Excellent, Dr Brown. This is the clearest thing in scripture, in my opinion. Coming from a Southern Baptist background where I actually DEFENDED OSAS, I now see it for what it is. The entire Bible, especially the New Testament is plain. There are many, many warnings given TO CHRISTIANS about this very thing. John 15, Hebrews 3, Romans 11. If not, why was the failure of the children of Israel to enter the Promised Land (first generation died in the wilderness due to disobedience), given as a WARNING to CHRISTIANS? What would be the purpose of the warning if we could not fail to enter the rest promised to us by disobedience. Good vid, Dr Brown! Now do one about "King James Only" . . . :-)

Divide the word CORRECTLY (context, clear understanding, right Spirit). That passage [in Hebrews] was writen TO saved Jews- yes, Christians-ABOUT UNSAVED JEWS. Paul was admonishing the saved Jews to not tire in preaching the Gospel, ensuring that they all [the unsaved Jews] came to believe and not remain lost [aka "enter His Rest"]!
      Smh.

Well brother Reggie, those warnings to CHRISTIANS are very necessary and required because true Christian MUST persevere in the faith to ensure their salvation and MUST receive those warnings and exhortations as a MEANS to actually DO that. This doesn't automatically mean we can lose our salvation though. The true Christian obeys those warnings by grace and the Spirit. There are false professors and covenant breakers that we find in Hebrews 3 and Heb. 10:29 etc. We must keep covenant with God until the end.

@@ETHANGELIST If we can understand that God knows or rather declares the end from the beginning, why would God bless someone with the Holy Spirit of promise as an earnest for salvation and later down the road take Him away? For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (irrevocable). The names of the people who are saved are written in the book of Life before the foundation of the world. Jesus said all that the Father giveth Him will come to Him and no one can pluck them out of His hand. There are much more verses that reinforce this idea than the ones that are against. Jesus said that He will leave the 99 sheep in search for the 1 sheep that is astray, no stones unturned. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Now what I do not agree with the OSAS believers is in the manner they think they are saved. We are not saved in our sins but from our sins. This would be a false assurance. For you to have been sealed with the Holy Spirit you must have the Holy Spirit, and if you truly have the Holy Spirit, then you must bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit. This is expounded in no uncertain terms in 1 John, Titus, Romans. We are given the Spirit to walk in righteousness to fulfill our destiny for by ourselves we can do nothing...salvation comes from Jesus within us. God bless you.

@Hadassah Salvation is never lost. Rewards are. How is it you accuse Baptist of hidden sins , or this sin & that? You seem to believe in any kind of doctrine but the real truth. How can Jesus say to a SAVED person , I never knew you? That alone is a contradiction. Look here, The first thing God does is seal the believer WITH the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, How long does the Holy Spirit stay with the believer? Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. God seals the believer to the day he redeems them. NOTHING can break the seal or remove it. NOWHERE in scriptures does it say God will remove the Holy Spirit before the time God decides to redeem the believer. If you think OSAS is false, YOU are trusting in yourself to remain saved. NOT the cross of Christ.

Dr. Brown is 100% correct. I don't know how you can read the Bible, and draw the conclusion that once you're saved, you're somehow ALWAYS saved. That is NOT what the Bible teaches! The ONLY way to come to that conclusion, is by twisting the word of God, and reading your own beliefs into the text (that's called eisegesis). Every time being saved is mentioned in Scripture, it is OBVIOUSLY in present tense, NOT past tense! This is why Jesus said "If any man will come after me, let him DENY HIMSELF, and take up his cross DAILY, and follow me." (Luke 9:23). Romans 8:1 boldly states: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are IN Christ Jesus, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT. As the apostle Paul was dying he wrote: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH" (2 Timothy 4:7). Furthermore, Demas was listed as a Christian brother in the ministry in both Colossians and Philemon, but in his second letter to Timothy, Paul said that Demas has forsaken him, because he loves this present world. James 4:4 makes it clear that being a friend of the world, makes you an enemy of God. Let's not forget that Jesus's parable of the sower is told in 3 of the 4 gospels. Remember that the seed that fell among the thorns took root, and grew up, only to eventually be choked out by the thorns? The thorns represent the cares and pleasures of this world. Jesus also told the parable of the 10 virgins (which represent believers), 5 of which were not prepared and hence, left behind and told I don't know you. Jesus said that this is how it will be on the day of the return of the son of man (see Matthew 25). Moreover, Jesus also said "Every branch IN ME that beareth not fruit he (God the Father/the gardener v.1) taketh away" Jesus continued in verse 6 by saying "If a man ABIDE NOT IN ME, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned" (see the 15th chapter of John). Hebrews 6:4-6 goes hand-in-hand with the Scripture Dr. Brown mentioned. It says that it's IMPOSSIBLE for those who were once enlightened and had the Holy Spirit to be renewed again to repentance, if they fall away. Nobody can fool God into giving them the Holy Spirit! He knows whether or not you are truly sincere in your heart. Why would he give someone the Holy Spirit if they are not sincere in their faith? HE WOULDN'T. Over and over again, the Bible makes it clear that you must ABIDE in Christ/the faith! The word translated as "abide" comes from the Greek word "meno" which LITERALLY means "to remain" OR "not to depart" OR "to continue to be". For those of you wondering what the old testament says about this topic; wonder no further! Ezekiel says that an wicked man CAN become righteous, and a righteous man CAN become wicked (see chapter 18 starting in verse 20). Jeremiah 3 describes Israel as an adulterous wife, and in verse 21 he says that "they have perverted their way, and THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN THE LORD THEIR GOD". Psalm 119:9 rhetorically asks, how can a young man keep his way pure. Answer: by living according to God's word. I could go on, but I think the point is well made by now. Scripture is CLEAR that we MUST ABIDE in the Lord/faith to remain in Him. Salvation is ALWAYS referred to in PRESENT TENSE form. "Once saved - always saved" is NOT biblical. Therefore, all Bible-believing Christians must REJECT IT, as the false doctrine/teaching that it is! 🙂

Once saved, always saved. It’s that simple. What Jesus did on the cross was enough. We don’t need to work for our salvation, we need to receive it. We are sealed once we receive the holy spirit by being born again.

There have been brethren who sadly have renounced their faith in Christ, renounced Christianity altogether, saying things like "I was wrong in believing on Jesus", "I'm not a christian anymore." To say a believer can be lost is to call Jesus a liar, and believe Jesus died in vain. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. Present tense. John 1:12 First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE TEMPORARTY LIFE. NO, IT IS ETERNAL LIFE. If you have ever believed you are saved forever. If you have never believed, you are not saved.
John 3:18 Believers are no longer condemned, but unbelievers are condemned already. What if we never believe it again after we have believed it? Second Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, He abideth faithful, He can not deny Himself. The Holy Spirit who lives in all believers and who will never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews13:5.
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
To say a believer can be lost is to say Jesus died in vain. it is to say what He did is not good enough and we have to do something more than just believe to be saved. It means we are not saved by faith alone, but we must keep believing it to stay saved. Works. Not grace. Romans 11:6 Can you boast in your perseverance? No. because we are saved and we do not persevere to get something we already have. Unless you have never believed.
Most false teachers are preaching a false gospel of works instead of grace. Romans 11:6 Matthew 7:21-23. They have never done the will of His Father. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believteth on Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
Salvation by works never works. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, (bad news for us sinners), but the GIFT of God is eternal Life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. OSAS GOOD NEWS.

