1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. Insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle; then turn the key counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.The Driver Information Center(DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). Remaining remote key fobs can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new smart key fob in the transmitter pocket with buttons facing the rear of the vehicle. The transmitter pocket is inside the center console storage area between the driver and front passenger seats. The storage area will need to be opened to access the transmitter pocket.
5. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next remote key fob.
6. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press unlock or lock on the transmitter.
To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

I bought a used 2010 SRX and was given one working key and a blank from the dealership with a business card for a guy that programs keys. Dude! I was stuck like Chuck until I watched your video! I ordered a fob from Amazon but didn’t to think to get the the door key cut and when attempting to add, I deprogrammed the original. Maybe because I didn’t exit the program menu. Either way, your video got me back on track, as I started from scratch. Opening and closing door was 🔑

I’m happy I found this video . I watched another on UA-cam and that didn’t mention the 10 minutes wait time . Not only didn’t my fob program , it erased my other fobs . I’ll get the key cut and start over using this tutorial as a guide . Thanks so much !

My 2010 Cadillac SRX key just stopped working suddenly. I only had one working key at the time as I had washed my other one and it no longer worked. I tried replacing my fob batteries and that did nothing. I then ordered a new fob from Amazon for like $25. I just used your video and it worked!! I’m shocked. I would have had to pay not only for a tow to the dealership but for all the work and new keys…. You just saved me a ridiculous amount of money! I tried several times to reprogram the new key and it would not work! But this last time I did it, when the dash was ready for key one I put it in the transmitter box and pressed start I then removed it and did the same process for keys two and three and when I got to key 4, I again inserted the key removed it pressed unlock and it worked! It recognized the new key and programmed it under number 4. I then held the start button for 10 seconds to exit programming and the key is functioning perfectly. Unlocks the doors, locks the doors, starts the car. I’m really proud of myself. Thank youuuuuuuuu!

If you have a fob with key already cut, do you have to have the second fob's key cut in order for this to work... Or can you just use the original key?
My original fib stopped working. Bought a knock off (without. Caddie logo) and did these steps and it worked... But after some time, less than 6 ish months, it stopped working. I was told it had to be a "Caddie" key (OEM) called the dealership and about died at their price. Found one and it had the Caddie logo on the backside. Key is obviously not already cut. I still have my original key and want to try again.. But you're the only one that's said the key needs to be cut first. Is that if you no longer have a cut key? Or will it not program correctly with the key the new fob did not come with?

So we have one that works perfectly.. We bought a second fob for our 2011 SRX.. Is there any extra needed steps required to get both programmed? Again, we already have a working fob, just like to program the second one as well.. Thanks..
You will need to re-program your original fob during the procedure. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original fob after the new one

My car battery suddenly and completely died. Replaced the battery and the car would not start. Remote would work door locks and trunk hatch. I skipped to your last step and held the start button for 12 seconds and that did the trick! Thx

What would I do differently for a second key fob? Would I do the process entirely until it says Fob 1, and there will be an option to change it to Fob 2?

I wonder if the same programming applies to an aftermarket replacement key
This helped me so much! I was able to put a new battery in and reprogram my key fob. However, my car still won't start unless my key fob is in the transmitter pocket. The remote works but I cannot press the little button on my door knob and open the door either. Any advice??? Thank you so much! Kellea

If you already have a working fob but lost the second one, do you use the same procedures? I bought a new replacement for a 2013 SRX, the design is a bit different. I've seen for 2013's videos showing you put the fobs in the cup holder to program. Do you have to do both fobs during the steps above to make sure they both are programmed and work? Some directions say that this only programs lock and unlock but you have to go to a dealership or pro to program to start the car. Thanks for the video!
Yes, you can use the same procedure. The fobs go in the center console like the diagram in the video shows ( that diagram is from the owners manual ) and the car will start once programmed. If you look at the steps in the description box, you just repeat steps 4-6 for each fob. You will need the working fob far enough away from the vehicle so it cant be read, to get the vehicle into programming mode.

I change eco so do I program my original fob the same way
I followed your directions and it worked great, however, now my FOB that did work doesn't anymore. I assume it gave the other one a new code and now the old one needed that same code. Should I just redo it and when is says program another key, put that one in and do the same thing?
You need to program all the fobs you want to work with the vehicle during the procedure. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for the second remote after the new is programmed.
i have the original key cut in hand, Is it will be fit if i just buy new key fob from amazon and programmed it like you did?

What do you mean by "buttons facing the rear"? The way the srx remote is made if the buttons faced the rear of the vehicle you would have to stand it on end. I am guessing that I misunderstood. (Planning ahead to do this when my spare fob comes in the mail)
The backup slot changes a little depending on the year, what year is your SRX?

Programmed 2 new remotes , doors lock , unlock , remote start works . Start car with remote start , unlock door and get in , put foot on brake and push the start button... NO REMOTE DETECTED comes up on dash !! In case of a program mistake.....can these two remotes be reprogrammed again using the same process ? Thanks for the help !
Yes, they can be re-programmed to the same vehicle. Typically though remotes don't act that way - they either program in or not - rather than a mistake causing them to not work properly.

