Happy Monday Krista! 3 degrees Celsius is cold! It seems too early for that. You’ve been so busy. Things are looking great. I’m curious about the sunflowers and when they’re ready to harvest, too. The zucchini looks fabulous! Beautiful tomatoes. I’m so glad the weather hasn’t destroyed everything. God definitely heard our prayers! Great harvest! Have a wonderful week. 🥰 ❤️
Thanks so much Donna 🥰and happy Monday. God has heard our prayers 🙏indeed. There is no other explanation for why these plants aren't almost dead with these cold night temps for the past 3 weeks. Instead most are thriving. I've asked Susie but she hasn't seen my reply yet. I think I'll ask Patricia as well because she grows them. Thanks for your prayers and have a blessed week ❤
Hi Patty. Lucky you! I haven't had one tomato yet this year because our evening temps have been so cold. Soon, I will have some fresh from my garden. Their growth has been slow for sure. Thanks for stopping by 🥰
I love seeing whats going on in your neck of the woods 😃and OMG 3 Celsius to fahrenheit is 37.4 Degrees HOLY MOLY! that is WINTER. the spinach is loving it! at 1:50 I think that is a zinnia. and your peppers are Beauties! Everything is looking great going into the fall. Hard work for sure. I'd love to see your final zucchini product(s).
I know!!! It's cold at night these past 3 weeks but the weather network says our night temps will rise over the next couple weeks, so that's a plus for sure. You think a zinnia? Great. I'll go take a closer look tomorrow. I will show the final zucchini product. The size of these zucchini are massive. Do I leave my sunflowers on the stem to completely dry or can I remove and dry myself? Thanks for watching and commenting Susie ❤
That look really awesome you have done a great job there my friend and your zucchini look awesome too. I have shared your video out as well and a 👍too.
I am so happy to hear from you my friend 🙂 as I have been thinking and praying for you. I'm sure that life has been busy for you as well. Thank you for sharing my video out.
It's cold at 3 degrees Celsius, too early. Busy but things look great. Curious about sunflowers and harvest time. Zucchini and tomatoes look fabulous. Excellent sharing❤
Thanks 🙂I was also curious about the sunflowers and did some research as this is my 1st year growing them. You don't harvest the seeds until the blooms droop and the seeds can be seen and easily come out. Or, the birds, squirrels and chipmunks start eating them, lol.
Zucchini relish sounds great the sweet potatoes look so nice and healthy yes fall is here tired of the heat ready for a change 💪🏽 😝 not sure about the sunflower’s and when to collect seeds 🤷🏽♀️ everything looks wonderful great share❤
Thanks Angel ❤I could use more heat in my evenings, lol........if I could trade I would. The weather channel says my luck is about to change but I'll stick to praying 🙏
Nice late summer garden tour! Of course up your way, it's probably more like when we're in the middle of autumn here! When you said 3°C, I had to look on my phone conversion calculator & wow, that's getting very close to freezing! We're still quite hot here during the day, but our nights are finally cooling down a bit, which is quite pleasant & nothing at all cold yet. We're actually having rain today. It's really good rain where it's just a drizzle all day long. Some would call that gloomy, but we really needed this wonderful life nourishing rain for all our plants & flowers & the smaller critters too. Birds are chirping, squirrels are gathering nuts, and cats are enamored with this quick return to usual life here instead of the terribly dry conditions we've had most of the summer. I took a walk in the rain through my yard & I'm amazed how quickly nature regenerates when given its natural sustenance again! I already see new leaves growing on stalks that were almost barren with old dried up leaves during the drought. And I'm talking almost overnight! We won't probably get to freezing until early November, so these new leaves & shoots will help keep these plants & trees healthy through the next month & a half until autumn brings the riot of colors throughout this area, generally peaking around late November. Could be earlier this year. The drought stressed most all the flora here. But after the first freeze will come the work of protection for my more vulnerable flora. Banana trees must be chopped back to the ground, shredded & spread around the trunks underneath a deep layer of straw. As the cold progresses, fig trees will have to have their now bare branches buried in straw & my little palm tree will need protection also. The Eucalyptus will be fine. It gets knocked back every winter, but it always maintains its lower portions, more like a Eucalyptus shrub, just perfect! I'm seeing autumn wildflowers beginning to poke up from the ground. Life is strong despite all the hardships. And next spring will be renewal of all the amazing beauty that lives here in the Virginia mountain South. Thanks for sharing your garden & your thoughts, your successes & ALL the beauty of your personal "almost a green acre"!!! And mostly, thanks for the smile today!
