⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 That was a sixteen year old Su at that Budokan Black night concert. 'Rondo of Nightmare'" had it's world premiere the night before at the Red Night show. Her voice has only improved in the eight years since. It's easily in my top ten BABYMETAL songs. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. The two younger members, Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) performed two songs without Su. And there were ten songs with all three members on stage. That Black Night Budokan concert from March 2nd, 2014 is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL shows of all time. I love the staging, but Su's vocal performance of this song at Wembley Arena two years later is even better.
Another excellent reaction, thank you (and if you feel tempted to do more BABYMETAL reactions you'll have a guaranteed audience). Yes Su-metal is a superstar - now consider she was only just 16 and she only debuted this song the night before. The whole concept was formed and developed around her vocal talents and exceptional stage presence. This was at the Budokan in Tokyo (think Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden for how prestigious this is to Japanese artists as a venue). BABYMETAL were releasing their first album with these shows, they were the youngest ever average age female band to headline there (Su was 16, Yui and Moa were still only 14) and they sold it out two nights running. There are many different aspects of BABYMETAL, Su-metal's solos are just one of them and they tend to be the more "straight" metal songs. You will also come across Black BABYMETAL - that is Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duo without Su and their songs tend to be even heavier instrumentally, but that is contrasted by their sweet and child-like vocals. What makes BABYMETAL really stand out (and unique) is when you get all three girls performing. When you do watch more songs and performances don't make the mistake of thinking Yui and Moa are just dancers and backing vocals. Watch what they do and listen to their lines, their role is essential in making BABYMETAL what they are. Their choreo isn't just taken from the grab-bag of dance moves used by most western and other pop artists who have dancers mincing round the stage to give you something to watch. They work with one of Japan's best choreographers and their choreo is bespoke for each song, helping to interpret the meaning of the lyrics or the feel of the song, but more importantly they provide the link between the band and the audience. When they jump, pump their fists or make a certain move the audience follows their lead, they let the audience know what to do and when and it is their lines in songs that the audience will sing along with and join in to become part of the performance. The staging and production at the Budokan in 2014 was amazing ... but this was just the start in essence, these were the first big shows they did with the Kami Band playing the whole time. Before this the Kami Band, if they were there at all, would only come on for the encores - the Budokan shows marked BABYMETAL striking out in their own right and their first world tour was only announced at the end of the second night. The production of their big arena shows in Japan has just got more spectacular each time they've played with each show topping the last - but they don't need that to put on great shows. They put every bit as much effort and energy into their shows in smaller venues where there may not be the possibility for pyro, moving stages and so on. The Kami Band, as you rightly said, are all world class musicians, but even they have said BABYMETAL is the hardest job they've had as the standards are so high and they have to always be at their best to match the professionalism, the hard work and the high standards of the girls themselves. I really hope we will get to see your reactions to more BABYMETAL songs and performances - and if that doesn't happen hearing what you thought of other songs, the other aspects of what BABYMETAL do etc would be very interesting. There is a very good guide "Everything you need to know about BABYMETAL" made by CrypticMisery that I think you would also find both interesting and entertaining (and we will watch reactions to that as well - even though it is over 40 minutes long).
@Grington300 300 - I glad to see you kept to 500 words +/- Though I know most of this, I always readi your comments for additional tidbits of information.
So if you're gonna binge, I'd very much recommend finding a full concert. A HUGE part of their magic is how they manage to build the energy up from song to song over the course of a performance. They give everything they've got from the second the curtain drops to the very last note and by the end you're completely hypnotized and completely exhausted for them. Also, don't sweat the language thing. The stage work, choreo and vocal tone is all designed to get you 90% of the way there as far as the song meanings, but it might take a couple of viewings of any particular song to get everything out if it.
Thanks for doing an other reaction, Babymetal actually had 2 Babymetal custom guitars with ESP, you could order the first one was also available in a smaller size. 3:45 at least this guitarist, Ohmura, has least one 1 ESP custom guitars as well you can order. 4:27 actually bassist BOH is a great fan of Billy Sheehan, Billy is who he looked up to when he started playing 6 string bass. Billy and BOH have even performed at this same famous venue in Japan that is shown in the video together ones ! What is maybe the amazing to me... at this show she was 16 years old, performing at the venue she dreamed off one day performing. Babymetal had 2 sold out shows at the Budokan back to back (Red Night and Black Night). Budokan is the 'Madison Square Garden of Japan', it's actually a marital arts venue. Build for the Olympics of 1964 (specifically Judo if I'm not mistaken). What would you do if you've already reached your life goal at age 16 ? Well, Babymetal announced their first World Tour at the end of the second night. The other girls were still 14, so Babymetal holds the record of youngest female act to perform at Budokan. Funny you mentioned Dragonforce, because Babymetal has a song called Road of Resistance which has a feature: the guitar parts were written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce ! Rondo of Nightmare maybe best fits progressive metal, but the most progressive song from Babymetal is: Tales of the Destinies. It's clearly Dream Theater inspired.
