beatsource.
Appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts!
Amazing video! I just subscribed to Beatsource link due in no small part to the information you have shown here.
Thanks Rachel - now subscribed and going to look at that useful looking VDJ UI set up you have there as well!!
Thanks for your time to check this out. Enjoy @beatsourcelink!
Bravo Dj Rachel, You are one of my favorite Dj Vloggers on UA-cam! I like you use Virtual Dj and love the stems! I actually used Virtual Dj when it was Automix. I may have been convinced to try beatsource and it's all because of you. Keep up the good work. And Happy Djing.
I appreciate your kindness and checking this out. My biggest point here was just for have DJs try it. If you find out it’s not for you that’s totally cool! But I think it’s important for our industry to at least know what’s out there for us with technology. ☺️ Hope you dig the service.
I go back to Automix/PCDJ Red days as well.

Dude thank you for taking the time maybe I'll see you in August
Hope so! I’ll be in Vegas and in Atlantic City! Thanks for stopping by the channel!
This looks uh mazing !!!! Definitely will roll with this for wedding season this year!
Really appreciate this vid been having headaches with the other platforms 🙏🏿 lifesaver
fantastic Rachel! i liked a lot the transition with scratching and echo!😜 you discovered me a pair of things about virtual dj, but few months ago i started to use prime 4 and denon soft. j. i need to get used to my new gear without losing the ability with vdj
Great information, I live in a similar area with limited internet and was hesitant about the service. Definitely signing up!
I wouldn’t use it otherwise! Terrible service in my area. I appreciate your time to check this out. ☺️
Great video! You covered it well! Thank you!
Thanks for stopping by! ☺️
It's Alex here n waiting I'm in the front seat hehe
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it! See ya in a few!
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Thank You for another GREAT VIDEO, looking forward to subscribing to Beatsource! Stay GORGEOUS!!!

Great video. Thank you 💖
Good to know and great tips about beatsource. You are the best 👌🏼 👍🏻
❤️🙏🏻
Thanks for another great vid!. Very informative!
Appreciate you checking out the video! 💪🏻💯
Awesome job thanks for the heads up
Thanks for checking this out! I appreciate it!
That’s sandbox mode is a nice touch!
It definitely comes in handy!
@@DJRachelLynch I think all dj software need this. I’m gonna try VDJ
As a tidal user I will switch to beatsource. Playing NYE event and the internet goes down because everyone is texting and calling at the same time so the network can't handle it.tracks were freezing. It was horrible. I do have internal music but I had my playlist on tidal. I love streaming music because there are so many tracks out there and quality is fantastic. Beatsource looks like the way to go now
Oh and Sandbox is really freaking cool
You are perfect in everything
❤️🙏🏻
love it thanks to Nick spinella !
Glad you enjoy the service.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks for checking this out!
Love your vids. Starting out as a side gig dj and you explain it so well. Any suggestions on beginner speakers without subs?
Thanks for stopping by the channel. Pleasure to connect. ☺️ The one thing I feel DJs should not skimp on is their speakers. It’s probably the most important investment you’ll and impacts the types of events you can do and the guests directly.
A great mid-level speaker like the QSC K12/K12.2 will last you for YEARS. In fact, I rocked mine for about a decade before upgrading to the Electro voice ETX line. Even something like the EV ELX/ZLX would be a great choice. Sound is very personal, so I feel that a DJ should go listen to speakers before making the investment. If you can allocate as much money as you can to your speakers. it’s a long-term investment and is a very important part of your setup. Also, consider looking at secondhand stuff to save a few bucks. Hope that helps and best of luck!
Great brands…
EV
RCF
QSC
I tend to use a streaming only for requests i always set my Hotspot first before I start my laptop I also use karafun 2 for karaoke due to songs being added daily I use Spotify because I transfer to tidal or I can transfer to beatsource link as well my clients send me the music list to help get the right version of a song as well as right version like if told me you want a song crazy thats what you told me nothing else I wouldn't know which verison or who sung it so a Spotify list is well across the board because everyone knows about it lol
Hey thanks for sharing that I do use screaming services when I dj I have my own Internet on my iPad so I don’t have any problems with in venue Internet or anything.
Thanks for stopping by the channel!

Luv the classic Remixes that you rock! I would love to get some of those joints... where can I purchase some of them???
Check out XMIX Remix. 🙂
good information
Thank you. 🙂 Appreciate you checking this out.
@@DJRachelLynch wish I knew more about how to use virtual dj, like how to set up the auto mix. how to get new skins for a different look. I'm new to using it.