There is security when we keep ourselves in Christ... not just by sayings, but by doing his will. @@kimwestwood8840 I'm not here to offend anybody. So I apologize if you were offended by my response but I am in no way saying God's promise of salvation is from the Devil. Jesus Christ is faithful and true. His word is eternal, never changing. The interpretation and how we may perceive scripture is what can cause someone to have a false confidence. Satan himself used the word to tempt Jesus as he fasted. But just think if we as Christians are forever saved once we believe... why do we have trials and tribulations? Why does God try us? Why do we go through temptation? Why do we suffer? Its to test our faith. To see if we are faithful: remaining loyal. To see if we are worthy of his calling (ephesians 4:1). God call's for obedience to his word. It shouldn't be offensive to say we should be faithful to God. It's what he wants and so that's what we as Christians should strive for. That same chapter you referenced 1 Peter 1... goes on to say 14 As OBEDIENT children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
      15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Holiness is the quality or state of being holy. Holy is exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness.
Hebrews 12:14 says follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
You see, We cannot have two masters. A good tree cannot bring forth bad fruit and vice versa. Is Jesus really our Lord if we continue to sin while saying we are of him? Jesus says in Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Paul said to the philippians 2: 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Why? because we ought to treasure and care for what God has given us. So precious and valuable it cost the blood of his only begotten Son who died to take away our sin and of the world. Jesus warned against this type of mindset in Matthew 7:21-23 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Don't be deceived into thinking you cannot lose it. If you have something of great value you would care for it more knowing it can be lost than knowing it can never be lost. If you've accepted Christ... Praise God. What I'm saying is take care of the precious gift he has granted you by staying holy, pure, In Jesus Christ. How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace? - Hebrews 10:29 (insulting the Holy Spirit is blaspheming Him and is the unforgivable sin that causes one to lose salvation when He unseals Himself)
"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they gall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame" - Hebrews 6:4-6
"For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog return to his own vomit," and , "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire." -2 Peter 2:20-22
But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die. -Ezekiel 18:24
Here is a passage that say it happened already to some.
"Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again" -Romans 11:20-23
Here is a passage that say it will happen in the end times.

There's no evidence in Scripture that Judas was ever a true believer or "saved." Jesus calls him a "devil" in John 6:70 and he's called the "son of perdition" in John 17:12; meaning someone destined or appointed for destruction. How could he be saved and then unsaved? It was prophesied that he would betray Jesus!

    Biblical evidence for once saved always saved;
    - Immediate eternal life by believing (John 6:47 KJV)
    - Born again of incorruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23 KJV)
    - Sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:11-14 KJV)
    - Jesus Christ will never leave nor forsake a believer (Hebrews 13:5 KJV)
    - The Father's will that Jesus loses none (John 6:39 KJV)
    - Predestinated unto glorification (Romans 8:28-30 KJV)
    - No such thing as an ''ex-christian'' (1 John 2:19 KJV)
    - Salvation by faith alone apart from works (Romans 4:5 KJV, Romans 11:6 KJV, Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV); faith comes from God's word (Romans 10:17 KJV) and is finished by Christ (Hebrews 12:2 KJV); believers will always keep the gospel in memory or they were never saved to begin with (1 Corinthians 15:2 KJV)
Those who believe that salvation can be lost are not saved, because they rely upon their own works/good behaviour in order to ''make it to Heaven''. They don't believe they are saved and they don't believe they have eternal life. Those who think they can lose salvation will end up in Matthew 7:21-23 KJV. Jesus NEVER knew those people (he didn't ''once knew them''), because they failed to do the will of the Father which is found in John 6:39-40 KJV. Faith alone and once saved always saved!
To be saved you have to acknowledge that you're a guilty sinner (Romans 3:19-26 KJV), who cannot save him/herself (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV), who deserves hell (Revelation 21:8 KJV) and to believe (trust) in Jesus, God in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16 KJV), his finished work on the cross: how he died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV). Trust in that alone for the payment of all sins, salvation from hell and eternal life.

how I have heard it explained to me, is that if a person at one time recieved Christ as their Savior, and there was a legitimate change in their life, they turned from their wicked way, served the Lord, and gave Him their all, and suddenly one day turn their back on God, forsake all He has given them, and forsake all He wants to give them, the Lord will chasen/chastise them, because, "whom the Lord loves, he chasens". If that person still does not listen, and take the hint, the Lord has, can, and will take more drastic measures up to and even including, calling that unfaithful servant home. I have also heard it said that if someone proclaims that they are saved, yet there comes no change, they were never saved in the first place; there was never any repentance to begin with. I choose to believe this because it coincides with how the Lord has worked with many of His servants in the past. Ultimately, we should be worrying about ourselves, and not the salvation of others. It's like bro Brown said, if you are saved, and you know it, then you have nothing to worry about. God's salvation. is eternal for those who accept it once and for all, if you disobey your Father, it simply will not go well for you. If you disobey, and nothing happens, then is when you should worry.

I love most of your teachings Dr Brown, but I have to strongly disagree here. You are contradicting yourself, you can't say that He keeps us, forgives all our sins, will never forsake us and will not turn away any of those that come to Him in faith and then say that if you divorce and remarry then you are lost... that's absurd. I agree that we shouldn't divorce and we should always strive not to sin, but if we sin we have a Savior, a mediator, an intercessor, a High Priest, a propitiation for all our sins, that's why He died so we don't have to. If we turn from Him and renounce our faith completely then we were never of Him, we never truly made a decision for Him, we never truly received Him (and please note that I am NOT a Calvinist, I actually hate Calvinism, I think it's heresy). Also, we can be lost for a little while and He will bring us back through the Holy Spirit who seals us until the day of redemption, but a true believer will never truly (in his heart) deny Him. Peter didn't deny Jesus in his heart, he denied him because of fear and we are not saved by our courage, we are saved only by grace through faith and salvation is a gift from God. If we have to work to maintain it, it was never a gift, to begin with. We work and we follow His teaching because we believe in Him, we love Him and we think that those teachings are good and we desire to follow His commandment (which is to love) but nobody can keep their salvation by not sinning or by doing good works or nobody would be saved because we all still sin despite our best efforts and, again salvation is a gift received by faith alone. Also, if you truly believe in Him and have received the Holy Spirit, you will hate your sin and will strive to avoid sinning and to do good works but the scenario you mentioned here of a person who will completely deny Christ or would want to sin without being convicted of it and without desiring to obey Him, that person is not a Christian. God bless.

Thanks for the reply, brother. Now we are talking. Great you are finally bringing forward scriptures because "If you walk away you were never reborn" wasn't good enough.

The verses you've provided do refer to eternal security, no question about it. Eternal life is the promise for those believers who are firm in their faith in Christ. The instrument of our salvation is our faith in Jesus Christ. So if no more faith, no more salvation.
Dear brother, you mentioned there's "no ifs" when it comes to salvation; clearly you have not read all scriptures, then.
      1 Corinthians 15:1-2,
"Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain."
      2 Timothy 2:12,
"If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us."

      Hebrews 2:1-4,
"Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?"
      2 Peter 2:20-22,
“For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.””
      1 John 2:24-25,
“Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us-eternal life.”
I see quite a few “ifs” in the verses above. There are a lot more, of course.
It's not about persevering and enduring in works how we keep our salvation, as some may argue. It's about persevering and enduring in faith in Christ. It's through our faith in Jesus Christ that we were saved in the first place. So if someone abandons their faith, they are abandoning their salvation. Again, it's not by sinning or the lack of works why someone loses their salvation; it's their abandoning the faith that they once had in Messiah, apostatizing, which leads them out of salvation. God bless.

Look at Revelations 3:5 and also Exodus 32:32 where Moses offers to have God remove his name from the book of Life if God will only forgive the people for their rebellion. God's reply to Moses is that He will blot out those who wilfully sin against Him. The point is that you can't blot out something that was never there to begin with. Brandon Root I did, and it’s clearly referring to a group of people who once identified with the Christian community. But have defected and have exposed themselves as antichrists. However, I agree with you that defection does not mean that someone is unsaved. Rather, they forfeit a crown, or reward. This is clearly the case when one uses proper exegesis with 2 Timothy 4:7-8. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” Paul isn’t concerned with the loss of salvation. Rather, he has his eyes on the crown of righteousness.

I do believe there is error in this teaching though.
If our unrighteous behavior by turning from God can cause one to forfeit and loose their salvation, then that would assume that their righteous deeds of walking with and in obedience with Him is the sustaining power of their salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

If you say "God can not force us to stay in his house or family, and we can deny him", this system is no longer in the christian who have the assurance of his salvation, because he doesn't see it that way anymore, he loves God and want to do his will and flee and resist sin, because sin hurt him, because of his new spirit and new heart, and he know he loves Jesus in his heart because of the Spirit in him, and he knows he can rest in Jesus and be secure because when he received Jesus in his heart he agreed he can not maintain the Salvation he received from God, it is why he can rest and not fear to be rejected when he fall, and he knows he don't have a license to sin.
But yes, there is a false "OSAS", when you accept Jesus by faith alone....t without first being convinced by the Holy Spirit that we are separated from God because of our sinful nature and that we are good for eternal damnation, and that we need to be redeemed by a Savior, Jesus Christ, because we do not have the price of our redemption to give to God, we receive another "Jesus", another false "holy spirit" that make us friend with the spirit of the world, sin and all seducing spirits.
And there are "religious christians" who are so strong that they have managed to maintain salvation by their own power, and who preach a legalistic gospel that saves only those who become like them, elites.