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 because they are session musicians and they end up playing for a lot of different people the guys really love working with Babymetal they get to play it loud and proud. Unlike some of the other work they do. They instead get to go on world tour and visit metal festivals, etc. Boh and Sheenan met at a festival in 2014 where Babymetal performed. I joke Babymetal is sometimes called 'idol metal' (because the girls have an 'idol' background) and their is an other way you could explain that name: the guys involved in Babymetal get to meet all their favorite metal/musicians idols at the festivals, etc. because of touring with Babymetal. 🙂
Enjoyed the reaction. I subscribed solely for the purpose of watching you plunge headfirst down the foxhole! I will guarantee you’ll enjoy every second. Lol
I really envy you dude....really!! Just starting out with Babymetal...I know what you are about to experience....and its really Fantastic!! Have fun finding out how deep the Fox Hole goes!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Su was 16 here. Watch the Akatsuki live Budokan 2021 - you'll see how Sumetal improved even more. And to see the other side of the group: Songs like 'Catch Me If You Can', and 'Yava!' are on the fun side. 'Megitsune' is BM classic, with traditional Japanese elements 'Sis Anger', or 'GJ' are heavier songs (instrumentally) but are performed by Moa and Yui (while Su rests during long sets) 'Karate', and 'Syncopation' are more of modern metal sound (metalcore, djent) 'BxMxC', 'PA PA YA', for their more mature, and recent pieces. They are from the latest album. and 'Road of Resistance' is what I consider their most epic song overall, where all their talents - singing, choreography, instrumentation, crowd control - are fully displayed. Must watch the live in Japan version. What I like about Babymetal is, they have a incredible range of sound, so almost all of their songs are recommended to listen to, as they sound way different from one another. You can never go wrong. Also, always go for live performances, as that is where they thrive - they really put so much effort in their production. p.s. After watching the above mentioned songs, go watch the music video 'Doki Doki Morning', their very first single and music video - so you can see where they started, and appreciate how they evolved.
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Definitely follow Bon S's suggestion about going back to watch Doki Doki Morning, BM's very first video, after you've had a few more listens to BM, you'll get whole new feelings, sense and love for BABYMETAL. 🤘🤘🤘
Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) was groomed in the school themed jpop idol group Sakura Gakuin (where Babymetal was created as a subgroup) to be a 'superlady'. And she achieved that status before she even "graduated" from the group when she turned 15 years old.
Great reaction! Hope to see you react to more Babymetal. 😊 there are so many amazing songs waiting for you. I recommend "Amore" or "Arkadia". "Amore" is also a Su-metal solo song, where the other two gets a break and "Arkadia" is from their latest album, and just an amazing song. Babymetal Reactors Resource has a version with lyrics. Kitsunes up! 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Arkadia is part of a trilogy of songs, recommended to watch them in order and not off on its own. Starlight Shine Arkadia You can of course do it how you like but thats the order.
Great & Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have heard this song. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.
Dragonforce times ten? Take the "Road of Resistance" challenge. Hideki Aoyama doesn't think you can handle it. Thanks for the reaction. Fun stuff. Enjoy your ride. The Foxhole is deep. Kitsune up!
Welcome back to the Babymetal "foxhole". Some people have said that, BOH, bass player, has small hands, but I think it's more just the width of the 6 string neck they are noticing. Here we get The Kami Band doing the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro with Aoyama Hideki (drums), BOH (6 string bass), Takayoshi Ohmura (7 string gold guitar), Leda Cygnus (blue guitar). They are dressed as spirits of the dead which is significant in BM lore, but let's concentrate on the music for now. RON is one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give the other two girls, Moa and Yui, a chance to rest. This concert is Budokan Black Night in 2014 so Su was just 16 years old. I'm always tempted to recommend more BM songs, but this time I'm also going to request that you don't react to a song because you are noticing lots about the structure of the music and this particular song has "lots of music"- don't listen to "Tales of the Destinies" yet, work up to it, and yes, that was meant to intrigue you. Maybe listen to "Road of Resistance Live in japan" or "Headbanger Legend 1997". RON is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution: (translation thanks to du-metal). It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness. Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends. If you want DragonForce listen to "Road of Resistance Live in Japan".
Great reaction and discussion, and I cannot blame you for wanting "plow through" the library. I do hope that you fire a few more Babymetal reactions! I would suggest "Tales of the Destinies" there is only one complete live version, and some compilations of varying quality....but the studio track is well worth listening too. Babymetal is almost always best live (like you have not heard that before)!
If you think after a few songs they are 'out there and crazy' then you have a treat in store! BM brought me back to 'current' music after deciding a few decades back that I was perfectly happy sticking to what I knew and liked. They kicked open a few doors I didn't even knew existed, far less that I should venture into them. All in one band, and only 3 albums. There are a few BM songs I'm not really keen on. I also have a few songs I have grown bored of. Some change from day to day, mood to mood. But I estimate that I have listed to these 3 (three!) albums for over 6000 hours. Not intensely, of course. But it has just become a part of my life. Because each and every song is worth some thought and attention. A gold mine for a reactor. Enjoy your journey in the foxhole.
Excellent reaction, bravo! This is definitely one of my favorite Babymetal performances, but there are some that are even better and many that are close to on par with it. I can't say I blame you for wanting to binge their back catalog, though I'll be sad to not get to experience that journey with you. If you want to watch a full concert, my top picks are Metrock 2015 (aka Tokyo Metropolitan Rock Festival 2015), New Year Fox Festival (aka Legend 2015), and their two back-to-back nights at the Tokyo Dome where they played all the songs from their first two albums. Absolutely incredible shows, though unfortunately none of them available on youtube. If you're on discord, come join the fan server - just click 'add a server', then 'join a server', and type 'babymetal' (no quotes) into the invite link field. The people in the #babymetal-reactions channel will be happy to help you out. If you're not on discord, the r/BABYMETAL subreddit could be helpful too. If you _do_ want to do more reactions on youtube, I'd suggest checking out the last three songs from the Legend 1997 show - Headbanger, Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.), and Babymetal Death. You actually haven't seen what Babymetal have been for the majority of their history yet, and Headbanger is a great intro to that. Akatstuki is another solo for Su, the lead singer, and the 'Unfinished version' is an acoustic arrangment of it that's very emotional. Then to round it out, Babymetal Death is a stage show the likes of which I've never seen any other band do. It has to be seen to believed! I'll leave some links to the best-quality uploads of each of those in a reply so you can react to them or check them out on your own. Cheers!
