Surf fishing Gunnamatta for Australian Salmon

Winter is the prime time to fish the Victorian beaches for Australian Salmon so I ventured down to well known Gunnamatta Surf Beach. Despite being shoulder to shoulder, the fishing was a little tough and as I later realised that it was almost a full moon, this could have been the catalyst for the slow fishing. Despite that, I still managed to catch a few fish proving my techniques and berley gets the bites while many went home fishless.

The fist time after a long pause at daybreak at Gunna all alone for a while.
My berley worked real magic, attracting crabs from all across the Tasman.
After both line tangled gave it up.
On second trip brought also a chicken neck in a small weighted cage with snoods on.
That was wery productive. Worked a treat.

Also pays to use a surf popper on your bottom dropper as the crabs won’t take your bait……see my Williamson’s beach surf vid from two weeks ago

@@jarrodday Got a set of them after that day but have to try them yet or some of the Halco twisters.

Single-handedly my favourite kind of fishing, surf fishing at Gunnamatta for salmon.
Never got a huge salmon but always trying each year.
Another ripper video mate love the local content