If you believe in Jesus then you have EVERLASTING Life, so IF you have EVERLASTING life, then "lose it", then you never even had everlasting life, because everlasting life lasts FOREVER.
Lol it's common sense. 1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us"
This verse is talking about the antichrist and the antichrist spirit in the church, and false converts.
Philippians 1:6- "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you WILL perform it until the day of Jesus Christ"
      (Ephesians 4:30)
Jude 1:24- "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy"
Our eternal security is a result of God keeping us, not us maintaining our own salvation.
      1 peter 1:4-5
4 "To an INHERITANCE Incorruptible, and undefiled, and that FADETH NOT AWAY, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the POWER OF GOD through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time"
Hebrews 7:25- "Therefore He is able also to save FOREVERRRR those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."
Eternal life cannot be temporary, and a born again Christian cannot be unborn again, then born again, then unborn again. Jesus never taught that.
Romans 11:29 - "For the gifts and calling of God [are] without repentance"
What does repentance mean? It means a change of mind, so with that being said, we can conclude that this verse is saying that God will not change his mind about his callings and gifts he has given. It's saying God will not change his mind and take back what he has given or called to those who are justified.
Do you think God is saying to himself, “Oops, I didn’t expect that to happen.” And then he is reaching for his eraser?
"Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray Him." John 6:64.
Romans 8:29-30 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."
All those whom God justifies are promised to be glorified.
Romans 8:11 "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead DWELLS IN YOU, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies a through His Spirit who DWELLS IN YOU"
and Hebrews 13:5 says "for he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.
So the word of God says his spirit lives within us belivers and he will never leave nor forsake us
"but you can leave and forsake him"
Well not necessarily b/c according to the word of God a true believer wouldn't do such a thing because we are kept by the power of God.
you may say something like "if your a christian and decide to murder people everyday and be a child molester and ect, then you lost your salvation"
Well first of all, eternal security is not a free license to sin bc 1 john 3:9 says "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God"
1 john is clearly saying that those who are born of God (born again), they will not continue to practice sin or do such things. They will continue to peruse a godly life even though we stumble into sin every day. Does eternal not mean eternal?
John 6:39-40 "And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day"
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have EVERLASTING LIFE: and I WILL raise him up at the last day"
when it comes to this salvation thing, Jesus has never taken a L and never lost one person that God's given him. That's what this verse is saying. God is strong enough to save you, and he is strong enough to keep you!
      God does not break promises.
John 10:28 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER PERISH, >>>(NEITHER SHALL ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY HAND)"

      @isaackimble5533 5 років тому +1

      @Geocentric bence
1.) - First of all, you didn't give me not even ONE scripture to back up anything that you just said and you misunderstand what God means by everlasting life and everlasting torment. And there is a distinction between eternal and everlasting, but 'eternal' can be used as a synonym for the word everlasting.
Yes there was a beginning for us but there is no end, that's common sense. That's what scripture teaches.
We had a beginning, but we have no end, we dont just cease to exist, we will continue to exist forever and ever.
God on the other hand has no beginning or end, God created ALL things including time, therefore he exists outside of time, there for he's eternal or infinate. Therefore he always has existed.
The word "everlasting" means something that 'LASTS' 'forever'. Doesn't mean that there has to be no beginning for something to last forever. Now read this carefully. For something to last forever, does not mean or indicate that there has to be no beginning. God created us, and those who Believe in him will not perish but have everlasting life, which is life that is never ending.
Just like one word can have multiple meanings, keep in mind that the new testament was translated from Greek to English.
Many words with multiple meanings exist in the English language as well as the Hebrew and Greek language. Technically, almost every word has a multiple meaning. How often do you go into the dictionary to look up a word, and find that only one meaning is listed next to it? Practically never! Many words have slightly varying meanings, or they can be used as different parts of speech. However, we will primarily focus on words that have multiple meanings in a broader sense.
God created us, and if we reject the free gift of everlasting life, then we will be tormented day and night, forever and ever. Without any end. Yeah there was a beginning Because God created hell and the lake of fire, but there will be no end. Your limiting God's power is what you are doing and you don't even know it. God can do anything and everything that he wants.
The bible calls The Lake Of Fire the second death, not everlasting life, although the torment is everlasting (never ENDING), and you still exist, but you don't have everlasting bliss, you have everlasting damnation and torment, that's the difference.
Now God on the other hand had no beginning and has no end, because he is an infinate being. He created all things, including time, therefore he exists outside of time.
"Eternal means no beginning or end. There is no word in all of scripture that means eternal or forever"
Really? There's no word in all of scripture that means eternal or forever? You contradicted yourself..
You obviously do not know your bible. The bible teaches that God is and infinate being, an eternal being and always has existed. There's your "Eternal or forever"
God is eternal; therefore, His purposes for His creation remain everlasting.
Matthew 25:41 "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into EVERLASTING FIRE, prepared for the devil and his angels:"
Clearly, Matthew 25:41 is saying that the everlasting fire lasts FOREVER.
Obviously there had to of been a beginning and God had to of created the lake of fire for it to last forever.
Revelation says that they are cast into the lake of fire and they will be tormented day and night FOREVER AND EVER, and will get NO rest.
We are created, but just because we had a beginning doesn't mean there will be an end. Your trying to limit God's power, knowledge and ability. God can do all things except for the things that are against his nature like sin.
Revelation 20:14 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death"
The bible is clear that the lake of fire is called the second death, not the second life. They still exist, but they don't have everlasting life, they have everlasting torment.
The bible teaches that everlasting life is everlasting bliss and happiness with no more pain, sorrow or anything. But the lake of fire is the opposite but far worse, beyond our comprehension.
Now Jesus himself said "where the worm NEVER dies and the fire is NEVER quinched" Referring to us created beings that reject him. Now, that does not mean that humans had no beginning, it means that we will continue to live on forever and ever, that's common sense. Scripture is very clear that we are created beings, that have an opportunity to have everlasting life, which is life that LASTS forever and ever. What your doing is denying scripture, the word of God is clear that there is everlasting life, which is life that has no end, and everlasting punishment, which is punishment that has no end.
The words "forever" and "everlasting," and the phrase "forever and ever" are used throughout scripture as synonyms for the word "eternal" ... Rom.1:16 describes the Godhead as "eternal," here translated from the Greek word "aidios."
"Eternal" is an excellent adjective for God. Clearly He has no beginning nor end.
For something to last forever is not required for it to have no beginning if that makes sense.
2.) You stated "unless you believe Jonah was in the belly forever? Priest good lasts forever? Animal sacrifice forever?"
Dude what is your point here? Your making absolutely no sense.
Those were shadows of things to come that were temporary until Christ came to earth to FUFILL the law. Your comparing temporary things with eternal matters. Doesn't make any sense, your point is??
3.) - you stated "Its unfortunate most translations don't translate it properly. Eternal can only mean one thing, no beginning no end"
Actually it can mean 2 different things, "No beginning and no end" OR "a beginning with no end". That's common sense dude 😂😂
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him will NOT perish but HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE"
So are you calling Jesus a liar? So for someone to have everlasting and for you to say "that's not what Jesus means by that" then you make God a liar. Everlasting meaning it is never ENDING. It may have had a beginning, but it has no end. That's what the word of God means by "Everlasting", it never says anything about the beginning, but it's indicating that it has no end.
4.) - You stated "is punishment eternal? No beginning? oh really?"
2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of truth"

To me, 2 Peter 2:20 PROVES the exact opposite. For one, this entire chapter is about the unsaved, the vile, the depraved. It is not about genuine believers that were born again. The context is all of the various reprobate ways of the unregenerate.
Verse 20 says IF they escaped the corruption of the world by a KNOWLEDGE of the Savior it would be worse for them in the end. This does not say they were actually changed and transformed and redeemed-and then returned to depravity. It says they received all that they needed to know. They received the gospel. They received the way of righteousness and possibly started to walk that way. Of course God will show them less mercy on Judgment Day, because they received the fullness of the opportunity of salvation and then rejected it.
But it doesn’t say that they were born again and actually belonged to Jesus. The next verse says that they were STILL a DOG. They were STILL a SOW. They may have fully had the opportunity to have “real food” and “get washed” by being cleansed by the Word of Truth but were not changed. Because of their true nature they then returned to their vomit and their mud.
22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”
These are those that received the gospel (seed) but it never fully takes root. (See parable of the Sower, Luke 8) but those who are born again receive the seed fully and are born again with an imperishable seed. (1 Peter 1:23)
Btw, I’m not a Calvinist. You don’t have to be a Calvinist to believe in the doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints.

