Saajan ka Ghar was remake of Marathi movie 'maherchi sadi' released in 1991 which was highest grossed movie for 17 years in Marathi industry with 12 crores. It was reality of that time, that's why movie was watched by many people, many women used to empathize or connect to character because they suffered or seen same things in reality. Today that movie feels like cringe and the torture they showed will not highly seen but not like completely gone.

Even Ranjhana is one of the most senseless movies ever. I am surprised how it has high ratings from Rotten Tomatoes and individual reviewers. Hero cutting his wrists, heroine using the hero for her errands and also getting creeped out by him and Swara Bhasker liking the hero even though he treats her badly. Also, I felt Dhanush had done no research when it came to delivering dialouges. He completely talked in Hindi which clearly did not have an accent which we observe in someone who grew up in Banaras. Even his best friend in the movie played by Mohammed Zeshan Ayyub, who has done amazing movies in the past and is an underrated actor, seems to not give good advice to him. Movies like these make me question Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB ratings sometimes.

I will wait for your video on it.
I discovered something very very interesting during the lockdown by watching series aired by DD National. The Indian TV industry was brilliant till the early 2000s. The dedication towards the script, on-point casting, and most important brilliant stories and storytelling. The later produced saas-bahu drama and now western style influence have nearly chocked what was truly original to us. I watched "Sadgati" a 1981 brilliant movie by Satyajit Ray which sheds light on discrimination by caste. I watched "Tehreer.... Munshi Premchand Ki (The Writings of Munshi Premchand)" written by Gulzar sahab and everything in these series makes me go speechless. Rural India got lost from 21st-century Television. Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan and Krishna, as well as B.R. Chopras Mahabharat were so beautifully crafted masterpieces whose creative and cinematic aspects to date have not received the deserved appreciation.

@Tried&RefusedProductions: I am so happy to see that someone is coming up with the flaws in Indian Cinema in an outstandingly articulated way. I want to share how disappointed I feel when I look at how some meaningless movies have become the definition of Bollywood - #kuchkuchhotahai (If a girl is a tomboy, she cannot win the heart of a boy. She needs to do mini skirts in college & jhumkas-thumkas later to find love. A man says marriage only once & true love only once but ends up doing both twice) Other ones are some of the other big banner movies which if I end up talking here, then people might think that I am zeroing out certain established brands.
I want to point out that it is our money that makes these movies hit or makes Bollywood rich. Maybe it is time that we tell the Bollywood brands to show us what we deserve or what adds value to the society, and not simply show us what they want (#songsinbedroom, #songsinpark, #songsinothercountry)

Back then the female crowd was so emotionally involved in this movie that not a single women stepped out of the Cinema hall without crying. The role played by Juhi Chawla was played by Alka Kubal who became famous as tragedy queen after Maherchi Saadi.
Do watch this movie to feel the original regression. Vikram Gokhale plays the father and did a better job when compared to Anupam Kher.

Ram’s character Shankar attempts rape on Nabha Natesh’s character Chandni. And then, they have started to falling in love each other. How they described that as a romantic scene?

Today if I watch it , I find it amusing and regressive too . But it worked during those times and broke all the records of Marathi Regional cinema . I wonder how you ended up watching Sajan ka Ghar though 😁😁.
