BEST FREE Windows File Recovery Recuva those files
Recuva is one of the best FREE programs I have ever used to recover files and data from both HDD's and USB drives and memory cards. There is a paid "PRO" version but i really don't think it is necessary, the FREE version has had great results and might be all you need.
If you are going to try to recover a lot of data or it is a large drive, make sure you have plenty of room on the recovery destination as is does a really deep dive and even my relatively small 32GB flash drive managed to create a 365GB folder! so maybe choose specific file types if you can.

Great video, thanks Mike and Kath :-)
Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully it won't be needed but good to know about it
Thanks for an interesting review Mike and Kath👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for sharing,i was able to recover the photos from my corrupted disk. Its all the photos during my daughter's graduation.
Wonderful!
I used this to get my data off scratched disc's and it work very well
Always useful to have, especially since it is free. I have an usb drive full of those free mind saving tools for when I do some stupid things... 👍
can't get much better than free
Subbed, gimme more videos on recover tools :D
Thanks for the sub!
Wow lovely❤❤❤
I've been using CCleaner for years and actually just found out about this after my SSD shit the bed. Hoping it helps recover my stuff.
good luck
Should I recover my entire partition to a new folder in desktop? I get warnings that if I do this to the same drive I want to recover it could reduce the chances of a successful recovery.
Yes Recuva finds Everything BUT it only allows a small amount of file recovery on the Free Version ( Example 100mb ) if You have say 5gb of Pics that need recovering Off to Pro You Go ... Paying time ... It is a great Program BUT just a little taster for the Paid Version
Very guud. 👍
Thanks for watching :-)
Is it best or required to save the recovered files to a completely different drive than where they are being recovered from? I imagine that saving TO the same drive will cause recovered files to be overwritten.
yes it is for the reason you mentioned
Thank you! I am using it for my SD card that was corrupted on my andriod last night. Any idea why recuva is disappearing with no results when it is near the end of a 1 hour long deep scan? Maybe I should turn the pc VPN off?
not sure sorry, i don't understand how that would happen
Thanks, Mike. I downloaded the software so I can keep in my utility folder. Hope I never need it.
yeah it is like a fire blanket, nice to have but hope you never need it
I plugged in an external drive to suddenly find nothing in the folder in which I've been storing photos, so after seeing that Recuva had a free version, I found your review to see if it was worth a try and was glad to see that you approved. Trouble is, when I scan the folder without using the deep scan feature, nothing shows up. When I use the deep scan, however, the program seems to lock up. The dialogue box reads: Stage 1 of 3; current progress: 0%; 366104 files found. It's been sitting there for some time. It says it's calculating time left, but there's nothing indicated. And, of course, there is no movement on the progress bar (the bar is not to be seen, actually). I was considering leaving the computer on and the program running overnight to see if there might be any progress, but I suspect that there won't be.
I realize that you're not the software's engineer, but I wonder if you've had this experience.
And no sooner that I posted the above comment, the progress bar made an appearance and the estimated time left is... 2 days!
if the drive is struggling it will take a long time, if the drive is making odd mechanical noises i would unplug and send to a specialist if the data is really important
Sorry I'm slow to respond to this, but I'm leaning towards taking it to a professional. Upon doing the deep scan and "finding" (I think) the many files that I'm pretty sure were in the folder, there were none to recover when the scan was complete. It's got me thinking now that I moved the folder to another drive or something even though I can't find it on another drive. Fortunately, I've not used the drive since so I've at least not written over anything.@@mikesunboxing
I use the Ccleaner for year's 😀
Review & recommendation is Worthy of Support comment & a Like 🙂
i used CCLeaner for a very long time but it got a bit bloated and annoying with nagware all the time so i ditched it
@@mikesunboxing Don't know what nagware is. But Happybirth Day Mucker. ✨🎉🎇🎁 😀
@@WilliamAndrewPhilipBodie Thanks William :-)
I accidently formatted my 3tb external drive to exfat but it was NTFS before, will I be able to get my files back if I formatted to exfat from NTSC? I downloaded and did deep scan with Recuva and it found many files but only showed mp3 and jpeg files and on the bottom it also said almost 500k files ignored, any idea?
you might need a data specialist for that, data recovery rarely gets files back in their original format in my experience
I find the lost files - great, but when I go to recover them and save the files it doesn't show me any of my folders. Any thoughts?
i dont' think the recovery keeps file or folder structures in tact
keen to use it,.. but don't have more gb's free or enough to perform the recovery. Question here please,... could I send recovered files to a cloud folder?
Thanks
i don't know, i would think so though
@@mikesunboxinggiving a try and see ... Can't remember how much data but after reading comments seems that this software works the same way as many others,... Just gives you a little taste then if you want to recover more data you have to get some bucks out of the pocket. Let see, otherwise will give a chance to WinfrGUI, that one is 100% free but don't know the performance. Will get back with more comments.