Yes I agree with this teaching that we CAN REJECT, WANDER OFF, and WALK AWAY from our SALVATION and PERISH.
Matthew 18:12-14 How think ye? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, Doth he not leave the 99, and go up into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And (IF) so be that he FIND IT, (CONDITIONAL) verily I say unto you, he rejoices more of that sheep, then of the 99 which went not astray. Even so it is not the WILL of your FATHER which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should PERISH.
So here, we see two examples of one being able to WANDER AWAY and REJECT HIS SALVATION and PERISH.
We see clearly that it's not the FATHER'S WILL that one of us should PERISH, but he GIVES us a FREE WILL to CHOOSE.
Just like the PRODIGAL SON who realized that he needed to get back to his FATHER'S HOUSE, for he was in poverty WITHOUT HIM, so he willingly CHOSE to go back. His FATHER didn't hunt him down and capture him and FORCE him back, but he was waiting with open arm's to recieve him if he CHOSE TO RETURN.
So to say that God would FORCE one of us that knew him at one point but then rejected him at some other point to choose to serve SATAN, and PRACTICE a lifestyle of WILLFUL, CONTINUAL, and HABITUALl SIN, would be to say that GOD would FORCE US to LOVE HIM, SERVE HIM, PRACTICE OBIEDIENCE TO HIM, and spend ETERNITY with HIM in HIS KINGDOM. And that would be to go Against and Contradict the very NATURE, CHARACTER, and LOVE that he extends to ALL OF US, which is a FREE WILL to CHOOSE to LOVE and OBEY HIM or to choose to REJECT HIM and DISOBEY HIM.
Just look at Adam and Eve, they had a FREE WILL to CHOOSE to DISOBEY GOD or to OBEY GOD,
and they CHOSE to LISTEN TO SATAN and CHOSE SEPERATION AND DEATH.
GOD DESIRES US to LOVE and OBEY HIM by CHOOSING TO WILLINGLY, NOT BY FORCE.
That's why JESUS SAID, those who love me, OBEY ME, and keep my commandments.
Those who don't are NOT HIS.
HIS SHEEP KNOW HIS VOICE AND THEY FOLLOW HIM. And He gives THEM, (HIS SHEEP) ETERNAL LIFE.
BUT HE DOESN'T FORCE ANY OF HIS SHEEP TO REMAIN IN HIS SHEEPFOLD WHO NO LONGER CHOOSE TO FOLLOW HIM.
Another good example of this DOCTRINE is the parable of the TRUE VINE.
    (John 15:1-6) (Hebrews 6)
    (Galatians 5:19-21)
And there's Many More to support this DOCTRINE as well, but I'll stop there.
But it's simple, If we REJECT what JESUS TAUGHT and DO NOT ABIDE in HIS DOCTRINE then we don't have God PERIOD.
    WARNING!!!!!!
    (2 John 1:9)
Whosoever TRANSGRESSETH, and abideth NOT in the DOCTRINE of CHRIST, hath NOT GOD; whosoever ABIDETH IN the DOCTRINE of CHRIST hath BOTH the FATHER and the SON.

What's wrong with having a healthy fear about how you are going to spend eternity? When I was a kid, if I did something wrong and got punished for it, fear of being punished again kept me from doing that thing. There's nothing wrong with fear, but that doesn't mean you live your life by it. No one is worthy of Heaven, Christ paid for our sins. We have to trust that and trust that if we are genuinely repentant we will be forgiven. But fear of Hell is something we should all have. If you don't, you may want to rethink your position.

I really don't understand how people go to an university and get a doctorate in theology and still don't get the 101 basics of salvation and the Gospel!. Salvation is a very easy thing to grasp and understand if you let the bible speak for itself. Here is the 101 easy understanding of redemption:
1-Sin was brought to humankind (ALL THE WORLD) by Adam and Eve through disobedience to God.
2-Through one man (Adam) all the world (all his descendants) inherited a sinful nature and therefore all are under condemnation by God.
3-If ALL are under the slavery of sin and condemnation logically ALL must be rescued from slavery and death.
4-Jesus came to undo the works of Satan and free ALL those who were under bondage and slavery by offering ALL those who believe in him eternal life.
5-If ,as Calvinist claim , God gave His only begotten Son as an atonement for sin to a selected predestined group of people only. Then that would imply that the rest of the world (the ones not elected),are created and allowed to exist for the sole purpose of making them suffer an eternal punishment in hell!.
6-If point #5 is correct, are we more merciful and loving than God?.If we imperfect and sinful creatures would not create human clones for the sole purpose of sending them to a place of torment and torture here on earth, how could we envision our creator to do such thing and still worship him.The answer is, NO WE ARE NOT MORE LOVING AND MERCIFUL THAN GOD.Therefore God mercy and love would not ever allow such thing as creating beings for the sole purpose of torment and pain without the choice of avoiding such miserable and sad ending.
GRACE MOST BE OFFERED TO ALL WHO ARE SINNERS because a SINFUL nature is the only condition for which Jesus atonement could be effective and valid!.You must be a SINNER for Jesus atonement to be effective, a sinless, righteous and perfect man (Adam before the fall) does not have the need of an atonement.Only those who are under the curse of sin need to be liberated from that curse. If Calvinists are as much as sinners as the rest of humankind , why then Jesus atonement be effective and valid to Calvinists only while ineffective and invalid to the rest who meet the same SINFUL requirement (as Calvinist do) of Jesus atonement?. That is why the Bible says " God so loved the WORLD (ALL SINNERS) that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever ( ALL OF THOSE THAT ARE IN THE WORLD) believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life". The whole world (ALL) have the opportunity and offer of grace/mercy but ONLY those (the sheep that hear Jesus voice and follow him) who make the decision of accepting God grace are to BE SAVED!.
So you see, by one man (Adam) SIN and condemnation/death entered humanity (ALL THE WORLD) and by one man ( Jesus) righteousness and salvation/eternal life was brought as an offering to ALL those who believe in the Son of the ALL MIGHTY GOD OF ISRAEL!.If salvation and eternal life would be for only a selected group of people that would imply that the UNIVERSAL ("GOD SO LOVE THE WORLD") expression of an offering of salvation was a lie. My dear friends GOD CAN NOT LIE OR DECEIVE because God is TRUTHFUL,JUST AND HOLY.
You don't need a doctorate to know God's plan of salvation, God made it very simple and easy for us to understand and follow Jesus road to heaven.Through Him, Jesus is the door and we ALL are offered (grace) the key (faith) to get into heaven!.Go and get the key to unlock the door (Jesus) that will give you eternal life and joy in our God's kingdom. If you can lose salvation by "running off with the other lady" 1:55 then it IS ''by works of righteousness which we have done'', and it IS ''of ourselves'' and not by grace! Remove Eph 2:8-9 and Titus 3:5 from the Bible, and a hundred others. You very subtly condone and agree with Lordship Salvation since you say we have to do something other than trust in what Jesus did for us through the death, burial, and resurrection, to receive salvation. If it is 99% Jesus and 1% us, then it is not the true gospel of grace, but has a tint of doctrines of devils. If it is 99% Jesus effort and 1% our effort, Paul's preaching was in vain and false.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
      1Peter 3:12
When we truly understand and accept grace through Jesus Christ, then that grace will NEVER drive us toward sin but away from it for we have been made a new creation! His grace, love, mercy and power through the Holy Ghost, will give us the strength to pursue a holy and righteous life in His eyes and according to His word. It is therefore impossible for one to boast of his own "righteousness" or works because it is not done by his own strength but by the strength of God and to Him be all the glory!