The remote portion and the "key" portion should program at the same time. It sounds like there may be an issue with the fob you are using.
The same thing happened to me. The difference is I had the working factory fob with me when I tried programming the 2nd one. I followed everything, but the second one doesn’t work at all and now the factory buttons work but now the car won’t start with or without either remote. Please help 😢

Is there a way to get a key cut without a previous key to go off of. My sister lost the emergency key out of the fob and lost the other fob. I'm trying to solve this problem for here a cheaply as possible.
Dealerships and some automotive locksmith can cut a new key by code
probably a dumb question, but why couldn’t I use my original key 5x in the door for the first step? it should be identical to the new one, shouldn’t it?
You can do that if you still have your existing emergency key

I think its very unlikely all 3 remotes would die at the same time unless they were submerged in water or damaged in some way. I would lean more towards an issue with the vehicle.

Yes, I have the original ! I tried your steps some parts worked as far as what it should read on the dash. Like the turn key 5 times after 10 minutes the dash isn't lit. Then I open the door the alarm goes off! Then when I finally got it to start with the old key again it said "theft attempted "🤦🏾♀️🤣
It sound like the alarm was armed before the door was opened - try unlocking the vehicle with the working fob before attempting the procedure. Also, since you have already have 1 working fob there is actually a similar but shorter procedure you can use. Unfortunately you can't flash the remotes without the correct hardware and software.
I have one good fob. I got another fob from someone on ebay, can i program it uding my good fob? Or is it locked to their srx? The only way to program one is a brand new fob never programmed?
If the fob is used then it will need to have been unlocked or "flashed" in order to be used again.

One day I got that message on the dash no remote detected, so I found the quick way to start the car n get home by putting the remote in the center console. well I replaced the battery n nothing. when I found your video I followed it to a T but no luck I've done it 3x now n still nothing, any other ideas besides the CAR DEALER ? Are you sure you installed the new remote battery correctly? ( not upside down ) It sounds simple but that happens a lot. If the battery is installed correctly then you may need to have the vehicle looked at.

You can try but it should not need to be re-programmed after changing the battery.

It sounds like the fob may need a new battery.
I replaced the battery in my remote as well as the car battery on a 2013 SRX. It is saying no remote detected. Will this work to reprogram the remote that I've been using? or does it need to be a brand new remote that hasn't been programmed previously?
In this case you can use the same remote since it has already been programmed to the vehicle. Even if you were to erase the remote from the vehicle, the remote will be "locked" to that vehicle unless the remote is "flashed". Replacing the batteries in either the car or the remote does not usually reset the remote, so you may have other issues with the remote or car themselves.

I have a used 2013 srx only 6 weeks, and after sitting a few days (temps dropped in my state during those days) I went to get in and go to the store and it said remote not detected. I UA-camd put the remote in the transmitter area, and though it doesn’t say remote not detected anymore the engine still will not crank or turn over it only goes in to accessory mode. Battery in the car shows fully charged. I changed the batteries on the key fobs, thinking it may help.. so now both are fully charged and it still won’t crank over. It still shows remote not detected either unless I put it in the transmitter area. The key fob locks and unlocks the car. It will even turn it on over to accessory mode remotely while I have it in my hand but it won’t crank the engine. I am freaking out It’s Christmas and my vehicle won’t work and I’m broke. I spent $10k cash on the vehicle and I was able to get a warranty atleast. Idk what more I can do 😔

If the vehicle is going into programming mode but not responding to the remote, there may be an issue with the remote you are using.

How do you get your vehicle out of key programming mode. Mine was programming the key and it won't do anything now. Its been over an hour. The dash won't light up and the locks won't engage, they just click. Panic works.
holding down the stop/start button for 12 seconds should allow you to exit programming mode
Did holding the start stop button work for you? Because my car is doing the same now and holding the button is doing nothing. Now dash has no message either

it sounds like you already have a working key so you can skip ahead - skip to the 4:01 mark of the video

You can use this procedure to program an additional fob, you will just need to re-program your working fob during the procedure as it will be erased.

These remotes lock once programmed to a vehicles but they can be re-programmed to the same vehicle. Another thing to check is to make sure the new battery is installed correctly (not upside down)
I did all the steps...when it got to the end of the steps it says ready for remote 1...I do all the steps afterwards and it keeps saying "No Remote Detected" what can this be? help please.

You could've saved me 30 minutes by just telling me i could've put the original car key in the cup holder while twisting the key five times in the door and it would've went straight to ready for remote 2.

Did not work for me now my original remote that came with the car will not work! I also cannot get it out of learning mode!
This procedure will erase all previous remotes and they will need to be re-programmed. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each remote, after the first remote is programmed. Secondly, If you are holding down the step/start button your SRX will not exit programming mode, you may have a problem with the vehicle itself.

Your video just saved from killing somebody. Have a customers 2011 SRX that they wanted an extra key. Ordered one, and while trying to program as per another video, it wouldn't work. would go into program mode but after putting transponder in center console slot and pushing ignition button, nothing would happen. tried calling the remote company. the gave me instructions for programming also. the same instructions. i told them i tried it, it doesn't work. they had me open the oem remote and get the part number. it's the compatible remote, so should work. they told me to remove the battery in the new remote for 15min to reset the transponder. did that still no good. disconnected battery to reset transponder module, still no good. watched your video( now wasn't sure if the new key cutting was the issue. i didn't have the new key cut, and according to everyone else you didn't need to. mind you even in owners manual it said to place the recognized transponder in the cupholder and insert the "new" key in the door) so thought maybe that was causing a problem. after watching the rest of your video first, I noticed you said have the buttons facing the back. the other video and the manufacturer said buttons forward(which i was doing). tried one more time with buttons facing backwards, and Voila! the cluster said it programmed. Some vehicles don't illuminate the message on the dash ( that's why I kept opening and closing the door in the video ) You might try just continuing with the procedure.
