  • This 1977 Corvette Greenwood Sebring GT is fresh off the 3D printer! But was all the effort worth it? This project was a first for me and I certainly learned a lot while building it. 3D printing has been a huge asset to the RC hobby, creating everything from simple accessories to functional chassis'. 3D printed model kits and RC bodies have huge potential for many projects, but sometimes it's simply best to choose a conventional plastic model kit. Whichever you choose I hope you find this video interesting and informative. 👍

Nice corvette turned out pretty good especially when black paint is a hard color to do 😊

Can’t believe this is 3D printed! I’m sure I had a model kit of a similar Corvette with the wide body work just like this as a kid (too many years ago to list).

Nice build! The Japanese company EID 431 made a 1:24 scale 1975 Sebring Greenwood Corvette motorized model kit. The body was excellent and the interior was good considering. It is very rare! I sold one unbuilt several years ago.

      What does that motorized means?

    • @StarDust1939
      @StarDust1939 6 місяців тому +1

It had a motor and a battery with adjustable steering. It had no controller, you just turned it on and let it go. Many early Japanese model kits had this setup.@@CenReaperYT.

Sometimes, for custom windows, I use the clear plastic from such things as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and natural herbs.
It's thin and flexible...and it might already be in your refrigerator.

You can also move the joint for turning the front wheels closer to the wheels for smaller turning radius of the wheels

It needs side pipes, or "zoomies" attached to the chassis to help hide it. That style Corvette was commonly modded to have them.

I imagine there has to be a relatively easy way to form windshields. Such as constructing a frame out of metal brackets, spanning a piece of clear plastic in there, heating up the plastic until it sags a little, and then simply pulling it over a buck. It won't do things nearly as intricate as vacuum thermo forming, but the curvature of the windshield is gentle enough that it might just work. Because windshield is a compound curve, plain cut out clear plastic isnt quite right.

If it makes you feel any better, those side windows fit better than the windows on my full scale Corvette that Chevy was nice enough to assemble in 79.

lol 😆. At some point I need to spend the time and glue those windows in properly. 👍

Clear resin exists for a reason bro, sand smooth and clear coat will get you a completely clear window with very little work.

Seeing all these videos makes me want to try to make a model plane fly. I could see ww2 bombers being possible with the huge wings and almost empty fuselage, having 4 motors would help too

That looks sweet. If it was mine, id have to paint it like my old AFX blazin brakes corvette slotcar because it's the same body style. But it looks very nice black.

There is an interesting fact: if you heat up a clear non-fragile plastic to a certain degree,it will bend easily, which is the way vacuum is formed in the first place.

If you use a plastic layer 3D printer, you can achieve a resin print like results by simply covering the object in the mix of resin and baby powder.

Im putting together a "junkyard" theme of model cars, im wanting to start 3D printing bodies to use for "smashed" and "parts cars" with different panels cut off or damaged, im hoping to get the hang of it!