Glad you liked, but you haven't really seen anything yet. You haven't even seen a performance with all three original members! For that, I think a good intro would be _"Road of Resistance",_ live in Japan. It's written as an homage to DragonForce, and they even had Totman and Li play the guitars on the studio version. If you want something a bit more challenging, maybe try _"Tales of the Destinies",_ where they go full prog. That one is an homage to Dream Theater, or more specifically, a tribute to _"The Dance of Eternity"._ As you continue to explore Babymetal, please try to keep an open mind. You will come across many songs that are more polarizing than the ones you've heard so far, but don't put your guard up right away. Give it a chance. They were very, very young when they started, but the quality of the music is undeniable. And dude, don't watch any of this stuff without us! Record everything. I'm pretty sure the Babymetal fans would watch a 5 hour video of you just going through the entire catalogue :-)
"The waning moon shines bright but there's a gloom of rampant madness. I hear laughter all around. It bares it's fangs and it's eyes gleam. There's no escape. It flickers slowly, appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmarish rondo keeps repeating. The light of dawn is so far away I have no choice but to run through the darkness." Hey Classic Rock Guy! Good reaction! Rondo of Nightmare is a song where Su-metal (lead singer) is being chased by... something. We don't know what it is and we never really find out, however when Su puts her head down and sings softly she's pleading with... whatever it is... to at least show itself before she perishes. This live version of Rondo of Nightmare is often suggested to newcomers to Babymetal because, as you saw, the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro showcases the band members. The band is called the "Kami Band". Kami in Japanese means "God" or "Spirit", and the band members are supposed to portray the spiritual incarnations of their respective instruments. Of course, the Japanese love a good pun: "kami" also means "hair", so whether you consider them the "God Band" or the "Hair Band" I'll leave to you! Rondo of Nightmare is actually one of Babymetal's least played songs, so if you liked this I'm sure you will like many more of their tracks. Always look for live versions if you can as the group considers themselves performers first over being recording artists.
If you want to check out a concert 'Metrock 2015' is only 38 minutes long. It was about a year later than Budokan. It's daytime at a festival so there is no production. But the crowd is fantastic and they have great shots of the crowd. If you want to see the best production then either Tokyo Dome or Legend S. On the reddit there is a spreadsheet with all the concerts. Budokan Black Night is great all around. Or Yokohama 2015. Anything between 2014 and 2018 is fantastic. Or Wembley since it sounds like you're in the UK. Legend of 1997 was for Su's 16th birthday and they do special performances. But it is very early and the Kami Band was just getting started. The first half of the concert is recorded music. It's great also but the music is not at the level of quality of later shows. But it has really cool stage shows and special songs. The stage show at the end is IMO their second best ever. The best being the opening stage show for Legend S for her 20th birthday in her home province of Hiroshima.
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 if you want to see a very very early performance this is their third ever performance and the first time they did a full song. It's their humble beginnings. ua-cam.com/video/XeDgyu9EuwE/v-deo.html Somehow in my opinion it's both awful and great. You can see how far they've come but at the same time somehow how great they already were.
Alright mate, that was fantastic. Glad you enjoyed one of the four SuMetal solos, and personally my favorite along with "Akatsuki". Nothing left to say, you know the business and what you're talking about, and you already got plenty of info about this song in the comments. Funny you mentioned Billy Sheehan, BOH the bassist admire him. Is the first time i hear someone comparing this with Within Temptation, I love that band and met them way before BabyMetal ❤️ Be sure to not missed other Kami Band intros, there are rare so i will mention the songs you can find with those intros: _"Catch Me If You Can"_ live at Budokan 2014 (I already told you where to find that one), the same live concert you saw here _"YAVA!"_ live at Big Fox Festival 2017 (you can find this one at Babymetal Reactor Resource channel following the links bc isn't upload on YT, I think) _"Kagerou"_ this is the only one with the West Kami Band live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020. There's another prestigious guitarist who sadly past away and is not here in this concert but you will see him on another, Mikio Fujioka, he left us in 2018, dark times because it was the same year YuiMetal left the group. You can also find Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka-sama exhibition at ESP Guitar US and Japan channel, yep they're top world class elite musicians, why not. What you read is "Stairway To Living Legend" and that phrase came out kinda recently when the 10 BM years was about to come, this is from 2014 and our queen SuMetal was just recently become a goddess queen during Legend 1997 in 2013. Later, October 2021, a BM song new version of long time loved and dedicated for the fans was released as _"The One - Stairway To Living Legend"_ but that one isn't metal at all, is a piano ballad version, very lovely either way. And lastly, you mentioned Megadeth, Marty Friedman know the girls, he's living in Japan since a very long time ago, and there's an interview you can find with them, Marty and BabyMetal. The "Foxhole" is what us, the fans, called the ride into BM songs and wild journey, instead of the usual "rabbit hole", because in BM lore, the Fox God (or Kitsune-sama) send the girls and band to save the world with the metal sound, talking about rabbit... this song first tempting title was "Kill The Alice", yep, is a reference to that. Waiting for more and I'll be here to enjoy your Foxhole ride. May the Fox God bless you 🦊🤘
Glad you liked it Rondo is my favorite song as well. If you want the power of Su”s voice No Rain No Rainbow from her home town Hiroshima will get you there.