I was reflecting on your recent video walkabout as you described all this beautiful growth springing into action, with the much needed rain you received. It's truly amazes me how creation takes on a life of its own, season after season, being hard wired that way. Last Sunday was the lowest the temps have gone at night here at 3 C. Since then, we've had some cool evenings but the evening temps have bounced back up, which pleases me. During the days our temps have been sweltering and humid. Yesterday was 28 C and today 29 C. It was difficult to get much done outside but I did manage to get more long grass and weeds cut, trying to make a path to drive the truck around back. Rather than filling the wheel barrel up with soil, branches, or whatever, I just want to load it in the back of the truck and drive it there. Makes sense to me 🤔so that was the priority this week so far. You're so right, life is strong despite all of the hardships. So happy that my video helped bring a smile to your face my friend Your note did the same to me 🙂Thank you and have a great evening.
We call it a wipper snipper too! For the sunflower seeds, I'm always guided by when birds start to get at them. But, also, I think it's the case that when seeds are fully developed they almost fall out upon touch and they're big and plump. You've done so much with that garden in such a short time, very impressive.
Thanks so much Richard 🥰 and thanks for the info on the sunflowers. I was concerned because the winds are knocking them over and snapping the stems. I've already had to cut a few off the main truck. So the ones that I cut will not dry out and give me seeds?
@@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu hmmm, I could be wrong but I think probably not. Unless of course they had fully died back. I just remember that when they were ready, the seeds came out very easy - you pretty much ran thumb over and they fell out. Those were the ones I used to plant again. I also roasted some and they were good eating too .
I forgot to mention Richard, that you are the very 1st person that I know of that calls a whipper snipper and whipper snipper, lol 😂Thanks for making me smile 🙂
Krista, I meant to tell you a while ago that your neighbours must LOVE how you're transforming your property into a beautiful garden oasis. Everything looks in such good shape for the end of the season. ~ Sandra
Thank you Sandra 🥰A few of the neighbors have made positive comments, yes, but the one beside me isn't so happy that I bought here. I keep to myself and don't interact. I'm glad you love the transformation though 😀What sort of things would you plant in that new garden bed I just did?
Hostas are great as understory plants, so I would plant something that's a bit taller that would give year-round interest. Maybe some nice white pine (miniature) or other evergreens so you could put some sparkly lights on them at Christmas? They would look wonderful right next to the house. ~ Sandra
Excellent garden tour. I've never harvested sunflower seeds, so when you find out how to do it please share your knowledge. Your pepper plants look really healthy, your zucchini harvest is fabulous and I'm so pleased that your tomatoes are starting to ripen nad that new garden bed looks massive. Thank you for sharing your video.
Hey Tones. Thanks so much my friend. I have been wondering what you've been up to for awhile now, as I haven't seen you. I hope that you are well. I just uploaded a video today about blushing tomatoes, lol. I'm not having great luck with the sunflowers yet but I will be sure to pass along any info that I do learn 🙂
@@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu I've mainly been avoiding getting wet in the rain while pottering around, but without much filming. I'm hoping you'll share to your zucchini relish recipe and may be do a video of it too?
@@TonesGardeningVlogs I totally understand not wanting to get wet. It actually aggravates and flares up my fibromyalgia, which is why I avoid that at all costs. I'm not really set up yet inside my tiny home here to do a cooking video just yet. I certainly can share the recipe when I do a short video on it. Perhaps some of the process. I'll think on it 🤔
Omgosh your sweet potato plants look fabulous! I cant grow them to save myself. Maybe I’ll try again next planting season, now that I have a good go to person for advice now. Never thought I’d say I miss zucchini but I miss zucchini 😂
Haha 😂Well, if I were your neighbor, I'd bring you some and sit a spell 💯 You could have your fill of zucchini. I bought the actual sweet potatoes and rooted them inside (the process actually started in the winter/March). When they began growing vines (which took months, lol), I cut slips off and rooted them in water and then they got planted into the ground. I'm told that once you plant a sweet potato patch you want to make sure that is where it will be forever because you never get every single one when you harvest and they keep coming back. They are tubers and are actually part of the morning glory family. Thanks for stopping by my friend ❤
Hello and welcome 🙂I do have plenty of space for growing and have enjoyed getting new garden beds started this season. I look forward to subscribing to your channel as well and watching your content. Thank you for stopping by.
Looking amazing same name!! Not a common name at all! I love cosmos. I leave them in the ground and let the reseed them selves. They are definitely a hardy plant. Never did get our veggies going this year. Next season! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for coming by 🙂Your right about the cosmos being hardy. I have collected some but many have already fallen to the ground. I look forward to seeing your veggies next year. Have a great day.
