Is there a limit to how much you can recover from a specific drive? I'm looking to recover somewhere between 200-300gb worth of data.

Yes you might need to turn off bitlocker or encryption on drives. It is there for a reason
I've tried a few different free software but none of them seem to work with my external hard drive. I keep getting a message that there was an error and couldn't scan my hd. I also tried some things using DOS. Am I out of luck? Do I need to pay a pro?
maybe, also might be worth taking out of the usb caddy and connect it directly to the computer via sata if possible?
Both this and recuva don't work on my sd card, other apps showed me my files but lock them behind paywall, if i format the sd will recuva or winfrgui recognize it and will i lose data?
the more you access the drive the harder it will be to recover any data, every data pass pushes the info further away

you can't run it as a portable install as far as i know

Hello Mike. When I try to open the file it shows me damaged file
then you might what to try another software like the one we looked at this week
When I ask it to recover video mp4 files, all it does is give me the titles and icons but never the full video

When it asks if you want to upgrade choose that option - and backup anything important before hand just in case!

Mine says it didn't recover anything, but I know for a fact that there are files on there. Any ideas? I even did a deep scan and it only took one second to tell me there isn't anything on my USB drive, but I know there is, so I'm really confused.

there are limitations to file recovery especially the filename length at either end off the data paths. Try recovering to a folder in the root of a drive like c:\backup or similar
not working, not playing mp4 after recovered the files
are they using the mp4 extension? if not copy one and try renaming it., failing that try using recuva

Unfortunately I haven't been able to use it because I got a message saying the following: "Windows File Recovery is only available for Windows 10 2004 amd later. Your current windows OS version is disabled." I am surprised because I have Windows 10 Education. Do you know of any other totally free software that does the same as this one? Mine is saying it’s encrypted and to decrypt how do I do that
depends on the encryption used, if it is bitlocker you need the keys provided when it was set up
doesnt work. Says the USB is encrypted or some shit. I want to save the files on the USB. But I can't use this software, because it says the USB is broken. No duh its broken, thats why I'm trying to save the files.

Two seconds deep scan files recovered zero. It will scan the C drive ok but when I try the empty reformatted USB stick there's nothing.

was the drive originally encrypted? if so you will need to decrypt the volume before any files can be restored. Yuo will also need the decryption key

if you have an encrypted drive you need to have the encryption key

if someone gets physical disks from you, it could be possible for them to recover the files. Disk encryption might be an idea if you are concerned
