Thanks for your work, mate. Nice tips, clear explanations, straightforward approach. I think your channel deserves much more attention. I will help as I can.
It's really a good thing for my music production. I don't have to take the samples again from the sample pack to open the new project while I use my own made template. and that's good point to ease your music production
Hi. I mostly dabble with music creation (I can't read music or play an instrument). However, I have created some nice things in FL studio. Your tutorials have very much helped me navigate the complex world of Channels, VSTs, etc. II appreciate the effort you put into them. Thank you.
I opened so many new projects and allways was like "damn, I wish I could have my own template". And yes, my small brain never thought about looking for this kind of tutorial. GG thx for the tutorial.
I’ve been using templates for years, but recently I just went back to just a blank default FL studio. The reason is for me that I find that I’m more creative this way. Whereas a template mold you into a certain way of doing things. I’m not saying they’re bad. I’m just saying for me I went back to just blank stuff because it was just way more creative for me to do it that way albeit not as fast
I've decided I'm gonna go all-out with this, even add placeholder kick and hat samples etc. already in a mixer channel, already routed through bus channels. Can't believe I neglected this, just gotta consider what's close enough to universal so there's no extra CPU usage. Might even get a 2nd template for when I do sound-design sessions or resample bouncing stuff that really wants separate projects, especially if it involves bpm automation etc. I'm curious what people think... I've got 1-10, 11-20 etc. set up as predefined submixes until 100, then I have 101-110 marked black as a flex submix, and 111-115 white as flex channels to help in case a submix doesn't suffice, which can be moved around easily to suit a project. 116-120 are docked to the right just like send channels used to be, 121-125 docked to the left as big bus channels, one is set by default to receive both the channel that usually takes chords etc. and the one that takes bass, I often automate a low-pass on both of those together etc. Each section is further organized as such: 1/2/3 is what instruments etc. will be set to (Named 1 Source, 2 Source, 3 Source), those go into 4 to affect them together (Sub), that's sent to 5/6/7 (Split) where I can do things like multiband processing or isolated reverb, then those go into 10 (Bus), leaving 8 and 9 (Flex) not routed anywhere, completely flexible and can be suplemented with 101-125. I put the number in the name just so it's really quick to see what's what in the playlist etc. Then I've also got my instruments etc. separated by layers that coordinate the color with the mixer, flex space at the bottom. Layers already set up to play multiple instruments at once when it comes to tonal elements, even if I might not want that the organization is nice, all but one instrument per actually functional layer muted by default. (Using the slider, so I can ctrl click the green light without making these audible) Also, I set it to compact display, and have separators between the different kinds of channel strips, the sources together, the sub on it's own, splits together, flexes together, and then the bus on it's own, all sharing a color. Maybe I'll get rid of the ones between sources and sub since the text makes it really clear already.
I definitly need to create one myself since I use a lot of automation and also my Plugins creates my Impacts and Sweeps/Risers (Devious Machine Plugins and Effect Automation can help to avoid using generic sweeps etc) but also I'm not a fan of unique arrangments anyways
Hey Eirik mate, another great tutorial..I've learned how you can drag a vst in your mixing channel; I didn't knew that was possible, so thanks a lot man :-) I'll write you an e-mail soon !
Yes, the next tutorial in my "how to mix" series is probably going to be about compression. It will cover everything from how a compressor works (what it really does) and how and when to use it in a track. :)
Hi mate, i wonder if you can help me...someome sent me a template in a folder and everytime i go to save it it wont show up in the template list. I did what you did by adding the folder in the template list and then close it and then go into fl studio template list but can not see it. what am i doing wrong???
Are you using the newest version of FL Studio? They made changes to the default "folder" in the newer versions, so it's possible that you've placed a project in the old folder. Go to options, then "file" and check that you've put the FLP in the correct folder in the user data folder.
I do have a tutorial about how to layer leads. It also shows how to make a leads submix, and what kind of processing you can use on it. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/UqPqM5rUuVo/v-deo.html
Thanks. It's a workaround in order to record midi generated by a plugin such as the Komplete Kontrol for example, and then getting that midi as notes inside the piano roll of another plugin. This was not possible to do in earlier versions of FL Studio, so you had to use loop midi in order to capture the midi generated, and then route it back into FL Studio. However, they fixed this in one of the later versions, so now you can use the "burn midi" feature to do it instead. I have a video about that here: ua-cam.com/video/FpZaLXbN4_0/v-deo.html
That's a great tip! A good example of how a template can save lots and lots of time. Even if people doesn't use traditional sidechain, they will still save a lot of time by just having lfotool, kickstart, grossbeat or whatever already loaded and ready to go. :)
Hi, in the newer versions of FL Studio your files will be located in a separate data folder. Here's a video showing how to find it: ua-cam.com/video/9n3C-EkzYmY/v-deo.html
You can save projects in the demo mode but you won't be able to open them again until you buy the full version. This means that you will be able to save a template, but you'll have to buy it in order to open it again.
I don't recommend using pre-made templates from someone else. If you start out using a template made by someone else every time, then you will have a harder time finding your own "sound" so to speak. I think it's better to find a workflow that works for you, and when you find it, you can set up a template that revolves around that particular workflow, in order to speed it up. :) The template don't have to be advanced. It can be just a few instruments, or just coloring and such in the mixer. Things you normally do every time anyways. :)
A template will depend heavily on what kind of genre you produce etc. A trance template won't work for a house track and so on. I am planning on making some full projects to make available for my followers (as soon as I get the time). it won't he a "starting" template, but more like a template that can be downloaded and studied in order to understand how to build up a track etc. :)
this will be more effective for me to get into it,because i am using fl studio from a year ago i am still struggling how to make music since i haven't finish a single track yet please brother help
I will try to make a "how to finish a song" kind of tutorial soon. With some tips and tricks on how to do that. The best advice I can give you is: Don't fight against your daw. Try to use it as a toolbox. Listen to a lot of music you like. Write down on paper where things happen. How long is the intro? How are the bridges created? when does the verse start? when does the drop start? what happens where. What makes it work? Then try to recreate the structure. Always try to finish your tracks, even if they sound like crap. It's the best way to learn. Eventually, your tracks will be amazing. :)
I'm not quite sure what you mean? You can resize the windows by clicking the upper left corner and select "detatched". That way you will be able to resize the windows. If you need to rescale everything, you can do that from the global options.
I totally understand. The video is intended for beginners who don't even know that they can make a template, or why they should, so I wanted to include a little bit about why it might be a good idea. You can just skip ahead to see the exact procedure :)
Not being funny, but 85% of this video was irrelevant. Everyone knows what they need to add to a project. All we needed to know was where to save it and how to set the 'auto start up' option which you didn't even cover.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. This video was intended for beginners who don't know what a template is, or why they should use one. It's an older video and it's quite possible that I used to include a little bit too much "why" vs the "how" in my earlier videos. It's a continuous learning process, and I'm still working hard to make my videos as relevant as possible.

Hey how did you get pattern slider in fl 12 ????
Hey can u do a video on how to do live automations
Sure! I will try to make a tutorial about that in the next video, or the one after that. :)
How do I add a description and icon to the template?

Thank you :)
hey firewalk i am looking for quick and easy vocal mixing in fl studio could you please work on it

can you template in fl studio demo?
You can save projects in the demo mode but you won't be able to open them again until you buy the full version. This means that you will be able to save a template, but you'll have to buy it in order to open it again.
It's expensive :(
Somehow this 'new from template' dropdownmenu doesn't show up on my FL Studio 12...does anyone know how to solve this problem?
do you have any free template to start with ?