A temporal communion that can be altered if the human part forfeits the covenant by sinning, it is still "do this and live" He has made the covenant of grace into a covenant of works, you get in by grace but you stay in by works if you don't fulfill your part the relationship will be lost.

Without FAITH is IMPOSSIBLE to please God and if you claim to love God you MUST OBEY and SUMMIT to Jehovah God just like the Angels of God do!. Both are essential , FAITH = RIGHTIOUSNESS and TO LOVE GOD=OBEDIENCE. When Jesus asked Peter if Peter loved Jesus the LORD did not mention the lack of faith or not lack thereof of Peter.Jesus told Peter to take CARE (obedience) of Jesus flock!.Jesus asked obedience and Peter OBEYED and took care of the Church.

When they die they will be separated from God because they failed to receive forgiveness of their sins. And the only way for one to receive forgiveness of sins is for them to have believed the Gospel, 1 Cor. 15.3-4. This is synonymous to believing on the Lord Jesus Christ Acts 16.31. I disagree with Dr. Brown. The apostle John says:
"They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us." (1 John 2:19)
    and Jesus says
"For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For it is My Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:38-40)
    and the apostle Peter says
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." (1 Peter 1:3-5)
So, if you have believed, you'll never again be separated from God.

If one listens closely, beginning at about the 35 second mark, they will hear that this man changes the method of salvation from believing the Gospel to now having to follow and obey the gospel to be saved. Let it be known that no one is born again by being a doer of the word, but they ARE sanctified by being a doer of the word.

So what about Saul in the Old Testament, was he not saved? What about David when he committed adultery what did he “forfeit”? Matthew 7:21-23 is literally speaking against works bc the will of the father is to believe on Christ (John 6:47). 2 Timothy 2:13 says even when we’re faithless he is faithful. Are you saying the blood of Jesus wasn’t enough and that we have to depend on our works? Disappointing

Huge difference between being religious or born again. You can easily turn away just about from anything you believe in your head but NOT from something that has been revived/awaken inside you. I was once dead on the inside but have a new Spirit inside now and with all my flaws, I know I could never walk away from my Lord. He initiated my salvation, He maintains it and He will finish the work He began in me 27 yrs ago. Thats why we will cast our crowns at His feet, we're not worthy of them.

Here are verses that tell us a person can be unsaved(Forfeited Salvation):
If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. -John 15:6
"For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins" -Hebrews 10:26

And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again" -Romans 11:20-23

@@tommy.1002 Tommy. (Part 1) Jesus said in Matthew "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." Here Jesus says that believers or anyone who got into error was from ignorance of the Scripture.
Again in John 10:27-28, what does Jesus mean when He said, "I know them" referring to His sheep? We see in 1 Corinthians 8:3 it says, "If anyone loves God, this one is known by Him."
The first thing is in Matthew 10 Jesus said that His sheep hear his voice, that means they listen to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. The second thing is in 1 Corinthians 8:3 says if anyone loves God, He knows them. Now in John 14:21 Jesus said, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, he is the one who loves Me."
So when Jesus says, "I know them", He's means "they love Me, they keep My Word, the keep My commandments." When we put them all together we get:
(John 10:27) My sheep hear My voice, I know them. (1 Corinthians 8:3) If anyone loves God, He is known by Him. (John 14:21) Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he is the one who loves me. (John 10:28) I give them eternal life, they will never perish.
Now we see clearly who never perishes, who has eternal life. It's conditional. The person who hears the Word of God, keeps the Word of God, loves God, and follows God. That person will never perish.
Now can a person stop hearing God, stop following Him, stop loving Him and stop following Him? The answer is, yes.
In John 8:12 Jesus says, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." So what;s implied by that is, if we don't follow Him, we don;t have the light of Life. His sheep FOLLOW Him, His sheep HEARS His voice, His sheep are known by Him because they LOVE Him by keeping His Word. They will never perish.
So why is it important to know whether they can lose their salvation or not? It's very important because if people are taught they could never lose their salvation, they have no fear of God. And the Bible says that it is by the fear of the Lord that men depart from iniquity. Scripture says, the fear of the Lord is pure, and it endures forever(Psalm 19:9). The Bible says the fear of the Lord is a fountain of life(Proverbs 14:27). Whoever walks in the fear of God will abide in satisfaction, and will not be visited by evil(Proverbs 19:23).
So can a person lose their Salvation?
"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons" -1 Timothy 4:1
So to depart from the faith, you have to be in the faith. Why would you depart from the faith? Because they're listening to doctrines of demons. Where? In pulpits. The preacher who says that sin can never make you lose your salvation is being a mouthpiece of Satan in the church whether he knows it or not. Yes, Satan will set himself up in the church.
In the line "knowledge of the Lord," the original word used here is the Greek word "Epignosis" which means "experiential knowledge," which means they had a real encounter with the Living Spirit of God. And through that real encounter with the Lord, through faith in Him, they experienced His presence. They escaped the bondage lust and corruption and started walking free from sin with God and then they turned back. This is further shown in verse 22 by the use of the proverb, "A dog return to his own vomit." Now they are in a worse condition and in verse 21 it says that it was better for them to not have been even known the Lord to just turn away from all goodness. It would have been better to never have known Christ and then just end up going to hell. Their damnation will be worse now because they knew the truth and yet turned away.
Now this again, I can never stress enough, is very important to understand. The OSAS teaching is dangerous because it makes lazy and complacent Christians and doesn't bring unrepentant sinners to genuine sorrow and contrition. Many young people nowadays, who grew up in church, were touched by the Lord, even prayed to receive Him, but got enticed by lusts of the world, then went away from God. The sad thing is, many parents or Christians are not concerned that their loved ones are on their way to eternal damnation, because they think that they're still saved anyway. We need to know the truth so that this will make us pray for them, and bring them back to the Lord.
      Let's look at another passage.
"For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses." -Hebrews 10:26-28
Again we have the same Greek word epignosis used in the line, "knowledge of the truth." And in verse 29 it says,
"How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?" -Hebrews 10:29
Insulting the Holy Spirit is blaspheming Him and is the unforgivable sin that causes one to lose salvation when He unseals Himself. This is when people sear their consciences and no longer feel guilty when they do wrong which is an evidence that the Holy Spirit has left that soul, removing His seal.
Now notice it says here that the blood of the covenant that sanctified the person, this clearly is a person who was saved and yet turned away. If this passage doesn't convince you that you can lose your salvation after being sanctified by the blood of Jesus, I don't know what will. If you think that this person is not going to hell only chastised or disciplined, open your eyes and read again because this whole passage, from verse 26-29 says this person has no more forgiveness and even has worse punishment awaiting in hell.
Now this clearly is saying that the person willfully returned to sinning after being sanctified by the blood of Christ and having knowledge of the truth. The author of Hebrews is saying how much worse punishment are you going to get for treating the blood of Christ with contempt. This however doesn't say that a willful sin cannot be forgiven, only the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit. He's not talking about a sin, but a lifestyle of willful sin. All of us have probably sinned after we got saved but if you got sanctified by the blood of Christ and go back to a lifestyle of rebellion and willful sin, only then there would be no sacrifice left for you. The only thing waiting for you is punishment. For sure you can repent, but if you stay in willful sin and rebellion, and you die in your sins, then it is over for you, you don't get saved. This is why people need to know what true repentance is because if you plan to live a sinful lifestyle first then repent at the end, then it is not genuine and you have not been repentant in the first place. **Read the Topic: Repentance
      Warning and Teaching
Colossians 1:28 says, "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus"
The Gospel that Paul preached was full of warnings. We warn and we teach. This is one of those warnings:
"Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ." -Hebrews 3:12-14
Paul is warning us because we know what can happen when we give place to the world, we begin compromise. We start hanging out with ungodly people and we expose ourselves to ungodliness. The Bible says evil companions corrupt good character, it is important who we hang out with. Paul was talking to his brothers and sisters in Christ, saved Christians, telling them that to warn each other not to be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin, for we have been partakers in Christ IF we remain faithful until the very end.
"Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works." -2 John 1:8-11
Like Paul, the Apostle John also warns us about not losing what we have worked hard for which means it is possible to lose what you have gained so far because you can't lose what you don't have. If it wasn't possible to lose, the apostle wouldn't have said, "so that you may not lose" which means you may lose it.
"He who endures to the end will be saved." -Matthew 10:22

