I had a 2003. Brakes are partially linked, not linked as described in the video -- meaning foot activates rear brake only & hand activates both front & rear. Outstanding bike.

I have a 2004 and it is the best sport touring bike of its time for sure. Love my bike.

I have owned the 2003 version of this for 73,000 miles and it still makes me smile every time I ride it. It’s not been as reliable as the Hondas I’ve had, but all is forgiven once I swing a leg over and get moving. I plan to keep it a long while yet.

Do you still have the bike? Are/were you ever concerned about the i-ABS?
I'm looking at a 2003 right now and I'm just worried about the horror stories I've read where the servos fail.

@@Jake......................... Yes, I still have it and it still runs well. I also worry a bit about the servo brakes but so far they have been trouble-free. I do have the system flushed regularly (every year or two).

Great review, I wonder how they've stood the test of time. I'm thinking of getting one as a second bike. I'm sure the engine will be bullet proof even on a high miler but what about the running gear? Has anyone got anything to say about twenty year old models?

      I have owned my 2001 K1200 RS since 2006.
It currently has 54,400 miles on it.
Two years ago, plastic fuel lines became brittle and leaked. That was a result of the age of the machine.
Other than that, it’s been 100% reliable.

only problem is the ethanol in the fuels nowadays can melt the fuel lines in the tank .
