This recipe was inspired by Curly Proverbs hair growth oil ( • Hair growth LIKE A #BO... ) it has brought amazing results to my hair and scalp. and I am so happy to share my version of this recipe with you guys here today.
    Ingredients
    • 2-3 Carrier Oils
    ○ 1/4 cup Jamacian black castor oil or Clear Castor Oil
    ○ 1/3 Olive oil or avocado oil
    ○ 1/3 Coconut oil, or grapeseed oil, or almond oil,
    • 1/4 cup - Fenugreek seeds
    • 2 teaspoons -Brahmi
    • 2 teaspoons - Moringa
    • Break 2-5 pills of Biotin
    • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon MSM
    • 15-20 drops essential oils (EO)
    ○ Recommended: lavander EO, Peppermint EO, and/or rosemary EO
    Instructions
    1. In a pot warm carrier oils on LOW heat.
    2. Add fenugreek seeks, Bhrami, and Moringa
    3. Stir on LOW heat for at least 2 hours making sure oil doesn't exceed 130 degrees F (55 degrees C)
    a. If you have a double broiler use that and you can let your things sit without stirring for longer, we just don’t want your herbs to burn)
    b. Also use a slow cooker (method I would recommend) and let ingredients "cook" for up to 24 hours.
    4. Turn Off Heat
    5. Once cool, Add Biotin, MSM, and Essential Oils
    6. Mix
    7. Place everything into a Jar and store in a dark place. (moringa is sensitive to light)
    8. Can start using it as early as the next day, but can let infuse for 4-6 weeks
    9. Decant oil into an applicator bottle whenever you want to use it.
    • FENUGREEK INFO + BENEFITS
    • You can use fenugreek in the form of whole seeds, a powder, tea, a paste, and infused in oil.
    • You can incorporate it into your hair care routine in an endless amount of ways including detanglers, strengthening treatments, scalp treatments (for baldness, hair fall, increasing rate of hair growth, thickening the hair, etc..) leave in conditioners, as part of a styling gel or cream… There's really no limit on how you can use it.
    • Fenugreek seeds have an incredible ability to improve the health and quality of the hair: Not only in the strands of the hair, but also for the scalp.
    • They help treat dandruff, dry skin, fungal infections, and hair loss, but they also increase the thickness of our hair, and quicken the rate at which our hair grows quite significantly.
    • It's rich in iron, manganese, and magnesium... which many people who suffer from hair loss are deficient in.
    • Fenugreek contains the fat lecithin, (a yellow brown oily substance) which is extremely nourishing and provides beautiful shine and slip to the hair. lecithin gives a protective barrier on each strand of hair, helping to protect it from the stresses of manipulation, detangling, and other types of friction and strain. It has been used in quite a few hair products to help repair dry, damaged, brittle hair. It is also used to help reverse greying of the hair.
    • Fenugreek also contains a large variety of proteins or amino acids (1 tablespoon contains 2.5 g) that provide strength to the hair and protect it from breakage.
    ○ The lecithin and protein in fenugreek actually make it a really fantastic Detangler. The protein, again, helps the hair hold it's structure and keeps it from snapping and splitting during the detangling process, while the lecithin gives the slip to easily glide your fingers or comb through your hair.
    ○ I've tried using marshmallow root, slippery elm, and aloe vera gel as a detangler… Fenugreek trumps all of those, easily.
    • HOW TO USE
    • Massage this well into your scalp 3-4 times a week before bed. Be sure to focus on balding/thin areas on the scalp.
    ○ (Brahmi and lavender has sedative effects that can help you sleep and relax.)
    • You can either rinse/wash it out the next morning, leave it in, or apply more.

    • NOTES
    • If you're worried about ruining your pillow cases you can put a towel underneath your head.
    • Try applying this to the ends of your hair as part of a pre-poo treatment. This has made my ends very soft and has taken away the rough texture that ends tend to get as they weaken.
    • Try applying this to your eyebrows before bed to help thicken them.
ALWAYS PATCH TEST! Many people will experience a slightly itchy scalp using this oil, especially at the beginning. For most people, this itch is tolerable; however, if the itching is too much to handle, or you develop inflammation, redness, increase in dandruff, or more hair fall using this oil, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction to some ingredient(s) in this recipe. There's a few things you can try to alleviate
    1. try omitting MSM
    2. try substituting avocado oil for olive oil.
    3. try substituting palm kernal oil, babassu oil, ucuuba butter, or almond oil for coconut oil
Many people find that MSM, olive oil, and/or coconut oil do not agree with their scalp, so substituting or omitting these oils may help. However if it does not, do NOT use this oil.

I infuse my oils using a sterlized quart Mason jar set inside a small stockpot that I fill halfway with water. I put it on a very low simmer for an hour, or more....I always monitor it and gently stir. When done, I allow the jar to sit in the pot of water to cool completely. Then I take it out, gently stir for a few minutes and put the top on and store .

Have you ever tried moranga oil? I’m curious with what the difference is between the oil and herbs. I take msm internally. It helps my aching bones. I have a question. I posed it to green beauty and curly proverbs but nothing. Maybe you can help. I’m wondering what the difference is with cold processed Castor oil and Jamaican Black Castor oil. I know how they are both made but I’m wondering why the JBCO is coveted for hair growth more than the cold process. I mean if heating denatures the ingredients and also makes the JBCO more alkaline. One would think the cold processed with intact nutrients and slightly more acidic like our hair and scalp would be more beneficial. I looked online and you will see the explanations although good are a bit lacking. 🤔 thank you.

    • @VyalaBloom
      @VyalaBloom  4 роки тому +3

I have not tried moringa oil yet because it’s so expensive, though it’s definitely on my to try list… it seems really amazing!
In terms of your question… I try to get most of my information from scientific literature, but I haven’t found any papers discussing black castor oil at all, so it’s hard for me to give you a definite answer. However… I just read a paper about how castor oil will start to disintegrate at temperatures over 150°C (~300°F). I do not know how high of a temperature the castor seeds have been heated to to make black castor oil, but if it’s so high that it’s creating ash then I’m sure you’re losing a lot of the benefits. Companies say that the ash increases the effectiveness of the oil, but they don’t say how or why... which makes me really skeptical.
On the other hand, Cold pressed castor oil has lower iodine and ricinoleic acid content than if it were extracted with a solvent like hexane (but you don’t want that because hexane is very bad for you), so maybe even though black castor oil is being heated to extreme temperatures, it may still have more nutrients than cold pressed castor oil. But I don’t know for sure.
In terms of the alkalinity though, I think you’re right. The main argument I see why an alkaline oil would be beneficial is because it opens your hairs cuticles so the oil can absorb deeper into the hair… but that will also increase friction between your strands causing more breakage in the long run… and people normally use castor oil on their scalp, and a pH able 5.5 can be very irritating for it…. potentially exacerbating any scalp conditions… therefore I would agree that cold-pressed castor oil would be a better option. (also side note… JBCO is NOT safe to use for your eyelashes… only use clear castor oil or coconut oil… just had to throw that in)
When I first heard about JBCO I thought that it was less processed than it’s clear counterpart… but now… it doesn’t seem like that’s actually the case. Of course I think it’s worth trying out both of them and see what works best for you… but after reading everything I now agree with you that cold pressed castor oil may be better for hair growth.
I hope that’s somewhat helpful… If you'd like I can link the papers I read so you can read some more for yourself.

Hi Senzelo, I have actually been doing some research and it seems that MSM does not actually dissolve/infuse in oil (my mistake, I'll have to update this recipe soon), so you would not be getting any of the benefits from it, so it is A-okay to omit it from this recipe!
