Just came back from Porthmadog and it certainly was a hive of activity 😊
Excellent update! All sounds really positive and I'm really pleased! Great news about Blaenau improvements! So pleased to hear this. It's a bloody shame that the budget from TFW has vanished as the plans I saw looked great. I'm also pleased to hear that there's no intention to close off the crossing by the water tower. I remember that gate when it was shut and it's a very handy access from the Square to the town. Looking forward to seeing this develop.
Paul and his teapot talk again!!
James Spooner is exciting! I remember DLG launched in 1992/93. If I remember correctly DLG was at Harbour Station during the Hunslet Gala weekend(?). I have a photo of 7/8 year old me, Dad & Taid (grandad) with DLG during that weekend. I'm hoping to recreate that 3 generations photo with JS but with my, girls (who are 7+8) and my Dad after it's launched. If only my Taid was around to see it.
what an excellent video thanks paul
Good to hear that Linda is staying with slide valves
Thank you for the amended version! It seems completely daft to have had to redo the segment, anyone with ANY industry experience would know that Mr L, of all people, would have possession of the line and it would be closed to allow filming, this negating the orange jacket at the time. Well done for dealing with the "issue" in such a gentle and sensible way.
Seems like a bit of a can of worms to open with the amendment. I'm not sure wearing a hi-vi lineside on a line for which you hold the token makes more sense then not having to wear one when in the yard at the Harbour or Boston Lodge... Best left alone, it's a slippery slope, I don't want Paul to have to go full Tango man in future episodes! 😅
The electric locomotives are amazing - great idea Paul and all at F&WHR! Well done!
Thank you for a very thorough and illuminating update Paul. We are looking forward to the winter work schedule.
Well done!
Thank you fr this interesting and informative update. I'm looking forward to getting to ride on the FR in a couple of weeks when I come over from America
Wow, just trying to take it all in. You have achieved so much in what has been a very difficult period. Thank you and congratulations to the volunteers, staff, management, members and directors for achieving so much.
Also, the regular updates are superb.
Best wishes to you all.
Thanks for the inspiring update.
Thanks for the amended reprise!
Thanks for the excellent update, very engaging viewing. Ray.
Fantastic update - so much good news! Personally I’m very excited to learn more about the two new battery locomotives!!
Excellent update Paul
Beautiful footage of the Alco early in the video
The fact you guys and any other railway have survived Covid (especially with a positive outlook) is nothing short of astounding! Thank you for everything you do. See you in a couple of weeks for my wife and I’s honeymoon 😊
Congratulations.
@@FfestiniogWelshHighland thanks you very much! We can’t wait to be back and barrelling through the Welsh countryside behind one of your beautiful locos!
Since you're investing in electric locos, is there any mileage in building in some railhead cleaning lasers to help combat potential wheelslip issues at low cost on an ongoing basis, rather than splashing out on tree surgeons? \m/
they have done a wonderful job of building their new steam engine. Boston lodge clearly hasn't lost that engineering ability to build iron horses
Excellent update and certainly appreciated by those of use who can't get down to the railway very often. As far as redoing the infrastructure segment with hi-vis jacket, well done for recognising the issue and taking action. There are too many examples on social media of people trespassing onto railway infrastructure to get a backdrop for their content; the railway community needs to show leadership to publicise the risks of doing that - our viewers are not just people with industry experience.
Your workshop machines look pretty old too, did you have them from new ?
A idea for something that the railroad can do is make a manlift or cherrypicker as there known inthe usa on a flat and a wood chipper for tree trimming
It already has one; no doubt someone closer to the railways will be able to say if it's suitable for trimming tall trees.
So that’s where 45110 went! 😁
Is this a second upload of the same thing?
It is a slightly revised edition but essentially, yes.
Wasn’t this released earlier this month?
It is a slightly revised edition but essentially, yes.
@@FfestiniogWelshHighlandoh ok thanks
Will the line ever extend to Trawsfynydd?
No.
@@FfestiniogWelshHighland bala??? Never say never.
Narrow gauge? No chance. Shame it didn't become a heritage railway when the nuclear traffic ended and the infrastructure was in a better state. But the interface with the national network at BF and a lack of enthusiasm from the FR probably weren't in its favour. Shame as you could have an operation like the South Devon Railway, with the BF end operating like the Whitby services on the NYMR.