@@tommy.1002 (Part 2) Now we are saved by Grace through faith, and real Saving Faith has ACTION. Saving Faith changes the way we behave(this is true repentance, a new attitude). James 2:17-18 says,
"So too, faith by itself, if it is not complemented by ACTION, is DEAD. But someone will say, 'You have faith and I have deeds.' Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds."
In other words what we believe changes how we behave. If what we believe doesn't change the way we behave, we don't really believe it, then if you die of unbelief, we know where that leads. The Bible teaches us that we are saved by Faith and we are judged by our works because our works show what we believe. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says,
"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his DEEDS in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad."
Everyone will be rewarded or punished according to the good or bad deeds, which means our works. Jesus said,
"Behold, I come at once, and my reward is with me, and I shall give to every person according to his work."
In other versions it says "according to his deeds" and others say "according to what he has done." Our works show what we believe and if we don't have works that correspond with what we truly believe in our hearts, we don't truly believe it. John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:8,
"Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance" KJV
"Bear fruit in keeping with repentance" ESV
"Produce fruit worthy of repentance" BSB
"Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God." NLT
"Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance" NET
John was talking to the Pharisees and Sadducees and in verse 9 he said to them,
"And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."
He said to bring forth fruits. And in the next verse,
"every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire"
And this was repeated by Jesus in Matthew and in John:
"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, by their fruit you will recognize them" -Matthew 7:19-20
"If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned." -John 15:6
      Again Paul tells us,
"Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear." -Philippians 2:12
The next verse we look is Romans 2:4:
"Or do you despise the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?"
So here Paul tells us that we must not despise His kindness, forbearance and long-suffering with us when we are in sin. God is patient and kind because He is not willing that any should perish. God said in Ezekiel 33:11,
"I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked."
"But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS:" -Romans 2:5
In verse 7 he's going to describe what saving faith looks like:
"to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life" -Romans 2:7
We see the Scripture cannot contradict itself. When it says we're saved by grace through faith, we indeed are, but that saving faith, when the Holy Spirit comes in us, there's a change in our heart and we're born again, we desire the Lord seeking only righteousness and truth, we hear His voice, we love God and follow Him. Saving faith looks like this. God will give eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seeking for glory, honor and immortality.
Now when we look into verses 8 and 9 we see what false faith looks like:
"But for those who are SELF-SEEKING and who REJECT the TRUTH and FOLLOW WICKEDNESS, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Greek"
And in verses 10-11 we end with,
"but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.
      Another verse is John 15:5-7
"I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."
      Another verse is Romans 11:19-23
"You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either. Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again."
Here Paul is speaking about the Jews who didn't believe so then salvation went to the gentiles. Paul calls the Jews the "natural" branches olive tree, and us Gentiles as "wild" olive shoot. So the natural olive tree is Israel, but because of unbelief, they were broken off, meaning they fell away from God, the the Gospel went to the Gentiles and when they got saved, they were grafted in and became part of the tree. Here we see that if God didn't spare the natural branches, He may not spare us who grafted in either. God shows no favoritism or partiality towards anyone, for He is just and righteous. And in the middle of verse 22 we see it's conditional when we read, "IF you continue to remain in His goodness/kindness, otherwise you will also be cut off." Here Jesus clearly says that if you abide in Him and CONTINUE to abide in Him until the very end of course, and if you don't continue in Him, you will be a branch cut off and thrown into the fire. Likewise if the natural branches do not continue in unbelief, they will be restored.
James 5:19-20 "My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, consider this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins"
This tells us that Christians can wander from the truth, and if they do not repent, their soul will die when they would be cast into eternal fire which is the second death (Revelation 20:14)
The last Passage is Ezekiel 18:23-24,
"Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Would I not prefer he turn from his ways and live? But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die"
Why would a Gospel preacher teach once saved always saved when throughout the Scriptures it says otherwise? If you take a few verses that when you take them out of context, misinterpret one or two of them, and ignore all the other warnings about losing your salvation, you could make a case for "once saved always saved" that sounds very appealing. Some are sincerely in teaching this but they're deceived. However there are others who are cunning, scheming, and wicked, and their motive evil. These people are wolves in sheep's clothing teaching men's doctrines.
"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming." - Ephesians 4:14
Now how did this winds of doctrine come? How does Once saved Always Saved and other doctrines like there would be no more judgement after the cross, or the law was abolished because Jesus fulfilled it, and many more? The answer is by the trickery of men, in cunning craftiness and deceitful plotting. There are wicked men in pulpits, and everywhere. Some are world-famous, some on the internet, tv, radio, social media, and they have a large following.
So we must become people who regularly read and study the Bible for our selves, to feed our souls, and to mature and saturate our lives with God's Holy Spirit through His Word. We are secure when we are following Jesus, and when we stop following Him, we start nervous and uncomfortable, and we should. It's God's gift called conscience, when the Holy Spirit convicts us of our wrong doing, He is telling us that we are straying away and must come back to the straight narrow path. If someone stops following Jesus and feels comfortable, they are in big danger because it seams they have seared their conscience. Our conscience is the sealing of the Holy Spirit, and once you get drunk on false doctrines you become deaf to the voice of the Spirit, and you cut off the only hotline to God. This false doctrines sears our conscience so you can live in sin comfortably and that's a dangerous place to be.
      Summary
So far we have Scripture that tells us we can lose our faith, and thus salvation, these are:
      John 15:1-6, Hebrews 10:26-29, Hebrews 6:4-6, 2 Peter 2:20-22, Ezekiel 18:24, Matthew 7:19-20, John 15:6, 1 John 1:8-11 Romans 2:5,
And the passage that tells us it already happened to some in the past:
      Romans 11:20-23
And the passage that tells us it will happen in the future is:
      1 Timothy 4:1

      @@tommy.1002 (Pat 3) Refuting OSAS
In Ephesians 2:8-9, Paul is simply saying God saves us because He wants to and not because we do good works, and this is to refute the thinking that we can earn salvation by works(works-based salvation). This doesn't talk about not losing your salvation, just tells us how one gets saved - by grace and mercy of God.
Ephesians 1:13 and Ephesians 1:13 also talks about the sealing of the Holy Spirit upon receiving salvation but it doesn't talk about not losing the sealing or salvation.
John 3:16 talks about receiving salvation by believing but doesn't talk about not losing faith or salvation. We can choose to believe now and not believe tomorrow, this is what 1 Timothy 4:1 talks about people losing from the faith. In John 8
John 10:27-28 talks about no one able to snatch the sheep which seems like OSAS but when we go through the Scriptures we get the answer.
And we clearly see that these are those who hears the Word of God, keeps the Word of God, loves God, and follows God are the ones who will not perish. This means those who stop hearing, keeping the Word and following God, and die in their sin, they will perish.
      Supporting Scriptures:
      John 8:12, Psalm 19:9, Proverbs 14:27, Proverbs 19:23, Colossians 1:28, Hebrews 3:12-14, Matthew 10:22, James 2:17-18, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Matthew 3:8, Philippians 2:12, James 5:19-20, Ephesians 4:14
      A Message of Concern
It's possible to take a few isolated verses and ignore all these other verses we talk about here, and quote:
John 10:27-28 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand."
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
Ephesians 1:13 "In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit"
And when you take these verses and teach a nice package message and is someone who doesn't read and study their Bible, hears this message, you can deceive them into thinking once saved always saved. There are millions who are already deceived. And if you think you can't be deceived, chances are you already are. So if people hear a message with just these verses that show security, they don't understand it, but it will sound good to them. This creates lazy, complacent, Christians who are in error and go into a lifestyle of sin thinking they're eternally saved and can never be lost. This false confidence that people are going to heaven no matter what, is a great deception because of doctrines of demons.
      Final Words and Encouragement
Now this doesn't mean that if you sin after you have accepted Christ and chose to follow His ways, that you lose your salvation. We all stumble and make mistakes because we still are not perfect, however we have a new attitude towards sin, and new desires to go after God. We no longer should want to do willful sin. If your heart is to love God and to follow Jesus, you are secure and God will keep you, but if you depart from the faith, willfully go into sin and rebellion or go back to a sinful lifestyle, you are in grave danger. God doesn't want anyone to perish, even if His children stumble and fall, He's not willing that any should perish. Yes we do stumble from time to time, however it should not be willful sin, we still have our sinful nature and we have our weak moments, but we must remain in faith and persevere until the very end. But we must know that truth that God is not to be trifled with, He doesn't play games, so we must be genuine in our hearts, in our faith, believing in His Word, acting on His Word, and following Him until the end. A Final scripture that encourages us is Hebrews 12:1,
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with patience/endurance/perseverance the race God has set before us."
This is the final passage which I did not include in my argument but rather I use as an appeal. Paul is a perfect example of someone who endured till the end, therefore we must follow his example and this is what we want to say ourselves, in 2 Timothy 4:6 he says:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
And at the end of this race, this earthly life, The Lord will tell us,
"Well done good and faithful servant."

