I recently spent 2 months working as a counsellor at an American summer camp in Connecticut. This adventure far surpassed all of my expectations set by binge watching the Parent Trap and It Takes Two since birth. If you are considering applying for a job at a camp, I cannot recommend it enough.
I've been promising since returning home that I'll make a Q&A answering any questions you guys have, because there have been a lot (which makes me very happy). If there's anything you want to know about being a camp counsellor, my experience and stories, my tips or anything else, leave a comment below and i'll answer it in the next video :)

I was a UK drama counsellor with BUNAC at WahNee in 1991.
i've watched this countless times it makes me so happy!! i cannot wait until i'm 18 bc this is definitely something i NEED to do it seems so incredible

ah my gosh!! literally crying!!! I'm 21 and haven't been to camp since like age 16. i sed to go every year to multiple ones from age 8-15. i miss it so much this just was major throw back. thank you so much. i am like bawling joy hahaha

Such a beautiful video, it made me so happy, I am hoping to work on a summer camp next summer. What was it like being vegan at camp and do you have any tips? Did you travel after camp and if so where did you like the most? I would love to explore more of America but really don't know where to start! So happy you enjoyed your time at camp :)
The idea of doing something like this has been suggested to me recently and I've been down lately as I don't know what to do after college, but this video really sold it to me, I'd love to be able to travel and do something so rewarding at the same time!

Hey Ally, I would love to work at a camp but the thing is I'm not very good at sports, do you think that would be a problem?
not all camps are sports based, and not all jobs are! you could be an art & crafts specialist, or work at a theatre camp!

@@AllySheehan I worked at Camp Tallchief for girls in Oklahoma! I had a blast with the girl scouts and I’m thinking of doing it again in 2023! (I’m actually aupairing in tha states right now).

What are the boy girl ratios like as a counsellor? And also, when your not working, are there ever parties or drinking? Or are there strict rules?

Was this a camp for older teens? the people look kinda oldish for a summer camp
The campers were 7-17, but this video has lots of /mostly footage with my fellow counsellors :)
omg this might sound really weird but my teacher was a counselor at Wah-nee in 2012 but he never told us, my mom saw on his facebook and told me😂
and it looks really hype there and i really wanna go but its too much money