To get a quick and close estimate of c to f readings, I do cx2+30. 3°c is 37°f, but the quick conversion is 36. Close enough for dressing and gardening. ❤
@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu I only remember because I learned it 25 years ago and have had the opportunity to apply it several times.🤣 Who knows, maybe it will help someone. 🤷♀️
I think you may get some cosmos blooms. I threw seeds down last October and by early spring I got my cosmos and poppies. I love to watch things grow. My tomatoes took forever this year. I sure love this garden tour. No joke this reminds me….I grabbed butterfly bush seeds as I left my friends house today and put them in my pocket and watching this reminds me to take them out of my pocket😳 Spinach is so good for us. I love how it’s thriving. Can see why you’re almost a green acre! You have quite a bit of land.
You got me to chuckling about the seeds in your pocket, lol. I think you are right about getting some blooms but I am also okay with just getting seeds as well. So happy that you enjoyed the tour 😊 Thanks so much.
Yes, they are epic. This is the 3rd massive harvest. I've been sharing at a soup kitchen in town and a food bank. I enjoy sharing things that I've been blessed with. Zucchini is actually pretty versatile. I bet those brownies and apple pie tasted awesome, yum 😋 Thanks so much for stopping by.
Thanks so much, my dear friend for another great video always enjoy. I need to get going on my fall garden too just been so bad hot out here and we have fires all around. Can barely get outside because the air is so bad.
Thanks so much GrandmaSandy With those kinds of conditions outside, I would agree that it's not a good idea to put yourself at rise. Not that big of a deal to have a garden bed or two be dormant for a season. Please take care and I will be praying 🙏 that the fires get under control.
The Sweet Potato Garden Looks like it's going to be full, I got a few red potatoes today for some stew on Thursday , also tool in a few carrots for that too. I had a few pepper plants but the got "funky" they went weird shapes and colors. I'm still learning , I should pay more attention to my daughter here garden looks more like yours lots of what ever she planted lol. It is getting cold Fall is definitely here especially at nights. My daughter has issues with birds steaking her sunflower seeds before they are ready to harvest ...Hey I call it a wiper snipper too lol, You have been busy and HARD work. That's a nice big fire pit . that zucchini is huge indeed. LOTS of tomatoes and some nice ones there too Hope you have a great week my friend .
Thanks so much for stopping by my friend. Oh my, you're the 2nd person I know that calls it a whipper snipper, lol. I'm glad that you are getting some harvest and I'm looking forward to seeing what the sweet potato bed does. It does look full so that should be interesting. Have a great week yourself
Thanks so much 🙂Yes, I will certainly be collecting some nasturtium seeds. I didn't put in any salads yet as they were late blooming and I've been admiring their blooms.
Hi Krista- Plants are all looking good. Lots of work still but you'll have a full pantry/freezer. When do you harvest the sweet potatoes? Your new garden bed looks great! Winter is coming--you deserve a break after all of your hard work. Your property looks beautiful .
Thanks so much Barby ❤I would be bored if there was nothing to do, lol. The sweet potatoes should get harvested before frost or when the plants are looking all dry and almost dead 😂Break is coming soon enough and thanks for your encouraging words
Hello and welcome to the channel I also sub'd to your channel as well. I think your profile says you are from Singapore, yes? It is getting expensive to buy zucchini all over the world. Prices are high. It is good to grow your own 🙂Thank you.
No gardens here, well based in busy city lifestyles, work, cook, travel becomes my daily target, admire and like watching nature harvest during my break time, thrilling and beautiful 🍅🍋🥒
I grew crook necks this year so i pick them a little small, let one grow out a ways and fried them like fries so good i prefer the green ones the most those tomatoes are crazy maybe start earlier? next year
I haven't heard of it in those terms, but it just sounds like dehydrated zucchini further grinded down. That's a great way to store zucchini to use in all kinds of ways.
Everything is still looking so good in spite of your low temps. It looks like you have foxglove near the road, if it is, cuddos to you, mine gave up and killed over a few weeks ago. I also call it weedeating or a weedeater. Some even say a string trimmer. We are in the middle of a surprise tropical storm right now, been a deluge of wind and rain for 2 days as it is slow moving. We had to go out in it this evening to put up animals and I noticed many of my things layed over in the garden because of the winds. I might have to do damage control when it's over. Your cleanup projects are looking awesome!
Yes, I saw that a tropical storm was making landfall earlier today and the winds and rain always arrive ahead of it. As long as you're all safe that is the main thing. The garden can be cleaned up. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you 😍Please take care and I will be praying for your protection my friend 🙏
All of your plants look great!! I know it's been cold there. It was 83° in northeastern Minnesota today (28°c). Is there any way we could compromise? I'll send some warmth up, if you'll send some coolness down this way!!
