Wow 👏 this just made me reinsure myself more that the tone is definitely in the hands more than anything & how hands can manipulate what comes out of the amp!! cause all speakers sound different even same brand but different year. But doesn't matter what speakers or cab can sound harsh & painful if hands & players feel can't tame the pain that comes out through speakers

I just returned 2 Celestion V30’s made in China because when buying them I was under the impression that they where made in the UK. I can’t stand the made in China Celestions they sound we to harsh/ice picky for my style and type of tone I go for. I know the made in China speakers do have there area where they shine.

I like both!! In a 1x12 maybe the uk one. In a 2x12 or 4x12 I think it would be nice to have a blend of both.

Chinese GB is harsh, Ive-pick in the ears. UK has that thick low end, present mids, and tamed, yet clear high end. If you can’t hear the difference you’re tone deaf. Not trying to offend anyone but there really is such a thing. Like those who say new tubes sound the same as NOS tubes lol. Put some Sylvanias in and then some JJs. If you can’t hear a difference then you’re definitely tone deaf.

There is a difference. The UK made have more brilliance and sounds more open. It seems to be a bit louder too. Could it be that the China made is more played and more broken in?

I have played UK greens for decades . I could here a difference but only in a side by side test . If you asked me to identify a china green in a stand alone test , I do not think I could do it .
But guitarists are stupid ,so remember that .
You can tell em this or that is rare and expensive and they will throw money at you .

I had several cabinets with Chinese or UK celestions ... all Chinese sounded too harsh / ice. The worst were my engl 4x12 pro cab with Chinese celestion v30 ... all the engl cabs sobt with Chinese celestions ... it sounded incredibly bad ... I could not correct the sound with the eq, it had nothing to do ... when I tried a mesa boogie cab a store I was really surprised I bought it immediately ... I understood when I opened the cab and saw the v30 ... I interchanged the speakers of a cab to another to see if it was the construction of the cab that made the difference and the engl had a really incredibly good sound with the mesa v30 ... same thing for the cabs that I have with the greenback ...

The more i listen the more i like the China made. It sounds warmer the UK made sounds toppier. If the UK made is from 2021 it it can’t be as much played as the Cina made. Then many things affect the sound of a speaker. How much it been played, where it’s been stored, humidity and so on. If you you grt the the mic just a few mm different it Will also affect the tone. If you compare two China made or two UK made they probably won’t sound the same either. The China made and UK made use the same material and manufacturing precess.

the speakers between the v30 uk marshall, mesa boogie and orange are all different they do not have the same voicing ... not the same materials but they are all very good ... against the standard v30 that you can buy in stores them are all the same but do not have the same materials as the uk ... celestions make unique copies for orange, mesa and marshall c edt why we can not buy them in store except to buy the cab directly ... it is certain that they don't have the same materials either

@@yannickgauvin7987 The Greenbacks made in China are made of the exact same materials, the same way and with the same machines that was shipped over to China. The difference is the factory there is geared up for mass production quantities. I got a Marshall 1960BX cab made and bought late in 2016. When i asked Celestion where the GB’s in it were made they answered i had to take the back off and check since that was the time they started making them in the UK again. I haven’t taken the back off and checked yet but the cab sounds great.
      Celestion said this:
There are a lot of things that can affect speaker’s tone, such as how long it has been played for (longevity of playing softens a cone and changes its tone). If the UK build one is this year’s then it’s going to have less playing time on it, more likely, so that will make a difference.
Environmental factors such has humidity play a large part - has the older speaker been stored somewhere damp or humid, even just for a few hours? It makes a big difference and drying it out again doesn’t restore it exactly.
Also were they miked at exactly the same position and angle? Even a difference of a couple of mm can make a huge difference.
All I can tell you Mats is that the Greenbacks built in China or in the UK use exactly the same parts and exactly the same manufacturing process. Age changes a speaker and they all age differently…
