    I bought this exact machine in June of 23, and I love it. Great power for trail riding in Wisconsin and U.P of Michigan. It handles like a dream, predictable and nimble through faster corner slides. Only complaint is the wheel bearings need to be greased straight off the showroom floor or you’ll be replacing them within a 1000 miles. I have 3000 miles on it and besides brake pads, I have only had to replace the rear wheel bearings.
    I hope this helps prospective buyers. Great video. Now a new subscriber!

    i bought this exact unit in 21. it was the turbo r model which came with an intercooler and bigger injectors. its was $3500 cheaper than the rr model. knowing i could tune a turbo easily with an ecu tune to achieve that 200 hp. ive ran 32" tires on a 5-2 offset wheel from day one. i added the whalen speed 200 tune, thing is a freak. i ride all west coast trails. ive driven numerous other machines, but i still would take this one any day. review is spot on and reaffirms my feelings about the machine.

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  Рік тому +3

      You bring up a good point. This machine could be reflashed and gain a bunch of horsepower if a driver needs it. Where our headquarters is in southwest ohio more horsepower would be almost pointless. I know the d s turbo does not have an intercooler But I'm pretty sure it uses the same injectors as the 200 horsepower RR models.

    Thank you so much for this review. Everyone reviews the biggest and the baddest SXS. but they are either to much machine for normal use or just to expensive. This is the review I’ve been waiting for!!

    As 45 y.o. a trail rider on the east coast, a 64" with 135hp is more than enough for me. It's probably time to take a closer look at that beast. And trade in. My xxc 1000R rene.😎 Very good review, the drag race shows clearly that the fresh and naked 135 hp is impressive.👌

    Re-posting some feedback on this machine.
    I've got the 2023 DS and find the chassis to be a fantastic mix for tight trail use and fire road running. I've been so far impressed with the unit with about 1000kms on the dash. Is 135HP enough? absolutely. I think the lower HP rated machines may last a bit longer as well and not tear themselves to pieces, especially since 80% of the parts on the base DS are shared with the high HP Turbo RR models.
    I still think prices are too high for what you are getting, however since 2019 what's not been over-priced? I ended up removing my front sway bar but after tuning my shocks the way i feel works best for me, i don't find any foreseeable issues with excess body roll.
    Fit and finish are still not up to par for Japanese models. Chassis squeaks, sloppy plastics and freaking pull tabs on the doors??? are no excuse for the price we pay

    Great video! Loved all the detail. Its nice to see more focus on the base model. As you said, for many, it's plenty of car. One thing to note, the video is for a 2023 model. The desert sand isn't available in 24, neither are the Fox shocks (for the base model). 24s now have Showa HPG shocks. 23s had Fox.

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  Рік тому +4

      Thank you very much for pointing that out! We were aware that the color had changed for 24 But were told by Can-Am there were no other changes. The shock update completely got past us. Those new showa shocks are more adjustable than the Fox on this car. They probably made it even better than we said. If looks like we will have to test this machine again in the future. We greatly appreciate the heads up.

    I’ve speculated for a while that my 2022 DS Turbo “120” actually has the 135ho tuning . Whalen dyno’d them and was getting like 130ish territory against a claimed 120 . I installed the PDrive on my 22 base that now comes standard on the 23-24 base models .
    If I don’t trade it I plan on doing the Whalen 160hp tune . I think that will be plenty as it’s 160hp to the rear wheels . Great video .

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  Рік тому +2

      Factory UTV make the skid plates that are used by factory Can-Am / Miller Bros Racing. They use them at king of the hammers so they must be good. They're made of composite. If you prefer aluminum skid plates you might want to check out ricochet off road.

    As far as value goes, I believe the Segway Villain holds the crown there. It is 105HP vs 135HP, so there is a loss there, but the MSRP is $16,899, and can currently be found for $13,300. I got a 2023 Segway Villain SX10 WX (72") this summer. It's MSRP is $19,299, but can also be found much cheaper. I've been impressed with mine so far. Only draw back is not as many accessories are out for it yet, but seems the market is starting to come around for aftermarket items. Thanks for the review.

      Okay. so one of our two test drivers felt that the maverage was slightly plusher. However, the Polaris has a wider range of adjustment, leaving our senior East Coast driver feeling that it's pretty darn close. Basically, it's close enough that there are other things that would need to be taken in the consideration to be to pick between the 2 cars.

    I bought this only a 2023 model ...... 3500 miles started using oil. Its been at the dealership for 5 weeks now......still waiting on parts as of 11/8/24. This ruined my fall riding season. Spent $27000 on this junk, got to use it for a year. I believe for that kind of money it should have lasted a lot longer. I had a Polaris rzr before this and it used pil as well. So in my experience can am is no better than Polaris. They are both OVERPRICED JUNK. Do not buy can am ...... youve been warned. I however was told by everyone i talked to that can am was a quality machine and would be better than my Polaris, not the case.

      We added the heavier duty Can Am skid plates to my RR. You can see in the Turbo RR video. After a year and a half of hard riding they're still holding up extremely well. I highly recommend them as well as the a arm and trailing arm skids. They're worth every penny!