The fearlessness of Su-metal. Think about that, she is on a platform 2 meters wide 2 meters up, without any safety equipment. Lights on her face, there is no chance that she can see where she is standing. It's okay if you stand still, but she takes some dance moves and then there are the thing with your mind, it's playing with you when you know you are on an elevated platform. AND the night before, Yuimetal fell of the stage (not this elevated platform though) so she must have had that in her mind too.
Great reaction and you seem to be a quality human being. In my (50 year old classic rock enthusiast) opinion their actual Tour De Force "Stairway" song is called Tales of the Destinies (which is pure prog metal and also my favourite), if you want to check that out at some time, but please, we want to see you react to more Babymetal, so don't binge on your own.
Nice reaction. Glad you enjoyed the intro. The kamiband gets lots of love from the Babymetal fans. Folks who don't really know Babymetal feel they get over shadowed by the ladies but in truth the fans really know how great those guys are. The Bass player Boh has said he would rather play with Babymetal than anyone else. Being older than the ladies the guys have said if it wasn't for Babymetal they would never have had the exposer that they have now. And thanked Babymetal for the getting to tour the world with them. You just got to watch one of Babymetals darkest songs. The Kawaii was thrown out the window for this song. Su tries to add a little kawaii to it with the dancing she does. But the song is just too spooky for it. Instead, it seems to add to the darkness of it all. Have fun journeying through the Babymetal galaxy of music.
Great reaction. You won't have to look to hard to find other great Babymetal songs. You will have a wide choice of genres as well, from death metal, EDM, rap/trap/dubstep, Celtic folk, Bollywood, Latin, prog, djent (I could go on) influenced metal. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 If you haven't already, watch Babymetal Death from their Legend 1997 concert. Two 15yo and a 16yo girl Celebrating Su's Birthday in a non-standard way.
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 That's one of the things that I really enjoy with this group, just how big their range of songs are. The only other group I can think of that does that is Ween.
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 They're an older group, but one I listened to about 20 years ago or so. If you like Babymetal you might like a Mongolian band called The Hu. Song of Woman features Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, it's a great song, but Wolf Totem is probably my favourite. Band-Maid is another good Japanese group too.
So happy you loved this one! Truly a great example of what everyone in BABYMETAL can do! I know you said you are going to go through their catalogue which is fantastic but I wanted to make one more recommendation, another good one to react to is YAVA at the Big Fox Festival. The song itself is great but different, like a Ska/Metal combo, However I recommend it because it too has another super awesome band solo. Enjoy!
Enjoy reactions from people, such as you, who has extensive musical knowledge. I've learned to appreciate music more each time. This is 16 yo Su-metal on the raised platform. Her ability to emote feelings, even for those of us that don't fully understand Japanese, only improved as she matured. Others will provide greater details on the song and performance. For heavy metal, Babymetal Death, Legend 1997. ua-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/v-deo.html The performance is celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday. David Heretic, a professional musician, melted down four times during his review. (recommend you check the comments for the translation of the opening, it will help understand the performance.) [Not their heaviest song] Oh! #notacult #possiblyacult You mentioned Dragonforce times 10, then I recommend Road of Resistance, Live in Tokyo ua-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/v-deo.html Dragonforce was involved with the song. The Kami Band's musicianship is amazing (hard and fast). You'll also witness Babymetal's ability to control a crowd. The girls are very young at the time (Su 17, Yui & Moa 15) and tiny only 5 feet tall +/-. It is Babymetal's battle anthem, it's about forging your own path despite the obstacles, which is how BM became so successful. [BTW Dave Heretic chocked up three times during his review.] [Note: always watch Babymetal videos until the end, the show is not over even when the singing stops. Also these two videos may get blocked by Amuse, so take precautions]

Late to the party but if you're going to binge outside of reactions, make sure to watch Blu-Ray concerts. I'd recommend anything between 2015 and 2017 personally as I think this era would be quintessential BABYMETAL. Also, maybe a lot to ask, but the BM community loves a watch-along. Intros are very common with them - especially the older stuff. And Suzuka - to perform like that at such an age is amazing - considering she's not much more than 5ft I'm even imoressed by her up on thet small stage with very dark lighting often. The band is brutally good - goes without saying really, but so's the whole tream around babymetal.
The "foxhole" is so called because because of the Babymetal backstory and references to the Fox God. You need have no concerns about any of the terms and such that may be used in conjunction with Babymetal. While the remaining members are both attractive young women, there is never anything sexual about Babymetal. Not their lyrics, not their costumes, not their dancing. Generally speaking, it's actually pretty innocent.
Babymetal has done a few collabs with other singers. Rob Halford - Painkiller and Breaking the Law, F Hero - Pa Pa Ya, Bring Me the Horizon - Kingslayer, and Joakim Broden - Oh! Majinai are the ones I know of. Another Japanese band you may like is the Wagakki Band. They mix classical and modern with their choice of instruments. It should be the first one to come up when you search, but I recommend Homura + Akatsuki no Ito / 1st Japan tour 2015 . Each member gets their own solo as they are introduced at the start. They have done a collab with Amy Lee on Bring Me to Life and another song.
