Metallica Play the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness - April 20th, 1992
Jesus, it's hard to believe it's been so long. Nintendo, HBO, tons of Pizza and METALLICA. A healthy diet for my 16 year old self.
U.S. Navy - VP-10 - six month deployment to Puerto Rico in 1993. We wore out these VHS tapes playing this every day in the lounge in the barracks. We'd play the album on the internal communications system on the Lockheed P-3C Orion while in flight conducting missions. Thanks guys.
So awesome! Thank you for your service!
@@classicdisaster3766 Thank you and you are welcome 👍
My home, hope you've been able to come back on vacation or something, thank you for your service. 🇵🇷🤘
@@drake8168 My pleasure and you are welcome :-)
I miss Jason's bass sound and Jason. Thanks for uploading this. 🤘🏻
epic bass tone for sure
Killer bass player and underrated, criminally underrated vocalist.
You mean you miss his headbanging cuz that's all he contributed to Metallica
@@Beserker3737no you come latelys think he's a Metallica demigod because you like the way he bangs his head.... He's pretty popular with you come latelys
I feel like I'm 16 again watching this. How has 30 years gone by so fast? 😲
Tell me about it, brother! Time flies!
Horrifying, isn't it?
😩😩😩
@@kwoylee5617 honestly..............?
Yes.
Right there with yall
Kirk really spiced up the songs with his solos on the black album. I will always love his solos on this album.
Yes and then at the same time you have all the bedrooms players shitting on Kirk Hammett thinking they can do better only because they play more complicated scales or faster or whatever ... But thy simply don't understand what makes good music. Including composing great solo's that serve the songs.
Man, that bass tone is killer. It sounds so good!
The guitar IS Metallica
Man, Kirk's solo in "Don't Thread on Me" sounds great.
He put a lot of work into his parts and on top of that had a producer who wouldn't put up with any lazy shit! haha!
This is a song about a chronic sewing addiction.
I watched these VHS tapes 100's of times and I still quote it to this day
Same here!
30 years later if there's ever a mysterious puddle on the ground I still ask my sister "is that piss" and she responds "okay, Kirk."
"It's all fun and games til someone loSSes an eye..."
30:43 Lars writes the intro to Hardwired to Self Destruct
This is better than the old 'year and a half..." version. awesome!
Awesome!!Thank you for downloading this!!Been looking forward to seeing it
After a nice meal and a couple of beers, a perfect round up for my evening brought back some memories. Thanx guys.😁
This is the best way to start my day. My heart is full
I love this
Absolutely love SBT is fave
Boss tune!
I just wanna say Niceone for posting this too 🤘🏼
11:48 Wow. Jason admitted it himself why his bass was turned down on Justice.
Nobody cared about that when and justice came out.... Only you come lately internet Metallica fans care
1:37:16 Here's a part that was cut off ...
It's just when Jason is being interviewed by MTV and the rest of the others are waiting for him for a photo shoot.
In the section that they cut, it can hear how Kirk and James start insulting Jason in a very bad way.
Lars: "Hey dick come here!"
James: "Just because he's in the mix now he thinks we have to wait for him"
Got a link to the full thing?
Lars just needs a fuckin’ slap!!
does anyone know where we can see the scene of this?🥲
I was, like, nine years old when this album came out. My dad introduced it to me by playing the tape (remember those?) in his truck all the time back then. Hard to believe it's been three decades since then
32:56 The arpeggios Jason plays on this part are barely audible on the record. Such a shame as it sounds so good!
Also something nice is these outtakes show that the whole band basically was really liking what Jason was doing there. Bob was the only one against it. Nice to see for all those who think Jason was nothing but shit on literally ever. Not true. Jason taught James the Blackened riff after all.
@@ManallLockhart I always thought it was interesting that James would complain Jason followed too much. But bob had Jason following quite a bit
It's interesting that most of the footage of the recording of their Number 1 single from this album (Sandman) was relegated to the cutting room floor for this outtake release.
At 9:02, holy fuck. I was at that Meadowlands show on the And Justice for All tour and I’ve had tinnitus ever since. That was the worst mixed show I’ve ever been to in my life. But I’m not a douchebag who forgets to pull wadded up paper towel out of his ears.
Super cool!
The making of The Unforgiven \m/ personally my all time favorite Metallica song
Same, probably one of the best songs of all time in general
@@dolantho yeah, I agree: the Unforgiven is a masterpiece! The intro, the solo, the outro and especially the lyrics \m/
Jason was such a nice guy!
A lot of ppl shit on the Black Album but as a life long Virginia Tech fan (VT comes into the stadium to "Enter Sandman") and rock n roll fan, I love this record!
That white/cream color ESP Explorer James had was an absolute tone monster.
I remember I used to have that same drum machine the Alesis hr 16
Will you upload a CD interviews with Fricke and Chirazi?
1:31:22 there was a time when nobody knew lyrics of this song...
A history on the making
Lars is so genuine. ❣️
Ohhhh Yurrrrr!
Man, when they started recording this I was 12!! Now I’m nearly 46
That Spector NS2 bass tone is irreplaceable.
This is metal history
Prime Papa Het
15:31 James making fun off Lars' fills :D :D :D
Best fuckin times.. Best fuckin metallica line up.. They need to get Bob back these days...
This album is there Dark Side Of the Moon!
If only it were in 4K...
43:26 That party doesn't happen until 2008, Bob. #Foreshadowing
James has never had a rhythm sound as good as he had on the Black Album.
37:11 - "It's known that I play Les Pauls... I'm not being scandalous."
This has been elevated from mildly amusing to actively hilarious, after seeing so many Gibson fanboys with their boxers in a bunch after the release of the Greeny signature Les Paul. 😸
i wonder why they didnt put the making "my friend of misery, of wolf n man, holier than thou, god that fail, roam, struggle within "
When I was listen first time nothing else matters.. I think wrote for cliff...
some kind of a year in the life of a monster, seriously though this is like SKOM jr, just less dramatic.
Jason Newsted is Relevant!
Holy fuck did I just see Jason wearing Laibach t-shirt.
where are the groupies
Why James put a white tape on 12 and 15 frets in his white Explorer?
I’m guessing the tape is muting the strings that he doesn’t play on that particular song/take to minimise noise
The reason why he has such a precise tone on the album.
One of those, Get that sheet grenade close, You wont play it the same way in 30 years anyway
The guys learned a boat load about music theory from Bob. Bob is actually a 5th member
the wall is covered with porn.
We miss JASON!
Only come latelys miss him... He didn't do nothing but bang his head... As long as the original members are still around Metallica doesn't need Jason
12:45 the nudity right there properly from truckdrivers and perverts itselfs
I have never seen James playing a strat..
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already but someone edited Kirk's tirade at 38:41. He originally said "fuckin' butt buddies in fuckin' Brooklyn" but here they've not so seamlessly removed "butt."
1:30:25
Who is this woman??? 11:28 And then at 1:03:34 Lars is like look at my pretty legs...lol
