My goal for the coming season is to save flowers for drying to get us over the winter. Second year in my new farm, so I'm hoping to do better this year. Love from Ireland as always ❤ Love 'Just Dahlias' btw
Amber, Another idea for dry flowers..... I've grown these neon blue small globe plants from seed. The flowers are a real show stopper. They grow about as tall as your dahlias and love sunny spots. Drought tolerant. These would be great for your dried arrangements. I think they're called echinops? They're nothing like thistles or artichokes. Check em out.😊 Jo.
Thanks so much for the info, I really wanted to learn more about dry flowers, I love them, still so pretty . I’ve started to dry some of mine, hope they look ok 🙏🌿😊
Also Manuka flowers at a different time of the year and could be useful as flowers and foliage for when you don't have much around. They are drought resistant again and can act as a semi shade bush if you need to shade some perenials. The colours are varied from white to fuschia pink. I have a pretty bright pink and it's long lasting and could be dried too. Bottlebrushes are another great stand out flower. I have a neon pink bush, 2 yrs old and already grown 6 ft tall. Next year I will have more flowers. Drought tolerant again and flowers and foliage attractive. Just thinking ahead for the next seasons.😊
Our humidity here is just shocking for trying to dry flowers. I can dry status and strawflowers but my ranunculus just want to reabsorb the moisture. I have a walk in wardrobe in one of our spare rooms and that is cool and dark, the tiny house was working well as it was always closed and warm inside but we are renovating that for farm stay accomodation so Ive been kicked out of there lol
I’ve never tried drying ranunculus but I never get many. Mine never do well and there’s always some sort of disaster, such as this spring the chooks dug up the corms!!!!
Lovely video.
Such amazing bouquets Amber ❤ well worth all the work you put in. Have a wonderful week ahead, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦
Hey Ali, have a good week. Keep warm!!
Amber could you maybe do a lesson on which flowers stems when you cut them need to be scolded (dipped in hot water ) please just as a suggestion
That’s a good idea Sonya, they all have different needs. Floret also has a list somewhere, at least she did. Perhaps check out her blog too!!
Amber watch Over the Fence Landscape tours. Where they are at Charles Little and Company. You will be interested in the dried flowers they do

Hi Amber, Just wondering what poppy species you grew for those large seed pods
Hi, they were my husband’s and they were pink with purple centres. Don’t know the exact type but he seemed to think they were opium poppies!! 😳
Does anyone know the botanical name for the globe plant?
Not me!! Sorry!!