Boh, the bassist is probably up there with the best bassists. All the band are class session musicians. Japan always aims for perfection in most things they do. 🦊💥🦊
This is a fantastic song, definitely top 3 for me, but my absolute favourite song of all time, not just Babymetal, is Akatsuki. It's the perfect song imo, and this is my favourite performance of that song: ua-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/v-deo.html
Great reaction once again! I hope you will let us take part in the rest of your journey. It would be interesting to see how you react to the rest of their catalogue. Both of the songs you have seen so far are songs I would expect to appeal to the "average" Metal fan. But there's a lot of much more playful and poppy stuff in their catalogue. If someone had said that to me before I got to know them, I would probably have taken it as a bad thing, but it absolutely isn't. They are weaving all of it so perfectly into the Metal, it's absolutely baffling and refreshingly unique. And the other elements they add like the dancing, the crowd interaction and the smiles take the entertainment value to levels I have never seen anywhere else. There are two suggestions I'd like to make: Since you mentioned the high standard of the performance, you might be suprised to learn that that's even taken up a notch with "Road of Resistance" live in Japan. It's another one of the more "standard" Metal songs (with contributions from Dragonforce), but the performance puts pretty much every other band to shame. An audience member cannot get more value for their money. The video is likely to get blocked, though, so you'd have to pause frequently and possibly use a semi-transparent overlay to get a reaction up. My second suggestion would be "Megitsune". It's one of those more playful songs I mentioned, and in my opinion the one that sums up BABYMETAL the best. You'll see that it's much more than "just" Metal. It's also one of the few cases where I recommend an official music video over a live performance.
At the end of the bass solo just throw out the arms to say "yeah. I just did that". There was something that always sounded weird to me until I heard the in ear version of this and her count in is 1 2 3 1 2 3
Truly wish you'd do reaction videos to the babymetal songs you listen to, but enjoy. And if you do plan on binging, I also recommend as somebody else stated, you watch a concert... And then maybe the other Babymetal songs that were NOT binged you can react to. But hopefully Road of Resistance is NOT one of the songs you binge on and hopefully you react to it for us! That one is always an amazing one to see people react to!
Almost all of their songs are their big bombastic song . Try reacting to the " live " performances of Road of Resistance , Head Banger or Megitsune . They're all bombastic and epic .
Excellent reaction, thanks! Totally agree on what you said about the band and Su-metal :) Yep, the Kami Band members are world class musicians, the best of the best you can find in Japan. They are incredibly skilled and have years of experience on their own projects as session musicians. And the funny thing is that they have told on interviews (specifically BOH, the bassist) that they always have to give their 100% just to match the girls standards and not to seem lazy. Also that this is the most demanding work on their entire career. Apparently the girls are very demanding with themselves and their team. Fortunately, they have the best team possible :)
Fancy having to follow that intro image being 16 years old and following that . BabyMetal was created around Su we call her Queen for very good reason and she is even better now she is 24 years old . We say down the foxhole the more you watch the more you understand why 🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction. This band are unique. Su is a remarkably good vocalist with bags of talent, versatility & charisma to match - she can control a crowd of 50,000 with a glance while remaining the sweetest girl in real life. The other two girls, Yui(who left the band on health grounds in 2018) and Moa are equally talented, charming and lovely. . The backing band, as you can see, are out of this world. Keep going with BABYMETAL you are in for a wonderful journey.
Every BABYMETAL song is different and I'm excited to follow you on your BABYMETAL journey. As others have said the live performances are more often than not the way to go, I think one exception to that however would be the song Megitsune since I've found with most of the live performances of that one song you don't hear one very important and interesting part. Some suggestions I think you should react to as part of your journey into the foxhole: BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997) BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete)
This is not yet the best performance of theirs, this just one of those. Check out BABYMETAL - 'Road of Resistance' Live in Japan next!🤘🦊 Nice Reaction!🔥
Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos! Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte.... Love watching Hideki in this, when they pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the pounding in the solo. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘
"As good a performance as I've even seen in Metal" And they have countless performances that are better than this. Some blow it out of the water! That's why I seriously think Babymetal are perhaps the best live band out right now. Babymetal Death at Legend 1997 In The Name Of at Legend S (really everything at Legend S, that show was mind-blowing) Road of Resistance live in Japan The list goes on...
Good reaction. Until now you have reacted to Distorsión, a song belonging to the third album, which if you listen to it can only be defined as Metal-Fusion, where their music has matured just like them. Rondo belongs to his first album, more childish than the following ones (they were also between 16 and 14 years old, so it is natural that it was). But you still haven't been able to properly react to something that defines this group: their fans. There are, for me, two songs where the symbiosis between the girls and their Fans (called The One) is more accurately reflected: Road of Resistance Live in Japan (I would put something on it to try to overcome the blocks, because they usually block it as it happens) ua-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/v-deo.html and Headbangers legend 1997 ua-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/v-deo.html By the way, don't be surprised by any reference to foxes in Babymetal. They are a fundamental part of the mythology of this group: BabyMetal are the chosen ones of the Fox God to save the metal.
That video has the studio audio (apart from the intro). Try this full live version with an all female audience (it has subtitles and it will make sense why the all female audience is significant as this is a female empowerment song) ua-cam.com/video/VaHpC825lhY/v-deo.html look in the description for the same video without the logo.