The Bible knows nothing of a person who repeats a prayer, then lives the next 10, 20, 30 years maybe attending a church here and there, but having zero spiritual interest or growth in that time!

The Bible’s answer No, it does not teach the doctrine of ‘once saved, always saved.’ A person who has gained salvation by faith in Jesus Christ can lose that faith and the salvation that comes with it. The Bible says that maintaining faith requires great effort, a “hard fight.” (Jude 3, 5) Early Christians who had already accepted Christ were told: “Keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”-Philippians 2:12.
Bible verses that disprove the teaching of ‘once saved, always saved’
The Bible warns against serious sins that will keep a person from entering God’s Kingdom. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21) If salvation could not be lost, such warnings would be meaningless. Instead, the Bible shows that someone who has been saved can fall away by returning to a practice of serious sin. For example, Hebrews 10:26 states: “If we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left.”-Hebrews 6:4-6; 2 Peter 2:20-22.
Jesus emphasized the importance of maintaining faith by giving an illustration in which he likened himself to a vine and his followers to branches on that vine. Some of them would at one time demonstrate faith in him by their fruits, or actions, yet would later fail to do so and be “thrown out like a [fruitless] branch,” losing their salvation. (John 15:1-6) The apostle Paul used a similar illustration, saying that Christians who do not maintain their faith “will be lopped off.”-Romans 11:17-22.
Christians are commanded to “keep on the watch.” (Matthew 24:42; 25:13) Those who fall asleep spiritually, whether by practicing “works belonging to darkness” or by not fully performing the works that Jesus commanded, lose their salvation.-Romans 13:11-13; Revelation 3:1-3.
Many scriptures show that those who have been saved must still endure faithfully to the end. (Matthew 24:13; Hebrews 10:36; 12:2, 3; Revelation 2:10) First-century Christians expressed joy when they learned that fellow believers were enduring in their faith. (1 Thessalonians 1:2, 3; 3 John 3, 4) Does it seem reasonable that the Bible would stress faithful endurance if those who did not endure would be saved anyway?
Only when his death was imminent did the apostle Paul feel that his salvation was assured. (2 Timothy 4:6-8) Earlier in his life, he recognized that he could still miss out on salvation if he gave in to fleshly desires. He wrote: “I pummel my body and lead it as a slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself should not become disapproved somehow.”-1 Corinthians 9:27; Philippians 3:12-14.

I do love watching Dr. Brown, but I have to disagree. What I don't get is the last statement. How can we trust in God's keeping power, if we ourselves can forfeit it. Did God let that person go? God moves us to choose Him, otherwise we wouldn't choose Him. If He lets us go, wouldn't we surely fall away? Should we pray for God to never let us go and be in fear that we may not die while His grace was shining upon us? What would be the purpose for God to save us for a season, but then cast us off...unless we are saying God doesn't save, but we are responsible for saving ourselves? I think it is more biblical to pray in thanks that God had mercy and grace on those He draws and thank Him for never letting us go. I can't imagine God saying, "I wish I could've saved that man, but he wouldn't let me" or "If only that person died while he was in belief, but my drawing was not enough to help man to maintain that belief and eventually turned away".

Yes, the faithfulness is God's. A person who is truly saved, I do not believe can ever really deny Christ. John says as much about those who left They were never "one of us." And since Paul teaches that He who began a good work in us us FAITHFUL to complete it, that tells me that once we are adopted, given life, sealed with the Spirit, then he is faithful to keep us and complete his work in us. That we can be confident about that, confident. HE is faithful. It's his work in us.

μένω (meno): abide, continue, endure, persevere, remain, stay exactly right where you already are
Here are some examples of the NT use of the Greek word μένω & some of the verses it connects to disprove ES/OSAS, & some other verses that concur as cross-references to them.
    1 JOHN 2:24
    Let that therefore ABIDE...
(μενέτω - present imperative active - 3rd person singular of μένω)
...in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall REMAIN...
(μείνῃ - aorist subjunctive active - 3rd prsn. snglr. of μένω)
...in you, ye also shall CONTINUE...
(μενεῖτε - future indicative active - 2nd person plural of μένω)
...in the Son, & in the Father.
    1 CORINTHIANS 15:
    1 Moreover, brethren; I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, & wherein ye stand;
2 by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    2 COR. 6:1
We then, as workers together with Him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
    HEBREWS 12:15
Oversee diligently lest anyone fall away from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, & thereby many be defiled.
    JOHN 15:6
    If a man ABIDE...
    (μένῃ - present subjunctive active - 3rd p. s. of μένω)
...not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, & is withered; & men gather them & cast them into the fire, & they are burned.
    ROMANS 11:
20 Rightly so, by unbelief they were broken off. But thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear.
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest He also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness & severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou CONTINUE...
    (ἐπιμένῃς - present subjunctive active - 2nd p. s. of μένω w/ ἐπί prefix)
...in His goodness. Otherwise, thou also shalt be cut off.
    COLOSSIANS 1:
21 And you that were sometime alienated & enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled
22 in the body of His flesh through death; to present you holy & unblameable & unreproveable in His sight,
    23 if ye CONTINUE...
(ἐπιμένετε - present indicative active - 2nd prsn. plrl. of μένω w/ ἐπί prefix)

(ὑπομονὴν - noun - accusative feminine singular of μένω w/ ὑπο prefix)
    ...in good work seek for glory, honor, & incorruptibility: eternal life;
8 but to those who are contentious & disobedient to the truth because they are persuaded to unrighteousness: wrath & indignation.
    HEB. 10:35-39
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of PATIENCE,...
(ὑπομονῆς - noun - genitive feminine singular of μένω w/ ὑπο prefix)
...so that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while & He that will appear, shall arrive, & will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith. But if any man draw back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of those drawing back into destruction, but of those believing until the saving of the soul.
    HEB. 3:6, 12-14
6 But Christ as a Son over His own house; Whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence & the rejoicing of the hope firm until the end.
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today"; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast until the end.
    MAT. 24:13
    But he that shall ENDURE...
(ὑπομείνας - aorist participle active - nominative masculine singular of μένω w/ ὑπο prefix)
...until the end, the same shall be saved.
    1 TIM. 4:16
Take heed unto thyself, & unto the doctrine; CONTINUE...
(ἐπίμενε - present imperative active - 2nd person singular of μένω w/ ἐπί prefix)
...in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, & them that hear thee.
These Bible verses prove that a soul is not saved instantly & totally by momentary faith, but constantly & finally (after death) through maintained fidelity. And these are just the tip of the iceberg. Therefore the doctrine of Eternal Security (in this lifetime), also known as: "Once Saved Always Saved", is a lie. Only after a soul has followed Jesus Christ all the way to Heaven is it eternally secure & always safe.

It is impossible for a true believer to turn from God. Nothing in heaven or earth or under the earth will separate us from the love of God or the love the saved have for him.

    Dr. Brown:
I generally agree with you and I generally agree with you on this topic, to the point of using *exactly* the analogy you just did: we don't lose our salvation like we lose our car keys.
However, I've poured over Jesus's words (the Reason for the Season) and I am now more persuaded that it may be easier to lose one's salvation somewhat more like losing car keys.
The thing that concerns me most is the type-3 soil that doesn't apostatize or fall into grievous or predatory sins, it merely gets distracted by the cares of the world and the pride of life. The other thing that concerns me is the verse about the plowman who becomes unworthy of the Kingdom just by turning his head.
I would say a lot of nominal western Christianity would fall in the fruitless type-3 category, and I'd even say that there's a significant class of Christians serious enough to go to church or listen to radio or YT and are constantly assured they are saved by faith alone, it's a sacrilege to try to "earn" salvation through obedience, and they can't possibly lose their salvation passively (as I think you're saying.)
Not a sermon, just a concern.