@@jimsargent7288 ua-cam.com/video/9HHGslVnPnQ/v-deo.html
Yeah I hear and see a lot of dj's banging on that it's unreliable and prone to fail. Well guess what anything can fail! Laptop, software, hdd/ssd even the dj can fail... haha. Ive been using the VDJ streaming service for over 2 years and I can honestly say I haven't had an issues with streaming. The trick is to set yourself to fail. Meaning my internet connection has dropped out I've plan for this move to my local folders. Just like when you software locks up switch to your back up simple stuff. I'm going to give Beatsource LINK a go it look straight forward and easy to novitiate. Great topic thanks
Thanks for always being a valuable guide. As someone with an XMIX subscription, do you think beatsource could replace the pool entirely or would both still be needed?
Thanks so much for checking this out! I’ve been with XMIX Remix since 2011. They are literally my favorite pool. I do not think this could replace XMIX completely, but would be a KILLER combo.
First, Iove Beatsource for everything you mentioned,,,but I had issues as a Traktor user, so wanted to let other Tk users know. I couldn't save tracks to my locker and it would crash Traktor when I streamed, pretty much unusable for me. I notified Beatsource peeps and was told to let Traktor know about it. Pretty disappointed that I was brushed off like that, especially since I think it is an awesome service, once it works for me that is. I kno I can just move to Vdj, but I love me some Traktor 🤷♂️lol
I appreciate your feedback and I always want transparency on my channel. Thanks for letting other Traktor users know so they can keep an eye on it if needed. I personally haven’t experienced any issues, but that doesn’t mean they don’t happen. Any software can crash at anytime. The challenge is deciphering if it’s a laptop issue, software issue, or streaming issue. Hope you’ve worked the problem out. Keep us posted.
I like your demonstration..would you do the same with serato pro..just asking...
Sure! I can do a video with Beatsource Link and Seratro. There are already great videos available if you're interested right now. Virtual DJ rarely gets the love or attention it deserves so that is why I chose to showcase Beatsource LINK with VDJ and not any other software. I can tell you now, that it works the same for the most part. Thanks for tuning in. I appreciate your time.
Hi Rachel, great video!
I know that you're usual setup sometimes includes two laptops connected to your Roland 707m so do you know if you are able to "cache" the same offline tracks via VDJ on your backup laptop and use these if there is a problem with your primary laptop?
You did a very good video a while back on the importance of being able to perform to the same standard regardless of whether you are using you're main laptop or need to switch to another one.
I think that more and more DJ's are hopefully beginning to understand the importance of being prepared for a worse case scenario like your main laptop 'giving up' or having a drink poured over it accidentally or otherwise.
I've had a quick look on their website but can't seem to find any answer to the specific answer on the availability of a 'mirrored' cache of the same songs on a backup laptop.
Hope you can help?
Thanks
DJ Gaz (UK)
I read on their site that “You can use LINK with up to 5 devices.” Since the information /metadata is stored within the VDJ XML file and not within Beatsource specifically, I don’t think it work automatically transfer to the second laptop unless you shared the same XML file between both computers, which is easy to do. If that makes sense.
I appreciate your support on the channel. Thanks for your kind comments!
@@DJRachelLynch Thanks for that reply, I'll investigate further and probably sign up for a free trial 👍
Hi Rachel. Looove your page. I'm new at DJING. And I love your wedding gigs. I had a couple of instances where there was no wifi available. So I had to play music from bluetooth. Which was a pain because I couldn't use my controller. I added a personal wifi to my cellphone account. I worked good. It just took too long to download my music from Tidal. So I'm gonna give Beatsource a go
I have a question. Can I use Serato with Beatsource? Thanks in advance. Did I mention that I loove your page?
It works with all major DJ software programs including Serato. 🙂🤘🏻
I like your VDJ layout. That's not the default skin is it? If not, what skin are you using?
Also, in regards to streaming, I have nothing against streaming as long as you have a solid backup local library. I upgrade my laptop to have a large internal hard drive of tracks (and a phone backup of bangers), but there is nothing wrong with having access to the whole wide world of music for incidental use.
This actually is the default skin. 🙂 I just made some small adjustments in the settings right on the main skin. I only use the default skin. Works the best IMO and I’ll never have any compatibility issues with my hardware.
Thanks so much for your time to check out the video. I agree 💯with having a local database if possible. 👌🏻
Does VDJ (or Beatsource Link) give the possibility to show the key in Camelot mode ?
Thanks for that video, not sure I'll add that streaming thing yet to my setup cause wifi and mobile internet aren't great where I usually play, but maybe when things start to get better with traveling, it could be a good backup option in case of losing a USB/hard drive when oversea :)
Yes. The Camelot Key is available in VDJ and Beatsource. All VDJ features work with Beatsource. If you watch the video in full you’ll see that you don’t need intent to use this service. 🙂 That was the point of the is tutorial, so DJs could see how it works with and without a good internet connection.
