One of the best sets in the history of tiny desk concerts. Lydia, your insecurities were apparent, but you were always good enough from the start. Utterly excellent set I keep coming back to over and over.
i guess im randomly asking but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
I am yet to find a song she's written that I'm not attuned to....tremendous talent here...as a songwriter and performer. She's believable and sincere....I get it!!
Can't be denying yourself them young acts though bro. I dunno but when it comes to musicians, every now and then there's some teenagers that tap into some serious creative juice and there's a certain angst, naivety and energy that only teenagers and young-20s can embody IMO. Maybe not so much with country/folk/Americana (the style lends itself to wisdom, restraint and technical ability that comes with age), but certainly in punk, hip hop, indie, metal and pop music you gotta be on the lookout for those drop-out up and comers.
Saw her open for the Old 97s and was thoroughly impressed. I also love the seemingly random amalgamation of people in the band. They look like they're all from different eras and genres.
That’s exactly what’s wrong with the kids: they all think they need to be within 18 months of each other, and they all look/dress/sound the same. Boring.
I was lucky enough to try out for her band as bassist, and she picked Ben instead of me, and I really don't mind, she's super sweet and the month of practices was a blast!
excellent, its raunchy , rock n' roll, without that bit of salt i was gonna move on n' never look back but she got me with the chorus and Rickinbocker sounds awesome here.
Thank you Bob and NPR for inviting Lydia to perform a Tiny Desk, Lydia's a hard rocker at heart but the intimate (Tiny!) setting forced her (and Todd) to restrain a bit = an AWESOME performance! COLUMBUS represent! :-)
Glad to see she's playing with a band. Saw her live a short while after her first mention on "All Songs" in 2012, just her and her guitar and she easily overpowered her poor instrument.
I notice the PBR can is still edited out from the original video, today is 8-1-17, the PBR 24 ounce was on the desk. Interesting... And I notice that my prior comment on this was deleted.
I don't mean disrespect to her band,,, but this is clearly a woman held back by the larger music's industry failure to believe how great she is. Great and upsetting at the same time.
The audio has degraded substantially with this, I blame NPR. Why? Because of their edits. I've watched this since it came out, they edited out a PBR 24oz can in the first song that was there at the start. It only appears later now, them wanting it to be PG13 despite the adult lyrics warning? This is the best set by Lydia Loveless ever, potentially in the history of tiny desk concerts. Restore the original NPR, your edits have hurt the quality of your work. Fix your own mistakes. I've watched dozens of tiny desk concerts that are 3 and 4 years old, never a sound degradation issue. Only on this one, please fix it.
I've been coming back here for years.
This is a woman who I can't get enough of...hard-edged...yet filled with sincere emotion...a true artist!!

She sings straight from her toes, just belts it out. Lydia is a treasure.

@Darius Ricky Instablaster ;)
Lydia is an American treasure...
I am yet to find a song she's written that I'm not attuned to....tremendous talent here...as a songwriter and performer. She's believable and sincere....I get it!!
I just saw the doc on Amazon about her. At my age of 47 I rarely listen to young acts, but Lydia is truly special. Unique.
I'm also 47, and I was introduced to her music about this same time. She's brilliant!

Lydia is great. I've been listening to her for several years now. Glad to see her on here.
Wow, Lydia has a world class voice! It's up there with Neko Case, which is saying a lot. I'm excited to watch her grow as an artist.
I thoroughly enjoy the way the bass player is having his own very private experience.
Pretty sure he was her husband at this point.
Saw her open for the Old 97s and was thoroughly impressed. I also love the seemingly random amalgamation of people in the band. They look like they're all from different eras and genres.
What's amalgamation mean
That’s exactly what’s wrong with the kids: they all think they need to be within 18 months of each other, and they all look/dress/sound the same. Boring.
I was lucky to see her early in my hometown, Columbus, Ohio...LOVE HERRRR
I was lucky enough to try out for her band as bassist, and she picked Ben instead of me, and I really don't mind, she's super sweet and the month of practices was a blast!

Love me some Lydia. Great live shows.
I have always loved her but I can’t stop listening to her constantly lately!
Never heard of her before today. Love her voice, and how she styles her singing.
Great vocals and great musicians.
Her voice is stunning.
My new favorite song bar none. COME TO RENO, WE LOVE YOU!!!
Amazing! Another great find from Tiny Desk!

Been watching this all week. Hope she stops through Tulsa.
Uh wow...
the band sounds amazing in this...
the drummer is blowing me away
um Yes lol!
I don't usually have nice things to say about new music but this is great stuff!
Thank you Bob and NPR for inviting Lydia to perform a Tiny Desk, Lydia's a hard rocker at heart but the intimate (Tiny!) setting forced her (and Todd) to restrain a bit = an AWESOME performance! COLUMBUS represent! :-)
Great stuff. Makes me think of Emmylou Harris, Stevie Nicks, and Drive-by-Truckers.

Great sound. Kinda rockabillie. Love it.
that first solo made me tear up
Beautiful!
you can kinda feel the fleetwood mac influence in this. NICE!
This small desk concert is getting a little crowded. But beautiful music.
nice vocals......very nice....good song
Excellent!
What a talent!!
WOW!. You and your band, very, very excellent! Steve Earle meets Stevie Nicks, Fuck Ya!
This is so good.
Lydia rocks!
Perfect.
November 4th 2015 Lydia Lovelace plays venue MILKBOY in Philadelphia,pa.
Sounds great! Yes I agree, reminds me of Fleetwood Mac (Christine McVie specifically) a bit. Definitely a good thing.
I just instantly became a new fan
Her cover of The Killing Moon brought me here. I dig it.
I loved that, but it seems to have been removed from youtube!
love it
this vedio channel is amazing!!!

Holy cow.
Counting crowsish... love her

Rocks
What make and model of guitar is Todd playing? It sounds fantastic.
Figured it out. Looks to be an old G&L SC2, maybe a 1983 model.
Genuine,
I wouldn't say it was a "plea." It's already happening , in the song. So.
Was the advisory REALLY necessary? Sheesh.
PBR sighting...
I notice the PBR can is still edited out from the original video, today is 8-1-17, the PBR 24 ounce was on the desk. Interesting... And I notice that my prior comment on this was deleted.
crv110 I noticed it at 10:56 in the video. I doubt it was edited out but someone just moved it around through the video.
REALLY miss Ben on stand up bass. He was such a huge part of her sound and without him she sounds like Kelly Clarkson
He left the band?
Todd May.
naturphilosophie1 lol, why are you mentioning Todd May? I love him, but that seems random as hell.
@@bryannoonan5454 Todd May the guitarist not the philosopher! Go see Lydia live they are one of the best!
I don't mean disrespect to her band,,, but this is clearly a woman held back by the larger music's industry failure to believe how great she is. Great and upsetting at the same time.

These recordings are 100% degraded, shame on you youtube. Tiny desk concerts are public treasures for all.
Hey bassist. Do less.
drums are horrible
They can be.
Man gotta snare !!!!
Love it