For me, my opinion If you have to see the music video to enjoy the song, the songs not that good Does it apply to BabyMetal If you have to see the performance to really enjoy the song, Is the song actually good? Megitsune, Yava, Headbanger Is it the songs or the videos that put these in my top 5 IDK
Since you mentioned Dragonforce multiple times, I saw many people recommending you "Road of Resistance" live in Japan. It's great, but a quick warning for you: reactions to that video tend to get blocked a lot, so you should play a bit with the video opacity and/or add a transparent watermark on top, so that it doesn't get blocked :D
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 No problem! some of the official MV from their channel gets usually blocked, and that includes: "Megitsune", "Gimme Chocolate", "Karate", "Road of Resistance" live in Japan, "No Rain No Rainbow" live at Legend S, and "The One - Stairway to Living Legends"
If you are just getting into Japanese Rock/Metal, fasten your seatbelt. Most your "guitar heroes" are going down a notch. Right now the best rock/metal music is coming out of Japan AND it is mostly by All Female bands!! There are 200+ bands in Japan now, so you will need to pick up the pace.
Believe me, this song is not the most amazing (objectively) in their repertoire. 🦊 I'll be watching with interest as you continue to discover this group. Just do not go on about us in your opinion about their songs. 😉
Based on your name, if you really love classic rock, then you need to go check out Band-Maid. Try Domination. You won't be sorry. Nice reaction as always :)
Never heard of them, you said I would like them and I do.
Dude, i'm jealous of you. You have the opportunity to experience new emotions. Welcome to universe of BABYMETAL!
⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥
That was a sixteen year old Su at that Budokan Black night concert.
This is the updated version (Apr 2021) of Crypticmisery's guide: ua-cam.com/video/gDne0xwniTg/v-deo.html
@Grington300 300 - I glad to see you kept to 500 words +/- Though I know most of this, I always readi your comments for additional tidbits of information.
@@GenTzu Hahaha, thanks ... I had so much more I wanted to say as well, but I wrote too much last time and I'm sure somebody else will cover it.
Perhaps your best comment to date. I always appreciate your knowledge. Arigato
Thank you so much for the information and I feel like I’ve learned so much about them 🤘 glad you liked the video!
If you do more Babymetal we will watch.
Headbanger - Legend of 1997
Don't go away and listen to a lot of Babymetal. Babymetal must be seen. And reacted to. Fans will enjoy your journey down the fox hole.
I intend on watching a lot 🤘🦊
So if you're gonna binge, I'd very much recommend finding a full concert. A HUGE part of their magic is how they manage to build the energy up from song to song over the course of a performance. They give everything they've got from the second the curtain drops to the very last note and by the end you're completely hypnotized and completely exhausted for them. Also, don't sweat the language thing. The stage work, choreo and vocal tone is all designed to get you 90% of the way there as far as the song meanings, but it might take a couple of viewings of any particular song to get everything out if it.
I intend to! Can’t wait 😊
ESP has also made Mikio's guitar and Pink-chan available.
Thank you for the info! I thought he might like Sheenan 😂 what an amazingly talented line up of musicians!
Lol
Thank you 🤘
Great reaction... welcome Kitsune...
And to see the other side of the group:
Songs like 'Catch Me If You Can', and 'Yava!' are on the fun side.
'Megitsune' is BM classic, with traditional Japanese elements
'Sis Anger', or 'GJ' are heavier songs (instrumentally) but are performed by Moa and Yui (while Su rests during long sets)
'Karate', and 'Syncopation' are more of modern metal sound (metalcore, djent)
'BxMxC', 'PA PA YA', for their more mature, and recent pieces.
I’ll give that a go 👍
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Definitely follow Bon S's suggestion about going back to watch Doki Doki Morning, BM's very first video, after you've had a few more listens to BM, you'll get whole new feelings, sense and love for BABYMETAL. 🤘🤘🤘
She stands fearless in the dark on a high but such a tiny platform, singing her heart out. Our brave little queen. Great reaction!
Thank you, glad you liked it 😊
Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) was groomed in the school themed jpop idol group Sakura Gakuin (where Babymetal was created as a subgroup) to be a 'superlady'.
I’ll check it out 👍
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Arkadia is part of a trilogy of songs, recommended to watch them in order and not off on its own.
Starlight
Shine
Arkadia
You can of course do it how you like but thats the order.
Thank you 🙏
I think you would like Kagerou
Has a kinda classic rock feel
Dragonforce times ten?
Take the "Road of Resistance" challenge.
Hideki Aoyama doesn't think you can handle it.
Thanks for the reaction. Fun stuff.
Enjoy your ride. The Foxhole is deep.
Kitsune up!
That will be this afternoon’s listen for me 👍🤘
It represents a bird cage that she can't escape even if she wants to escape.
It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind.
A nightmare rondo is being repeated.
The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight.
I can do nothing but fall
into the darkness.
Thank you for the info……I wondered why they were dressed like that 👍🤘
Great reaction and discussion, and I cannot blame you for wanting "plow through" the library. I do hope that you fire a few more Babymetal reactions! I would suggest "Tales of the Destinies" there is only one complete live version, and some compilations of varying quality....but the studio track is well worth listening too. Babymetal is almost always best live (like you have not heard that before)!
Thank You! I’ll come back in a month or so with another babymetal video when I’ve found my favourite performance 🤘
One of Babymetal's best songs, I really like Su's vocals, his voice is clean and his articulation is clear🎶

That one is an homage to Dream Theater, or more specifically, a tribute to _"The Dance of Eternity"._
As you continue to explore Babymetal, please try to keep an open mind.
Can’t wait to see more!
"The waning moon shines bright but there's a gloom of rampant madness. I hear laughter all around. It bares it's fangs and it's eyes gleam. There's no escape. It flickers slowly, appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmarish rondo keeps repeating. The light of dawn is so far away I have no choice but to run through the darkness."
Hey Classic Rock Guy!
Thank you 🙏 🤘 glad you liked the video!