II Peter 2 is not just talking about false teachers. It is false teachers teaching that one has all liberty in Christ to blatantly sin (OSAS) without striving in the doctrine of Christ which teaches otherwise. Peter says that these false teachers use swelling words to lure the saved through the lust of their flesh, that this doctrine promises salvation in much wantonness (undisciplined in the doctrine of Christ). After the saved are lured into apostasy they then are worse off than if they had never been saved. Ephesians 5- Here Paul is talking to those who have been converted. Be ye therefore followers of God in love. Walk in love as God has also loved us and has given himself as a sacrifice and offering for us. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among the saints (believers). Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient, but instead giving thanks. Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the disobedient. For ye were in darkness but now come to the light, walk as children of light. For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness, and truth. So folks is Paul saying here to listen to OSAS which contradicts his message or is he saying don't let any man deceive you so you find it acceptable to live in blatant sin? This OSAS doctrine is false. Hebrews 6:4-6- For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened (note here it says those once enlightened meaning they no longer are enlightened/lost) and have tasted of the heavenly gift (received gifts of the Holy Spirit) made partakers of the Holy Ghost. And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come. 6- If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. So here folks this is clearly not saying it is impossible for a spirit filled man to lose his salvation. It is saying that if such a man listens to the vain doctrines of man instead of adhering to sound doctrine, walking in goodness and righteousness as he has been taught then that man becomes a reprobate. He loses his salvation and he can not get it back. For Christ gave his sacrifice once for him and after accepting that sacrifice and coming to the full knowledge of Christ through the word (Christian doctrine) and as a mature Christian receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit, he thereafter rejects God by rejecting sound doctrine and not practicing sound doctrine, then that man has in essence blasphemed the Holy Spirit having glorified in the Spirit and thereafter spit in the Spirits face through blatant disobedience. Therefore he has put Christ to shame. This is the unpardonable sin. That is why in II Peter 2; 18-22 Peter says it would be better for such a backslider to have never came to Christ than after coming to the knowledge of Christ turn from it, that the latter end is worse than the beginning for such a man. That is because before coming to Christ the lost have hope of salvation in Christ. But after one comes to Christ and becomes knowledgeable in Christian doctrine and has matured spiritually to the point that the Holy Spirit gifts operate in him, if he then turns away from that faith he has no avenue to be saved again as Christ made that sacrifice for him once and he received that sacrifice once but then forfeited it through disobedience. That is why Peter stated that the false ministers use vain swelling words to lure the saved into believing they have all liberty in Christ to do whatever they chose to satisfy their flesh by convincing them through much wantonness (undisciplined in Christ). This does not mean that the Christian has to nor can be perfect in Christ as one will continuously sin. The difference is that those striving toward perfection in Christ will recognize their error and seek to correct it whereas the reprobate will take the attitude that the sacrifice of Christ saved them no matter what they do and will continue in error and some even going into utter corruption. When those sincere in faith err, then their sin is not imputed upon them for they are saved by their faith and not their works. However good works/righteousness is evident of faith. So no good works equals no real faith. Deliberate and constant evil works proves disobedience and no faith. Any sucker can say I believe in Christ dying for my sin and go on living as if Christ never died for him made evident when he refuses to be obedient to him (striving toward perfection in sincere faith). This scripture is dealing with the mature Christian after coming to the full knowledge of Christ and having ate of the fruit of God (Holy Spirit gifts) has turned from them. The babes in Christ are unlearned and carnal minded. They can err out of ignorance and therein practice unsound doctrine and afterward come to the absolute truth and be saved. They can not as unlearned babes blaspheme the Spirit as they have not received the ripe fruits of the Spirit through the gifts. Of course they can remain carnal and remain in delusion and be lost because they have not come to the true Christ. They have no excuse for falling in and remaining in false doctrine and therein following a false Christ (they have a false concept of Christ and his teachings/Christian doctrine), because they are given instruction to study their word, not to remain little babes vulnerable to suckle the milk of all sorts of doctrines. Christians are not to rely solely on another man to teach them truth, as the indoctrinated man's concept of Christ is only as valid as the integrity and knowledge of those who teach him. Study your word. then you can discern what is true and what is false. Today we have all these indoctrinated babes sucking from the sour breast milk of false ministers and going forth thinking they are mature and knowledgeable and regurgitating this putrid curdle all over the body of Christ. They are ignorant because they rely on imperfect men, many of who are manipulators, using the word deceitfully for self enrichment. They do not depend on the firsthand study of the word of God as their primary teacher. The ignorant teaching the ignorant producing ignorant.

In 2 Peter the Apostle warns his fellow Jews that false prophets will arise in the latter days. He's not referring to the church age. He's referring to the Second Coming. This passage has nothing to do with a person being baptized into Christ's body, through His death, burial, and resurrection, to be born again. Ephesians is THE letter we need to read.

Nicodemus asked Jesus CAN A MAN RETURN TO HIS MOTHER'S WOMB AFTER HE WAS BORN??? We know that answer. How much more in the Spirit when a man is TRULY BORN AGAIN? THE BIBLE SAYS that we are a NEW CREATION ALTOGETHER. The old man is gone. So how can I get my old man back once I've been BORN OF GOD??? You can't. 1 John 2 tells us about the false teachers who used to be with them. It goes on to say that the fact that they left means that they really wasn't with them in the first place. When you're truly born again you are truly a brand new creation and you can't deny God

From the moment of birth, you have had a sinful nature and are dead toward God, spiritually speaking. It is only a true believer that can turn from God.

@@kimwestwood8840 Kim, thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. Soteriology is a complex subject. On the one hand, even a child can understand the gospel unto salvation and yet on the other hand, great scholars have debated it for years. As with any doctrine in scripture, it is important to study the entire body of scriptures applicable to the topic in question. That is why I would caution you about calling the bible rubbish and Jesus a liar based on a single verse from Ephesians.
I am not going to tell you that you are wrong or try to "correct" you. I will however present some ideas for you to consider. 1st, I think you will find that salvation is not something accomplished only in the past. Salvation is spoken of in past, present, and future tenses. We have been saved. We are being saved. And we will be saved. I will not provide the scriptures for you. If you genuinely want to confirm this, a simple concordance search will do the trick.
2nd, I wonder if you have truly considered the implications of stating that a saved person is permanently sealed by the Holy Spirit. This would mean a person cannot quench the Spirit. It also means a person cannot fall away from the faith as Hymenaeous and Alexander did by rejecting faith and a good conscience and made shipwreck of their faith. It also means that a person cannot have an evil unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. (Heb 3:12).
3rd, your belief that a person cannot remove themselves from the Father's hand implies that once saved, we no longer have free will. Perhaps you ascribe to Calvinistic teaching. If that is the case, then I would wonder why you bother to post anything on this subject because there is nothing you or anyone else can do to "convince anyone that will never seek the Father for truth."
Lastly, I would encourage you to consider the implications of Phil 2:12-13. I have come to believe that these two verses are key to understanding a whole lot of the NT.
If you would like to discuss this further, I would be happy to hear from you. God bless

@@thereturn2361 You misunderstand me. I am not at all saying the bible is rubbish or calling Jesus a liar. I have been saved 30 years . I am saying that if someone uses scripture to refute permanent salvation, THEN they are making the bible to be confusing, and contradictory, which it is not. They also do not believe the simplicity of the good news for salvation made clear by Jesus in John 3 , 4 times. If Jesus says something 4 times, apparently we need to believe it. The 2 verses that tie salvation scriptures together are in 1 John 3:8-9. Born again believers cannot sin ( in the blameless spirit of the new man) and the works of the devil are destroyed permanently. If Jesus tells me I am in the Father's hand and nobody can snatch me out, including the devil or myself, then I take Him at His word. Getting saved, being saved is simple. It is man's FALSE DOCTRINE THAT HAS COMPLICATED IT ..Thats all I'm saying