Rachel, is there a way to tell when searching tracks within VDJ from beatsource what tracks are clean? Most of the tracks just say original mix, but I have seen some say original mix and they were clean and others dirty.
It will say “clean” in the title/remix section. I always try and preview my tracks before playing them live, but if I can’t do that I will only play from the playlists clearly marked clean or edits with the same tag. Original mix does not mean clean.
Thanks Rachel, just to clarify on the legally licensed music element. Does this mean a DJ can stream Beatport / Beatsource tracks without fear of contravening copyright laws in a public performed set?
Legal in this sense means it’s properly licensed MUSIC and the artist are getting paid appropriately.
DJs are not responsible for licensing to play in public. That falls on the venue owner such as a bar or nightclub. They are the ones that have to secure the license and pay the associated fees.
beatsource will not work with my virtual dj software all of sudden I was doing a gigs this pass weekend wen to used it for my Playlist I created couldn't get to open wen I clicks on it but saying am logged on wen on UA-cam check few other people have same problem am using a mac book pro .do you have the same problem too?
I am a windows/PC user. I haven’t experienced this.
Log out of beat source and log back in. If that doesn’t work try to remove the Documents/VirtualDJ/Cache/Beatsource folder and then log in again.
Rachel, I'm not sold on streaming. I mean how many songs will you actually stream at an event that you have never heard before. I just don't get it. I much prefer to know (more or less) what I am going to play at one of my weddings. You need to know the music before you play it right?
I suggest you check out the entire video. 🙂Beatsource is so much more than “just streaming” or having a tool to take a off beat request.
It offers an actual offline database where you can access tracks you’ve hand selected without internet, as well as access curated professionally made playlists. The reason I made this is to address particular misconceptions about steaming and show how capable their service really is. I think you’ll be surprised how cool this service is!
Is your daytime job a corporate trainer? I only hear the word "Wheel House" from trainers. I use Beatsource with Serato and It's awesome.
I am a corporate trainer. 😂😂
Can you do tutorial for that scratch with a echo?
The scratch is a preset available in VDJ. Simply click on the scratch bank (next to the hot cues, STEMS, etc) to activate it.
The echo is also available in the drop down menu of effects. 🙂
Can you send playlist from other platforms
With 3rd party software, I believe so. I haven't done it though. Check out something called SoundIIZ.
Can I record my set while streaming ?
“When using Beatsource LINK, the recording feature of the DJ software is automatically disabled. To solve this problem, we teamed up with Mixcloud to offer LINK users a direct way to record live DJ sets and host them on Mixcloud’s fully licensed platform.
Mixcloud Pro users can use Mixcloud Live to route the audio from Serato DJ directly to Mixcloud. Once you finish live streaming, the audio from your set is automatically saved as a draft on your Mixcloud profile. Just add a description and artwork and you’re ready to publish your mix.”
@Scott Aber correct. 🙂
Can I record a set with beat source on serato
No. You can’t record DRM protected music.
hey Rachel can we use this with serrato ?
Yes. Beatsource Link is currently integrated with Serato DJ Pro, Pioneer DJ rekordbox, Algoriddim djay, Denon DJ Engine OS, VirtualDJ, Hercules DJUCED, and PCDJ DEX3
@@DJRachelLynch ok i am going for it thank you so much as always you put me up to date and make my DJ life so much easier Gracias amiga !!
Hi Rachel ok hmm I have used Beatport then RENEWED it and now it simply will NOT work anymore nor download please thanks
I’ve never used Beatport only Beatsource. I’m sorry!
Just put beatsource on recordbox and im not convinced. Very laggy, some of the tracks won't sync up. No app, the website on the phone isn't great. I'll see how i get on.
The off line locker works great that’s how I use it, beatport link is far too expensive and kind of pointless, take usbs plus the lap top, use Spotify playlists to dj with through beatsource and it’s a game changer for multi format DJing work.
Hi Rachel... does this service provide country music?
Some but not a ton. I was told they were working on expanding their collection.
@DJRachelLynch That's a bummer... I really like it, but in Texas country music is essential.
Thanks for the fast response.
I can't get any music offline. Show me please
Are you subscribed to the appropriate plan?
Which skin are you using on virtual DJ?
Default. Always. 👌🏻

@@chrisgirardi2827 even if you click the tabs at the top?
@@DJRachelLynch ahhh I need to mess around with it :) Just switched to VDJ recently
IDK, streaming services look like loads of content but the same content in the end. If I start to look deeper at them it will be to know what shouldn´t be in my playlist I think.
Even if it so much slower I will keep picking my tracks one by one and as much far away from beatport and cia as I can.
Am I wrong? This services can help me to find the good stuff out of the shitty (for me) top lists?
Last night is a perfect example. Groom came up and asked for a song I didn’t have on my hard drive, “Patrick Wolf- The Magic Position.” Without my access to my streaming service, I never would have been able to play it for him.