Thanks
I tried using this program on an internal SSD, and while it seemed to have worked and found all of my files, the computer seems like it isn't recognizing the files. It keeps saying the "file types are unsupported". Have you experienced this before, and if so, what can I do to fix this?
some recovered files will need the file extensions added or changed or the files might be partial files that can't be opened.
How can I download it please help
I'm looking at this on their page. Do I need a continuing subscription to use it or can I just buy it once? I see one called iTop data recovery it also says... 1 month 29.95... so I can only use it for a month? I wish these software devs were more transparent.. blah..
it is free there is no need to buy Recuva
Someone used my External Hard Drive to Transfer Data from Windows computer to Apple MacBook via my 4 TB External Hard Drive, but after transferring my External Hard Drive shows only 32 GB space (+ some transferring folders), and there are none of my files shown, could someone please explain how to recover hidden or lost or deleted or formatted files in my External Hard Drive
?
looks like the file format or disk format might have changed to fat32 rather than being exfat or ntfs, not sure if that is something that can be undone without erasing the whole disk and removing the partitions and starting over
@@mikesunboxing Thank you! Could you please help to recover it?
Is there any data you need to keep?
@@mikesunboxing Yes, I need to recover all files
I lost a partition.
Can Recuva restore a partition?
If not, is there a way to have Recuva scan a raw partition (no drive letter)?
If Recuva cannot recover files from a lost partition, can you recommend a different software package that can?
Free would be ideal. But if it is capable software, and not too difficult to use, I will purchase it. Any recommendations?
have a look at aomiei
@@mikesunboxing Aomiei looks very good, for nearly all things related to data storage.
But it lacks file recovery functionality.
It does have partition recovery in the Pro version.
But if that fails, then I am back to square 1, and I would be out the cost of the Pro version.
I would rather find a tool that both recovers partitions and recovers files.
If I can have only one, then it would be to recover files. But it has to be able to recover files from lost partitions.
Do you have another recommendation?
Thank you.
@@NoEgg4u there was someone talking about software to do this on our discord but i can't recall the software, it might have been on the HIRENS boot disk
@@mikesunboxing Thank you.
Tried both recuva and winfr GUI. Recovered but the recovered ones are corrupted
sorry to hear that
I lost my data when I change windows so how can I recover them am stack please help
take the drive out and scan it in another system
is it gonna recover google chrome cleared data too?
it won't recover cloud data
I recovered photo using recuva. But its not opening.. doesn't support file format
try changing the file extension to whatever it was originally
i tried using it few months back and have to say that didn't recover anything that i needed. and was nothing special i needed, few PDFs, few .DOC, few TXT.
sorry to hear that, it can be rather hit and miss. Did you find any other program that managed to recover the files?
@@mikesunboxing unfortunately no. tried recuva, stellar phoenix and couple others and nothing. only 1 recovered few DOC files i needed but corrupted.
dumbass me encrypted some files with windows encryption and months after decided to fresh install windows without decrypting all of them 😂 needless to say, windows encryption doesn't work in a fresh install, only on the one you used to encrypt
Recuva can't save report, doesn't discern deleted from formatted data, and ignores directory structure.
A 4TB drive scan took a week and complete waste of time.
sorry to hear that
I started with a different recovery program yesterday and it took 18 hours to fully scan my 10TB HDD. I saved the scan and am now going to try Recuva Free. I'm not doing a deep scan here and we'll see what happens.
good luck
Going to try this one. I tried minitools power data. It said free trail. It took 9 hours to recovery data (not all), Then to get them they wanted $69... Free trial my arse. Waste of 9 hours.
what about MAC pls
sorry i don't have any recommendations for mac
What file recover without paid money
This one
Bro it is free ?
@@dhairyakaushik1594 Did you watch the video?
Ok bro
Thankx bro I recovered my data
All a scam. I did this recuva junk last night Wednesday sept 7 2022
It scanned 3 of my SD cards
Almost 3 hours. & everything it found it actually said
File is. Unrecoverable with a red dot next to it.
But. Let me guess. If I ( BUY )
the paid version. Then it will
Recover a lot more
nope it won't there isn't a pay wall on the free product
@@mikesunboxing i don't understand. So how do I get my stuff back
@@sonny323 You unfortunately can't, the pro version is only useful if you run Virtual Machines like Oracle Virtual Box to run multiple Operating Systems on one PC. If a file is red that means you can't get it back as the data left on disk is insufficient to recover, yellow means you might get it back but it's not guaranteed and if it comes back it might come back damaged and green means it's guaranteed you'll get it back good as new.
Recuva don't find my files
sorry to hear that
This does not work. It scans zero files. Don't use Recuva. It's a complete lie.
sorry to hear that, most people find it to be pretty decent
it's not Free lire, it forces me to pay for a goddamn upgrade if I want to recover my files BULSHIT. I just want to recover a file but it wont let me
the version i had was free, not sure what you have got
