I think he did hit it, it just took him a little longer to ramp up. He used to just pitch right there, but at the same time his vocals were a lot shakier and unstable (still brilliant though). And his Knights performance in Berlin this year was even higher than this! There were times i couldn't tell the difference between his voice and the guitar :D
Amazing that they still rock this hard after so many years. Seriously, most bands grow old or at least deteriorate in some way. No signs of that here. Muse are amazing through and through. Always did things their own way and made some incredible music along the way.
I agree that he doesn't hit the high G... he does the same in Plug In Baby most nights. I was chuffed to find Micro Cuts from Reading 2011, absolutely stunning. He hits the notes amazingly well there (probably because he wasn't worn out from a tour).
His voice is so much smoother and trained sounding than when he was younger! He still can hit those notes all these years later! However I kinda prefer the old crazy shaky voice :P brilliant either way

I'm a big Muse fan but don't let fanatism blind you, Matt couldn't hit the high notes, Micro Cuts is not as playable as it was few years ago. Muse is slowly getting old (as whatever band do) and thats a fact. But instead complaining, remember: now we have the smoother version of Matt's voice, they still probably the best live band currently, and taking fan requests at the middle of the concert is an amazing detail.
Its actually the song "freedom" from Rage Against the Machine that you hear in the end. Matt is heavily influenced by the guitar playing of Tom Morello(Rage Against the Machince)
Survival has his highest "full voice" note. Showbiz and Micro Cuts both share the highest falsetto note, a G#5. If you don't think he can hit the note in this performance of Micro Cuts (which, by the way, he does) then he certainly would not be able to hit the high note at the end of Showbiz.