Awesome!
MetRock is easily found on dailymotion
Alright mate, that was fantastic. Glad you enjoyed one of the four SuMetal solos, and personally my favorite along with "Akatsuki".
Nothing left to say, you know the business and what you're talking about, and you already got plenty of info about this song in the comments.
Funny you mentioned Billy Sheehan, BOH the bassist admire him.
Is the first time i hear someone comparing this with Within Temptation, I love that band and met them way before BabyMetal ❤️
Be sure to not missed other Kami Band intros, there are rare so i will mention the songs you can find with those intros:
_"Catch Me If You Can"_ live at Budokan 2014 (I already told you where to find that one), the same live concert you saw here
_"YAVA!"_ live at Big Fox Festival 2017 (you can find this one at Babymetal Reactor Resource channel following the links bc isn't upload on YT, I think)
_"Kagerou"_ this is the only one with the West Kami Band live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020.
May the Fox God bless you 🦊🤘
Thank you……..they definitely have some within temptation like time changes and compositions but completely in there own way, glad you liked the video!
Can you believe that this is the performance of a girl who is only 16 years old? Excellent reaction!
Amazing!
BabyMetal guitarist endorse by ESP . They artist of ESP Guitars .
Glad you liked it Rondo is my favorite song as well. If you want the power of Su”s voice No Rain No Rainbow from her home town Hiroshima will get you there.
Best performance: Road of Resistance - Live in Japan Song written by Dragon Force. Girls are 15 and 17 years old during this performance.
Really good intro by the kamiband, but my favorite intro is the one they do for Yava.
Thx for sharing your reaction.
The fearlessness of Su-metal. Think about that, she is on a platform 2 meters wide 2 meters up,
without any safety equipment. Lights on her face, there is no chance that she can see where she is standing.
It's okay if you stand still, but she takes some dance moves and then there are the thing with your mind,
it's playing with you when you know you are on an elevated platform. AND the night before,
Yuimetal fell of the stage (not this elevated platform though) so she must have had that in her mind too.
She is amazing!

Great reaction. 👍 I think it's a perfect work. Thank you very much!
Thank you 😊
Performance wise they got even better. They are in really tight with Dragon Force and wrote a song with them.
Good to know, thank you!
Wow, agree with your comments about the musicians and the singer being fantastic performers. I might have to look a bit more into ベビーメタル too now…
They really are something else………as I’m delving into their catalogue it’s extremely diverse with some unbelievable songs!
Thank you 🙏 I’m sure I can do another one at some point! Welcome to the channel 😊
Great reaction!
BABYMETAL FOREVER
🤘🤘🤘
Enjoyed your reaction very much. Hope to see more Babymetal!
absolutely amazing and wonderful song, god level I love it 💞💞💞🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵❤️❤️❤️
You're in for a long amazing journey. Enjoy.
Thank you! they are exceptional musicians 🤘
Glad you liked the video 🤘 I’m enjoying listening to some of their stuff now……..it’s so varied it’s staggering 👍
@@billysmith1797 I’ll have to check them out!
NO WAY!! She's only 16 yr old here..
Yeahh babymetal
So happy you loved this one! Truly a great example of what everyone in BABYMETAL can do!
I know you said you are going to go through their catalogue which is fantastic but I wanted to make one more recommendation, another good one to react to is YAVA at the Big Fox Festival. The song itself is great but different, like a Ska/Metal combo, However I recommend it because it too has another super awesome band solo.
Enjoy!
I’ll give it a listen tonight 👌
#notacult #possiblyacult
You mentioned Dragonforce times 10, then I recommend Road of Resistance, Live in Tokyo ua-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/v-deo.html Dragonforce was involved with the song. [BTW Dave Heretic chocked up three times during his review.]
[Note: always watch Babymetal videos until the end, the show is not over even when the singing stops. Also these two videos may get blocked by Amuse, so take precautions]
I will look up those recommendations 👍🤘
Тоже смотрю Дэвида. Жаль что он делает такие большие паузы в реакциях на бэбиметал.
@@robrob3668 Don't mind David's pauses because of his vast technical knowledge and explanations. He doesn't admit it, but he is part of the ONE and secretly loves Babymetal.
Awesome reaction my friend, just to warn you though, once you go down the foxhole you’ll never come out! This is my favorite vocals by SuMetal In any song they do! The band and her singing are both incredible and hard to believe this wasn’t a bigger hit!Very happy I discovered them though!🦊🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Thank you 😊 much appreciated 🤘
For me the best old songs are megitsune, Road of resistance and ijime dame zetai, for the "new" song i would suggest arkadia, kagerou or starlight ❤️🔥
I’ve been listening to that…….amazing!
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Which one? All of them? 😁
@@Ricc-bmc8xm arkadia and starlight 🤘🦊
Please don't be embarrassed to call them adorable 😂 we love it when metal reactors compliment their cuteness.
excellent reaction!!! mind blowing performance \m/
Thank you 🙏
Late to the party but if you're going to binge outside of reactions, make sure to watch Blu-Ray concerts. I'd recommend anything between 2015 and 2017 personally as I think this era would be quintessential BABYMETAL. Also, maybe a lot to ask, but the BM community loves a watch-along. Maybe consider setting up a twitch viewing party so we can all be together and appreciate the moment ? Just a thought xD :)
That’s a great idea! I’m a classic rock/hard rock but so these slipped under my radar as I think it it was something completely different to what I would like……I was very wrong 😂
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 That makes two of us. Slept on them for a long while for the exact same reason. :)
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Hey it seems my comment got deleted so here I go again !