@@heavensfire18 The craziness is that our day times temps are crazy hot with humidity. Tomorrow will be 29 c and Wed 28 c but starting tomorrow our night temps start to rise also. If I could I would send you cool temps 🥰
It certainly is easy to grow. I like zucchini but not this much of it, lol 😂What you see on that table to the right I grated and mixed with some tomatoes to make salsa today. Zucchini takes on the flavors of things its paired with and I didn't have many tomatoes. The zucchini on the left and what's left in the garden, I will make zucchini relish with 🙂
Well done, my fellow gardener. Well done.
Thank you so much 💕

Good morning sis love ❤🌹🌹☕☕☕🌹🌹🌹
Wonderful sharing here all the bast have a great week ❤
Thank you 🙂Have a great week.

Thanks my friend 💕
Very nice sharing ❤
Thank you 🙂
New subscriber here from UK 🇬🇧 that is a lot of space you have plenty of room to grow things 👍👍
Hello and welcome 🙂I do have plenty of space for growing and have enjoyed getting new garden beds started this season. I look forward to subscribing to your channel as well and watching your content. Thank you for stopping by.
Harvest time! Beautiful and abundant garden! New sub
Thank you and welcome 🙂
Looking amazing same name!! Not a common name at all! I love cosmos. I leave them in the ground and let the reseed them selves. They are definitely a hardy plant. Never did get our veggies going this year. Next season! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for coming by 🙂Your right about the cosmos being hardy. I have collected some but many have already fallen to the ground. I look forward to seeing your veggies next year. Have a great day.
Fantastic 🦔👍
Thank you McD 🙂Hope all is well and Itty Bitty is good ❤
To get a quick and close estimate of c to f readings, I do cx2+30. 3°c is 37°f, but the quick conversion is 36. Close enough for dressing and gardening. ❤
You think I'd know that by now Jen but it never sticks in my brain for some strange reason. Thank you I'll try to remember.

No joke this reminds me….I grabbed butterfly bush seeds as I left my friends house today and put them in my pocket and watching this reminds me to take them out of my pocket😳
Spinach is so good for us. I love how it’s thriving. Can see why you’re almost a green acre! You have quite a bit of land.
Your zucchini is epic. I grew so much one year we made zucchini everything even brownies and “apple” pie out of the squash.
You can use your Google app to scan anything you are not sure about what it is & get an idea of what’s growing from your wild pack.
Thanks so much 🙂
Thanks so much, my dear friend for another great video always enjoy.
My daughter has issues with birds steaking her sunflower seeds before they are ready to harvest ...Hey I call it a wiper snipper too lol,
You have been busy and HARD work.
Are you pickling the nasturtium seeds? The flowers are nice in a green salad. The garden looks really nice.
Thanks so much 🙂Yes, I will certainly be collecting some nasturtium seeds. I didn't put in any salads yet as they were late blooming and I've been admiring their blooms.
👍👍
Thank you.
Great video and new subscriber!! Have a good day and weekend.
Hi Heather and welcome. Thank you and have a great weekend 🙂
@@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu your welcome and thank you and okay
Wow beautiful harvest in mid autumn and exciting to watch your private garden 🥒🍅🌻zucchini sells very expensive here 🔔🔔new sub
@@durian4209 I'm so happy that I can bring some beauty during a busy lifestyle 🤗
I grew crook necks this year so i pick them a little small, let one grow out a ways and fried them like fries so good i prefer the green ones the most those tomatoes are crazy maybe start earlier? next year
Fries are a great idea Vinivv. I did start all the tomato plants inside but our evening temps didn't get above 15 c until around the 3rd week in June.
New subscriber here lovely vlog ❤
Thank you Mandy and a warm welcome 🙂
I was thinking about trying to make Zucchini flour. Have you heard of it?
@@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu thanks, and yes we are safe. It has been great napping weather.
@@kanddshomestead2839 ❤Those days are good to recharge 🙂
I'm weird. I like to eat tomatoes that are more orange than red. :) I probably would have eaten those. ;)
Haha, I did eat a few of them off video 😆Thanks for coming by 🙂
All of your plants look great!!
Yuck! You're in the same boat we are. I don't do well with all of this humidity. :(
@@heavensfire18 I hear ya. Neither do I my friend.

Wow! I wish I liked zucchini, I don't grow it because I don't care for it much, but I heard it is really easy to grow!
It certainly is easy to grow. I like zucchini but not this much of it, lol 😂What you see on that table to the right I grated and mixed with some tomatoes to make salsa today. Zucchini takes on the flavors of things its paired with and I didn't have many tomatoes. The zucchini on the left and what's left in the garden, I will make zucchini relish with 🙂
You are so wonderful, wish you a new day full of joy and happiness. Always accompany and develop with you 🎉