It was a BIG song for the crowd. They loved it. It’s not about using it for playlists. It’s about keeping up with the same volume of content our clients have access to. They have whatever they want at the touch of their fingertips and expect us to be able to do the same. Unless you belong to many record pools, you’ll never keep up. Even pools don’t have “everything.”
@@DJRachelLynch I guess it is not for me then. I don´t play out of my selection and I ovoid to play any known track. I try to play things that no one in the crowd knows and that no other Dj plays. I try to use current music, as recent as I can, no classics not even obscure old music. If the track was made today better than yesterday. So I gravitate to very small labels, newcomers, producer friends and my own productions. If the tracks need some fixing (very young producers sometimes have good Ideas but no so good mixing/editing) I edit or remix them. Loads of work I know 🙂.
I guess that very young and small labels are out of this online services?
@@tentsio I guess it all depends on what type of DJ you are and what your client base is. Sounds like we serve very different markets. 🙂
With private events, you are expected to play what THEY want. I would never and could never turn down the groom because his music is out of my selection. It’s their day, and they want me to play the music they like and/or take care of their guests and what they want. Requests are a BIG part of this business. Also, most clubs and bars around here want you to play popular music like Bad Bunny, Lizzo, Meghan The Stallion, Jack Harlow, great “throwbacks,” and feel-good music people know.
It’s cool you like to produce. Personally, not my thing. I wanna download what I need when I need it, rock the party and move on to the next.
Beatsouce is a legal streaming service that partners with major labels to ensure artists get paid. I can only assume there aren’t any “underground” ones servicing their music to them. You could always check it out and cancel.
@@DJRachelLynch I understand. I respect a lot your line of work. I work with clubs, rave collectives and some festivals for dance sessions (mainly techno stuff with touches of several other genres). I make experimental stuff too (mainly for institutions, museums and such). People that know me expect that my work is going to be quite personal so everything is fine with the crowd most of the time. I use Bandcamp quite often when I do my searching for external tracks. I like their model because any artist or collective can upload music and the money you spend goes in its most part directly to them. I spend lots of time searching but I think that what I find in many cases is quite unique.
Between the search, editing, producing and rehearsing the set the process is extremely time consuming. I love it anyway 🙂
I will take a deeper look to beatsource though, I may be misjudging it and there is place inside for smaller labels or independent artists.
Thank a lot for your time and kindness.
@@tentsio take a look at BEATPORT instead of Beatsource. They are more electronic music focused and heavily favouring independent and small labels. This will be a MUCH better fit for you, now that I understand what your style and what your passion points are. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! Nice to meet you. Always great to see what other are doing out there. ✌🏻
Could I use it as my main music source?
I would recommend “owning your music” whenever possible. This is a great supplement.
@@DJRachelLynch thank you but for now I’m gonna use this as my main music source because my hard drive corrupted with all of my music 😢
@@DJMaxK89 I’m sorry to hear this. You should really have a backup of your music. Consider additional external hard drives in the future and do monthly backups. You should ALWAYS have another copy.
If you need to start over, take a look at a record pool like Xmix Remix or Promo Only. Best of luck!
@@DJRachelLynch thank you how would I back up my files?
@@DJMaxK89 it would go on another hard drive. Simply click and drag.
you can't record with beatsource? why?
Because of copyright and illegal file sharing.
When using Beatsource, the recording feature of the DJ software is automatically disabled. To solve this problem, they teamed up with Mixcloud to offer users a direct way to record live DJ sets and host them on Mixcloud’s fully licensed platform.
Mixcloud Pro users can use Mixcloud Live to route the audio from Serato DJ directly to Mixcloud. Once you finish live streaming, the audio from your set is automatically saved as a draft on your Mixcloud profile. Just add a description and artwork and you’re ready to publish your mix.
I would say no for streaming because what about prs licences on some website don't show it because some companies don't show it on there website when they need to show it
Yes it's give u idea on some new idea for playlist but it's all depends if someone ask u a song u haven't got it yes I might uses it as a back up but that like UA-cam wat people r still using and sending links but what if you got full WiFi but then the WiFi cuts mid way it's make.u as a dj look bad
You can still use this service if the internet cuts out or is bad. I do think it's still a good idea to have a local hard drive with the essentials, but you could absolutely use this with no hard drive if you had to. That is why they give you 1,000 track storage!
Bring a cat6e cable to every gig and plug directly into the router 😂
😂 Or that!
Great source of music but no country music?? Hummmm
Type country in the search bar where I typed “80s” or in your DJ software. You will see country results. I just typed in Toby Keith, Shania Twain, Kane Brown, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and got results. 😉 They have country music.
However, I do feel it could be represented specifically in their genres. Maybe shoot them a recommendation. 👌🏻