I couldn't find your twitter or anything but if you're planning on doing a twitch livestream or something I will be pleased to offer my help. I can find you the right links to the full concerts, I can help you find the right concert for you right now on your journey, I can also help you choose a suitable schedule to get as many people interested as possible. I'm a very active member in various BM communities, including the BM discord where we have a dedicated reactions channel. You were the target of quite a few interesting conversations ! :).
Do not hesitate to DM me or give me infos to contact you more directly if you want that kind of help in setting this all up. I'll be glad.
Cheers.
@@Zedem0n I’m not in twitter and instagram yet, I thought I would get the channel started and then they would follow if I enjoyed it (which I really do!)
Yes that would be really helpful! I like that it’s caused a few conversations in the community……..hopefully positive but I’m always honest in my reactions and reviews so I hope it came across well to you guys 👍
Ah I see……….that’s good, I’m looking forward to going down the foxhole 🤘 🦊
BOH is the bass players name. funny you metal billy sheenan as boh says that is his hero🙂
Haha………the style is so similar
BOH likes to joke that because Billy Sheehan was one of his early influences, he didn't know one wasn't supposed to play bass that way.
Fyi, there's a *9-Strings* ESP E-II MF-9 Babymetal special edition guitar. Look it up.
Wow 🤯
@@thatclassicrockguy9268
You can hear and briefly see it in the _BxMxC_ music video.
Boh, the bassist is probably up there with the best bassists. All the band are class session musicians. Japan always aims for perfection in most things they do.
🦊💥🦊
Hell yeah! I love megadeth! And i love this song
「3:00〜」。
ベビーメタルのこのギタリストは、マーティ・フリードマンと同じ日本のバンド仲間でもあり、師匠と弟子の関係でもありました。
On 4:00 did he said DragonForce times ten? Welp... Watch Babymetal Road of Resistance Live next.
This is a fantastic song, definitely top 3 for me, but my absolute favourite song of all time, not just Babymetal, is Akatsuki. It's the perfect song imo, and this is my favourite performance of that song: ua-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/v-deo.html
Not to mention one of the best dual guitar solos of all time 🙂
@@egodreas Oh hell yeah. When they trade off and then join together at the end the hair on my arms and neck stand up every. single. time.
There are two suggestions I'd like to make:
Since you mentioned the high standard of the performance, you might be suprised to learn that that's even taken up a notch with "Road of Resistance" live in Japan.
Megitsune was the track I was listening to yesterday………one of my favourites so far 👌
@@thatclassicrockguy9268 Glad to hear that you liked it!
Totally agree on what you said about the band and Su-metal :)
Yep, the Kami Band members are world class musicians, the best of the best you can find in Japan.
Thank you and welcome to the Chanel 🤘
Fancy having to follow that intro image being 16 years old and following that . BabyMetal was created around Su we call her Queen for very good reason and she is even better now she is 24 years old .
We say down the foxhole the more you watch the more you understand why 🤘🦊🤘
Excellent, love your open-mindedness. Subscribed.
Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
Thank you 🤘🦊
Every BABYMETAL song is different and I'm excited to follow you on your BABYMETAL journey.
As others have said the live performances are more often than not the way to go, I think one exception to that however would be the song Megitsune since I've found with most of the live performances of that one song you don't hear one very important and interesting part.
Some suggestions I think you should react to as part of your journey into the foxhole:
BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)
BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)
BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL)
BABYMETAL - Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997)
BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete)
2k views in 20 hours. AWESOME! Loved the video!
This is not yet the best performance of theirs, this just one of those. Check out BABYMETAL - 'Road of Resistance' Live in Japan next!🤘🦊 Nice Reaction!🔥
Thank you! I will, looking forward to the next month when i plough through the catalogue 🤘
you are ready to babymetal headbanger live legend 1997, megitsune video, road of resistance live japan
exactly
Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos!
Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte....
Love watching Hideki in this, when they pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the pounding in the solo. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘
Try to watch babymetal karate live at download..
👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍🤘
"As good a performance as I've even seen in Metal"
And they have countless performances that are better than this. Some blow it out of the water! That's why I seriously think Babymetal are perhaps the best live band out right now.
Babymetal Death at Legend 1997
In The Name Of at Legend S (really everything at Legend S, that show was mind-blowing)
Road of Resistance live in Japan
The list goes on...
Great reaction!🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
Thank you
Good reaction. There are, for me, two songs where the symbiosis between the girls and their Fans (called The One) is more accurately reflected:
Road of Resistance Live in Japan (I would put something on it to try to overcome the blocks, because they usually block it as it happens)
ua-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/v-deo.html
and
Headbangers legend 1997
ua-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/v-deo.html
By the way, don't be surprised by any reference to foxes in Babymetal. They are a fundamental part of the mythology of this group: BabyMetal are the chosen ones of the Fox God to save the metal.
Thank you 🤘
Megitsune live is currently what I’m listening too……..my god it’s good!
ua-cam.com/video/zzhZcopXRLk/v-deo.html
That video has the studio audio (apart from the intro). Try this full live version with an all female audience (it has subtitles and it will make sense why the all female audience is significant as this is a female empowerment song) ua-cam.com/video/VaHpC825lhY/v-deo.html look in the description for the same video without the logo.
Вот именно с этой песней стоило бы познакомится в видеоклипе.

welcome to the fox hole :)
Thank you for the advice!

I will get straight on it don’t you worry 🤘
Believe me, this song is not the most amazing (objectively) in their repertoire. 🦊
